Hi,
It’s not difficult. My fumbling attempts at a Nixie clock some time ago
used a 4:1 multiplex ratio, using four digits and only one decoder. I used
the same MPSA42/MPSA92 driver as your example. My multiplex function was
called at 100Hz, so each digit was refreshing at 25Hz. It doesn’t flic

I'd agree with the above. To make sure you are avoiding any indeterminate
states, pull all of the inputs up to +5v with a resistor of about 2k2 to
4k7. Then, for the inputs you want low, jumper those inputs to ground. The
pull-up resistors will mean you get a good solid '1' without the jumper,
-icle!

Very cool. But expensive! I aspire (possibly foolishly) to attempt such
experiments some day, once I get my high vacuum station set up for lasers,
neon, plasma, fusor, etc.
If I were to buy a spool of the Dumet wire, would anyone like to get some
of the wire to play with to help share the cost a
Hi

I have a few of both types. One string of the Silvestri 70s/80s-produced
smaller ones that run on a typical smaller-socket light string (box looks
like old K-Mart style printing). You can find them on ebay sometimes
relatively inexpensively. These are a spherical holder that the glass vial

What is that cascading display at top center in the first part of the
video? Looks like a random pattern on an LCD panel. I like it.

Yeah, I fear I may come to regret scrapping or even trashing so many old
circuit boards in the past, and not just for the lost potential gold
recovery either!

Yeah. Apparently they still make them, too.

I might be interested. I have a small supply of iv-22 tubes and some of
the iv-4/17 alphanumeric ones too.
Terry, I remember those bubble lights at grandparents farm. I had started
to look into buying some many years ago, but never did...

Thanks. Yeah, as always some manuals are easy to find, while others remain
elusive... I'll wait to print the ones I found out at work until I get the
units safely back to San Antonio for evaluation. My buddy said they look
dirty and have evidence of rodents nearby...

I...bid on some more junk, I mean stuff, Monday night. Driving to NM
Saturday and will go up to ABQ to pick them up. Two units, an HP 5245L
counter with 5252A and a 5243L with a (maybe) 5262A Time Interval unit.
Also a 5214L Preset Counter. And then a Eldorado Elec 783G Time Interval

Pretty cool tubes! Not sure about the comment about the sockets not being
good for inserting and removing tubes. These are used for PMTs all the
time and I've not seen any problems yet plugging and unplugging tubes from
bases.

Heavy lift yeah that applies here too. The lathe, milling machines and
metal shaper are obviously of some worth, and tools. The dental xray
machines are heavy but not completely absurd. The powder diffraction xray
machine is odd, bulky, heavy, etc. Vacuum pumps, lasers, etc are mostly
all small

But I digress. The point is, we have quirky hobbies and valuable stuff
