BUS: CFJ 3920 Judged FALSE, 3919 Judged TRUE

2021-07-21 Thread Rebecca Lee via agora-business
Trigon sent a message that was clearly received by all on 12 July (in my
timezone UTC+10), but was headed as sent on 13 July for most recipients.
Rule 478 tells us that a message is sent at the time the header shows it to
be sent. Conflicting headers are to be resolved as a matter of game custom
under CFJ 2206: https://faculty.washington.edu/kerim/nomic/cases/?2206.
Obviously, respecting the objective fact that the email was neither sent
nor received on 13 July is preferable to the alternative. It is better for
all that the email is deemed to be sent at the gmail time of 12 July (or in
some timezones 11 July) rather than on the fake date of 13 July that Trigon
clearly inserted. CFJ 3920 is FALSE

CFJ 3919 queries whether Trigon initiated a CFJ at all. CFJs are called by
announcement (R 991). An announcement to a public forum is public if it is,
among other methods, sent to a public forum. Trigon's message was sent to a
public forum - agora-business. Evidence for that can be found here:
https://mailman.agoranomic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/private/agora-business/2021-July/047015.html.
Nothing else is required. CFJ 3919 is TRUE.

I have held the office of Referee for 1 month (since 17 June) without

I have deputised for Registrar today (17 July). I award myself Cyan Glitter

I have passed a unanimous proposal amending a power 3 rule on July 15th and

I call a CFJ: Each player may claim a justice card this Agoran week.

Rule 2478 states in relevant part "The player who initiated the most Finger
Pointings that resulted

in a Warning, Indictment, or Cold Hand of Justice in the previous
Agoran Week CAN once grant emself a Justice Card by announcement."

The rule provides nothing about ties. Last Agoran week, everybody was
tied in having pointed 0 such fingers. Does that mean everyone gets
one, or that only a singular 'player' can get one?

Just kidding - According to Aris my pend never worked in the first place
(as I didn't pay the fee in the fee-based action). I have 3 pendants after
all. The distribution is still valid though.

@notary [pledge] Re: BUS: Petition [attn. Referee]

2021-07-03 Thread Rebecca Lee via agora-business
I hereby respond to this

I was going to do this after I stopped being interim given the fact that a
lot of the regulations are about what interim officers can do and it's
easier and better to repeal them when elected. I haven't called an election
yet because of transparent ribbon timing.

I pledge to review the regulations within 7 days of being elected referee
if I am so elected.

BUS: [Proposal] MMI

2021-06-30 Thread Rebecca Lee via agora-business
I create and pend the following proposal.

Title: Nicer Definitions
AI: 3
Text: Amend rule 2152, "Mother May I", by replacing

"SHOULD NOT, DISCOURAGED, DEPRECATED: Before performing the
described action, the full implications of performing it should
 be understood and carefully weighed."

with

""SHOULD NOT, DISCOURAGED, DEPRECATED: Before performing the

described action, the full implications of performing it ought to be

 be understood and carefully weighed."

and also by replacing

"SHOULD, ENCOURAGED, RECOMMENDED: Before failing to perform the

described action, the full implications of failing to perform
it should (in the ordinary-language sense) be understood and
 carefully weighed."

with

"SHOULD, ENCOURAGED, RECOMMENDED: Before failing to perform the

described action, the full implications of failing to perform
it ought to be understood and
 carefully weighed."

[Explanation: The word SHOULD is currently defined as meaning the word
should. This is not technically recursive because the upper case terms are
terms of art, but it looks awful. This proposal means that it becomes
"ought to", which just looks better. I also get to remove a terribly clunky
parenthetical.]

In accordance with Jason's comments, I retract the proposal "Reduce Sparkle
by 50%!" and create the following proposal

Title: It's a gray, gray world.
Coauthor: Jason
AI: 3
Text:
Amend rule 2438, "Ribbons", by deleting the last list item.
[Comment: Awarding coins can be done at power 1, piggybacking off of the
Ribbon rule. No reason to have Glitter here at power 3]

Amend rule 2602, "Glitter" to read, in full:
"Each type of Ribbon has a corresponding type of Glitter with the same
name. A player qualifies for a type of Glitter when e qualifies for the
same type of Ribbon while already owning such a Ribbon. If a player has not
been awarded that type of Ribbon or e corresponding type of Glitter since e
last earned or came to qualify for that type of Ribbon, and has not
been so awarded
five or more times within the past 24 hours, any player CAN award em that
type of Glitter by announcement. When a player gains a type of Glitter, the
Tailor SHALL in an officially timely fashion and CAN once by announcement
award em N/2 boatloads of coins rounded up, where N is the number of
players that did not own the corresponding type of Ribbon at the time of
the award. The amount payable for each type of Glitter is tracked in the
Tailor's weekly report.

[comment: Nonplayer persons can currently get Glitter, they don't need to
be able to though because it does nothing. N+1 becomes N/2 because Glitter
is currently the most powerful way to get coins, by far. ]

BUS: [Propopsal] Glitter is too valuable

2021-06-30 Thread Rebecca Lee via agora-business
There was a consensus on discord that glitter is too valuable. For example,
judging a CFJ gets you like 11 boatloads in addition to the regular reward
boatloads. How's that fair? I propose making all glitter grant 5 boatloads
of coins.

I create the following proposal.

Title: Reduce Sparkle by 50%!
AI: 3
Text
Amend rule 2438, "Ribbons' by removing the last paragraph (for clarity, I
mean the list item beginning with "- Otherwise")
[there's no reason for the part about glitter to be in the Ribbons rule.
The power 1 glitter rule can grant coins and it can take the definition of
what ribbons are from the higher power rule]

Amend rule 2602, "Glitter", so that it reads, in full
{Each type of Ribbon has a corresponding type of Glitter with the same
name. When a person qualifies for a Ribbon of a type they already have, any
player CAN award them the corresponding type of Glitter by announcement.
That notwithstanding, a person cannot receive glitter if e has already
received it five times in the last 24 hours, or if e has not come to earn
or qualify for that Glitter since the last time e received that type of
Glitter. When a player receives a type of Glitter, the Tailor CAN and in an
officially timely fashion SHALL once award them 5 boatloads of coins]

BUS: [@Notary] Revamping Lee's Card Shop

I amend (as the only party), the contract "Lee's Card Shop" so that it has
the following text.
{Any player may join or leave this contract at any time, by announcement.

Any party may act on behalf of R. Lee to execute the following transfers,
after transferring the specified assets to R. Lee. If R. Lee or the buyer
does not have any of the assets required to make a certain transfer, that
transfer cannot be made.

R. Lee can unilaterally add or subtract transfers to the following list at
any time - but not in order to thwart a transfer in progress or already
made.

1. R Lee gives 300 coins, R. Lee receives a Legislative Card
2. R. Lee gives a Victory Card, R. Lee receives 4000 coins
3. R. Lee gives 80 coins, R. Lee receives 2 pendants.

I intend to amend rule 2581 "Official Patent Titles" by replacing
"Contracts that achieve fun gameplay and significantly impacts Agora as a

"Contracts that achieve fun gameplay and significantly impact Agora as a

without objection.
