Anyone have anything to recommend?
I saw the Ronda Rousey documentary last night. It was well worth
watching.
Death of Stalin was good.
Starting to watch Killing Eve.
Devs just got weird. Meh
Westworld is getting weird too.
Billions starts up again soon... that is one of my favs.
Little fires was interesting in the beginning but became too much of a
chick flick for me at the end.
I like High Maintenance.
Better call Saul is coming to and end... sob...
Homeland is ending this week ... sob ...
BlackAF is interesting. Especially if you read up on the
creator. He did Blackish. I think I will tire of it soon.--

if you only want to do billing Platypus is still around and is relatively
cheap, but it is literally a billing platform only.

Sonar is a total CRM as well as business management platform...the whole
enchilada.

Sonar is awesome, you won't be disappointed.

we started with platypus, moved to powercode, it was an upgrade from plat but
was way too clunky and at the time powercode couldn't do RADIUS so, after 18
months of trying to make our business model fit to the powercode way we moved
to Sonar and haven't looked back.

Sonar is very forward thinking with their service and they have just about
every integration under the sun you could think of (text to customer, fleet
tracking, preseem QoS, snail mail marketing etc.)

Yes sonar will still integrate with procera/sanvine, also sisae (or however
you spell it) and of course preseem.

In fact if you find something you want sonar to integrate with they will
dedicate the resources to make it happen.

if you only want to do billing Platypus is still around and is relatively
cheap, but it is literally a billing platform only.

Sonar is a total CRM as well as business management platform...the whole
enchilada.

you can host it wherever, locally is better though

[AFMUG] OT some mirth

2020-04-22 Thread chuck
Was watching a comic on TV and it reminded me of something

When my oldest daughter was fixin to get married 15 or so years ago, she
obtained a book that had a title something similar to : a gay man’s guide to
pleasuring a man. I had no idea she did this.

I picked up some guys for some kind of business meeting and they got in the
back seat of my car.
Later that day I discovered that book laying on the back seat floor of the car.

I can’t remember who they guys were but they were from out of state and I
picked them up at the airport I think.
If you were one of those guys... well I did not read the book. Sorry to get
your hopes up...

Im pretty excited about this.

Cambium has been outstanding to work with. Between linkplanner, CnMaestro,
CnHeat, EPMP, and CnPilot, projects like this are something that a moron like
me can fumble through to a clean end product. the only thing non cambium here
is some backhauls and mikrotiks.

Theres a guy named Josh Powell out of Peoria, guys amazing to find solutions on
networking who has a great ability to dumb things down so a window licker like
me can understand it.

Josh Luthmans probably tired of answering my facebook questions too

But, even though when this project is broken down to its components, its all
simple WISPs stuff, Im still pretty proud to have gotten it done. I learned a
whole lot

https://cdn.cambiumnetworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/COVID-19-Education-Response-04222020.pdf

Cambium is amazing, a tiny no account WISP in central Illinois reached out to
the degenerates at afmug one night, and Scott Imhoff reaches back the next day.
Next thing you know we are keeping continuity for under-served student
families. I got to deal with all kinds of cambium folks. they showed me how to
use the products more efficiently, Theyre really a solid company, and im no
vendor fanboy.

The cool thing is we opened this up across our territory to all the school
districts. other than PMP load, it will not have a huge amount of impact, since
it egresses the school network and flows opposite our normal back-haul traffic
in most cases. We are looking to expand this to a permanent program.

We did find out the rural homework gap, in our area at least is not huge, one
of the districts had already achieved 100 percent access, I cant stop talking
them up in our community for that.

We got 6 names today, 2 were good for sure, one shows good, but is in a pot i
normally wouldnt have considered, 2 are unservicable, but we will drive by and
verify and one is in range of one of the school Wifi hotspots.

I could go on and on

I added a network, 'Customers'. Everything we have is nested under
'default' (our tower sites). This is where I nest all 'customer' related
equipment. Just as an example. I prefer to handle it this way.

[AFMUG] CNMaestro Relay Question

2020-04-22 Thread Nate Burke

What is the 'best practice' to setup CN Maestro for a customers relay?

5ghz EPMP SM installed on a Barn, EPMP2.4 radio in AP mode facing House,
EPMP2.4radio in SM Mode facing Barn. Usually I just run the 5ghz SM off
the AUX port of the 2.4 radio. Then I only have to have a single Power
supply and Cable run to wherever the power is.

I thought that CNMaestro was supposed to be smart enough to figure out
that equipment (especially if it was all Cambium equipment) was nested
all automagically, but I guess not. Are you supposed to create a new
'tower' for the barn, and then put the 2.4 equipment under that? I'm
starting to load more things into CNMaestro, and we have a handful of
these scenarios. If they're all supposed to be towers, that seems like
it will get out of hand pretty quick. And it's not truly a tower, it's
just a radio on the guys barn that will only ever feed his house.

unless those have banding slits cut in them, he may want to put some mattresses
on the ground to catch the radios when the bands tear.

That being said, assuming hes using the 3/4-1 inch bands and the style we used
to use, yes, you hammer the clamps. its kind of like kneading dough, you have
to roll them with the hammer. I havent used that tool in like 8 years though

If he can post a quick video of what he is doing I'm sure we could critique it.
I haven't done it myself in a decade but all the gear I put up on steel poles
10 years ago is still up and hasn't moved. Which of your brackets is he

the bracket and thus isn't getting tightened properly.

Re: [AFMUG] OT - why America can't build

2020-04-22 Thread Lewis Bergman
I remember a civil engineer lamenting the award of some enormous project to
the Chinese over a US company. I want to say it was some gigantic structure
(maybe a bridge?) in Seattle. The engineer was stating that due to the
scale of the project new facilities and equipment would have to be built to
build the end result. He said that this one award would setup China's
ability to be the single awardee for projects of this scale for generations
to come as their capital advantage would be unbeatable.

So, thats part of it. As a nation, we are no longer capable of seeing past
the SEC 10-Q's to make generational based decisions which provide long term
advantages to our country, communities, and shareholders. The Chinese have
no such difficulty.

Hatch. Used to run a dial-up POP there...

Ehh... the AirFiber 5x is a good radio. If it's a new link, or
replacing both ends, then the Airfiber 5xHD is generally a pretty good
replacement. The HD is better than the old 5x in some ways, and a bit worse
in other ways, but they're both good radios.

We get the big packs of boneless skinless thighs from Costco. Little bit of
SPG and BBQ rub, cooks on the gasser in about 15 minutes. Helps when trying to
be somewhat healthy.

Tried something new tonight. Chicken thighs stuff with Chipotle Bitchin

Doesn’t produce the kind of heat of some of Jamie’s meals  but had some nice
kick nonetheless. Wasn’t going to add the bacon, but wanted to do my part to
end the bacon glut, and glad I added it.

Re: [AFMUG] OT Chicken Thighs and Bacon

2020-04-22 Thread David Coudron
I should have thought of that excuse years ago. “No sense wasting time fixing
it honey, someone is just going to mess with it again. Better off just
learning to be careful”. 

We do the same thing, cook the whole pack and use the extra all week. The
fattier meat keeps them from drying out so much, I like to chop them up, fry in
a little butter, and make a sandwich out of them. They are still pretty cheap
around here, so cheap you could just throw the rest of the pack away, but I
know better than to poke that bear now…..

Imma still cut you. One of our groceries had my tyson thighs today. 1.99 a
pound. That's highway robbery. I pay .99 cents. You cost me a buck a pound,
imma be needing that back so as to ensure you dont happen across a loose stair
tread. Just saying, it's always good to have insurance against those
unfortunate accidents.

Seriously though, I was giddy when a saw them, charcoal grill with a ton of
lawry's. I keep those in my fridge and eat on them all week. It's the only
reason we have summer.
