Stus-List Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: C 35 MK 1 bow water tank

2023-10-20 Thread Rick Brass via CnC-List
A couple of years ago the plastic tanks under teh settees in my cabin developed
cracks. I found the material could not be welded, nor could I purchase
replacements in the right size and shape. I ended up cutting the tops out of
the existing tanks and putting a pair of bladder tanks in the remaining tanks
shells. I had reservations about letting a bladder tank slide around under the
settees, or taking a chance on a puncture from the storage bins on top of the
old tanks. I lost a few gallons of water tankage, but I'm satisfied with the
new arrangement.

Has anyone had good luck with the Plastimo tanks?

2023-10-20 Thread Bill Coleman via CnC-List
I also love my little Crapsman Vac, I think maybe only a 2.5 Gal, but works
great for many things - Vacuuming Mast water, sucking the bilge dry, and as
you mention, winterizing.
I Tried a new twist which I think works better, instead of blowing the
water out, I disconnect the water line out of the domestic water pump which
is at the lowest point, and tape it onto the hose - then starting at the
ends, opening and closing faucets, valves until I have pulled all the water
out of the lines - I think this works better than blowing. On my 39, I
hung it up under the chart table next to the hull, never knew it was there.

Red Jacket needs to find a home. She’s been the market for a year and storage
fees are mounting so the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston is a
motivated seller. Why do I bring this up ? The rumour mill ( which I
confirmed ) someone ( Top management at the Marine Museum says it wasn’t them )
called the ship breaker and asked what the value of her as scrap was …..We
will never let her go to scrap, that is for sure but she needs someone who has
the passion ( and resources ) to take care of her.

I leave my mast up here in Marina Seca San carlos for the summer. There's
probably 200+ stored here. All on jack stands, hard pan, and wood blocks
under the keel. I remove sails, canvas, lines, and cover the boat with a
sunshade. I worry more about UV damage than the occasional 70kt winds.
