Bug#382903: Downgrade
severity 382903 important thanks Eduardo Silva a écrit : I've just remove at-spi, and xchat still works fine, like you say. I'm confused, because previously, it always crashed, even if I --purged the xchat and xchat-common, and removed the .xchat2 directory. Only after checking the error message, and installed at-spi, did xchat not crash (all from debian servers), so I imediatelly assumed the package was the reason (plus, it didn't give the error anymore). Bug#382001: Location bar can be spoofed
* Eric Dorland: I'm not entirely understanding the spoof part of the attack. The address bar has been hideable by popups since the Netscape 4 days, is this actually a problem? It's become a problem recently because with the advent of the yellow location bar, users use it to recognize secure sites (like it or not). If the real location bar can be hidden, you can easily supply your own, in any color you want. -- Florian Weimer[EMAIL PROTECTED] BFK edv-consulting GmbH http://www.bfk.de/ Durlacher Allee 47tel: +49-721-96201-1 D-76131 Karlsruhe fax: +49-721-96201-99 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#382914: Usermount does not work for a non-root user
Package: usermode Version: 1.81-3 After upgrading to debian-etch, when I try to start the program usermount for a non-root user, I just get the message: There are no filesystems which you are allowed to mount or unmount. Contact your administrator. The message is wrong, since there are several lines in /etc/fstab with the user option in them and the corresponding filesystems (floppy, cdrom, usb memories, ...) can be mounted with no problems by non-root users either from the console or from the multiload applet of gnome-panel. On the other hand, usermount seems to work OK if executed by root. Bug#382920: messages Xlib: unexpected async reply from allegro
Package: liballegro4.2 Version: 2:4.2.0-5 Allegro gives this message randomly when launching a program using its gui features (like raine : http://www.rainemu.com/) : Xlib: unexpected async reply Well apparently this message is because of Xlib calls made from different threads. The errors happens when launching the program, even before the X11 window appears, but it doesn't happen all the time (I'd say maybe 1 time on 3 launches ? - rather often). Once you get this message, the program is frozen, and you have to kill it with Ctrl-C. The bug DOES NOT happen with allegro-4.2.0 vanilla from http://alleg.sf.net/, so it's probably linked to 1 of the debian patches (I suspect the one about geting rid of libunshareable.a, but I didn't check it). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#364712: enter file name in filebrowser?
I am not sure about which file chooser this is. Surely I am no specialist for Gtk. My wish would be to get something like the file selector for Thunderbird's Save Message As (^S), but with Browse for other folders expanded. The important thing would be to enter the file name using the keyboard or copy-and-paste. Using Google I found this: http://members.chello.nl/~h.lai/gtkenhancements/filesel-new.png This looks nice, doesn't it? And I can use the keyboard. But even Gtk's old file selector, e.g. http://members.chello.nl/~h.lai/gtkenhancements/filesel-old.png looks different to Thunderbird's. Bug#382296: So? Shall we wait until we break the world record of identical bug reports?
Am Montag, 14. August 2006 02:44 schrieb Steve Langasek: However, there are cases in which we cannot reliably edit a user's smb.conf file, if it makes use of certain features. There is already a debconf question for this; I'm going to move this code for removing 'guest' into the corresponding block of the postinst. Good point. I missed that. Yes, there is: sed -i is not an atomic file replacement, so there is a window during which a failure (kernel panic, power outage, filesystem error...) would cause the user's smb.conf to be lost. I can't follow that. I traced the sed source code, and it seems that sed -i always writes to a temp file and then renames the temp file to the original file name. It is also careful to create the temporary file in the same directory as the file to be edited, so the rename should be atomic and there is no window for losing the original file. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#377651: closed by Christian Hammers [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Bug#377651: fixed in mysql-dfsg-5.0 5.0.22-4)
Hi, thanks for taking the time to fix the bug forked from apache2 that I originially reported. The init numbers for mysql-server is now 19 for both start and stop. For the stop procedure, I`d suggest that the number be higher, so that the mysql server is stopped later than applications using it. If e.g. some apps depending on it start and stop on the default, 20, they will be stopped _after_ mysql, which could cause problems. That was my original report about apache2, which is still valid, because apache2`s stop number is entirely wrong (stopped after the log daemons!). Please consider changing mysql`s stop priority again, to 21 or so. Thanks, Martin DBTS This is an automatic notification regarding your Bug report DBTS #377651: stop initscript has wrong priority, DBTS which was filed against the mysql-server package. Bug #380318 is being caused by libtool not having EGREP defined anywhere meaningful. EGREP's already searched for, and included in the Makefiles, but it isn't being exported as an environment variable or passed to libtool in any other way. As you can see, for most Debian systems, it isn't using the file_magic check, which is what is requiring the EGREP environment variable to exist. I would like to see a complete build log, and the original package this is happening with. Please point me to one. I cannot see how this should happen with upstream Libtool. Should texlive-latex-recommended depend on it then? That's one possibility. A recommends or suggests would probably be enough, though. After all its only one small component of texlive-latex- recommended that cannot be used without texlive-pictures. Another option would be to remove beamer and pgf from the texlive-* packages and depend/recomend/suggest the separate pgf and latex-beamer packages. cheerio ralf

So either boo should override the profile using -t:mono-1.0 or nant should be fixed/patches to not use the 2.0 profile by default. Thanks for the info. Bug#382700: CLR 1.1 vs 2.0 mess
On Sat, Aug 12, 2006 at 08:47:55PM +0200, Mirco Bauer wrote: first I thought the compiler is broken, but then I saw CLR v2.0 which means _bad_ things. I installed libmono2.0-cil which pulls the base CLR 2.0 packages in, and then booc didn't fail with that error, but with another saying the libs are not found. They libs are installed though, but since boo uses now CLR 2.0 it wants the 2.0 version of those libs (instead of 1.1 as before). So I installed the 2.0 versions, and the build was happy, but I am not. The resulting package depends on on the 2.0 runtime of Mono, because the compiler linked it against 2.0 instead of 1.1 Unluckily this is a problem now. I could add now the 2.0 stuff to monodevelop build deps but that is not fixing the cause. Boo must be able to link against 1.1 or 2.0 somehow, else all resulting libs or apps require 2.0 from now on. C# solved this by having mcs (C# 1.0) which links against CLR 1.1 and gmcs (C# 2.0) which links against CLR 2.0 Also I noticed that boo is not correctly fetching the binary dependencies with dh_clideps, but I guess that must be some CDBS problem since no other package has the problem. Probably is the make target too early or too late or something. Then you would not need to manually depend on mono (which is btw a bad idea since its a meta-package with 2 real deps). Well, to be honest, I only switched to gmcs (and therefore 2.0) because it seemed to be the default way for nant to build boo. I had a bug where nant failed to find gmcs. If you think its not a good time to be switching to 2.0 i'll look at ways of switching back or providing 2 version of boo, one built against 1.1 and other build againt 2.0. I suspect that the former will be good enough for now. I'll make sure I can build monodevelop before uploading. I'll certainly look into the dh_clideps problem, too. -- sam clegg :: [EMAIL PROTECTED] :: http://superduper.net/ :: PGP : D91EE369 $superduper: .signature,v 1.13 2003/06/17 10:29:24 sam Exp $ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Hi Robert, No worries! Could you try with the latest stock Debian 2.6.16 kernel? You can use optimised for your system, i.e. i686 and SMP at your convenience. Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal First of all, this is a 'contrib' package. Uninstallable for quite a long time thanks to missing various transitions. 4 RC bugs, including FTBFS and failure to uninstall. Security bugs. Vastly out of date with respect to upstream (#290245). Not present in woody or sarge, and already removed from 'etch'. Maintainer appears to be MIA. Bugs have been tagged pending for over a year, among other things. Has a relatively high popcon count for a removal candidate -- 25 for libvpopmail1 -- but given its severe out-of-date-ness, it is a snare and a delusion, and users are better served by downloading upstream. For instance if you want to search against the Source: field, you type: source:/shadow/ libapache-mod-auth-shadow libshadow-ruby1.6 libshadow-ruby1.8 login passwd or if you want to see all known fields, type that instead: #all source:/shadow/ You can of course query any boolean combinations of fields thereof ;-) I agree that there is still room to extend documentation and examples given, thus if you have any text in mind I'd be glad to add it to the man page and help code as well. Output has been stored in /tmp/texlive.fmtutil.dtq18928 Please include this file if you report a bug. Please send us this file. Unfortunately, I cannot do it now... I did not copy it from /tmp/ to a safer place so it was removed after a reboot. But I have looked through it several times and I recall that all the formats supplied with the base installation of texlive were built without any errors. The only error message was about omega format which is not in the base installation of texlive but was included in the teTeX distro. I copied that message to the bug report. I am afraid this is the only information that I can provide by now, I am sorry. This is quite unfortunate. Update tests teTeX - TeX Live belong to the usual testing procedure that Norbert (main TeX Live maintainer) is doing. So it would be interesting which special situation occurred on your system. Another thing that can be useful is that the version of tetex I had was from the stable distro (i.e. 2.0.2c-8). This, however, is very interesting and might well be the special situation mentioned above. Do I understand you correctly that you were running a testing system with teTeX from stable and then tried to update that to TeX Live from unstable? If so, then this update path is currently not supported. Whether or not it will be supported for Sarge-Etch once Etch gets released hasn't been decided yet. I think that this happened because of some configuration files left from the tetex installation in /etc/texmf/fmt.d Possible. Please send us the output of the following commands: ls -l /etc/texmf/fmt.d ls -l /var/lib/tex-common/fmtutil-cnf/ This will not have much sense now because to get texlive working I had to purge all the remainings of tetex. But again I remember that in /etc/texmf/fmt.d there was a config file of teTeX that mentioned omega format. When I purged remainings of all tetex-* packages manually (dpkg --force-depends --purge) and installed texlive packages anew everything went without any errors. Again very unfortunate. By the way, another question about omega. [...] I did not install texlive-omega. dpkg -S ebcdic.ocp says texlive-base: /usr/share/texmf-texlive/omega/ocp/misc/ebcdic.ocp I don't have my development machine here, so I can't check this. Are the other files from texlive-base, too? cheerio ralf

Another thing that can be useful is that the version of tetex I had was from the stable distro (i.e. 2.0.2c-8). By the way, another question about omega. In /usr/share/texmf-texlive there is a dir omega with the following content (ls -lR): omega: итого 0 drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 72 2006-08-13 23:18 ocp drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 72 2006-08-13 23:18 otp omega/ocp: итого 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 104 2006-08-13 23:18 misc omega/ocp/misc: итого 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1112 2000-03-31 13:54 ebcdic.ocp -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 56 2000-08-14 03:21 id.ocp omega/otp: итого 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 104 2006-08-13 23:18 misc omega/otp/misc: итого 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1629 2000-03-31 13:54 ebcdic.otp -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44 2000-08-14 03:21 id.otp Are these files needed at all? Bug#382820: ara: add ability to search source packages
On Mon, 2006-08-14 at 13:00 +0300, George Danchev wrote: It would be nice if ara could search source packages too. Unless I'm missing something, it cannot do this yet. I see. The ara's idea is that you can search against _any_ field known to the debian packaging system and you _always_ get binary package names as result. For instance if you want to search against the Source: field, you type: Hmm, ok. To clarify, I intended to search for packages that build-depend on cdbs and dpatch, but ara doesn't seem to support searching for build-depends (or any other field in the Sources lists, but not the Packages lists). For example: $ ara -q build-depends:debhelper (No packages). $ ara -q Standards-Version:/3.6.2/ (No packages). $ ara -q Build-Depends:/debhelper/ (No packages). Does ara support this? It doesn't seem to work for me. If it does, here is an example to list: ara -fields Source,Package -table 'build-depends:debhelper' Print the source and binary package names of every package that build-depends on debhelper in a table. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#382952: messages Xlib: unexpected async reply from allegro
Rectification : the problem happens also in allegro-4.2.0 vanilla, I was wrong. The easiest way to reproduce it is to run the program from gdb, then it happens almost 50% of the time when starting it, it's much more rare outside of gdb. So forget this report, it's not related to debian, it's related to allegro. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#382936: IPP Printer prints [EMAIL PROTECTED] ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL3GUI
We have the same bug in Ubuntu, see https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/55828. I have a HP DeskJet 3820 printer connected to a Debian Sarge print server (cupsys 1.1.23-10sarge1) and Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 LTS (cupsys 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06) used as print client. In the error_log of my print server I see that the requested file type is: application/vnd.cups-postscript, because of this the output of the print client gets run through foomatic-rip again. D [14/Aug/2006:11:04:37 +0200] print_job: request file type is application/vnd.cups-postscript. I [14/Aug/2006:11:04:37 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 1274) for job 72. Shouldn't the requested file type be application/octet-stream? Windows clients correctly send application/octet-stream and print without problems. I also found that altering the hpijs PPD for my HP DeskJet 3820 printer to have this line: *cupsFilter:application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 - And then install this altered PPD on my CUPS 1.2.2 print clients it seems to print because the postscript output with printing options is send to the server. The requested file type indicated by the server in that case seems to be application/postscript. This allows for server side drivers, meaning we only need the binary hpijs driver, foomatic-rip and gs-esp installed on the server and only the altered PPD on each client. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
