I don't see that behaviour with material, playlist changes are
automatically saved for me. (I don't use any streaming services).

I cleared the play queue.
Started playing 1 track.
Saved the play queue as "kidstypiketest".
Waited until DSTM kicked in.
Added 2 tracks.
Looked at the m3u file in Notepad++, it contained the three tracks.
Restarted LMS, 3 tracks still there, in material and the m3u file.

Here's an alternative for music you only play occasionally:

Using Additional Browse Modes/Discs and folders, you can browse to, and
play music from any disc/folder attached to the computer that runs LMS
without it being scanned/added to the database.

I don't get this "Various Artists" idea, I don't have *any* track by an

I don't have anything in the "AlbumArtist" tag for *any* of my 25K

I have a lot of compilation albums, they work fine for me.

If your temporary folder isn't scanned by LMS, then you can use Discs &

How old is your 7.9?

It's there for me on the latest nightly 7.9.

How many favorites do you have on mysqueezebox.com, would it be too much
effort to make them favourites in LMS?

For starters, clear your playlist and just play 1 track, halfway through
that track an icon named "Song Mix" will appear in the playlist and will
start playing after the original track ends.
If you have an album loaded it will add the "Song Mix" towards the end
of the album.

Not sure if this has been noticed or is expected behaviour

In DSTM, choosing a named Playlist saved as a favourite to play after
the last track finishes (My Funny Valentine), the playlist plays ok, but
doesn't load in the list on the right-hand side, in the webui or Android
app. No artwork or track information on the "Now playing" screen on the
Android app.

You are aware that you can increase the number of items visible in the
playlist (right pane)?

LMS > Settings > Interface (tab) > Item per page > 100? 200?

You can also hide artwork, and collapse the player so it doesn't show
artwork which gives you more real estate.

Yes, you're right, I've just tried this and changes using an external
editor (Notepad) are not seen doing a "New and Chaged", or "Playlists

I'm not seeing this behaviour.
I started a saved playlist playing, deleted all but 2 tracks, saved this
now modified playlist with the same name as the original playlist. Did a
"Look for new and changed media files", the modified playlist correctly
shows only 2 tracks.
Or do you mean something different?

Yes, sorry, missed that bit.

Made a new playlist test04, deleted playlist file, scanned playlists
only, test04 removed and all tracks still in database.

Made a new playlist test05, deleted playlist file, scanned new &
changed, test05 removed and all tracks still in database.

Easy enough to delete a playlist or two without doing a clear and
rescan, just a few clicks.

If you keep your classical music separate from your LMS scanned folder,
you can use "Discs and Folders" to browse your classical music. It's
just like browsing files using "Music Folder" but the files can be
anywhere on your network. Tracks browsed this way don't get added to
your LMS database.

The "Discs and Folders" menu is player specific.

You need to start LMS on your Touch, then your USB/SD card will appear
under Remote Music Library.

I put my Christmas library on a SD card and put it in the Touch's SD
slot.

Album art for upcoming tracks isn't displayed on webgui or Squeeze
Control app on my tablet.

Playing via LMS on my Raspberry Pi LMS (study) does display artwork.

Just sayin'.

That doesn't answer the question.

Please try to answer this, cos we're getting nowhere.

Open Logitech media Server web browser interface, if your touch is
switched on and connected to your network you should see it in the
drop-down box top right. Is it listed there?

Does your LMS run if not started as a service? If yes, also when you
start it with the parameter, e.g. from a command prompt, like this:
 C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\server\SqueezeSvr.exe --nomysqueezebox

Sorry I wasn't brought up with command prompts and would rather avoid
suchlike.

LMS will start normally, then I stop it, and run a task I created in
task scheduler, this starts LMS with --noMSB.

I don't know why the task I created won't run on system start.

The first crash I was just listening to a playlist playing in another

Second time, listening to same playlist on my Radio in the dining room,
I went into lounge, using Squeeze Control Andriod app, I stopped the
Radio, tried to switch to Lounge player, LMS had crashed.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] --nomysqueezebox: disable all mysb.comintegration in LMS 7.9

2015-02-25 Thread kidstypike

Apesbrain wrote:
Sure, first disable the normal LMS service start:
Start Run Services (%windir%\system32\services.msc); scroll down to
Logitech Media Server, right-click to Properties, then Stop and
 Disable

Now create a scheduled task to run LMS --nomysqueezebox at Windows
 start:
 Start  Run  Task Scheduler (%windir%\system32\taskschd.msc /s);
 Create task:
GENERAL: give it a name and description, Run whether user is logged on
or not, Run with highest privileges
 TRIGGERS: At startup
ACTIONS: Start a program enter path to squeezesvr.exe; enter
 --nomysqueezebox in Arguments
Set CONDITIONS and SETTINGS as you wish.

Reboot and LMS should be started without the MySqueezebox Settings
 tab.

EDIT: A few things are not ideal about this solution but it's all we
 have for now:
 1. You need to remember to repeat the disable normal LMS service start
whenever you update your LMS version
 2. Windows can monitor running services and restart them if they crash;
a task at startup can't do the same.

Thanks for the detailed instructions, but I've struggled to get it to
work.

I disabled LMS in services, created a new task as you described, but it
will not run at startup, I can start it manually, but a prompt box sits
on the desktop, as soon as I close this, LMS stops. Plus the
mysqueezebox tab is still there.
I'll have another bash at this tomorrow

Thanks again.

seems to have prevented Spicefly Sugarcube from queueing up the next

I can tell when it's going to happen, because the playlist stops

to play albums via New Music only to have it play the prior album on the
list rather than the one I clicked.

I haven't reported it because I haven't been able to consistently repeat
 the behavior.

Could be related?

My problem is repeatable, add a new album, it doesn't show in New Music.
Stopping and restarting LMS has no effect.
Stopping, deleting cache.db and restarting LMS, the newly added album
shows in New Music.

Clear Rescan results in a completely empty New Music.
Stopping, deleting cache.db and restarting LMS solves this (until the
next Clear Rescan).

No, haven't played with it for a while. It should show the players'
 names though.

What change do you see (if not the mac instead of name)?

 --

 Michael

It shows mac addresses when the players are connected to my other
server, as soon as I connect a player to this server, the player name
appears.

The change I'm seeing is the list of mac addresses/player names, you
need to click on one to see the list of tracks that player has played. I
hadn't seen this before, just a list of tracks .. but maybe I'm wrong?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Playlist loading ....

2014-09-02 Thread kidstypike

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1409327717 @ Sat Aug 30 04:04:55
CUT 2014
Hostname: Geolap
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.76
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows 8 - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 8664
Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Audio::Scan: 0.95
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

I've seen this a few times in the last couple of days, where the
playlist doesn't load, just get a spinney below the playing track (pic
below).

It's not browser related, accessing LMS on another machine/browser when
this is happening gives same result on that machine.

Don't know how to reproduce it, the invisible playlist plays ok
though.

Playlist displays ok on my Touch and tablet apps.

Another difference between *local scanned files* and *Discs and Folders*
I've noticed: using Music Information Screen, I have my Boom and Classic
showing buffer fullness, KBPS and file type on the top line. But with
Discs and Folders this information isn't shown, instead it shows what I
would expect to see when playing a radio stream. Probably intended? ..
Dunno.

Can't get this to work.

If I attach a USB drive with say 1 album, I can browse to it via Discs
and folders, but clicking on a music file won't play it.

Also, if I wipe/reformat the USB drive and add another different album,
when I browse to it the old album is listed, clearing the browser cache,
doesn't help, I cannot get to the new album. (tried Firefox, Chrome and
