[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Fenais da Ajuda- Marriage record help

It's Adriano Pacheco. How do I know? I cheated and looked him up. At the
end of the books are indexes for 1810-1836 and 1772-1810. That should make
you laugh.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel-Baptism record help

2018-09-25 Thread Margaret Vicente
Joseph, you're welcome.

Starting with the bottom link and the 'supposed' grandparents of Maria.
There indeed is a couple by the name of Elias do Rego and Maria Jacinta but
their marriage date is in 1818 while Escolastica was born/exposta in 1837.
Why they are mentioned as grandparents is interesting.

When legitimization occurred the birth record would be annotated to that
effect. There are no legitimization notes in Escolastica's baptismal
record.

Here is the link for Elias do Rego marriage to Maria Jacinta, right side.

Their first child, Ana-bottom left

Hi Doreen,
I found to, and I have a lot informatins about their parents. I send you
another day, because my bdd is on another computer forbidden of internet (hi
hi).
But, I search more about Francisco Correa Romeiro e Maria Augusta. On the batism
of Maria, her maternal grandparents are Francisco Coelho Pinheiro and Gertrudes
Candidad do Coraçao de Jesus. I have a Francisco Gonçalves Pinheiro and
Gertrudes Candida married in Altares on 14 june 1835 ((img 36). This Francisco
have a Nicolau Borges Coelho (3th grand father). Perhaps, he is the father of
Maria Augusta.
Paternal grandparents of Maria are Silvestre Correa Roeiro and Francisca de
Jesus. Their marriage is in Altares on é& junes 1845 (img 17); The parents of
Francisca de Jesus are José NUNES do COUTO (like Francisco sometimes).
Silvester is widow of Maria Vicência, and i Don't found this marriage. Maria
Vicencia died on11 march 1845, with 23 years old. Then she married a littel
time before 1845.I searched a Silvestre in Altares, name no frequent. And in my
bdd I have a Silvestre born in Altares, on 31 december 1809 (img 114). His
parents are Filipe Romeiro and Maria de Jesus. And his paternam grandparents
are José CORREIA ROMEIRO and Maria Josefa. Then, this Silvestre is probably our
Silvestre CORREIA ROMEIRO.All of them I have ascendents until the 6th or 9th
generation.

Great. I have continued to research these lines.

I found the marriage record for Antonio Coelho Berbereia’s parents, Jose Coelho
de Melo Machado and Isabel de Jesus.

Do not have Isabel de Jesus’s baptism record but her parents are Antonio
Ferreira Coelho and Antonia Narcisa and here’s the link to their marriage record

I also have the marriage records for their parents but will post tomorrow. I
need to get off the computer right now.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel-Baptism record help

2018-09-25 Thread Joseph Mendonca
Thank you Richard. The ‘Jose da Costa Canejo & Maria da Conceição’ that I
have found *are in different generations*. I haven’t found their marriage
records, but they are named in the baptismal records of their children and
grandchildren.

Here are the records which mention them:

1. LEFT PAGE, Maria.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1860-1864/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1860-1864_item1/P334.html

2.RIGHT-TOP, Jacinto.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1828-1831/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1828-1831_item1/P21.html

3. RIGHT-BOTTOM, Anna.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1796-1801/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1796-1801_item1/P7.html

It is possible that the ‘Jose da Costa Canejo & Maria da Conceição’
mentioned in records #2 and #3 may be the same couple and I’ve yet to rule
that in or out.

Thank you, Margaret. I had found that marriage record and it indicates
that the bride “Escolastica” was an exposta and baptized in Conceicao,
Ribeira Grande. I found her husband’s baptismal (b. 28 May 1828) record
which is #2 above and the one that started this thread.

I am interested in anyone’s opinion regarding ‘Escolastica’ regarding the
following information I’ve found thus far. I searched for Escolastica’s
baptismal record in Conceicao from 1821 to 1837 and only found one child
with that name baptized on 2 Nov 1837. And that child was an ‘exposta’.
If this is her than it makes her 15 years and 7 months old at the time of
the marriage to Jacinto.

Now, my question is: should I continue to look back further to rule out the
possibility of another considerably older ‘Escolastica’ who also happened
to be exposta AND should I continue to look further forward for another
considerably younger ‘Escolastica’ who also happened to be exposta. I have
seen it, but how much younger could she be? My gut feeling is that this is
her, but should I be a little more thorough?

Here is the record:

LEFT-TOP, Escolastica.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-CONCEICAO-B-1834-1842/SMG-RG-CONCEICAO-B-1834-1842_item1/P101.html

That’s not all!

I have found at least 6 children belonging to Jacinto & Escolastica from
1856 to 1873. The first 5 children’s baptismal records indicate their
maternal grandparents as ‘incognito’ due to the mother being ‘exposta’.
However, their 6th child born in 1873 names the maternal grandparents as
Elias do Rego & Maria Jacinta. I wonder if they married at some point and
should I look for a marriage record? But when and where? Here’s the link to
that record:

RIGHT-BOTTOM, Maria- continued on the next page.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1870-1874/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1870-1874_item1/P320.html

The name of the father and paternal grandparents are the same as in the
records of the other children.

I apologize for this long reply. I try to keep them short and to the point.

Thanks.

In this document it says his parents are Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel de
Jesus and her parents are Francisco Correia Romeiro and Maria Augusta. I can
not find the marriage of these two couples.
I have found the baptism of Maria do Espirito Santo, on the bottom of right
side of the page on this link
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1870-1879/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1870-1879_item1/P134.html

Here’s the really big problem: the birth of their first child, Maria, shows the
grandparents to be parental Jose Coelho de Melo Machado and Isabel de Jesus and
maternal Francisco Nunes and Amelia Augusta.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P71.html
Second child Jesuina’s record lists grandparents as paternal Jose Correia de
Melo Machado and Isabel de Jesus
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P102.html
and so does the third child Esperanca’s record
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P145.html
as well as the 4th and 5th children who are twins Francisco and Amelia’s
records.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P183.html

Then there is a change: for the 6th child Paulina’s record says her paternal
grandparents are Jose Coelho Berbereia and Isabel de Jesus and her maternal
grandparents are Francisco Nunes do Coito and Maria Augusta.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911_item1/P31.html
Now the adding of the “do Coito” to Francisco Nunes seem likely since I saw
that surname on Amelia’s baptism as her godfather Manuel Nunes do Coito. Also I
have been trying to track the Jose Coelho Berbereia for year now who seems to
change his name to Jose Coelho de Melo and Jose Coelho de Melo Machado. This is
very confusing because I believe this Jose is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo
and Isabel de Jesus, which is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel de
Jesus, which is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel da Conceicao who also
uses Isabel de Jesus( my 2nd Great Grandparents, who is the son of Francisco
Jose Berbereia and Joana Antonia.
This change in their name continues through the rest of their children:
Paulina #2,
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911_item1/P69.html
Joao,

 Hello,
I have really been having some difficulty in finding some marriage records in
the Santo António além Capelas freguesia on the island of São Miguel, and also
the Lagoa area.  From what I have seen so far in the Santo António freguesia,
the priest(s) was/were not always consistent with the names they used to
document the parishoners.  I don't know if this means that in fact the
parishoners had long names, and that when they stated them to the priest, the
priest only wrote down some of them, or if the parishoners sometimes just gave
the priest portions of their names.
The road blocks that I have hit in getting this section of my tree higher:
1.  I cannot find the marriage record for the parents of Francisco de Medeiros
Maura.  In the birth records of some of Francisco's children I have seen his
name documented sometimes as Francisco de Medeiros Maura, and sometimes
Francisco de Medeiros Pimentel.  The names of his parents (the grandparents)
have stayed constant in those records that I have found, and their names are
António de Medeiros Maura and Joanna Maria, António is a natural of Santo
António and Joanna Maria is a natural of Lagoa (Nossa Senhora do Rosario), but
I have not been able to find their marriage record.  I have checked Santo
António, but have not found it there.  I have also checked Nossa Senhora do
Rosario, Lagoa, but did not find it there either.  It's possible that I could
have missed it, or that Joanna Maria's parents moved to a different freguesia
after her birth, and that they were then married in that new freguesia.

I believe their son Francisco was born 1 August 1789, so their marriage would
have happened before that date.  I found 2 siblings born AFTER that date in
Santo António:  João in 1793, and Margarida in 1794, but no one before 1789, so
perhaps his parents lived in a different freguesia before moving to Santo
António?
2. I am also having difficulty finding the marriage record for Francisco de
Viveiros do Rego and Joanna de Medeiros.  They are both naturals of the Santo
António além Capelas freguesia, so I believe the marriage should have taken
place there.  I estimate the marriage to have taken place around the year 1767.
I have seen the name of Francisco de Viveiros do Rego documented sometimes as
Francisco de Viveiros, and sometimes as Francisco de Medeiros do Rego, I am not
sure if this was a mistake or not since his wife Joanna has the surname de
Medeiros.He was born 9 February 1748.
Joanna de Medeiros was born 20 January 1749.

Is anyone else researching these two families, or does someone happen to have
an index with this information in it?  I would be very appreciative of any
help.Thank you very much and kind regards,Lisa

Well where to begin…I’m trying to help a DNA cousin develop their tree.  Their
lineage goes through Antonio Coelho Berbereia and Maria do Espirito Santo.
Here’s is the link to their marriage record

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-C-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-C-1890-1899_item1/P26.html

In this document it says his parents are Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel de
Jesus and her parents are Francisco Correia Romeiro and Maria Augusta. I can
not find the marriage of these two couples.

I have found the baptism of Maria do Espirito Santo, on the bottom of right
side of the page on this link

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1870-1879/TER-AH-ALTARES-B-1870-1879_item1/P134.html

Here’s the really big problem: the birth of their first child, Maria, shows the
grandparents to be parental Jose Coelho de Melo Machado and Isabel de Jesus and
maternal Francisco Nunes and Amelia Augusta.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P71.html

Second child Jesuina’s record lists grandparents as paternal Jose Correia de
Melo Machado and Isabel de Jesus
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P102.html

and so does the third child Esperanca’s record

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P145.html

as well as the 4th and 5th children who are twins Francisco and Amelia’s
records.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1890-1899_item1/P183.html

Then there is a change: for the 6th child Paulina’s record says her paternal
grandparents are Jose Coelho Berbereia and Isabel de Jesus and her maternal
grandparents are Francisco Nunes do Coito and Maria Augusta.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911/TER-AH-RAMINHO-B-1900-1911_item1/P31.html

Now the adding of the “do Coito” to Francisco Nunes seem likely since I saw
that surname on Amelia’s baptism as her godfather Manuel Nunes do Coito. Also I
have been trying to track the Jose Coelho Berbereia for year now who seems to
change his name to Jose Coelho de Melo and Jose Coelho de Melo Machado. This is
very confusing because I believe this Jose is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo
and Isabel de Jesus, which is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel de
Jesus, which is the son of Jose Coelho de Melo and Isabel da Conceicao who also
uses Isabel de Jesus( my 2nd Great Grandparents, who is the son of Francisco
Jose Berbereia and Joana Antonia.

This change in their name continues through the rest of their children:

Paulina #2,

and Alexandrina

Questions:

DO YOU THINK THAT THE MARRIAGE RECORD HAS THE MISTAKE? OR IS THERE ANOTHER
REASON WHY THE BRIDE’S PARENTS ARE NOT THE MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS? hOW COMMON IS
IT TO HAVE A PERSON’S NAME CHANGE SO MANY TIMES (I’m speaking of Jose Coelho
(Correia) de Melo aka Jose Coelho de Melo Machado aka Jose Coelho Berbereia)

And is it just my luck or DO YOU THINK IT IS NOT LIKELY THAT ALL THESE JOSE
COELHO DE MELO(S) ALL MARRIED ISABEL DE JESUS(S)?

ANY FEEDBACK/DIRECTION/ADVISE/ETC WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks, Doreen Caetano
