Re: I would so totally love to see an audio-based city builder Hi Samtupy. All your ideas sound awesome. I think this is something worth pursuing from what I've seen you definitley have the skill especially pulling off survive the wild. Plus if you finished the game you would go down in audiogames history as building the first accessible city builder.I have just a few things to suggest. First popularity is great but maybe also give the ability to talk to people who live in the city and see what they think about what your doing in the city. This would be hard if you were using voice actors but you can use tts voices to represent the people in yrur city. This will save you a lot of time in the long run. Next you could have crime rates rise in the city you create a police force but let's say new problems rise with creating the police force like officers beating crooks or becoming crooks themselves or things like that. You could also have people try to assassinate you and take over your city this could either be players on mu ltiplayer or npcs in the game itself. Another cool thing would be to make tourist attractions for your city to attract more people. On the other hand if you didn't want tourists in your city you just leave out tourist attractions like theme parks and such. However the people might get upset that there aren't things like theme parks in their city.Well that's all I've got. Please don't misunderstand I'm not trying to tell you what to do just throwing suggestions out there. Re: Audio games in the Web Browser Howler.js is just the audio. three.js looks really like a graphics library... I didn't see anything but maybe a clock that is useful for anything but Graphics. Thus saying, it would probably be a good thing to plug in for sighted developers to use.It is not you, in any 3d system, there are problems with sounds right next to you. It is like (1,0,0), (1, 1, 0) and (1, -1, 0).So when y is 1, 0 or -1, and x is 1 or -1, it is a little odd.You could google about how to grab touch gestures. Re: FYI: DRM is Evil. Very, Very, Very Evil
Re: FYI: DRM is Evil. Very, Very, Very Evil We'll see. Netflix are already losing customers for their most recent price hikes, but they claim VPN users are "a vocal minority". If I were the Netflix CEO I wouldn't regard the outrage I've seen on this issue as symptomatic of a "vocal minority", but when you're Netflix, I suppose losing a nation of subscribers and a few die-hard global movie-trotters is nothing. Especially when your revenues are still going up, if only just.So it only remains to wait and see if this peters out, or gets worse. Meantime, desperate times call for desperate measures, for those people who were formerly subscribers. I won't be taking that course of action while there are alternative providers, and as a matter of fact I never subscribed to Netflix because I prefer to own my content on discs, but I do hope this is a turning-point in the war against geoblocking. Re: Mac users: a final question
Re: Mac users: a final question So, this is where your XP VM comes in handy, if you need, like actually surgically require, the accessible MUDding experience (TM).Apple's "solution" to the problem of network updates is "turn on the mode that turns off the speech, and review manually". If you are happy doing this, then you can use the Mac just fine. But, for whatever reason, Apple hasn't generalised the case of an application with console output that can be updated at any moment over the network, without interrupting what was previously being said. Either an update occurs and you are informed, but no subsequent update happens, or no update is announced. You can find the control for this in the VoiceOver commands, type VO-H-H and search for "most" (in "most recent"). You'll need some Keyboard Commander control to use this on a regular basis.Nah, I don't MUD much anymore, either. Macs have that effect on people ...Good luck and have fu n. Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon
Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon Well, its mainly down to preference and play style you want. I have tried many combos and found druid/mage/cleric/war to be my personal best being able to solo very difficult mobs that usually need a group. I also disagree about druid minions, my liveoaks are far more effective than my necros apart from very powerful constructs and shadow fiends in certain situations. Druids also have very strong area spells and life saber in earth wall. However, again this is my preference and it works for me, but i will say i have had most fun on my druid. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 I've never really had to read PDF's with preview; I usually convert them to plane text. VoiceOver may have accessibility quirks, but I've found that the overall Mac OS accessibility with VoiceOver is much better than windows (especially compared to Windows 8 and 8.1). Not to mention that third-party apps are more accessible on Mac OS than on Windows. Also, if buttons in an app are unlabeled, any VoiceOver user can label them with a keystroke or gesture. Even if you're not fond of Mac OS, there are solutions like bootcamp and VMWare fusion. I don't even have to mention that Mac machines are more durable than even the most expensive Windows machine, in terms of both software (less viruses than Windows, no defragmenting of your hard drive, Etc.) and hardware. Regardless, it was only an example; there are others very like it. If you can find a brand of router that at least incorporates the modem and router, then you could cut it down to two devices. If you have to go name-brand, try and make it one that you can run DEWRT/OpenWRT on.I have one of these stand-up extension socket boards for providing power to multiple devices, but I only use it for low-current stuff. Don't load them too much, with computers or monitors. Usually it's safe to use them for just the wall warts (PSUs). Don't plug extensions into other extensions. Mine has 6 sockets. Re: FYI: DRM is Evil. Very, Very, Very Evil The problem is that the people at Netflix doesn't know what the right reasons are that they should be standing up for. What's needed is a member exodus like the one they experienced when they tried to crank up their rates a few years back. They lost about half their members when they tried that, and had to back track to stop the bleeding of their member base.Until that happens, all your crying, will unfortunately fall on deaf and uncaring ears. The same goes for Apple. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you.
Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. Oh yeah! I often wish that XP was still the defacto standard version of Windows. Even better would be Windows 2000! That was a lean and mean operating system. It had no eye or ear candy, was super stable, could play games, and was very fast, and could fit on half a CD and only needed 256MB to run.Even before I lost my vision I didn't like all the eye candy Microsoft was putting in Windows. To me a computer is a tool, it doesn't need to win any beauty contests, it just needs to be functional. So starting with Windows XP almost the first thing I do after installing Windows is to set the theme to Windows Classic. In XP I even whent so far as to disable the theme service after setting the theme to Windows Classic so the theme couldn't be changed. If it had been possible, I'd have removed all the theme crap.Something I discovered is that the code base that makes up Windows hasn't really gotten that much larger since Windows XP, the reason Windows Vista and later need a DVD instead of a CD as XP and earlier could fit on is because of the giggabytes of graphics and audio data that is needed to support the newer skinned user interfaces full of useless eye and ear candy. As far as I'm concerned,, all that eye and ear candy is just a useless and shameful waste of processor power. Re: I would so totally love to see an audio-based city builder This sounds something i'd be so totally intrested in making. I think I might be able to do a really good job with something like this. I saw the topic earlier today, and thought of ideas already. I am thinking of calling it citylife. You start with this huge empty plot of land and you get to turn it into things, add sport areas, partner with companies to get certain stores in your city, and kind of like park boss you'd have a general oface/management area. And basicly every so often, you can send out a letter to your residents mailboxxes seeing what they wanted done. If you had hardly any internet providers that were good, or your charging to much city taxes, or they have to go quite a ways to get gass for there cars, or they can never go out to eat because it's far away and they have to drive all that distance, all sorts of things, your residents won't be very happy with you. The longer you ignore peoples requests, the more your popularity goes down. Popularit y? Yes, this is going to be slightly multiplayer. There will also be single player whare you can just build a city on your own. But basicly you'd be able to partner with other cities and you could cell anything you make such as farming goods or anything like that and ship it to other cities that have been created on the game. You'd have to constantly monitor requests for houseland etc. You'll have to get some sort of police force, or your chrime rate will go way up and the only people that will be left are a bunch of crooks who will start tearing your city apart, smashing it's corperate buildings, trashing stores, etc. You could also go visit other peoples cities if you made yours on the server. Tell me what yall think? I plan on starting this project anyways because the idea of a game like that actually sounds extremely cool and I wanna take on the challenge of making something enjoyable, but do you guys think I should really pursue this? Re: Accessible cross platform development
Re: Accessible cross platform development Ah, I didn't check when the post was actually put up, sorry. I just knew that things had changed very recently there. Yeah, I think Xamrin Studio is tied to Mono Develop in some way, and the Mono Develop IDE did the same when I tried to use it with NVDA too. Which bothered me a lot. But if it can all be done in VS, then we might be all set. I'd love a project to work on making a cross platform somethingorother while I've got time this weekend... just to try all this new stuff out. Re: Open Source Audio Game
Re: Open Source Audio Game Hey there,It certainly has and to some degree of success, SoundRTS is open source and I've seen people contributing to it, and I've even contributed some very minor stuff to it myself. It's up there on Github, so it's as open source as anything else out there As to whether we could do more, absolutely! And I'd be interested. I worry about quarrelling, and such, but as long as people are mature about this, then it is indeed something we could do. Having tried to open-source blind tech of different types myself, it's also hard to get other people to contribute. But maybe I just seem like I bite or something! Now, the question is, what? Re: Audio games in the Web Browser
Re: Audio games in the Web Browser I am yeah, well I have some residual vision, but having worked in a sighted workplace with a _javascript_ guru who is sighted, he put me onto three.js. My only interest in that really is that three.js happens to have implemented 3D sound. My attitude here was really that the camera could also be thought of as a point of view, and the shapes as just a sound source. Ideally, I could even work with someone of a more visual persuasion to make the ideal, an audio game with nice visuals to boot that everyone could play, but that's miles and miles and miles and miles away. I thought of writing my own engine piggy-backing off of three.js, to wrap around some of the complexities, though I'm not even sure there's that many of them unless you stray into some of three.js's fancier visual shenanigans. But it sounds like the OP has some kind of plan for this, sorry I haven't read all the posts in this thread, lazy I know. Hmmm, I wonder if I coded it wrong somehow if it's going a bit wrong when it's next to you. This is all pretty new to me too, really, like I said it was to see if it was possible as much as anything. I've stalled, as I can't think how to fathom touch controls. Anyone here any good with those in a browser setting? I could use your help. Once I'm over that, I'll try and put together a proper prototype that showcases both 3D sound in browsers and proves it works on desktop and mobile. But... I'm getting way ahead of myself again. Apologies! It's just that this is all exciting. Re: FYI: DRM is Evil. Very, Very, Very Evil
Re: FYI: DRM is Evil. Very, Very, Very Evil Heh. Silly Netflix. This is all going to end in tears. And yes, they do get some of the blame. They have the market share; they should use it to twist the arms of the self-important arseholes who make this nonsense possible. Ditto Apple. But oh no, that money is just too damned important, and it's easier to follow orders than to show some balls and actually stand up to the studios for all the right reasons.Book for the blind on this matter by Jonathan Mosen: Imagine There's No Countries. And then, of course, there's the small matter of Netflix and others weaving DRM directly into HTML5. Bastards! This will all be over soon, like I said. There will be pain and suffering, but eventually, it will all be over. It has to. Continued use of DRM will, if nothing else, take on a more benign form, t hat doesn't involve the web or plug-ins, and isn't conditioned on silly geolocation tactics. Those whose interests align with DRM purveyors and who also make web browsers, like Apple, will probably not be long before realising the error of their ways because DRM in any form than a standalone application simply won't produce satisfactory results. There is a market out there of people who want--need--the content, and when you exclude an entire country you're just sending your users the middle finger. I can't wait to see what happens next. Re: Python development on the mac
Re: Python development on the mac I don't understand what you mean by the difference between NextDocumentNav and NextDocumentWindow. But in its default behaviour, it still works and reads stuff out from the right window. If you hold ctrl and keep hitting tab, it'll tell you what window you're about to move onto. You can also hold control after hitting tab and arrow around that weird window thing that comes up, I don't know what it's called but I remember trying to script NVDA to understand it once but failed miserably. Most seem to have made that window accessible now. Is that the sort of thing you mean?Still interested if anyone has any ways of doing Python on a Mac btw. Though I'm happy to discuss VS as well. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13
Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 Funny this topic should come up, I was only just now reading about the Dell XPS line, probably because of the revamped MacBook and people comparing them. From those, at least, I'd say Mac because it's clear Apple care about build quality where Dell are still making compromises left, right and centre. The apologists on the opposing side, of course, argue that machines nowadays are disposable and with the outlay you could just keep replacing your machine. You should choose accordingly, but based on my preferences and my computing estate (all Mac), I'd say Mac, even if you run Windows on it.But wait for WWDC, first. That's due next on June 13. At that time, it is rumoured, Apple will put out some new shiny-shiny. Caution: likely Haswell, which would mean you were exposed to Microsoft's forced end-of-support on Win7/8/8.1.As for Apple and the increasingly mediocre accessibility of OS X: I think there's some truth in this, sadly. There is a d ecided slowness of pace for accessibility-related bug fixes, and even I am starting to have difficulty endorsing the Mac without adding in the appropriate caveats and "Buyer beware!". I like to think that this is simply the overall neglect of OS X following Apple's obvious change of direction, rather than accessibility specifically, but nevertheless it's quite noticeable to those of us who've been around on the Mac platform for a while. This is expressed well by this piece on AppleVis and the subsequent commentary. My main machine is using Yosemite just to get activities working, and I have Windows VMs on standby so I can do all the things. It's still not enough of a reason for me to stop endorsing these wonderful machines, and it's not throwing your money away as long as you can run Windows on them and OS X's virtues extend well beyond accessibility anyway (show me your system-wide spell checker, Windows apologists!), but for the use cases provided it's not a question of which software but which hardware, and for my money Mac is the clear winner here (again). Obviously, a Windows machine is more than capable of doing PDF viewing and Word doc editing, and there's no question that the Windows solutions to these problems are both excellent. So really, you're looking to personal preferences and what you think you'll appreciate rather than actual necessity. As others have said, the combination of OS X and Windows on great hardware is awesome, and it's why I'm still using Macs. OS X is still solid, Windows shines brightly on Macs or in virtual machines, Macs are built to last (I have yet to see any OEM come close--you'd have to self-build to match it), and as a blind user you'll enjoy more independence than you ever could with a WinTel device. Re: death match project alpha
Re: death match project alpha Hi danny.Hmmm not sure to be honest, ofcause whenever I did manage to play even when I had time, my issue was always finding a team. You in theory needed a lot more crew than you got.So in theory, you would need a missiles guy, a phaser guy, a few turret guys and a plazma guy and that was just for weapons.Idealy for full performance you needed to have like several to man the weapons deck and the like.On the planet cracker, types I guess you could yhave double ups, I mean you would need someone to handle serface opps and also ship ops to crack.and that person would have to pull in all the rocks and such with the processer that was doing shipboard but you could have someone to do that. Then you needed someone to process but then again your serface guy could do it all once he had handled his job inbetween you wouldn't need many crew bar an enginier while underway.I found it hard to even run a full mission, it didn't help t hat a lot of missions did not happen in what was my day time so while I did manage a few not so much.Teamwork never worked as such either. You did your own nitch which was fine. The biggest thing in dmnb was mining resources.Yes you could crack planets to get more, and yes you could walk round but it was based on roleplays and such which was actually a good idea but with only 1 team doing it all it was hard.Once you go active we really do need more teams to handle at times when those from that side of the world are actually up.Ofcause with me life got in the way as it does still sometimes I'd have time and logon, only to find that no one was active on the server.Or I'd log on and nothing was going to happen.Or I would log on and suddenly it would be in the small hours and I had to get off just as it got interesting.I would also like to eventually if I was able to afford it buy things or make things to make my job easier.< br />Ie have a carrior or a big ship drop say a mining drone or miner or something near a rock field them spend time mining. While I realise that could be abused especially if the thing could get back to where ever itself, maybe have it notify by email if it needed picking up and have it modify your nav on your ship and get you to get it.Yes it could be abbused but I'd like the ability that while I was sleeping my online character could do some of the boring grinding work old dmnb had, because lets face it mining is really crappy and boring but it needs to be done.problem there is not much to do while doing.I know you probably against npc generated characters, but having things planet side to do, exploring missions objectives, deliveries planet side as well as space would be good. And then events in space, attacks, distress signals, interesting discoveries, have an asteroid come up at you while underway and you hitting it and needing to fix things, t hat could have exploring with that and other such things. There are the derelict things to finding and salvaging it is good, and maybe take it back so you can fix things and get it working, but others that wanted the ship may want it to and may try to take it from you, some may trade for it. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13
Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 hi.I would deffinitely go for the dell. I've had two dell laptops in my life, one of them was still working fine after five years untill it was stolen and the one that I have now. I bought it in 2011 and the only time I took it to repairs was when it needed a cleaning because it was beginning to heat up. most of the issues with windows aren't related to hardware as far as i'm concerned, you just have to find a good antivirus that suits you. I wouldn't buy a mac because I see no point in buying an expensive machine just to have two operating systems on it, what's available on mac is available on windows as well. I also hate the restrictions that mac imposes on the users, the best example is only one screen reader... I like to use what screen reader I think is best for me not what apple thinks. you will find only few audio games for mac, if I were to buy a mac it would be a big issue for me because I like to play the new games that appear o n the market not just read about them. yes, macs are durable, but so are dell laptops in my opinion and you can get them at half the price of a mac. I've even dropped my inspiron n5010 2 times and except for a few scratches and a damaged corner everything works fine.many programs that you can find for free in windows have to be bought on mac, and it's very hard to cheat around this issue on a mac than on a windows machine. I might switch to mac one day but sofar I haven't seen a single thing that is convincing enough for me to switch. ah and let's not forget the ridiculous prices for their pieces, if something gets damaged you will have to pay a lot more than for a dell piece, I just replaced my charger for about 20 bucks, that would cost atleast double for a mac. I don't blame them at all, but given that XP is still filling a need for some people, I'd say it was rather unfortunate. I wonder how long Firefox will hold out.Apple obsolete operating systems faster because back-compatibility isn't the same priority it is in the WinTel world. Yes, there wer e more releases, and yes, those releases were tied to certain hardware, at the earliest, which means that new hardware pushes you onto a new release. But ultimately, Apple are simply quite ruthless in dropping obsolete software. They don't want to be lumbered with supporting it. In the case of OS X (or MacOS) that's not such a big deal because Apple doesn't change everything, again, every five minutes. But it also means that if your hardware is no longer supportable with newer software due to an architecture change, well, you're SOL. It is here that Windows, with its ever-lasting compatibility, comes in handy. Or did--it's not clear to me that contemporary Windows is, in fact, so different from OS X, anyway. If only Microsoft would have stuck with that interface and simply enhanced it instead of creating more eye candy and lots of unnecessary crap. Who ever said Windows 7 is the new XP is correct. I don't know if I agree, since 7 just feels like a glorified Vista to me. Either way, Windows is in my past. If Microsoft doesn't care to provide an adequate screen reader and relies on third parties, I'm done. Everyone else has done the right thing. Narrator still has a ways to go. How about a talking installer anyone? Hint hint?Still, XP is awesome! I don't care if it's no longer supported. THe fact is that it has revived an old Mac that Apple simply threw away back when Lion came out. I'm not going to use the OS as my daily driver, but for playing some games and running other offline programs, it works just fine. I'm honestly surprised Dropbox and Firefox still work. Why is it that applications still work on a 14 year old operating system, but don't work on Snow Leopard, which is just about as old as 7? Is it that Apple cranks out way too many versions? It's funnny like that. Re: Goodbye Windows XP, i still get nistalgic over you. I for one say about time! Say what you will about the later versions of Windows (and there's plenty wrong with them, as with everything), XP is well and truly done. I mean just look at an XP installation disk; each individual system file is zip-compressed instead of being in an image or package file, how illogical. Re: some bgt issues
Re: some bgt issues Hi there,For a while the sound pool confused me too, but I will try to explain how it works.Imagine you have your little game. Now, imagine every single sound that needs to play is a sound object.Sound gun, step, amb, enemyloop, enemytaunt;Etc.If your game was tiny, this would totally work. However, once things start to get more dynamic (I.E.), you need a lot of sounds to play all at once, the sound pool will be a lot more useful for panning things in the background for you. What's probably got you confused are so called sound slots. Imagine your phone with all its applications on its home screen. You only want to use the calculator app, so you move your focus around until you find it, then activate it.In the same way, when you want the sound pool to keep track of one particular sound, you can give it a sound slot to keep track of.int gun, step, amb, enemyloop, enemytaunt; Now when you want to assign one of these t o a sound slot, you would do:gun=pool.play_stationary("insert_path_to_sound_here/insert_sound_name_here.wav", false, false);Possibly confusing? I'll do my best to try and clear that confusion up.What that basically says is, assign the sound slot, gun, to a sound of your choosing, in between the quotation marks. After the quotation marks comes. False, false); This specifies. Non looping (I.E.), only plays once. Never set a one shot sound looping sound to true, or else some interesting things could happen. The second false specifies non persistent, I.E., when this sound finishes playing, its slot is freed ready to be used again.Think of it like downloading an update file to your phone, but once the update gets installed, the package file gets deleted.Rough I know, but its really the best I could possibly think of.For panning, the methods you will need are play_1d or play_2d, update_listener_1d, or update_listener_2d.This all depends on if your game is true 1d or 2d, I.E., in a sidescroller with true jumps or a game with all 4 directions of movement, or 1d, a sidescroller.Keep in mind the listener, that's you. The listener is your point of view. The sound x is where the sound should come from. You should never really need to use the play_extended methods unless you have really specific requirements.I hope this helps, write in if you need more help. Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon
Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon Bearing in mind that I haven't played AA since June 2015, I really enjoyed my NMCWTD combo. Druid being last was more a product of the class' release timing against my class structure, rather than intentional design, but that combo let me solo tons of tough mobs and areas that people didn't think could be done without a group.Necro as your primary will give you tons of great minions, and mage secondary will give you enough blasting power to assist your minions, with just enough cleric abilities to tend to wounds.I find that flesh beasts and bone guardians make just as good of tanks as the other tank minions which require 2 CP rather than 1. Applied with some forethought, they will resist things quite well, and are easily replaceable. Flesh beasts are great if you're going up against mobs primarily dealing blunt damage, while bone guardians are great against pierce (I think). My memory on their specifics is slightly vague, but it worked quite well for me -- I used to use bone guardians and flesh beasts in high level areas, resorting to woads and constructs only for particularly hard hitting mobs. You'll find a lot of contradicting opinions on the matter, simply because there are several playstyles to choose from, and everyone is going to promote their personal preference. My own class order may not suit you, but it definitely did suit my very solo playstyle -- I rarely ever grouped in my entire AA lifetime, from tot 1 to tot 129.Hope you find a combination which does fit your preference.Kai URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=257727#p257727 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 Or just use VmWare on the Mac. But really, if you want a good solid computer that will last for years, get a Mac. If you wanna spend your days trying to play Japanese games which you can barely discern … Thanks autocorrect for fixing that … then get either a Mac and run VmWare, or get the Dell and have to get it fixed every six months or so. Also, if you have a speech synthesis fetish, you can have fun with all the MacinTalk voices, plus all the Nuance voices as well. Yes, even Ava, Alison, Vina and all the other new ones. But if you’re an Eloquence junky, either use VmWare with your fresh new license of Jaws, or your … smuggled copy of Eloquence for NVDA, because the CodeFactory version is crap, so I’ve heard, or just buy your lovely new Dell, and hope that nothing happens to it, because unlike a virtual machine, you can’t return to a working snapshot if Windows breaks itself. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13
Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 Hi, I personally own a macbook and have used windows pcs in the past, so here's my view:1. Voiceover does have issues, but so does windows. I'm honestly not experienced enough with voiceover to say more than that. The only thing I will say is that mac recovery is lots and lots easier than windows. Voiceover works on the recovery partition, which is a big life savor. That said, I've personally found mac books not to be great windows pcs. It's true that they're fast, but they can have lots of minor issues. Additionally, you can't run any windows version below 8 on new mac books.Long story short:1. If you want to use osx as your main operating system, buy a mac.2. If you think you want to use windows a lot, get the dell. Re: Digital Voice Recorders
Re: Digital Voice Recorders That's correct, all I want it for is to record short notes, memos, and reminders.I ended up getting The Wilson. It sounded like just what I needed and was only $35.The company irritated me though. They claim The Wilson is designed for the visually impaired, but while that is for the most part true, there were problems. In order to learn how to use The Wilson you'll need a sighted helper to read their extremely poor instructions and translate them into something you can understand without sight. Even with a sighted helper, the instructions are so bad that some experimenting will be needed to figure it out because two of the controls are never documented. The manual goes on to describe how to hook The Wilson up to your computer via USB so you can use your PC to manage your recordings, though that is not required. The Wilson provides everything you need to do very basic recording management. The problem is, no USB cable is provided, and it's just as well because there is no port to blug it into on The Wilson. It's my feeling that until they correct the errors in their manual and provide an accessible version of it, this company shouldn't be advertising the product as designed for the visually impaired.I considered getting one of the Olympus models, but the only models I could find favorable reviews regarding the device's accessibility were for older models that are no longer available unless you want to buy used, which I didn't. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 I am going to have to agree with poster 10 here. Although mac OS X is definitely a usable product, the fact that numerous bugs (see applevis) have been spotted and some tend to go unfixed for literally years prevents me from actually recommending this product at all. If you use braille, there's all sorts of starnge focusing issues going on when you actually try to use your braille's navigation keys. Vocalizer voices still tend to go chipmunk now and again , a problem first encountered in Lion. Switching interaction methods, one of the big new features in VoiceOver for EL Capitan, will often get your VoiceOver cursor stuck without any reason. VoiceOver will randomly lock up for a number of seconds and say 'busy' all the time while nothing of significance is actually going on. Web support for the latest web standards is horrible, PDF can only be read in a very basic way ...I could go on for a while yet. If you want to just play around, maybe sky pe some peeps now and again and want to spend a lot of meony , get a mac. If you actually want to be productive, do not. Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon Yeah, seems whatever the actual adaptation is, most of us who have posted on here are in agreement for the necro class being primary, though I'm personally with Xoren for the most part. NMC or NCM both have their advantages, though I prefer NMC for earlier displacement, more mana and quicker mana regeneration. if, as far as updated mobs go, the rock dragon has been updated, methinks I'll have to go after him again sometime soonish and see if I can still speak as highly as I always have of the necro class.Honestly, I thinkt the hardest thing with necro soloing is sometimes working up the nerve to go into higher level areas and staying calm about it. In terms of HP, necros do seem rather squishy, but training con early on and learning to adapt and remain aware of the situations you're up against do pay off, remembering what minions you might be able to use where and against who, what equipment will best suit you against whatever you're fig hting and so on. Once upon a time, finding lower level necro gear worth keeping was a struggle, which arguably made minions next to useless as you progressed through alter. Today, I'm fairly certain you can have a full necrocast set by level 21, and tons of extra equipment lying around for druids to add cool changes to. if you're still missing something, the donation pits in Naphtali and gad's are worth checking out. Never underestimate the powerful uses of lower level equipment. Would I ever use a necro as a player killer? Probably not, but player killing has never appealed to me personally. Soloing, on the other hand... I don't find there is any place I won't at least try once. Grouping is something I've only done occasionally since groups are a hit and miss kind of thing; I'd say I've actually led more groups than I've followed, and I've yet to get anyone who has actually listened to me killed... I promise to let you know when that happens, since it really isn't a matter of if it actually will. Re: Dell XPS 13 or Macbook Pro 13 hi.no, forget ...only the very basic voice over on the mac, on this time, it's a shame ...all users of voice over on the Mac, you know what I mean ...many, many issues to voice over on the mac.I will not even answer the people who criticize me to my post.I've had a imac, and I know exactly what I say.I had to sell it because I had no more patience to deal with all the voice over problems.Apple is not concerned with the VO of issues on the mac.who say that this is not true, is lying.I warned...cheers. Re: Python development on the mac
Re: Python development on the mac @truecraig: sorry to go off topic..., but you implied that you have a good experience with visual studio. What screen reader do you use with it? Despite me filing many bugs last summer, virtually no progress has been made in fixing them, so I'm getting the impression that accessibility is a non priority, so I'd describe visual studio as being only usable. This is a shame as some of the upcoming technologies like the universal windows runtime requires VS to work. Re: Suggestions for going solo on Alteraeon @Xoren: [[wow]], you have an identical class build as me.@Dark: you'll need either a lot of patience, or a bot to do lightcatcher farming. Druids are very dependent on them (especially suncatchers at lower levels). You'll probably be disappointed, as KeyWasFull said, if you choose druids purely for minions.
