Re: Sequence Storm Rhythm Racing Game

I really enjoy the game so far, and I'm definitely going to be purchasing it to show my support. I do seem to be struggling with the third mission where steering is introduced. Should I enable more of the accessibility settings? I only have the audio cues enabled at the moment as I didn't want to eliminate too much of the game's difficulty. I've tried it a number of times now, and no matter how often or sparingly I use the boost, I always end up falling behind. Other than that, everything seems straight forward so far.

Re: Using apps to walk independently

Try this:1. Open BlindSquare.2. Look at the "Filter" button on the main screen and customise it to know what th app should announce.3. Two elements after the "Filter" button is the radius control, which you may also wish to customise.4. Find the place you want to get directions to, and open the screen that displays information about it.5. On this screen, select "Plan a route" and then choose the GPS app you wish to use (I prefer Google Maps).6. Your GPS app should open. Choose to have walking directions. If you keep BlindSquare open in the background, you should know where you are, and your GPS app will tell you where you need to go.

Re: Another question again, still Python, yea?

The last solution you provided is more close to the one i'm using right now in one of my projects. Each level has a list of conditions which decide upon something happens, e.g. winning or losing conditions. If one of my winning conditions returns True whenever their check() method is called, that means that the condition "succeeded". If a winning condition succeeds, you've obviously won, if a losing condition succeeds, you've lost. That way you can add in multiple winning/losing conditions and just need to loop over them at certain times and call their check() methods to see if you've already won/lost.I also added in some string representation to those conditions. That way i'm able to either tell the player what they must do in order to win or tell the player why they actually lost. I guess you can think about more useful things to be added to such classes later on.Best Regards.Hijacker

Yeah, I mostly do mini or micro games, but I'm slowly starting to learn to develop strategies for online battles. It's been tough going, because my brain just doesn't seem to be wired that way, but I do enjoy it. Mostly when I've done battles, I've been practicing with a friend who's trying to get all the cards, and we do co-op because it's more fair to him that way. I do agree about the confusion sound being a bit too long, but I'd much rather have it altered so that changing types doesn't hurt you before worrying about changing the sound.

They came to an agreement, but weren't allowed to sell it at the price APH wanted that was $500. And basically stopped allowing APH to service units. APH said no, so they lost APH as a distributor and major source of sales. Everyone knows selling directly to blind people is corporate suicide, and so Orbit folded. castaways - peasants want flour power, boycotting cloth, fur

castaways - peasants want flour power, boycotting cloth, fur

I got stuck with my doctor doing nothing even though there were two patients.  And my weavers were working as peasants despite a huge pile of furs in the storehouse.   The doctors had no cloth and the weavers no fur.   I designated 12 out of 24 of my people to be people to be peasants and it didn't help.  They did some side chores for the 10 healthy people I had working but spent most of their time delivering wheat to the the mill and grinding flour, despite the fact that I had a great quantity of flour that my 1 baker couldn't keep up with and a huge amount of bread.  After a long time I ran out of wheat in my storehouse and they started making the deliveries I wanted them to make.  They filled up the hospital with cloth and the textile with furs and I was back in business.This is my first game and I'm playing in sandbox mode.  It prolonged me getting supplies to build my ship for quite a significant time.  It would have been a real problem in a real game.  Any idea what the problem was? It wasn't distance - they were delivering ore to my forge which was further from my storehouse than either my textile or hospital.  There's no way to direct/prioritize the peasants, is there?  Shouldn't they just do a little of everything all the time?  I noticed when I first build the forge the metallurgist mined a few ore while waiting for peasants to bring him ore... but that was nothing like this and my hospital wasn't new and my textile sat for a very long time without getting materials from peasants until I ran out of wheat.  I even assigned 2 weavers thinking they should be smart enough to get what was needed but they just grabbed wheat and made flour I didn't need like the other peasants.

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta66)

the gang up thing happens probably due to when bots reach  some health percentages, or if you happen to be a problematic type like dragon. Though I have seen you do just mini games a lot. Paralysis is just a random thing, though it can get annoying pretty fast. Not being able to junk cards would be advantageous because you would just have many more cards than your opponent. Confusion needs a shorter sound and getting hurt when changing types is just ridiculous, but again, a random thingalso, there are ways to awaken your allies. The point of battling is to get a very consistent strategy that will work, always, no matter what, and to design decks for every kind of situation. These are out there, otherwise we would not have options for battles with 9600 points. They would take literally hours to complete. That players take advantage to dare others to just crush them is both annoying but is also a learning experience, as you can pick up more strategies and so on.

Confusion needs a shorter sound and getting hurt when changing types is just ridiculous, but again, a random thing

Even better with spam bots!the, can you crack this? Challenge: post a link to software and see if a crack exists for it.Let's have some fun talking about these challenges without doing them. Getting started guide to Python

2019-08-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Articles Room : amerikranian via Audiogames-reflector

Getting started guide to Python

Attention!Some of the commands mentioned here are NVDA-specific. If you would like other screen readers to be included, please send me the list of the navigation key commands and I will update the guide to include the informationIntroductionAs the community began shifting to Python, the same questions got introduced over and over again. How do I run scripts? How do I see errors? Where do I get Python? This guide will aim to introduce the basics of setting up Python and will hopefully go on to some more advanced concepts such as windows, sounds, and speech.Getting pythonPython can be downloaded by going to python.org and browsing to the "download" heading. Do to the constantly updating nature of the language, no link will be provided as it will probably change. The first link under the download heading should take you to the latest version page. From there it is as simple as choosing what platform you use and downloading the installer.InstallationNoteYou don't have to do everything I do, but some of these settings should save you some headache.A second noteIf I did not mention a setting in the installer, it remains at it's default valueActual installation instructionsFirst, do not click on "install now" option. Choose custom installation instead.I like to change my installation directory to something more obvious just in case I want to mess with the python folder, though it ultimately doesn't matter as long as it does not end up in program files on a 64-bit machine (I have been told and have experienced file writing errors because the app didn't have the permission to do so).Click next, and you should have some more options.I do not install the Idol, primarily because it appeared not to be accessible when I tried to use it. I do add python to my environment variables to save me some typing, and I do check the box for both associating .py with python and precompiling the standard library, though I am not too sure what the second one does. I have tried using python with and without debugging symbols and could not really tell the difference, so that box is left unchecked, at least on my machine.You should be good to install python now. After the installation completes, do not delete the installer. If by some chance you screw up your interpreter you can run it and click on the repair option (Saves you from reinstalling everything.)Running scriptsThere are two ways to run Python code. The most easiest way is to hit windows R to get into your run dialog and then type in python.NoteIf you are on windows 10 and typing python in the run dialog brings you to the Microsoft store, you must run the command from the command line. Read on how to do so.Opening Python via Command Line (CMD for short)To get into your command line, hit windows R and in the run dialog type cmd. This should bring you to the terminal where you can type in commands. Now type python.What you should see as the result of either stepIf everything worked correctly, a window should pop up with 3 greater than signs which signify that python is ready to receive input. Type this into your console:print("hello World!")If you do not hear the message "hello world", make sure that your reporting of dynamic content changes are on by hitting NVDA+5 and run the command again.When you are ready to quit, typing exit() or quit() should close the console.Running scripts from filesThe console is great for quick and dirty tests, but what if you need to have multiple files in your project? This is a little trickier to do.Create a blank document.Type in print("hello World!")Save your document as hello.pyOpen up your command lineGo into the directory where you have saved your file.If you do not know how to use CMD, cd directory_name takes you to that directory, such as cd desktop, and cd .. takes you back to the previous directory in relation to where you currently are.For example, the main python folder comes with a folder called lib inside it. If I was in the lib folder and I typed in cd .., I would now be back in the python directory.A quick tip: If you don't know how to spell something, hitting tab will move you through files and folders within your current directory. After that it is as simple as it is going to be to hit home and type in the desired command before the file name.Type in python hello.pyIf everything works as expected, great! You now are mostly ready to proceed with Python tutorials. If you do not get any output, make sure that reporting dynamic content changes option is  on by hitting NVDA+5 and repeat the command.Last note for file scriptsSometimes, your interpreter will just exit. No announcements of tracebacks, no weird output, no nothing. This is do to some error in your code that does not fall under the syntactical category. To this day, here are two solutions that I use on the regular basesEasy to learn, annoying to accessIf your program crashes, a good thing is to change your command frompython

My rhythm isn't quite perfect I don't think, but the offset shouldn't be nearly enough to matter during gameplay, considering the game is basically Space Channel 5, and I've basically perfected every level in that one at least once. Though I did notice by setting the timing option to loose that I could actually beat the level I was having trouble with... I just wish the narrator would read the after mission screen so I knew how good/bad it thought I was doing. And OCRing that one doesn't really work out too well.

Re: Another question again, still Python, yea?

2019-08-04 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : amerikranian via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Another question again, still Python, yea?

Right, the reason I asked was because I can't imagine the amount of classes and or level entries a game like Paladin has. If you haven't played it in a nutshell it is an RPG where you follow different quest objectives while moving across multiple maps with different enemies. Still. One thing at a time.I just considered another way we could do the leveling concept, though this one is a much less concrete idea. Here's the theoretical code.class level_handler:
 def __init__(self):
  self.win_conditions = {} #Store what is required to win
 def update_data(self, conditions):
  self.win_conditions = conditions
#To use this, we could do something like so.
lv = level_handler()
level_data = ({"alive", 0},)
lv.update_data(level_data[0])
#Pretend that we have the player class and enemy list from post 1 again. Here is what the main loop could look like:
while 1:
 level_logic()

def level_logic():
 for i in lv.win_conditions.items():
  if i[0] == "alive" and len(enemies) == i[1]:
   #We won the level, so let's advance.
   #Please note, player.level is currently at 0, or it would be in a program if I wish to use this technique
   player.level += 1
   lv.update_data(level_data[player.level]) #This will crash if you run this right now because we don't have a second item, but you get the pointSo, yeah. Any issues you see with this approach? The downside to this from what I can gather is that I would have to teach the interpreter what each entry means, but I feel like that is going to be there no matter what I go with. I store the level_data as a tuple because I don't see it changing throughout the game, but if I'm ever going to allow user-created content (Most likely not) I would be in trouble. I could also create map_data which is just like level_data except it will hold information pertaining to that level's map. Thoughts?

Re: a question about manamon moves

Elvond, with a v, not a b. But I think it gets TriBeam and Magic Wave, and that's it. TriBeam's not too bad, though it has an accuracy penalty and sometimes only hits once and is thus stupidly weak. More balance issues. Bleh.Also...regarding the person who said that it's okay because it's only Nintendo/Aaron was just trying to let people who otherwise wouldn't be able to play pokemon do so?Uh, no, that is precisely -not what he was trying to do. I could borrow a friend's DS, GBA or whatnot and even straight-up buy a second-hand pokemon game for approximately twenty dollars; Aaron's game costs more than twice that. Aaron also didn't just remake pokemon, though he came awfully close in a lot of ways; he made his own game, with heavy borrowing from a very well-known franchise, in order to fill a niche in the market. If all he'd wanted to do was make an old pokemon game accessible, aka Braillemon, then okay, you have an argument. That is absolutely not what happened though. The instant you borrow this heavily and then start trying to monetize it, you're eding into extremely iffy territory in my books.If I write a book called The Five Halls of Argentio about a quest of three heroes who meet under unlikely circumstances, travel across the world and invade an enchanted castle, and then a few years later I see that you wrote a book called The Five Rooms of Arcenio with a very similar concept (naming, concepts, story progression, plot arc, even dialogue bits), you'd better believe I'd be pissed. Especially if your work wasn't just fanfiction (I care little about fanfiction, honestly). If you tried ripping off my book, or my piece of music, or my game, or my whatever, and I found out, and it was pretty damn obvious what you were doing, I would first probably ask you to demonetize the project, and then try and seek legal action against you. This is not because I'm a hard-nosed capitalist. I'm quite the opposite. It's because everyone deserves protection, or nobody does. It's just about that simple.Aaron Baker does not get a free pass just because he scratched everybody's pokemon itch, guys.

Re: Domino's Pizza Petitions Supreme Court Over ADA Compliance

It's unfortunate that we're forced to make every inaccessibility issue about ADA compliance. As someone had pointed out previously, the ADA is going on 30 years old with minimal provision over things like the digital inaccessibility of webpages/apps/etc. That's why things like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) exists, to give a literal definition of what it means to be accessible, bearing the wide range of disabilities in mind, not just blind folks. Of course, adhering to WCAG is only viewed as a suggestion more-so than a typical procedure in development; it doesn't have legal implications, and this is where the ADA fails, not by intentional design, but because time has passed and there are so many types of disability barriers that it becomes simply too cumbersome to handle in one piece of legislation.

Re: Another question again, still Python, yea?

I don't think your particularly over thinking it, if you plan on having different victory conditions per map you may have no choice but to have a separate progression trigger for each. I think the term your looking for is abstraction or compartmentalization, which is fine from a design stand point to make code more easy to manage. Another way of dealing with it would be to use classes for each map with their own independant function handlers, including victory conditions. For example:class lev1(object):
def __init__(self):
#our map data
self.data = ""
#current number of enemies
self.enemies = 0

def update(self,player):
#update map things, changes to the environment, player position, etc.

#if all enemies defeated, advance to next level
if self.enemies == 0:
print('enemies defeated!')
player.level += 1

class lev2(object):
def __init__(self):
#our map data
self.data = ""

def update(self,player):
#update map things

#player is at position of exit, advance level
if self.data[player.y][player.x] == 99:
print('player at exit!')
player.level += 1

class player(object):
def __init__(self):
self.x = 2
self.y = 1
self.level = 0

class main(object):
def __init__(self):
self.levels = [lev1(),lev2()]

#main update loop
def update(self):
while True:
#update level and pass the player to it
self.levels[self.player.level].update(self.player)
if self.player.level == 2:
print('victory!')
break

a = main()
a.update()In the given example, the main class loads each map class, then passes the player class and iterates over them but lets the map classes handle things for themselves internally. When their conditions are met they change the player state which switches the map over to the next map handler class with different conditions.

After enough of this, one does tend to learn how the thing works, but it is among the least intuitive online purchase systems I've encountered.I don't think it's bad enough to invoke the ADA over, but it is bad enough to give a 1 or 2 star response to the "how would you rate your online order experience?" survey question. ... Heh, except they broke that in the app in one of the latest updates, so all the vote options just say "star". Are they in ascending or descending order? Guess they don't want my feedback anymore.This is all spread out over the past 5 years, keep in mind. Though I don't remember noticing their site change much. The app is way less clunky.

Hello. So I was wanting to get into Street Fighter V on Steam, and was able to install the app and run it. I'm having difficulty  going through the process, so I looked at the steam guide posted in 2014. I'm curious if there are any notable advancements made that would help with this, and if people can link me to topics where those are discussed (just in case I'm treading on already travelled road). I'm also not really that proficient with Windows yet (I use a Macbook Pro usually), so  how exactly do you get to the properties of a desktop icon? Do you use the context menu via right clicking, or is there a keyboard shortcut?  Sorry if these questions may seem very easy to answer.

I'm surprised you didn't go into how their 'default' weapons are designed to psychologically fight against their flaws. Leonardo is always hesitant to put his brothers in danger as their leader so Master Splinter gave him Ninjaken, which (while a Hollywood weapon) were designed for quick, decisive strikes. Raphael is obsessed with proving he's the strongest so he was given the Sai, a disarming blunt weapon meant for defense and not killing. Michelangelo is scatter-brained and lazy so he was given the  most complicated (another Hollywood weapon) Nunchaku because it would force him to focus in order to use them effectively, and Donatello with his talents using machines and computers was given the most low-tech weapon possible to teach him not to rely on superior arms.

This is a little trickier to do.Create a blank document.Type in print(,hello World!")Save your document as hello.pyOpen up your command lineGo into the directory where you have saved your file.If you do not know how to use CMD, cd directory_name takes you to that directory, such as cd desktop, and cd .. takes you back to the previous directory in relation to where you currently are.For example, the main python folder comes with a folder called lib inside it.

Re: Enemy update sound question for bgt.

I am not sure what you mean. Consider this code//I haven't written bgt in a while and thus cannot guarantee error-free code
enemy@ enemies[];
class enemy
{
int x, y, sound;
enemy(x, y)
{
x = x;
y = y;
sound = p.play_3d("enemy.ogg", me.x, me.y, me.z, x, y, z, true);
}//cf
}//cc
//A sample enemy loop.
//Keep in mind that our enemy has a sound slot that they're holding onto for us to use later.
void enemyloop()
{
for (uint i = 0; i < enemies.length; i ++)
{
p.update_sound_3d(enemies[i].sound, enemies[i].x, enemies[i].y, enemies[i].z);
}//cl
}//cfI should also note that calling update_sound constantly is a bad idea, primarily because your enemy won't move each iteration of the loop. Personally, what I would do is create the enemy class and add a "can_move" method to it that checks if it can move and if so, moves them wherever they need to go. An example using that logic is belowenemy@ enemies[];
class enemy
{
int x, y, sound, movetime;
timer movetimer;
enemy(x, y, mvt)
{
x = x;
y = y;
movetime = mvt;
sound = p.play_3d("enemy.ogg", me.x, me.y, me.z, x, y, z, true);
}//cf
bool can_move()
{
if (movetimer.elapsed >= movetime) return true;
return false;
}//cf
}//cc
void enemyloop()
{
for (uint i = 0; i < enemies.length; i ++)
{
if (enemies[i].can_move() == true)

Re: Enemy update sound question for bgt.

I am not sure what you mean. Consider this code//I haven't written bgt in a while and thus cannot guarantee error-free code
enemy@ enemies[];
class enemy
{
int x, y, sound;
enemy(x, y)
{
x = x;
y = y;
sound = p.play_3d("enemy.ogg", me.x, me.y, me.z, x, y, z, true);
}//cf
}//cc
//A sample enemy loop.
//Keep in mind that our enemy has a sound slot that they're holding onto for us to use later.
void enemyloop()
{
for (uint i = 0; i < enemies.length; i ++)
{
p.update_sound_3d(enemies[i].sound, enemies[i].x, enemies[i].y, enemies[i].z);
}//cl
}//cfI should also note that calling update_sound constantly is a bad idea, primarily because your enemy won't move each iteration of the loop. Personally, what I would do is create the enemy class and add a "can_move" method to it that checks if it can move and if so, moves them wherever they need to go. An example using that logic is belowenemy@ enemies[];
class enemy
{
int x, y, sound, movetime;
timer movetimer;
enemy(x, y, mvt)
{
x = x;
y = y;
movetime = mvt;

bool can_move()

if (movetimer.elapsed >= movetime) return true;
return false;

if (enemies[i].can_move() == true)

Re: Graphiti Braille Display Now Available?

@14Oh? Thats particularly interesting... Checking the APH site they do still seem to sell the [Orbit Reader 20], but its 699$ with 470 in stock. Hmm, there also seems to be a notice though:IMPORTANT NOTE – All new orders for Orbit Reader 20 placed June 2019 and beyond will be supported and serviced directly, and only, by Orbit Research Customer Service at 1-888-60-ORBIT (1-888-606-7248) or techsupp...@orbitresearch.com. Units sold prior to June 2019 will continue to be serviced by APH.Are there any other sources or information on this? I'm curious as to what other factors might be involved, though I have a few ideas.

Another question again, still Python, yea?

Another question again, still Python, yea?

So while I'm figuring out Pathfinder and what to do with it (should I even bother with it) I still want to make progress, and this is my next question.Making multiple levels.I have tried searching on google, but so far have not found anything too promising. My question is how?Suppose that we have 2 levels. One of them involves the player killing everything, and another involving the player getting to a certain coordinate. We can, of course, do something like this.class player:
 def __init__(self, x, y):
  self.x = x
  self.y = y
  self.level = 1In our main loop, we'd do something like this:if player.level == 1 and len(enemies) == 0:
 #Everything's dead, we can advance to level 2.
 player.level += 1
elif player.level == 2 and player.x == 450:
 #We reached the winning x, we can advance now
 player.level += 1That's not bad, right? Of course, our loop will get exponentially bigger the more levels we add to our game. Another way I thought of doing level loops is like soclass player:
 def __init__(self, x, y):
  self.x, self.y = x, y
  self.level = 0

level_loops = [lev1, lev2]
#In our main loop, we'd do something like this:
level_loops[player.level]() #Calling our level loop

def lev1():
 if len(enemies) == 0:
  #We won! Next level
  player.level += 1

def lev2():
 if player.x == 450:
  #We won! Next level
  player.level += 1This makes my main loop cleaner and smaller, but does not kill my if statements, it just hides them.What are some other ways of doing level loops? Am I overthinking it all again?

Hello.@wlomas, this guide is a bit out dated but should work https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/13431/steam-guide/There's a peace where it mentiones putting in your username and password, make sure to put it in like this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -login Username "password" -no-dwrite and where it says username and password, you must delete those and put in your username and password instead.Downloading a demo can be a little tricky from what I remember, someone else on here should be able to help you with that but from what i understand, you click on the link on the first post, then press enter on download demo, press control end to get to the bottom of the page and arrow up,, if you here something like, I have steam, download, press enter on that and then tab around until you here ok button, press enter on that and you should be downloading the game.As I said, I think someone else should help with downloading games but I thought I'd write this quickly so that you have an idea of what to do.
