why you may not need or want a huge professional looking computer mic.

For those who go out and spend like 200 bucks on a huge microphone that you plug in to your noisy as all hell old computer to do some professional voice or music recording, my question to you is this. Do you really need that? Why be held in one or two places by having to hold that huge mic, and a laptop? People seam to really like computer microphones, maybe because it looks professional, or as I will say here, maybe they have no need for something else, and actually just need a mic for there computer.My thoughts are this. computers can be noisy when they want to be. Question is, do you really want that piece of machineery, fan spinning, hard drive  possibly  turning, perhaps taking it's last breaths before going out for ever, processer going, near your recording set up? In my case, the answer is, ah hell na!! Why would anyone. If your working in music, it may make some sence, maybe you need to record yourself and you need the music to go along with. Personally, I would, and probably will, take a hand held recorder far far away from my computer to a room with no other loud sound, bring up the music track on my phone, plug a head set in to said phone, and start recording.But what if your recording something else, that you don't need a computer for? I will, and have, done the same thing.Now, if your doing gaming, there are obvius reasons I would say go for a good sounding, or at least passable computer microphone. But for those who don't need a computer near them, I say, maybe take the extra step.If not a computer mic, than what? Perhaps a hand held recorder. One that sounds good. Some cancome in handy for  quite an array of different situations.If you are professional and have something better, then stay with that. If you’re not, perhaps consider this.

To be honest daisy, I suspect the reason a lot havn't really thought about sound design is the sheer cost of getting started.I do have a lot of sfx, but without the gdc bundles, effects I pulled from games and effects that came from production companies I was able to get by sheer luck, as well as several effects I was able to buy, to get good effects can be expensive.Next are the costs and space.I do not have a mac or will probably be able  to afford one which is where a lot of sound and music stuff is done on.Before reeper, you needed soundforge or similar and while I doodled with  cracked coppies in years past there is no way I'd seriously be able to afford the price for professional sound editing software.If that was good well and good I guess I could try, but there is the hardware, several soundcards, mixers, a dedicated machine.Laptops really don't cut it to make sounds on really and then microphones.Finally there is space.All my stuff fits in shelves and desk in my bedroom, I don't have the space nore cash for any dedicated studio or anything like that.And sure while I have doodled about with soundrecorder and putting stuff together that fits, I don't have all the hardware to really do that much.I have a couple field recorders but they have their own issues to.Technically I do have some good andriea headsets with a mic but I don't have anything over 50 bucks us, I don't have space for all the powerfull mics and hardware I would really need to be serious.I don't have a mixer, digital board and the many soundcards I would need, a lot of the pro guys have at least 2-3 cards, I guess technically I have 2 cards if you call the raw no frill cheap card that comes with my headset and my old and quite outdated creative sb play 1 which still works but has its own issues.I am also unsure about accessibility of some stuff.If this was an ideal world, I'd have jaws as well as nvda for accessing everything but its not.There is a lot of things I am not to sure about.Now if its just reeper, and maybe a virtual audio cable maybe I can afford the cards, I can get a cheap no frill card for 10 bucks and have another like it.I have a small windows workstation, and some mics but nothing that expensive, no blue yetis or anything.While I have made some sfx I'd hardly call them comercial though some people have used them and they do work for certain things but only certain things.

No there will be no more updates on the testament of truth as his work here on earth has been completed. He has returned to his eternal heavenly abode. There are still many people who will never believe in the message he brought to us and that is unfortunate. I respect that you have a lot going on, but I strongly suggest considering giving the game a rewrite.I would be glad to contribute in any way I can, whether it be ideas ETC should you consider it.@post85... What's the point of having a game with no difficult bosses?It's only my opinion, but if you get a new game that's just been released, surely you want a bit of challenge and achievement to it, rather than getting all the best equipment and becoming OP early on and taking all the fun out of the game.

I don't view having to train yourself to learn menu positions and use poorly implemented sound cues as playable. Sure, you may be able to play 20% of the game, but there's a lot you're missing out on.I applaud those who have enough patience to do this, but it's not worth it in my view if I have to spend forever learning how to do a simple task that everyone else can pick up immediately. It's time these games and their developers made a little more effort to enhance the experience for those of us with nonfunctional eyeballs. I bet you if these developers personally knew someone who was blind, their accessibility tune would change completely.

Ahh, exams. Oh, how I don't miss them. Luckily for me, our high school switched to online learning. And while the platform itself is not the most accessible thing ever, that's balanced out by not having to take exams, or finals, as we call them. But yeah, I sure did used to hate end of year tests. Over here, we'd get a big old one that was handed out by the state. I only had to take that up until the 8th grade though. When I got to ninth grade, I started having to do finals, which were teacher-compiled tests that are usually about 70 questions. But I didn't have to put up with that nonsense for too long. In my sophomore year, my school did that online learning thing.  We couldn't have finals because the online learning was all self-paced, and if they gave us finals, they couldn't make sure everyone had learned the same amount of stuff, not like they could when they actually taught us themselves. But unfortunately, I still have to take things like the A C T, if only to secure my ticket to a good college. And I take what are known as dual credit courses, which are college classes at a nearby campus which count for one high school class credit, but also count towards college hours as well, so you have less to do when you get there. Personally, math is a huge problem. I suck at it, and so I'm getting all my math classes out of the way now while I still have the asistance of a TVI to make things like graphs accessible. Unfortunately, this program has never dealt with a blind person before, so the college's Accesibility resource Center has no idea how to help me with that. Anyway, I still get finals in college. They aren't as hard as I thought, though.

@Xoren, excellent post, I fully agree with you on that one. I don't know a topic that has had civil discussion be closed for some reason or another thus far; someone has always started drama in that topic resulting in it being locked. As for the demarcation thing, I do believe that there is a placeand a time for everything, and the AG.NET forum is *not* the place for that. If we want a place for that, we could always set that stuff up on the main website, like a sidenote of sorts.

what is the point of this thing, if you wanted to mix sounds, why wouldn't you just use Goldwave or Reaper or something. Also, why would you need a pack creator for making sounds, I get that you would if you wanted to create a pack file for a game, but this thing just seems kind of pointless.

Like there are two groups, who are against eachother, and both of them try to make the other's opinion impossible to tell. I'm not against you or anything, but we can't always have positive opinions about everything. It's just how life goes.Maybe I haven't read all the posts, but I've yet to see evidence of Jade doing this. If Jade really wanted to silence people's opinions, he would've deleted the topics, rather than just closing them. What I've observed Jade doing is quelling the flames of drama, which to my understanding, MasterOfDeath really would rather fan than extinguish. I (for one) am glad that the moderators are trying to make the Audiogames forum not at home to drama and bickering. Can anyone please point out a topic which the moderators closed that was full of productive exchange rather than dramatic sniping and flaming? If so, I'll retract my defense of the current moderation efforts.I realize there are forums such as 4chan which promote drama and rivalry, but if you like that environment of discussion, there are plenty of other avenues for that kind of strifemaking. I prefer a well moderated forum where we're more concerned with games than one another's dramatic explosions.In an unrelated note, I saw above that even some moderators were considering or wishing there were a way to mark various developers as untrustworthy. I'm very much against this mindset. While I agree that users should be made aware of an unscrupulous person, I don't think it's the job of the forum to get into policing.For one, the policing is relegated to the efforts of a few people. This basically means that a moderator with a vendetta against a particular individual could elect to mark them as untrustworthy. While it's true enough that other moderators could later fix this issue, for the interim where such a demarcation is allowed to stand, anyone could come along and see it, and knowing no better, believe the erroneous developer report.It also falls a bit too closely towards the anti character assassination clause which the forum should be upholding. It's one thing for users to criticize a developer, but it's another thing for that developer to be unequivocally denounced as a bad developer by the site's staff.(Slightly off-topic tangent) To extend this even further, remember that even the moderators had an issue with users expressing negative opinions about the Golden Gun game, and so far as I can tell, those opinions were pretty civil, if repeated. I myself see nothing wrong with a repeated opinion, but it was such a big point in the topic about toxicity on the forums that I think it bears some lighting upon. There's nothing wrong with multiple users expressing the same opinion. The moment we start saying X Y and Z's already expressed that opinion, please don't add to it with yours, you're beginning to devalue the opinions of your users. Would you make the same stance against repeated opinions if several other users has already said this game is great, for example?Ultimately, I think we need to leave the _expression_ of opinions about developers to the users, leaving Audiogames.net to be a discussion forum, rather than a place to evaluate and demarcate developers into acceptable and unacceptable divisions. Lets just get in some good games.Kai

I won't be using the term kilohertz because it's easier to use larger numbers than ask people to convert in their head - and most equalisation graphs do not use kilohertz, they just use hertz in large numbers. I think because we have to remember certain parts of the EQ graph, it's important to not add another step of logic/conversion in there. So you're quite right in what you're saying and it seems what I am saying is unclear!

It's hard to just sit by and accept that Mason can get away with what he's doing. That's my thing, and no this isn't an attempt to stir it back up again, here's what I'm saying. I get the staunch opposers' views about it's only a game, why get so upset over a game, etc. Yeah, it is and it isn't. I agree, none of us *need* games. But let me remove your research paper you've been working on for a week, or let me get rid of that beat you've been working on casually for a month or so. Let me get rid of some of the stuff you put lots of work into and see how you feel about it. I'm not one of the ones out here saying that the game needs to be up until the end of time. I get that's not possible to do. What I am saying is that people put hours into making those maps and now they're just gone. Also, 2DP is an offline game with some of the same, actually, much of the same aspects about it. The maps could actually be ported over to 2DP as long as you took all the sources that are in SBYW and not in 2DP and changed them over to 2DP sounds. My point is, people lost a lot of their work. Now, to play devil's advocate, they damn well could have backed up those maps, thus making that argument null and void. The builder is nice, but it can't undo stuff, or say, I made a mistake, I need to shift this entire platform right by one, it can't do that. So, in those instances, what you have to do is ask the server for the code and it will send it to you in a chat message, copy pasta into notepad and edit, then with a prefix command to let the server know you're sending map code, you paste back in. But there's no reason people couldn't have then backed those files up. You have the whole version control thing, like maybe reverted to a previous version after the server goes down, but you could back up over a few days, or every day or what have you.To me, at least, it's the principle of the thing. And it's not so much him being him, look at how other people are going to be looking at him. There are a lot of young people coming up now wanting to get into game development. What if they like Mason and decide to act like that. He's a role model for them whether he knows it or not. Because there are so very few developers that make good, fun, and compelling games, he could easily be seen as a favorite one, because he is a talented coder and his games are usually fun. Also, there's just something that bothers me about someone who thinks they can just act like that and skate on by without dealing with any consequences. I see him turning into the next Danny and damn that's sad to see. I think he needs validation from us or he wouldn't be here, because yeah a few years ago, the community really did hurt him badly, this was when I wasn't in the know, wasn't into audio games, etc. So, I can't speak to any great detail except what I've had told to me, but yeah. I get him having no love for this community, but then, why even develop for it. OK, he's made that choice, but only apparently, because he disappears, comes back, and repeats this over and over.I guess I do just have to let it go, I'm not good at that, one kid we caught trying to steel my brother's bike and I chased that little turd muffin a long way, I didn't plan on hurting him, just putting the fear of god into him. Also yeah, since this was a bit unclear I want to make it clear, I'm not about hurting Mason, as in, I don't want the dude to actually die, or to kill himself or any of that. I do want him to own up to his BS, but I don't want to see any harm befall him.

Without more information about your code it will be harder to give very detailed info, but I can think of two ways of representing a map:1. Have a 2d array, for each coordinate have a value indicating what tile it is / any other properties2. Have a list of objects such as walls, and write a function given values x and y which determines which object is on that square.First method is simpler and works well for small maps, second method is somewhat more complicated but especially if you have large objects it'll work better with larger maps.Now I don't remember how vgstorm games did this exactly but didn't they just scan directly to the left, directly in front, directly behind and directly to the right? if so you'll have to write a function given a min x, min y, max x, max y range which returns the coordinates of a wall if it is present and -1 otherweise with the assumption that your min coordinates are 0,0.With the first map implementation this will require a loop, with the second the function shouldn't be that different from the single value function. In fact, you don't need a single value function, just pass the same values to the min and max variables.

If I do any other movies, I will happily donate those as well for I have quite a few that I could possibly do.There is a bug that I'd like to report.   when I browse for content, when going to  page 2, it is not alwyas page 2 of the que'd content, but instead sometimes, it seems to be a random pae.EG: If I type in 2002 for the search,  I get the first page of movies from 2002, ut the second page is not movies from 2002, but other random stuff from somewhere else in the list.

The Blank Game1, does have replay value. Once you beat it, go to the bookstore in Milltown and choose the last option. This a book that will let you change the difficulty of the game. Do note, however, that the enemies you fight are all in Japanese and correspond to a japanese game called Alternative Magic. I wrote the game using the source for Alternative Magic, so the enemy names will all be what they would've been in that game. If you can ignore that, however, just play the game like you did before. Also, I'm posting this now so people don't get confused. Their are orbes in this game you can attack once and they'll be gone. In Alternative Magic, the orbes were supposed to stop you from progressing until you got the propper spell to destroy them. So, when I make the orbes so you could just attack them, only now did I realize that players could miss a whole bunch of the story. So, here is the list of events ware orbes shouldn't be destroyed until other times. Between Exponents and Math Place: first, you will need to go to the side road between Pamboo and the Small Village, and do math to get light type magic.Math Place: first, go to the ruins, beat the boss, then go to the main street after beating it. You can then destroy the orbe at the entrance of the Math Upgrade Cave. Entrance of Math Upgrade: do not! Destroy it until you've completed the ghost ship! The moonlight tower is in the place with the town houses. I think that's all of them. Just pay attention to the story. It tells you ware you're going next, so search around the towns before leaving! Some of what the people say is also in Japanese, but no one gives you any skills or items, or advances the story, so you don't need to talk to them. Well, accept Trump in Exponents. Go ahead and talk to Trump and see what happens!

I have been busy adding movies and tv shows to the website, and I am really glad to say that we have come to a point where we have movies before the bmmv does, for now, anyway. and tv shows, yes you heard it right, new tv shows as well. The 2 people that have been really helpful and a huge support are poppop66151 and kool_turk with all the movies and tv shows they have been helping the vault with.G-Rad has also been kind enough to share his own audio descriptions of the home alone and major pain if I am remembering right. I am in the process of uploading new tv shows and movies as I write this, and finally I believe we are getting somewhere. Moderators - I put it here and not in the developers section because I want people to come across this thread, who have never considered sound design before. Many people don't go into the developer section at all because they think it's too inaccessible or they'd just never considered making their own content - I want people to stumble across this and imagine themselves as sound designers.It will be hosted on YouTube. I encourage commenting on the videos, but I will be assigning tasks for you to complete and show me. If you are uncomfortable with posting your work on YouTube, you can post it here. You can send me direct messages if you're really uncomfortable, but if I'm answering 30+ direct messages each video it will take up a lot more time than commenting in threads. Warnings: 1. Don't publish/sell content if the sound requires a license you don't have2. Use speakers if possible in the beginning. If you hit a wrong button you could increase volume to a dangerous level. This could damage your ears especially if you're using in-ear headphones. The human ear can handle short bursts of incredibly high volume as long as the distance isn't close to the ears. Keep your sound at 25-50% maximum in the system settings of the computer. You will not be able to hurt your ears if you take this precaution. It's important to know how Hertz behave also. Hertz are the literal measurement of a soundwave - the lower the number, the longer the wave, and the lower the pitch of that sound. The male human vocal range is around 85hz to 180hz, while the female is  around 160hz to 255hz.  However, many consonants we use in speech occur around the 1,000hz to 3,000hz range and some higher. This is what I meant about behaviour - picture a soundwave as long as your arm. Let's pretend that soundwave is 1,000hz. (I'm saying pretend because it's pointless to know how large soundwaves are, spatially, for our purpose so honestly I don't know if that's correct and it doesn't matter, we're just using it as a case example to illustrate the beahviour of hz.)So one soundwave as long as your forearm, elbow to wrist, it's 1,000hz. If we now imagine a soundwave that is 2,000hz, that means two of them can fit lengthwise on your forearm, and the pitch that sound makes is twice as high, or an octave, above the first sound. Let's imagine another set of soundwaves, at 4,000hz. Four can fit lengthwise on your forearm, and they're yet again another octave above, or twice the pitch. The next set would be 8,000hz and 8 can fit on your arm. So the point is - a sound will double in pitch/note/octave if its measurement of hz. doubles. That's very important to know, because the sound spectrum seems as though we humans have an incredible capacity for hearing if the human range only takes up a hundred hz or so, and we can hear all the way up to 20,000hz. Not so. Another case example - a man is singing a note at 150hz. If we record and process that note up to 300hz, it's an octave above/twice the pitch. If we do it again, 600hz, that's two octaves above. 1200hz is three, 2400hz is four, 4800hz is five, 9600hz is six, 19200hz is seven and suddenly we're out of our range of hearing.

How much by way of extra events etc are there in the adventure mode? Ie how much longevity does the game have? I tried the free version, and it was fun for what it was, but I couldn't escape the feeling that progress was essentially limited by the fact that after you've got to the point your dog can swim in the river and you've bought the toys etc your just racking up score for its own sake by performing continuous actions. If the game had award meddles, different dog types to unlock through continuous play  or something to work for  would be glad to give it a try, but I do hesitate to pay 12 or so dollars for something which has a simple static progression over a few days and then no definitive end or final state. Indeed, this seems a regular problem with many of the blindfold titles, opting for customised games of various types rather than progressively playable games, despite some excellent mechanics (I was quite surprised how much fun I found Blindfold pool)

you need the gunnery menu to equip weapons. press g. then press enter on each weapon and then arrow right then press enter. the onboard computer will say weapon installed where weapon is the name of the laser.have you checked to see that the weapon you wish to install is compatible with your ship or even if your ship has bays/turrets? to repair a ship go to a shipyard. go to the trade menu. any damaged ships you have will show right at the top. buy the repairs like you would any product. press enter when you've made the max selection possible.

It's important to know how Hertz behave also. Hertz are the literal measurement of a soundwave - the lower the number, the longer the wave, and the lower the pitch of that sound. The male human vocal range is around 85hz to 180hz, while the female is  around 160hz to 255hz.  However, many consonants we use in speech occur around the 1,000hz to 3,000hz range and some higher. This is what I meant about behaviour - picture a soundwave as long as your arm. Let's pretend that soundwave is 1,000hz. (I'm saying pretend because it's pointless to know how large soundwaves are, spatially, for our purpose so honestly I don't know if that's correct and it doesn't matter, we're just using it as a case example to illustrate the beahviour of hz.)So one soundwave as long as your forearm, elbow to wrist, it's 1,000hz. If we now imagine a soundwave that is 2,000hz, that means two of them can fit lengthwise on your forearm, and the pitch that sound makes is twice as high, or an octave, above the first sound. Let's imagine another set of soundwaves, at 4,000hz. Four can fit lengthwise on your forearm, and they're yet again another octave above, or twice the pitch. The next set would be 8,000hz and 8 can fit on your arm. So the point is - a sound will double in pitch/note/octave if its measurement of hz. doubles. That's very important to know, because the sound spectrum seems as though we humans have an incredible capacity for hearing if the human range only takes up a hundred hz or so, and we can hear all the way up to 20,000hz. Not so. Another case example - a man is singing a note at 150hz. If we record and process that note up to 300hz, it's an octave above/twice the pitch. If we do it again, 600hz, that's two octaves above. 1200hz is three, 2400hz is four, 4800hz is five, 9600hz is six, 19200hz is seven and suddenly we're out of our range of hearing.

Yes the reward containers now contains scraps of wisdom instead of Stamina.There is absolutely no need of internet connection now. The game is fully playable offline now. - However you will see the "Support the game ad" even if you are offline. If you buy the "Remove ads" IAP you will no longer going to see that.I'm really glad that you like the game this much. It was a wonderful supripse for me that this topic exists about my game here.

There are the individual games from hosted games, all of which are accessible, but hosted games does not have an all in one app like on iOS. While on the subject of choice based games, the lifeline series should also be accessible. I heard some months ago that game world was going to be in beta for android but have not yet seen it in the play store. Also, accessible reign I don't remember being on the blind friendly list.

This has recentlyish started happening, and not just to me. It would just randomly say dropbox what what, and you would need to alt tab to get back to your window. It gets pretty annoying when you're reading something and this keeps interrupting it every now and then. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it?

When I tried running the enabler sound for safe mode, I get an error messages like this.Cannot import C:\Users\Christian\Documents\activate audio in safe mode\activate audio in safe mode\Activate Sound in SafeMode.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry.  Some keys are open by the system or other processes, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation. I need help over here..

I like age of warlords because the excessively many weaker units I can just set to AI and have them do their own thing. I only manually manage the more powerful units with abilities that the AI wouldn't know to use properly. So even though the number of units can get a bit much at least you don't have to control them all individually, you can let the AI do some or even all of the work for you if you want.About the map in the study, it wasn't anything revolutionary, it also used directional sounds to indicate what's around you, and other basic things already used in games. But I'm assuming the point is to improve it, so there might be more interesting things in future.Oh and the tactical battle multiplayer has been buggy for a long time actually, not sure when it started because it did work once upon a time.

Agreed with deleting inactive accounts that have 0 posts. In order to get unrestricted you must have made at least one post in the intro topic, so if an account has 0 posts for 6 months they are probably not going to be used. If banning an account would affect someone who made another account because they forgot a password, then it's maybe not the best option.
