If you have a weapon with some vertical range on your numbers, keep pressing the spacebar to float. Then, while continuing to hold down the spacebar, switch to your weapon. If you do it right, you'll still be floating in the air, but you can turn left and right and massacre everything below you. I used that trick with great success in 23-3. Just don't take a step or you'll fall down. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help You didn't beat the game, so you can't get it yet. It's also in BlindNinja's guide, but essentially it allows you to float. You can adjust your height up and down (though not down easily if you have a shield equipped), so if there's hell on the ground, you can just float above it. Big stamina drain though, so watch out for that. If you're high in the air and you run out of stamina, you'll immediately start to fall. And you know what happens if you hit the ground from too high up, don't you? You can, of course, hold the space bar and quaff a stamina recovery item, and you likely won't die. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help What I did, and probably what I did takes all the challenge out of the game, but I always trained my defense up so that attacks never really hurt because they all did 1 damage. I would imagine you would do fine at the next difficulty though, you can always level up in the first few stages, or buy fruits before you change to beef up defense.I am really looking forward to not having to replay difficulties in their entirety once they have already been beaten once, for situations just like this. I have 1370 atk/def, about 10.4k HP. Am I ready for "very hard" yet? I'm noticing even green slimes hit me for almost 1k damage, though they die fast. What I was hoping for in this level was a setup where, because of the good weapons I have, I'd be able to grind a veritable crapton of levels in 8.1, 18.1, stuff like that. What I hope I haven't just done is set up a virtually unwinnable scenario. My skills are good, but I'm not a pro. This was originally a bug and I wanted them to split to different directions, but I thought fixing that would significantly increase the difficulty for defending the box, so yeah. What you can effectively do is to jump over those slimes, stand just in front of the box, face your left and spray your gun or yoyo. No idea how it works, I only know I have like 1240 levels to go.So here's where I come back asking for more advice. I've mentioned this elsewhere.In 25.1, I do okay right up until the bombing slime creeps start spraying fire everywhere. I tried sprinting to the left edge of the stage and using the water plane launcher; no good. I tried using the high jump shoes to dodge fireballs. That worked for awhile, but I came down into what looked like about eleven fireballs, which is kind of insane. It looks like most of my spray-style weapons don't do enough damage to fireballs or the slimes themselves (though maybe the mega shooter is something to try here?). I know I can't just stand with my defend master held high and hope for the best. The fireballs do like 2900 damage a pop when they hit directly.My stats are roughly 1.35k attack and defense on top of about 10.3kHP. I'm playing on hard mode.Is there any better/safer way to manage these things? I hate them. I hate them so much. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help Hi, I just wanna weigh in after reading this topic to say that their are 2 weapons that will make your life much much easier on the Karla levels, that is the needle launcher, the strongest or close to the strongest one. And the volt stick.The needle launcher is a bit tough to craft if I remember more tedious I guess then anything. But the volt stick is super easy to craft and is made from some of that "junk" you got from killing the extinguisher.Thirdly, make sure you check where you get cheat engine from cause the real installer doesn't come bundled with anything if I remember correctly. Even if we just spray everything to death, there's still an excellent chance that Carla would die even without our fire hurting her. That said, I see what you're getting at. And of course it's inconsistent. I'm very, very thankful that Carla's bullets don't hurt us, as that would make the level night on impossible at lower difficulties, not to mention higher ones.Also, your suggestion on how to get rid of Avast worked perfectly. The trick is to stay right next to Carla, I'd say within five tiles or so. I go to her right, and just plow everything that comes from that direction. I can guard one side of Carla really well. But since fire stones often drop between Carla and myself, and often go toward her, I have no reliable way of taking them out without wasting her. If she tries, she blows them up on top of herself. And then she's dead before I can heal her.So until or unless this level is adjusted somehow, and that bug is fixed, or friendly fire stops killing Carla, this is where I'm going to ask people how it is they use that cheat engine thing in order to fix values. If I can fix her health at something crazy or make it so it won't go down no matter how often it's hit, then yeah, maybe. Until or unless that can happen...no, I really don't feel like doing this level over and over. I'm still not sure why precisely it's so hard on hard as opposed to other difficulties. I mean okay, it was never a walk in the park, but this is just nuts.Pity the level wouldn't end when you (not Carla, but you) reached a certain point, since after all 12.3 has you and Carla separated anyway. Your shots will take out basically anything in one hit, so just watch her back.And no, the enemies should not be doing that much damage naturally, I believe. There's some kind of bug in the coding of this level specifically that makes everything hit way harder than it should, but even with that it's manageable. I'd forgotten that existed until now. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help So, I have a new least favourite level. It's 12.2I'm playing on hard. I have about 7.7k HP, about 930 attack and defense. I can kick the living snot out of any enemy I find. But Carla is dead in virtually four hits of anything. Desk stomps take her down by over half her health, it seems. She's too stupid to jump fire. If I stay close to her, I risk spraying her to death with the yo-yo, water plane launcher or some other weapon because she has a nasty habit of getting in front of me...oh and also, she takes damage every time I jump fireballs. If I stay far away, she'll hold her own for awhile, then I'll take twenty seconds to clear an area and the next thing I know she's at 5% health, and I get back in time to hear her die.Given that this level is random (i.e., the same enemies don't appear in the same place at the same time), I feel like pulling my hair out. is there any way at all for me to make Carla stronger? Is there any way to get her to avoid stuff more? Cats don't work either, I've tried.I mean, okay, I have always hated this level, even from my first playthrough, but it's getting rapidly too hard to handle. And all the HP, atk and def in the world won't help me much when it's Carla who's dying so fast.If you folks have any foolproof strats to do this level well, please do let me know, because I'm getting pretty sick and tired of doing it over and over again.Incidentally, even slimes now do enormous damage to me. I thought 920 atk/def would be enough, but apparently I can be splatted for over 2k damage now. Scary stuff. Looks like maybe I will have to go back and grind on "difficult", maybe. If so, though, that's going to be very, very disappointing. It can't turn while shooting and the attack is very long. Now, spam missiles and they will all hit until he stops his futile machine gun attack. I'd spend some money on upgrading the skyracer so you aren't quite so frail. Personally, the way I do it is to get to max speed, get out my missiles and then constantly change heights (or nearly constantly anyway). Every so often, use the d key to see if the guardian is glowing red. If it's not, unload a missile on it (make sure you're facing it). The reason you want to keep changing heights is because the thing shoots lasers, but you'll dodge them if you don't stay at a constant height. Honestly my own skyracer has like 134k HP, which is probably overkill, and I can beat this thing while losing only about 5-12kHP on difficult. It seems pretty daunting, but it's really not too bad when you get used to it. But yeah, definitely upgrade your skyracer if you haven't already. You can be standing right next to one and it shouldn't hit you. 25.1 is not terrible, but it's tricky. Just dash under the blade the instant you hear it whoosh. That way it's going up as you're going underneath it. They shouldn't one-shot you though. If nothing else, if you get nailed, get to a safe square and heal up. I've taken a few inopportune blade whacks from time to time.Also, my previous post where I gave advice? That's for 21.1. I apologize. I got the levels confused. Am now back to 23.1 and so far Difficult mode is still a joke. Just having a question about blades: Is their vertical/ horizontal range consistent? The one at 304 caught me even though I was at 300 however it's horizontal range was just one square, however the other ones at 100 had both ranges one square. How can you know when it's safe without getting hit? Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help The guide is pretty good with this, so I can probably help.So right away, hook up above the camera. do this really quick because if you don't, it'll turn and spot you. Go across at height 20 I think, hop up a couple of ledges, jump the gap (don't fall there or you're toast), then get to about 88 and hook up again. Run to the right (you should be at something like height 49 I believe, but I might be wrong on this) and there'll be a gap. What follows is a bunch of small drops and cameras. Jump down and get past them when they're looking the other way. it's a little bit tricky, but every second level is safe. I haven't quite got back to that point yet so I can't give exact specifics.In stages 15 and 16, you can heal Carla from a distance, and you can also drop rockets wherever there are lots of enemies. Carla has also gotten a huge weapon upgrade so she can definitely handle herself. Just keep an eye on her health. I generally stay very far away from her in those stages. 16.4 can be a pain though. I get that I am supposed to knock the energy cristal down so it doesn't heal the launcher system, which I have no problem with. However, there's something displayed in the menu as energy, I believe launched by the launcher system itself that takes about half my HP. Should I just jump over that? It's also sometimes not very easy to hear as there are lots of enemies spawning, however I wasn't good with getting rid of them so will try that a bit later. I got way ahead of her, cleaned off most of the board for her, then waited for her to catch up and picked off the stragglers. Actually, 11.4 is sort of annoying, because she has a habit of running in front of me when I can happily take down a launcher in 2-3 hits from the cat spear. I kill her a lot in that level, so I usually take a speed drink, dash ahead of her, pound the launcher as it lands, then let her do whatever she's going to do. So far, "difficult" is everything but.And oh my god, Aero Gear. Holy wow does it speed things up. I got through stages 3 through 5 in about seven minutes, including the upgraded 5.2. I don't know what my stats ought to be, but I'm running on about 750 atk/def, about 5030HP, about 230 tech and somewhere around 1200 stamina. Only difference is that Celadon had multiple floors and a vending machine that gave you some free TMs, while Brightwater keeps it simple with three people to talk to.Cheating isn't god-awful in this game. he did put it there for a reason. I've cheated a couple of levels, but I've always gone back and retried them later to do them legit. if you're really and truly getting stuck, I can see why you might've done it. You'll meet Carla again in combat in stages 15 and 16, but I urge you to try not to cheat in those ones, because you have way way more at your disposal then, and you can heal Carla from a long way away, so I tend to just go off on my own, rip enemies apart and just check in on her every 30 seconds or so. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help I think I am at level 49 right now. Carla is level 45, and most enemies are around level 37 or so from what I gather. I ended up beating 11-3 and 4, but I cheated. I brought out a bunch of cats, used some speed drinks so they'd follow me, and it worked. I basically kept Carla alive by clearing a path for her by letting the cats kill the enemies and get hit by the bombs. I know I know, I'm a cheater, but something is telling me to stick with this game despite my occasional annoyance with it. I plan on using 10-1 for more grinding. It's a good nondangerous level to do that. One thing that would be cool is if the developer could make the ultimate shop that sells most things, especially healing items, drinks, ammunition, etc. That way, we don't have to keep checking every shop to keep track of what we need. It kind of reminds me of something like Brightwater superstore. Every marketplace in that game sold most of the healing items. After you make it through your first playthrough, you should be fine as long as you don't try to skip too many modes at once and keep training defense, attack and HP.I tested the highest difficulty as soon as I hit level 2500 and could unlock it. Even slimes did around 160k damage a hit. Needless to say, I decided to go through some more modes before trying that again. If you are finding you are fragile and die fast, for heaven's sake grind awhile in stage 8 or stage 10 someplace. it'll take awhile, but it works.So of course, take that with a grain of salt. For all I know, levelling up naturally and trying Extreme mode or whatever might be utter suicide. The sort of thing where one insect needle will OHKO you or some silly nonsense. But I hope not.I have just finished the Exciting playthrough and am now working on difficult. One day I will probably finish the game on all difficulties, but I'm in no rush. I was speaking in general terms. I think some try their best, and with good rational reasons, to make their games as much like games for sighted people as they can. Often times though, I think this can backfire. As you have pointed out before, have to scan areas carefully and take in that much information in a short amount of time is something sighted gamers don't have to do. I was speaking more out of frustration than anything else. Having said all this, I have, and will again, commend this particular developer for his efforts in making a game that is not only free but vreative and interesting as well. Re: I Suck at BK3 and I Need Help Okay, here's my advice for 11.3 - and yes, before any of you defends it, it's definitely fairly tricky.1. Use the needle launcher for best effect, IMHO.2. Whatever you do, do not shoot Carla.3. Use the d key liberally. Find out where stuff is on the map.4. Because this is an area where you only have to kill all the enemies around (rather than kill a set number, I mean), it's possible to sprint way, way ahead of Carla and clean off the whole right half of the stage, or most of it. Try and be quick about this, however, as Carla can and will die eventually if left on her own.5. Use remote medical kits when near Carla to heal her. You can do that, after all. Hopefully you have a few. Remember to be facing her and within a few spaces when you deploy one.6. Random bombs will fall in the stage, it's true. Left on her own, Carla often dodges these, but not always. They are random, and the way to get out of range is to run a few squares away from the high whistling you heard.7. Bomb platforms are a different story. There are three or four of them in the level (I misremember their coordinates right now), and if you run under them, you'll take a pounding. Instead, do as has been previously suggested, and grapple up onto the very leftmost edge of them. Check your coordinates, and check Carla's coordinates. Make sure she's behind you (example, if you're at 65-10, she should be at 64 or, more helpfully, about 10-20 spaces back to your left). Then book it across the platform. Carla will not be caught in the rain of bombs. When you fall off the far end of the platform, Carla will walk merrily under the bomb platform without triggering it. Do not, absolutely do not, double back beneath the platform to get close to her, even if there are monsters coming up behind her. why? Because you'll set off more bombs, and she'll die. Wait for her to clear the platform and then heal her if necessary.8. Proceed slowly and methodically. Don't just sprint, and don't just pray and spray. If you're patient and a wee bit lucky, this will work. It is frustrating though. I hear you on that.Now, I do want to address - and rather firmly - this business about the developer. When I started yowling about the bio control system - a boss you haven't come anywhere close to yet - the dev took the dropboxed link of my save file and provided proof that yes, I could in fact beat that boss if I was careful. He took time to demonstrate that it was possible, and at different points and during different comments I have gotten the impression that he does in fact test his products. Is he perfect? No. None of us are perfect. There are tweaks that I think could make this a better game. But this game is meant to be a challenge. Rather than trying to say that a dev got too carried away, perhaps this sort of high-action side-scrolling madness is just not your style. There is absolutely zero shame in that. I dismissed Adventure at C for precisely the same reason, and The Gate for similar reasons. What I never did, to my recollection anyway, was to make insinuations about Aaron getting carried away regarding these games, so I don't think anyone is due that sort of criticism here. If it's too much for you, as I was afraid it was for me, that's cool. I get it. I still think there are elements of this game that don't really appeal to me, honestly. But to talk about how the dev maybe got carried away, or wondering whether he tests his own stuff because you're finding it slow going...well the game has been out for awhile now, and if something really was borderline unplayable, I think people'd be saying so by now, and either it would've been fixed or else the game wouldn't have seen any further efforts to keep it relevant. It would've been tossed on the scrap-heap. In other words, dozens if not hundreds of satisfied players can't all be wrong when they beat this stage, albeit narrowly and with much swearing in some cases, so I think it's time for a little redirection. There is a reason the "god damn it Carla" drinking game is a thing.I do have one further question:Is there any way at all for me to get medals for modes I've completed? i.e., I'm virtually out of clear medals, but I want more so I can make a hyper buster blade, but there is no point in completing the game on normal just for that. I often wonder if developers do try the tasks they put in games. I like that the game has some creativity and lots of things to do, but let's not have so much going on. There is often so much noise you can't even hear the platform.
