[ovirt-users] Re: New Issue - Ovirt Status shows '?' or Down for all elements
As a followup - is it possible to move the hosted-engine to another HV manually? Meaning we shutdown the hosted-engine VM, and copy it's XML to another HV and fire it up over there where libvirt IS running? If that is possible, where do we find the live / running XML files on a host? [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine stalled and unable to restart
Hello, We are on an older version (3.x - cannot be specific as I cannot get my ovirt hosted engine up). We experienced a storage failure earlier this evening - the hosted engine was originally installed with this storage domain although we have moved all VM's and disks off of it. The storage was restored and all the VM's are now running, but the ovirt engine is not pinging and is unreachable. I have attempted to locate it on my HV's using 'virsh list --all' but only one of those is taking my credentials - all the others fail to authenticate. Is there a way to locate what the credentials are on each HV since the default is not working? Additionally, is there any other way to locate the hosted engine and restart it directly from a HV? Hello, oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6 We recently removed the Data (Master) storage domain from our ovirt cluster and replaced it with another. All is working great. Looking at the results for 'mount' I see two mounts to the node in question (192.168.64.15): 192.168.64.15:/nfs-share/ovirt-store/hosted-engine on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.15:_nfs-share_ovirt-store_hosted-engine type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.15,mountvers=3,mountport=892,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.15) 192.168.64.11:/export/testovirt on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.11:_export_testovirt type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.11,mountvers=3,mountport=46034,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.11) 192.168.64.163:/export/storage on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.163:_export_storage type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.163,mountvers=3,mountport=20048,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.163) 192.168.64.55:/export/storage on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.55:_export_storage type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.55,mountvers=3,mountport=20048,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.55) binfmt_misc on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw,relatime) 192.168.64.15:/nfs-share/ovirt-store/hosted-engine on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.15:_nfs-share_ovirt-store_hosted-engine type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.15,mountvers=3,mountport=892,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.15) 10.1.90.64:/ifs/telvue/infrastructure/iso on /rhev/data-center/mnt/10.1.90.64:_ifs_telvue_infrastructure_iso type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=131072,wsize=524288,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=10.1.90.64,mountvers=3,mountport=300,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=10.1.90.64) 192.168.64.163:/export/storage/iso-store on /rhev/data-center/mnt/192.168.64.163:_export_storage_iso-store type nfs (rw,relatime,vers=3,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,soft,nosharecache,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=6,sec=sys,mountaddr=192.168.64.163,mountvers=3,mountport=20048,mountproto=udp,local_lock=none,addr=192.168.64.163) /etc/fstab has no entry for these so I assume they are left over from when the storage domain existed. Is it safe to 'umount' these mounts or is there a hook I may not be aware of? Is there another way of removing this from the node via that OVM? None of the other nodes in the cluster have this mount. This node is not the SPM. Thank you for your time and consideration. Hello, I recently removed our ISO domain from out cluster (oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6) because it was on a storage location we no longer want to use. I am now not clear on how to add the new ISO domain in. I created a new ISO domain type via storage and pointed to an NFS share on the new storage, however it does not behave as I anticipated (I cannot see ISO's when creating new VM's) I suspect I missed a step - how are new ISO domains added to a cluster? Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to add Hosts to Cluster
We have found a resolution to this issue which is a bit convoluted - and still does not explain why this started in the first place. Once we have prepped a HV server to be added (all the NIC's are ready, selinux, networkmanager, firewalld, etc have been disabled, we have to do the following: yum install librbd1 rm /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo (yes... delete the base repo...) vi /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Vault.repo add the following: [vault] name=CentOS-$releasever - Extras #mirrorlist=http://vault.centos.org/?release=$releasever=$basearch=extras baseurl=http://vault.centos.org/centos/7.0.1406/os/x86_64/ gpgcheck=0 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-7 vi /etc/yum.repos.d/ovirt-3.5-dependencies.repo edit baseurls as show below: [ovirt-3.5-glusterfs-epel] name=GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. baseurl=https://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/old-releases/3.6/3.6.1/RHEL/epel-7/x86_64 enabled=1 skip_if_unavailable=1 gpgcheck=0 [ovirt-3.5-glusterfs-noarch-epel] name=GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. baseurl=http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/old-releases/3.6/3.6.1/RHEL/epel-7/noarch #baseurl=http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/EPEL.repo/epel-$releasever/noarch enabled=1 skip_if_unavailable=1 gpgcheck=0 yum remove ovirt-release35 yum remove vdsm yum remove libvirt yum install ovirt-release35-002-1 yum install libvirt-1.1.1-29.el7 yum install vdsm-4.16.7-1.gitdb83943.el7 We can then successfully add the HV into the cluster. At this point I'm wondering if there is anyone in the community that freelances and would be willing to provide remote support to resolve this issue? Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to add Hosts to Cluster
Yaniv, I have one of my developers assisting me and we are continuing to run into issues. This is a note from him: Hi, I'm trying to add a host to ovirt, but I'm running into package dependency problems. I have existing hosts that are working and integrated properly, and inspecting those, I am able to match the packages between the new host and the existing, but when I then try to add the new host to ovirt, it fails on reinstall because it's trying to install packages that are later versions. does the installation run list from ovirt-release35 002-1 have unspecified versions? The working hosts use libvirt-1.1.1-29, and vdsm-4.16.7, but it's trying to install vdsm-4.16.30, which requires a higher version of libvirt, at which point, the installation fails. is there some way I can specify which package versions the ovirt install procedure uses? or better yet, skip the package management step entirely? *** *Mark Steele* CIO / VP Technical Operations | TelVue Corporation TelVue - We Share Your Vision 16000 Horizon Way, Suite 100 | Mt. Re: [ovirt-users] Unable to put Host into Maintenance mode
Using the ovirt-shell, I find that there are no vms assigned to this host: [oVirt shell (connected)]# list vms --query "host=hv-01" So I'm now looking to see where the host is reporting back to the engine that it has migrations in progress. Anyone know where to look for that? Thanks! *** *Mark Steele* CIO / VP Technical Operations | TelVue Corporation TelVue - We Share Your Vision 16000 Horizon Way, Suite 100 | Mt. Hello all, We recently had a network event where we lost access to our storage for a period of time. The Cluster basically shut down all our VM's and in the process we had three HV's that went offline and would not communicate properly with the cluster. [ovirt-users] Storage Migration issues
Hello, We have begun migrating VM boot disks from one Storage domain to another. Both the storage domains are NFS and both are V3. The Ovirt instance is oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6 I am shutting down the VM's prior to migration (not a live migration). When the disks complete their move, I start the VM back up on the original host. The hosts are all running either Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or 16.04 LTS I have experienced the following two issues: - when the VM's come back up, they are not mounting an external NFS mount that is defined in /etc/fstab. The mount can be reinstated manually and survives subsequent reboots - but every VM that has an external NFS mount has this issue after migration - VM's that have a docker instance running no longer respond to web requests on the web server ports that the docker instance is running. Any thoughts on why this would happen would be greatly appreciated. [ovirt-users] Several VM's stuck in Migration
Hello, We recently had our storage array hang. We were able to get the disk array back online, however several of our VM's attempted to migrate from one Host to another. Now that the storage is online, several of the VM's still indicate they are in a state of migration and I cannot manage them from withing the ovirt engine web administration gui. Most of the VM's are actually running properly and I can access them either via ssh or RDP (depending on the OS). I have attempted to clear the migration status with the following: - service ovirt-engine restart (on the ovirt-engine vm) - reboot ovirt-engine vm - PGPASSWORD=### ./unlock_entity.sh -t vm vm-name - restart the vm from within the vm additionally - i went on the HV of one of the VM's and did: vdsClient -s 0 destroy vm_guid unfortunately, that removed all traces of the vm from that HV and it was not on any of the other three HV's - although ovirt-engine still shows it and reports it as migrating. I'd like to clear the migrating status of the affected VM's and figure out how to recover the missing one. Any help would be appreciated. I am not the person who originally setup the ovirt installation, so I am not sure where to go to pull logs. This is our production environment. Generatlly the answer is no but lets avoid it if we can for this is a minor cosmetic issue I guess. just as FYI - vdsm only reconnects to the socket exposed by libvirt to control the vm lifecycle. VDSM doesn't manadate the lifecycle of a VM unless the engine tells is so.
