I would say this fits into the latter category. The writing in general, the setting, and the atmosphere of the game are excellent. It feels very Lovecraftian. Seriously, this game is creepy from the get go, and the tension that it creates really works. The random scenes generally help keep the tension high, and atmosphere thick. The character work could be a bit better. To be clear, some characters get a lot of love, but others feel like little more a click through dialouge to gather clues. It's that contrast that makes me even write this criticism. On to the TF. There seems to be one central TF in the game, and it is painfully slow... in a very good way. You could railroad your way through it if you really want to, but I get the feeling that once there is a path to a more satisfactory ending it is the kind of thing that will happen over time, and you will struggle against it if you want to enjoy the content. This seems fitting, as characters tend to lose their minds in Lovecraftian fiction, while here we have our main character losing their body and mind. I come from a time before smart phones and the such. You are very welcome for the updates. I try to share as I release new updates, and this site is one of the first ones I usually update since I actually get a surprising amount of traffic from it. As for "Adult" games being good in their own right. Its a mixed bag really. A lot of games are just about the spam, but increasingly I see people trying to tell a story first with pron just being a part of that story instead of the other way around. I personally try to approach a story by asking "If I pulled all of the 'adult' content from the game, would it still be a complete and enjoyable story?" I hope that you enjoy the game when you get around to playing it. Its fairly dark, along the lines of what HP Lovecraft used to write But expect to invest a substantial amount of time into the game if you start to play. Its a little over 320k words of content as of right now, and even if you'll only likely see a third of that in any given playthrough, its still quite a bit of reading. My other projects are built in similar formats. The Puppet Master is my first completed game and is quite a bit simpler (And smaller) than my other projects. Most of the people I've had the privilege of meeting have been kind, intelligent, and helpful.Inheritance. The game has a dark undertone at the start and involves a pair of girls who have been mistreated in the past. While there are options to allow you to take advantage of them, the primary focus of the writing is to provoke a nurturing and protective impulse in the player. The idea is to take a pair of girls what are 'broken' in their own ways, then put the player in a position where they want to make their lives brighter.I've seen some really amazing discussion about the game and how people view the characters. For example, here is part of a conversation on another site about the intro from a while back:"Hm...I am conflicted (I know it's only a very very very early version of this game, still)...the writer is good at making me question what the best path is (especially since there's no outcome yet, because that choice ends this version of the game!)...I mean of the two choices here (I will never be a total abusive asshole, not even in a game so for me there's only two choices here, not 3 (abusing her is out of the question!)...no, I can't even roleplay that! My wife and me read some similar work, but for the most part we do our own thing (She likes books about special needs people, true crime, and drama. I prefer Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, and Adventure. Some people have an aversion to it, some people are perverts who enjoy a steady diet of it (I probably fall into that second group) and most well adjusted people enjoy it in moderation. Additional skills have been added, though those skills do not affect anything yet. (Cheat Build only)-Cheat Menu may look largely the same, but its been completely rebuilt in the background. Should be in its final form now with the exception of any additional items actually added to the Cheat Menu. (Cheat Build only)-Did some pretty significant work to the Sidebar. Should have cleaned it up a bit from your perspective, but in addition to that it should make things just a little easier on our end as well by having a more intuitive layout.-I had a single person report that the summoning bug was persisting. Not sure if this was a fluke, if they were using an old save, or what the deal was. Regardless, the issue has been addressed in detail by one of our coders and should be both fixed, and the code improved, related to this.This should be the last fix before the next major build of the game. The plan is to go into this next week working on Inheritance. Going to drop a minimum of three interactive scenes into the game and try to add the sleep mechanic. Once the sleep mechanic is in the game, we'll have a template in place for almost every other mechanic that's going to appear in the game in the near future. My goal is to create a range of play styles for the game, as well as create enough content to make it feel fresh for a long time as you interact with the people and environment in the game. The basement is a little sparse at the moment, but there are two rooms down there that have been written, coded, and added to the game, we've simply not added what is needed to unlock them yet. That will come as their related content gets added to the game so there's actually something to do in those rooms.This is correct, the free version allows you to explore past the intro, but there isn't really any interactive content. The A1 release includes four interactive scenes though, and the build being worked on right now includes more interactive scenes and will hopefully include the sleep mechanic. Once the sleep mechanic is finalized, the code will be adapted to hopefully add most of the other functions to the game (Content has been written for most of the game's functions already, we just need the code to make it all work.) At present, the A1 version includes less than half of the content that's actually been written for the game and my intent is to include at least one major mechanic (Sleep/Showers/Meals/Sex/Pregnancy/etc) to the game with each new build until all of that content can be added. And while we work to add that content (Its faster to add the content than add the code so it can be added) I'll be continuing to write more content for the game as well.The Journal will be in the dresser in the master bedroom. It will eventually give some details about the Great Uncle's life as well as tell the player the code to get into the laboratory in the basement and explain how to get into the other room in the basement as well. I've yet to write the content for that, but its fairly high on my priority list. I also intend to write journals related to each of the girls he owned over the years. I've actually written the journal entry that explains how the Great Uncle came to own Anna and Eve, we just need to finalize the item system (Will be a simple task when the time comes, just got a couple of things that are more important to get into the game first) before it can be added to the game, the scene itself is already coded. Journals will be kind of a collectible/side project where the player will need to find them before they can read them. If people enjoy the journals, I see no reason not to continue writing them throughout production of the game. If people aren't real big on them, I'll do the one for Anna and Eve, one for the Uncle, and maybe a couple of others. I'll also be adding additional entries to existing journals over time, kind of a chapter at a time kind of thing.My intention is to create a rich lore within the game through a series of journals and other things both for the sake of exploring the history of the girls and others the Great Uncle owned, and to create a contrast between their past and present. I want to establish one girl at a time, which means enough content for Anna that she feels playable in-game (I'll be adding more content for Eve along the way as well, but the focus will be on Anna for a while.) and 2. I want to clearly define Eve as being of legal age before letting the player take advantage of her in that way, plus create the means for the player to reverse her state of artificial youth if they want to.Very true. There is a big difference between fantasy and reality. I think that's one of the appeals of games is that you can do all kinds of things that you couldn't do in real life. They allow us to explore our fantasies in a healthy way (I"m thinking of Fallout 4, and how you can force your settlers to fight to the death in cage fights. Or the Grand Theft Auto series of games and almost everything you can do in those.)In this, you'll be able to romance both girls, sweep them off their feet and make them fall in love with you. Alternately, you'll be able to treat them every bit as poorly as the great uncle once did. Or for that matter, you can build a good relationship with one girl, then use her to manipulate/lure the other to your bed as well. The eventual goal will be to create content that can cater to most everyone's play style. Or for that matter, you will be able able to treat one well while treating the other poorly if that's what you want (Though that will have the potential to hurt the good relationship on the grounds that they are both fond of their sister and don't want to see their sibling hurt.)PS: Should have a new build of this out either late tonight or some time tomorrow. For example, reaching the bathroom in the master bathroom is one of the furthest places to reach in the house, from the entry hall, you move to the hallway, then the master bedroom, then the master bath. Three clicks. Same with items in the sidebar, or outside once the mansion grounds start getting added. Ever.The A1 build group has only a couple of pieces of interactive content past the intro. The build as as much a way of testing the functionality of those scenes as anything else. It would require a tremendous amount of grinding those scenes in order to shift your stats enough to start seeing new content within those scenes.The A2 build group adds several more interactive scenes as well as starting to add some of the features which will be featured in the game (Sleeping, Eavesdropping, and Punishments)The next build group will feature the sex mechanic as well as the first set of mealtime events. And the build after that will most likely be where Conversation options start appearing with most of the other functions which have been written already. All the while, I will be making an effort to add new content to existing functions in the game.Patience. The database over on TFGamesSite is a pretty convenient place to link since I keep it updated regularly and it will rout people to the most recent version of the game, the only down side is that it adds one extra click for people seeking the game (Which really isn't a big deal.). That said, do whatever works best for you.The Puppet Master is a pretty small game in comparison to my others. Less than 50k words of content and five endings (There's a brief guide for how to get all of the endings.) If memory serves, it placed third in the competition I wrote it for. (That may sound impressive, but there were only five entries, so it finished middle of the pack.) This month alone, close to a thousand dollars was invested into art, paying coders, prize money for a writing competition I held, and other expenses related to these projects. They're 6 now) I crushed a disk in my spine and have been unable to work a traditional job since, that means my earnings through Patreon is my only paycheck. (My wife works, and with what she earns, we're able to maintain a minimalist lifestyle without the need for handouts. The only luxuries we maintain is internet and NetFlix, and before I started earning on Patreon, we had started discussing the need to drop those to make ends meet.)About 10 years ago, I had a daughter who died from a rare form of childhood cancer. Since that time, I have actively tried to give whatever I am able toward helping people in similar situations. Sometimes I can donate a little money, more often its a case of volunteering time. This is something I have every intention of continuing.The short version of the above: I have a responsibility to my family, and my income has to go toward providing for them as I am able. As my income increases, my personal donations will continue to go toward research for childhood cancer because that is where my heart calls me most strongly to give.Now, on to the meat of your message:What you say is something that I spent a lot of time thinking about when planning this game. I wanted to add a human element to the game, partially for the same reasons you describe. Nearly all "slave" games are built around cruelty and control, and while those elements are present in this as well, I feel the humanity and compassion is important for the sake of balance as well as to put players in a position where they feel the need to think about their choices and the implications there of. After all, if you do not provoke people into thinking and/or feeling emotion through your writing, then what is the point? Good writing should always force the reader to consider the implications and see the world through a broader context than when they first began to read.As I started this message by saying, I like your train of thought on the subject. As such, I just added a note to my game notes to pursue this very issue. While I may not personally plan to donate money toward helping victims of slavery because the donations I have always made have been toward helping childhood cancer victims, I will be spending some time researching on the subject of real life slavery (In a wider context than I currently have for the sake of writing the game.) and will make a point of eventually adding links to some good information sites on the subject as well as links to good charities related to this for anyone who finds it in their heart to help.Thank you very much for the post. A lot of it can be answered by saying that the game is still in fairly early development, but I'll cover things in a bit more detail than that below anyway.1. Early in development the perspective was changed. Most of it has been fixed but we're still finding places I missed. If you see something told in the first person (I, Me, My, etc) then please report it along with where to find it and I'll get it fixed as soon as I am able.2. I've got our coders working on movement right now so that the girls will move around the house on their own. For the moment, try summoning one or both of the girls to a location as they do not move on their own. There are currently around 20 interactive scenes like the one you mentioned, some require that the girl(s) like or dislike you to a certain degree before they can trigger (Check the wiki for details, a lot of the scenes are listed there with some notes about when/where scenes play out as well as what relationship levels change that scene.)3. Yes. Anna is fairly "easy" because she feels she is protecting her sister by putting herself forward. Getting Anna to actually love you can take a lot of effort though as she is slow to gain true feelings for you (Affection at +800 before she starts having real feelings for you.) Eve on the other hand has a romance/seduction path I've been working on. She'll warm up to you a lot easier than her sister does, but she's also less willing to take the initiative at first (Meaning she will only do something if you've done it with her before. This is intentional because of how young she appears in spite of her being of age. I wanted the players to be able to control whether they were able to develop a platonic, affectionate, or romantic relationship if they choose to be kind to the girls.) Right now the seduction path is about half written (Its a bed time event, though I intend to write several more event chains that serve the same function at other places in the house) and there is a single sex scene with several variants that has been written for her that appears in A9.4. For the time being yes. The sex content written for the bedroom related to Anna is the only interactive sex currently in the game. Once there's a similar amount of content for Eve, then I'll add a new location for sex. Right now I have plans to include sex scenes in the master bedroom, guest rooms, sauna, gym, shower, over the kitchen table, in the living room, and a couple of other places. If you have suggestions for where you'd like that kind of content to appear, please share them. Check out the wiki. I am trying to get information about all of my projects up over there, but its a labor of love and tend to be focused enough on writing new content that I don't think to update the wiki often. That said, a few weeks ago I added a lot of new content over there.
