[Bug 469116] Re: Error in Sudoku time keeping.

2009-11-01 Thread DrC
quote Why do you open a bug if you know it's a duplicate? /quote

Last time I had a similar error message I did not have the presence of
mind to keep the 'elapsed time' message on screen. I just cleared the
dialogue and went to Help - report a bug. I realised later that the
collected information may have been deficient in something useful, like
the source of the cleared error message.

This time I ran ubuntu-bug (help is not available with the dialogue box
open) while the error box was still live.

Ubuntu-bug did not pick up the duplicate, and I did not want to lose any
of the evidence - so I went along with it and opened the new bug. But I
tried to do it helpfully

If the evidence I have managed to collect is no more useful than that
already available, then this bug can be closed as a duplicate with
nothing to add.

Thank you. - Much appreciated.

I think this is probably a little different (as the behaviour changed on

Reposted here in case anybody else is looking for it.

sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gconftool --set

What I want to do, and I suspect many others want, is to click on the
'Floppy Drive' item in Places and have it show the contents of a floppy
disk. Not too dissimilar from accessing a cd drive.

What I have at the moment is the 'Floppy Drive' list item in Places.
However when clicking on it nothing happens.

How do I get the contents on a floppy disk to be shown by clicking on

regarding a yahoo protocol when i clicked connect nothing happened there

in the add box when i clicked it it told me no backend protocol was
installed for the protocol i was using what does this MEAN?? I
installed the telepathy core with no luck how do i create a new yahoo?
Also when i ran the assistant it seemed to im port the info from pidgin
and tried to work and for a reason i cant remember now i clicked the
help button and the whole thing froze and wouldnt let me do any thing

[Bug 372089] Re: Evolution mail dont save password keeps asking

2009-11-01 Thread Paul
I came across this

http://davestechsupport.com/blog/2009/01/16/how-to-remove-ubuntus-
password-keyring/

which babbles on about the computer asking for a password to unlock the keyring
when it started up. Not quite what we have been experiencing, but it is still
related to passwords and the keyring. Any way, it tells you how to delete the
keyring and then goes on to tell you to restart and when asked for a password
for the keyring to leave it blank.
I can remember that I left the password blank with the fresh install of 9.10,
which still isn't asking for passwords (yet).

If this doesn't work couldn't you just uninstall the keyring?

[Bug 469694] [NEW] Empathy Will not add Accounts

2009-11-01 Thread Druciferre
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I just upgraded to Ubuntu Karmic Koala, and I cannot get Empathy to save
my account settings. I have tried using the Import from Pidgin wizard
which has my accounts setup and is working fine. I have also tried
adding the accounts manually. But when I click on Connect, it does
nothing, and when I use the Welcome to Empathy wizard with the Yes,
I'll enter my account details now option, I enter the information and
it says The Supplied CM parameters were not valid. and if you hit the
back button it just produces more back buttons on the dialog (see
attached picture). I am really wondering why the Ubuntu developers
scrapped Pidgin for Empathy. I'm finding Empathy to be completely
unusable. The only thing I'm seeing it has over Pidgin is Audio/Video
chat. Which I haven't gotten that to work either...

[Bug 449360] Re: automatic proxy configuration doesn't work

2009-11-01 Thread cyco
I can confirm this bug. Gnome proxy settings are set to automatic proxy
configuration (a pac file location).

Starting epiphany from the CLI results in a message:
*** PAC found, but no active PAC runner! Falling back to direct...

and obviously no page is loading as my network does not allow direct
connections. Automatic proxy configuration in firefox works fine.

Ubuntu Version: Karmic Koala
epiphany --version
GNOME Web Browser 2.28.0

Using webkit engine (epiphany-webkit). I've also tried installing mozjs
or various additional webkit packages, but this did not help.

[Bug 469705] [NEW] evolution crashes on opening attachments

2009-11-01 Thread roze84
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hello everyone,

i installed Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala three days ago. After setting up
Evolution 2.28.1 I encountered a problem on opening attachments:

I tried to open a PDF attachment but evolution crashed - I had to kill
the process and restart the application.

I tried some other attachments and the issue only occured on some of
them (mostly .pdf, some .doc and .wmv were also effected) and only if I
used icon-view for attachments, using list-view seems to work properly.

[Bug 469722] [NEW] Karmic Koala does not automount usb devices

It looks similar when using udb hd's.

I have tried this with a usb stick (fat32), a 2,5 hd with ext3 and a
3,5 hd (encrypted with LUKS and ext3 as fs). It looks always the same,
no errors/warnings in messages. Manually mounting (with cryptsetup for
the luks disk of course) works perfect, no strange behavior.

It seems that gnome isn't getting the trigger to recognize these
devices.

This problem does not only apply to me:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1309239

I have installed karmic from the alternate cd with ext3 as fs for the
root fs.

Thank You,
sektor

[Bug 466389] Re: totem hangs when try to play DVD

2009-11-01 Thread Sergey N. Yatskevich
I investigate the problem in some more details and found that it is
happen only when I try play DVD-Video without menus. If I play DVD-Video
with menus it is shown perfectly. You can easy reproduce this problem by
build DVD-Video without menus from any MPEG stream with dvdauthor. This
DVD-Video perfectly played with xine and any hardware players but not
Totem+gstreamer.

Solution of this problem is very important for me because I have many
self created DVD-Videos without menus (with my Video Camera and
transcode+mencoder+dvdauthor).

P.S. there is another strange problem. I have DVD-Video that is played by
hardware player but not totem+gstreamer with symptoms:

2009-11-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: evince

After doing basic Karmic upgrade from jaunty on amd64 (MacBookPro 3,1) I
am unable to use evince correctly. Fonts can not be rendered correctly,
and thus menus are completely unreadable (fonts are rendered as small
empty square, see attachment) and PDF file content are not rendered at
all.

It seems that some others tools (Firefox for instance) get also troubles
with font rendering (I am however not able to give a simple example
yet).

I am able to fix the problem when stopping completely apparmor
(/etc/init.d/apparmor stop). The problem should thus come from apparmor
profile. Since I am not aware of how it works I file this bug so that
others people may fix it.

It seems I am not the only one to get the trouble :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8215308.

Bugs 452057 and 423687 seem very near to this one but are not the same,
since they have been fixed before karmic release, and the one I
described is not.

This bug seems to be a generalization of bug 439663.

Some informations about my config :

[Bug 467389] Re: divide sign appears as O with umlaut

2009-11-01 Thread Robert Ancell
Very odd... It also appears the k in Bksp is oddly shaped. Have you
tried adjusting your font in SystemPreferencesAppearanceFonts? Also
check ApplicationsAccessoriesCharacter Map and search for division
to see what it shows in there.

[Bug 467047] Re: Keyboard Shortcuts window ignores maximize

2009-11-01 Thread Ian! D. Allen
 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

Yes. To recreate it, do what I said to do, above: Try to use a keyboard
shortcut to maximze the window. Does nothing. Set your Titlebar
Action to be Maximize Vertically and then double-click on the title
bar of the window. Does nothing. Dragging with the mouse works.

 * Do you use compiz therE?

I don't know what that is. I did a standard install of 9.10 into an
empty VMware virtual machine. It never asked me about compiz.

Right now, same files moved to other directory triggered thumbnails.

SO it's not a issue with all OGV files, but is somehow specific to

this report. In mean time, this can be putted to wait state.

Thank you,
