I'd like to practice martial arts

Hi! Ive read lots of topic about martial art on this forum, and I was thinking about trying one. Unfortunately, there are so many choices that I really dont know what to go for. Im 23 and Im phisically small. Im not too strong, even after seven years as a competitive swimmer. I think I prefer close combat, but I would not like something that completely avoids strikes. Can you help me? Thanks!

Re: Preventing me to rent a house because of my guide dog

@first poster: I've a similar story. I live in Milan. Two months ago, i told my house owner that I was finally going to receive my guide dog. When I signed the contract, I had told her about it, and she seemed happy for me, so I didn't expect any problem. Unfortunately, the exact day I went to retrieve my dog, she phoned me telling that I couldn't enter with Teo in my house. We argued for a while. Finally, she agreed to let me in, but I had to start looking for a new home and to go away as soon as possible. Milan is full of houses to rent. Seriously, you just have to walk around to find a place that's good for you. Well. I've spent the last two months searching, because noone wanted my dog. It was too big, I was blind so I was unable to look after him, they where allergic etc. Fortunately, last week I've found a owner who accepted us. It was a frustrating experience, I'm so relieved it's finally over.

I need help for a degree thesis

Hi all! A friend of mine has decided to write his degree thesis on the European laws concerning the employment of disabled people. He's looking for every possible law, for example laws imposing a tax you have to pay if you don't employ a certain number of disabled workers, or a law that gives disabled people free days that they can use if they have to go to the doctor etc, or anything else. Unfortunately, the teacher who's supposed to help him find the necessary documents is too busy, so he has to do everything by himself. Can you help me to help him? He needs to find especially English and French laws. If you know something and want to contribute, just post here the number of the law or the link to a site that treats the subject. Thanks!

Hi! Post 1, you can find all the pdfs you want, but let's just say that, unfortunately, you can't obtain them legally. However, there's a good d app for IOS that summarizes the basic manuals, I can't remember the name right now, but it's really easy to find and very cheep. At Rory, you can play online if you find a group that plays via hangout or skype or another video chat similar to those. You should look on the web for dedicated comunities.

Re: Modern Board Games

Hi, I'm a board gamer too! Well, I'm more of an rpg player, but when you play rpgs its kind a easy to enjoy board games too, so I've collected some of them myself. I tend to prefer party games such as Wherewolf, Secret Hitler, The Resistance, Mascarade, Dark Lord and Vudù, although I think those last two are only Italian games. BattleStar was very fun the few times I played it, and the same goes for Seven Wonders. Talisman, King of Tokio and Zombie dice are quite good too, even if a little bit random, and I enjoy also card war games. For those, I suggest Summoner Wars for who's just starting, because it has a small map that you can reproduce with velcro and the cards are limited. Now I'm considering buying Dungeon Fighter, a game where you have to hit a target throwing dice in crazy ways, such as while jumping or by using the hand of one of your friends. And I'd like to play Carcassonne, but I didn't find how yet a way to make the map accessible.

Actually, if you double tap the voice message button and than you drag your finger upward without lifting it from the screen, you'll hear voiceover say recording locked. So, now you can lift your finger and the app will continue to record what you're saying. When you've finish, locate the send button, you'll find it where there previously was the voice message button, double tap it and you're done.

Just lounch the film-serie you want to watch, press on audio and subtitles, choose the audio described option under the audio header. I think there's also a specific category, but I've never bothered browsing categories so I can't confirm that one.So, you can't automatically read subtitles with talkback? Humm, another plus for me to stick with iOS for now, since I watch quite some anime and not all are dubbed.

The cons are that I have to do more passage for simple tasks like writing with a braille virtual keyboard and that I haven't find a scanner app I like yet.The pros of the iPhone are that I find it snappier, that I have all my stuff already backed up and that I've the scanner and an I.F. Voice dream scanner is my favourite mobile ocr app. I was able to get very good results with it faster then with any other app I've used. However, the multi pages feature supports only ten or 12 pages and after that you have to export in pdf, otherwise you load the memory too much and, if you save later, the phone freezes and you loose everything.

I'd like to go to england too... I had a friend there, can't remember the city though, who is on a wheelchair, and she was so impressed by how accessible was her life there. Hell, she lived in a college, and they gave her special fornitures for the kitchen that could be regulated in height so to be used comfortably both by her and her roommates.

Re: Any accessible bots for telegram?

15, I looked for them on google. There are a great number of lists out there. Just type rpg for telegram, or pool bots for telegram or whatever, and you should get some lists with some bots and the download links. Open those links on your phone and it will ask you if you want to open the bots with telegram. Double tap yes and you're done.Alternatively, if you know the name of the bot you're looking for, search it in the search field of telegram, the same you use to look for new contacts. From there, you can add them as they were real people.

Re: Good countries/cities for blind people?

Hi!I live in Milan, Italy, and I can assure you that's a great city to live if you're blind. First, the transports take you almost anywhere inside the city and they're so frequent that waiting 15 minutes for a bus to come is considered outrageus. Then, they usually talk to tell you the next stop and, even if it happens that the voice assistant breaks sometimes. Also, it's a city full of people walking around even at night, so the probability to find someone who helps you when you're lost or need something is high. There are also a good number of accessible trafficlights, although they could be more and better programmed, I mean, why do I have to find the trafficlights on my own? When I was in Dublin they rang all the time, it was not disturbing and it was ideal to know that you where near one. Also, Italy is an assistentialistic state. You have some privileges, like a pension just because you're blind and you pay VAT at 4%, so it can be a good reason to live here. I'm personally not a fan of this sistem, but having privileges can become very handy.Don't expect an utopia, I had my share of problems with my guide dogs and people who must help you at any cost without knowing how to do it or that treat you like you're stupid, but, actually, Milan is so accessible that it will become a problem for me and my boyfriend when he'll finally become a judge, because I don't want to move and loose this grade of autonomy and he'll be put to work who knows where.Oh, and there's really a culture of inclusion, because people come from everywhere in the world, so most people are open to diversity.

Re: Good countries/cities for blind people?

23, if you mean that there are lots of mountains, yes, but Italy is big! You can have mountains, hills, the sea, and big plain cities like Milan. Obviously the transports vary from zone to zone, they're more accessible in cities and less in small villages with a lower frequency, but I guess that's how it works all around the world. And mountains can be a plus, meaning that there are a lot of blinds who go skiing in the winter. However, I didn't say that all Italy is a good country for blind people. I'd stay away from the south, and also from Rome because of all the many problems they have with the transports. And I'd also stay away from the small villages in the north, I lived there all my childhood and I couldn't be as indipendent as I'm now. Milan, however, is a very great place to stay. And, if you don't like it, try considering also Turin and Bologna.

However, I think that the washable tags are a great idea. Also, if you whash everything at 30 40 degrees, you should encounter no problem with colours, I infact put colored and white stuff together all the time and make the loundry at this temperature and I never had any problem. But, if you need to clean something really dirty, better to divide them. Re: Moving out

Hi!I moved out when I was 19 to go to university, and I didn't know anything! Didn't know how to kook, I knew just the basics of laundry, didn't know how to clean the floor... Well, that's still a problem sometimes ahah. I learned everything through trial and error and google. I remember once I tried to clean the oil with the water, I'll never do it again in my life.At first I was alone. Well, I lived in a student house with 7 floors and lots of people, but since I'm very picky about people, I literally spent one year talking just with my friends on my phone in my little bedroom. It was very depressing. Then, I left university for another school and I changed the city. I lived alone for another year in a rented house on my own, I made some friends through rpgs and everything started going fine. I've changed 2 other houses since then, I even had a home sharing experience that I didn't like both for lack of privacy and for hypocrit home mates who said that they where ok with me taking a guide dog and, when he arrived, they called the lord to throw me out. All I can tell you is be propositive. Go out, talk to people, find people you want around you. Choose a house that's well connected with public transports, you don't want sighted people to accompany you everywhere because that lessens your indipendence and makes them less inclined toward you... They can say that's not a problem, but it will come a day when they are tired or who knows what and having you on their shoulder could create uncomfortable situations. Move also a lot on foot and don't be afraid to ask people what's around you, knowing well your surroundings is useful both for well, simply knowing what possibilities you have around you and for your sighted friends if they come visit you at home. It's also useful when you drink too much and you get lost, so you can ask people to point you in the direction you want to go and, if they don't know where's the street you're looking for, they might know the restaurant nearby or the gas station on the other side and they can help you.As for food... I come from Italy, so we do a lot of pasta, rice, meat, fish, vegetables. I'm lazy so I kook only the minimalistic dishes, but, if you want to survive, I suggest you get a pot, a pan, a microwave and a timer app on your phone. With the pot is easy to boil things so to make pasta, boiled eggs, boiled vegetables that you can garnish with sauces etc. You just need to learn the sound of the water boiling, it will become easy after a few times, then throw your food in the pot, put on a timer and wait for it to ring. It's better if you have a colander with hendels that you can insert in your pot, so, when you have to get the food out of the water, you just need to get the colander out of the pot and the food will be already dried with no dangers connected to the boiling water. In the pen, it's easy to kook meat or fish or grilled bread with the help of a simple fork to turn the food before it burns. Again, let the timer simplify the job for you. With the microwave, you can easily make tea or milk for breakfast, and you can also kook some premade dishes that are expensive but worth the price if you're hungry and tired. You can also get food from the food delivery service, though it's not so healthy most of the time and it can get very expensive - trust me, when I had the home sharing experience, I didn't want to kook in the dirty kitchen my mates always left, so I learned how to maximize the delivery from chinese restaurants... I ordered 20€ of dishes on monday and I used to survive until Sunday ahahah. For the bills, I too have set automatic payments and electronic bills, and I manage all my banking aspects through my banking app. If you'll decide for this, keep your password safe, so not to blame yourself for 3 days if someone happens to steal your phone like it happened to me.

Also, if you have the fixed model, it's best not to eat candys. Then, a little bit o-t, you could have some fever during the first days. Hi all! I've been following this topic since the beginning, but didn't write anything because... Well, because I don't know any trans and so I didn't have anything constructive to add to the discussion. However, I now have a question about gender. If, and I agree, if gender is a social construct, how useful is to identify ourselves as cisgender, transgender etc. I mean, how useful is to keep the word gender in this context, when the thing here I think should be getting rid of the concept of gender altogether in favor of being just yourself? And, for people who identify themselves as genderfluid or bigender: how can you identify in more than one gender, if gender is something that doesn't exist as a real thing but is just a construct? Thanks for whoever will answer me, I've always been very interested in sexuality and genders and whatever is usually thrown in the mix. I'm curious by nature, and I want to understand others so to understand also why other people don't understand them and, maybe, try to change their minds. For me, I'm a... Well, don't know the world in english, i guess polilover? Well, I don't believe in monogamy and, even if that's very very different from being trans, gay or whatever, it's still seen badly by most people in my country, so I can understand that we need to change things.

Re: Any fello transgender people on here?

179: I disagree about women being treated better than men in lots of cases. I can maybe understand where your opinion comes from, there have been cases of women denouncing stupers when they hadn't actually happened and, even if they where not true, those innocent men reputation where ruined. Or it can happen in divorces cases, when the husband has to pay a monthly fee to the ex wife to garantee her the same quality of life, and the woman is preferred for the growing of the kids. But, at list here in Italy, we have virtually the same rights, but we don't have them in practice. I'll list you just some examples:When we apply for a job, we are asked if we want to become mothers. If we say yes, is very less likely that you want obtain that job. Moreover, some employers ask you to sign a resigning letter in advance, so that, if you happen to change your mind, they can just compile it and they already have your signature. This is obviously illegal. But, with an unstable  work market as we have, it's better to sign that letter than to remain without that job. Even more: you may be in a very nice situation, your employers has no problems with you having a baby. But, when you finally become a mother, you practically have to choose if you want to work or to babysit, because your workplace doesn't have a nursery and the public ones don't match your timetables or are too expensive etc etc. You can say, ok, take some months of and then come back to work. But, again, if you taketoo many months of, you want be updated on your job anymore, and it would be difficult to pass the new projects to someone who doesn't know nothing about them. And yes, we have I think 6 months of garanteed in total, and we can divide them to use them both before and after the birth of the baby, but the payment you receive decreases gradually during those months.Another example, even if this is more about how differently we are seen than a question of rights: its happening more and more often that, on public transport, boys touch women taking advantage of the mass of people around them. I'll explain: imagine a buss full of people and a man who, with the excuse of making more space for himself, starts touching your ass, your brests and more. Even more, imagine someone who masturbates on you covered from the eyes of people because of the cramped space. Now, you would think that, when a woman denounces it, people would react. Well, usually, and I was there to testify it in 2 cases, usually nobody says nothing and, if you look from help by the police, the answer is: "Oh, it must have beenso shameful for you to be treated like that." Literally, that's the only reaction.NowThird example: think about all the countries where women still are considered inferiors. They can't study, they can't decide anything. They clearly don't have yet the same rights as man.
