No sé pourquoi ... -- God is the tangential point between zero and infinity.

:( Luego no arrancó, evidentemente.
Abs valew! citrix which is what gotomeeting uses is extremely inaccessible not only with respect to the software's ability working with assistive technology/screen readers but also it's impossible to even communicate with support without going through a captcha. I don't know what software outofsight.net uses, but for sure it isn't anything coded with citrix and that site markets to the assistive technology/screen reader community so works quite hard at having an accessible software base. The system isn't backed up normally, as you would have installation media to restore it; you would just backup configuration. plasma desktop hangs on a not-so-lousy network-connection
hi everybody, since a while now (at least a year), KDE does have the following behavior: while the WLAN-connection is stable, every thing is good. moving my laptop (i.e. to the terrasse) where it often still has a 50% signal, the pbls. begin: while it rechecks/reconnect to the wlan, plasma hangs (menues, systray, etc all frozen, kwin still is responsable, can move windows) for a minute or 2! that happens on movment and also, while I don't move the box - just out of the sky on rechecking the connection. first, I used Network-Manager + plasmoid, which often was not able to reconnect. I had to manual stop the manager, sometimes reload the module restart the manager, then wait till KDE realises, that there is network again. after it had lost the connection once, it's keeping me asking over and over for the WLAN-secret, which was already in kwallet and too often, the only way out was to complety remove the connection and configure it new. then I moved to WICD, (for the price of loosing my comfortable VPN's setup). WICD is MUCH more stable, never asks for the password but still hangs plasma now and then. but seems to be 80% more stable. since I swapped hardware 4 weeks ago, it dosen't look like a driver/module-pbl. to me. (b43 before, iwlwifi now). I also see this on some laptops of friends, all KDE 4.4 - 4.8, wheezy. and I checked it with three different WLAN-routers - all same behavior. so, even if it's a driver-/network-pbl. the basic line here: plasma should definitly NOT freeze on a lost network connection. running on KDE-SC 4.8.4, wheezy, wicd 1.7.2.4-2, wicd-kde 0.3.0-2 kernel 3.0 ... .3.5-rc2 (all show the same behavior) all I see in the syslog is: wlan dropped connection and is trying to reconnect for a while. any hint's, how to prevent KDE from freezing? anybody sees the same behavior? and who get's the bug-report? kde for freezing?, kernel for dropping, one (or both) of the network-managers? cheers, günter log starts, with unpluging my ext. To be sincere, I'm a bit reluctant about the multiarch system. I would prefer playing with it on virtual/testing machines and not yet over production systems. In my experience, Multiarch is usable, but still a little buggy. I run sid and update about daily using aptitude. There were a few days when wine-unstable's packaging was a bit broken, but it seems to have settled down now. From that, I learned that aptitude's resolver isn't quite ready for multiarch just yet; it works in the majority of cases, but sometimes it wants to remove all your i386 packages and you have to fix (usually hold for a few days) the broken package yourself. But that's the joy of sid. To the OP, I would suggest that, if a 32-bit chroot works for you, then there's probably no need to switch: you get that added security of running the program in a chroot. Alternatively, if you want to switch, http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO should be what you need. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. A running mysql --tunnel-B localhost:3360 butc can't see 3360 onB Thanks Hi, Your current ssh command (assuming you are connection from B to A) presumably looks something like: ssh -L 3360:localhost:3306 A According to the ssh man page (try running man ssh and read the bit about the '-L' argument), you can specify the bind address as part of that argument. Basically you should end up with something like this: ssh -L 192.168.0.1:3360:localhost:3306 A where '192.168.0.1' is the ip address you want to bind to (i.e. the ip address of eth0, or whichever interface you want to use). The same method applies if you are using -R to create the tunnel the other way - again read the manual page, it's there to help you! I would think carefully about whether you really want to do this, as you will be exposing the mysql server to anyone who can connect to machine B on port 3360. Security is one of the main motivators for binding only to localhost by default (by both mysql and ssh). While doing so, open a terminal and as root type: tail -f /var/log/syslog There should be more information about the process that is taking place in background. Hi Camaleon, Thanks for your response, I should have clarified earlier sorry that the iwconfig output I pasted below is the output if it connected to my portable hotspot at the time I was writing the email. Not my billion home Adsl that I'm having trouble with Ouch! The SSID is currently broadcasted but you are correct also about a/b/g/n is available. I will disable these to make N the only speed available Just note that both, the AP and your wireless card(s) have to support the choosen speed, that is, if your wifi card(s) can only work at g speed your AP has to be set to support only g (or g alongside n → b/g/n). I will attempt these few tweaks when I get a chance tonight Don't forget to review the syslog! :-) Greetings, -- Camaleón -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. All I have to do to trigger a flood of error messages is to open Thunderbird :) Wonder why no one else is reporting it? I don't know... It's just that in this case my xsession-errors log grows to 300-600 k after a long session. Re: unique install question?
Hi lisi, Thank you! what your post shows, and what I honestly stopped trying to express is this. There is no such thing as a so called one size fits all blind user. Like every single aspect of the human experience, sight loss is a 100% individual thing. Just like sight presence. to claim that everyone uses anything the same is well... as nonsensical as claiming every rose is the same, or that everyone paints like Picasso...and not everyone cares for him! a buffet of options with an individual deciding what works from them uniquely is a far more productive stance than the efforts at uniformity. I realize those efforts are rooted in the human condition called insecurity. The fear of appreciating both what makes us treasured individual works of human art, and what we share as humans in a common way. But we have overcome limited thinking about others things before and can again. I appreciate the motivation behind vinux, but frankly feel like much comparative conversation that it does the individual a disservice. after all, my working from the accessibility is the same dictionary is how I got into the install mess I was in to start with...lol. I am partially sighted, not fully blind, but could not get on with it at all. The large icons (well, largish) and text are skin deep only, and all menus and things were running in the usual tiny print and were therefore unusable. I also thought that its speech was bad, and was thankful that I didn't need to use it. I found Knoppix-Adriane vastly better. Highly usable with adequate speech and a lot of text (so much easier to work with without pictures etc. messing up the text image). The version I saw was basically sans serif black on white. Great for me, though I realise that it would be less helpful to some others. I did not try to run it in speech because I am still very incompetent at that. Klaus Knopper wrote Knoppix-Adriane for, and with the collaboration of, his wife Adriane, who is partially sighted. I have version 6.2.1, and like it, but have not yet looked at version 7.x.x . why so many 'Unidentified subject!' in debian-user-digest?
Having rescently installed Squeeze and seen so many messages with no subject when reading the digest with mutt I assumed it was a problem with my setup but having now booted back into an older Etch install which never showed this before but does now I suspect there has been a change in the digest format. I've sent two messages to the listmaster but haven't gotten a response perhaps he's on vacation. Is anyone else seeing this problem? Is there a work around? Filezilla a security risk
I've just learned Filezilla is a security risk. It stores saved passwords and the last used password in a plain text file. Malware commonly scoops up this info and hacks web sites or shell accounts. The developer refuses to incorporate a solution such as master password and encryption into filezilla. His responses in numerous bug reports and feature requests are: 1. encryption: that's the file system's job 2. don't get the malware in the first place In my opinion, people should avoid filezilla. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
