[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1004314] [NEW] Firefox-globalmenu: Links that open in new windows don't get global menu
Public bug reported: When browser.link.open_newwindow is net to 2 (Open in new windows instead of new tabs), the globalmenu extension seems to miss it, and that window only gets a local menu. This is easily experienced by going to, for example, phoronix.com and clicking one of the links in the right sidebar. This doesn't seem to apply to windows opened by control-clicking on links, as they open properly. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004314 Title: Firefox-globalmenu: Links that open in new windows don't get global menu Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When browser.link.open_newwindow is net to 2 (Open in new windows instead of new tabs), the globalmenu extension seems to miss it, and that window only gets a local menu. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1004120] Re: Writer crashing saving in docx format
Luis de Sousa, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004120 Title: Writer crashing saving in docx format Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: To replicate the error: Download the docx file available at this address: http://www.camuss.dec.uc.pt/admin/wp-content/plugins/download- monitor/download.php?id=2 Open it and make some changes. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1003998] Re: Terminal window stays in foreground even if deactivated
** Package changed: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) = ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003998 Title: Terminal window stays in foreground even if deactivated Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, release 12.04 gnome-terminal version 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 1) I expect the application menu to be in front of the terminal window, if they collide in space. 2) I expect the terminal window to move back behind other windows if these get activated. 3) If the terminal window is visible in the front after an action like in (2) (well, it should not be, but if!) I expect it to further react on mouse actions What happens instead (yes, it's reproduceable) 1) the menu is hidden behind the window of the terminal application. As a ugly workaround I can resize the window to keep enough free space between menu bar and terminal window to show the menu nevertheless - but that's definitively no solution. 2) The terminal window stays in front, but is not active to any interaction any more. It can be reactivated by clicking in the dock (as a workaround). Minimizing a terminal window using the minimize-button in the windows title bar works as expected. 3) mouse actions are sent and handled by the next application that is on the desktop. Thus mouse interaction works correct as if the terminal window has been minimized as expected. I assume that it's one bug alltogether: * Using the on-top-menu of the terminal application, which is not part of the window in 12.04 any more deactivates the terminal window technically. The deactivated window seems to stay on top accidently. * therefore the menu as well as the other application are drawn behind the window, but that's again because of the first issue. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 958424] Re: [regression] Can't change refresh rate in Displays
I've got this problem too, but in my case, I've got an LCD in which refresh rate should be set at 60hz. However, the OS reverts it to 75Hz at every reboot. I think it can be harmful for my LCD due to overheat and overload. I'd found out that in Xubuntu 12.04 the problem doesn't exist, so I installed it yesterday at this is true. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 405902] Re: NetworkManager fails to connect at login; needs restart
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 405902 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405902 Title: NetworkManager fails to connect at login; needs restart Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager On startup, often I find that no network connections are working and that NetworkManager needs to be restarted (via /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart). If you start a Java program through the launcher which is not maximized after starting or if you have the window maximized and then de-maximize it by clicking on the de-maximize button, the menus are off-by-one. This means as soon as you opened a menu by clicking on it or opening it with Alt+mnemonic the menus and menu entries respond like if the mouse is one menu entry beneath of what the mouse is really pointing at. As soon as you drag the window by grabbing the titlebar or pressing Alt and dragging with the left mouse button, the menus are fixed. The window doesn't even have to actually move, you just have to initiate the dragging by pressing Alt and clicking with the left mouse button or by single-clicking on the titlebar. I suppose this is caused by the titlebar being removed in maximized state under Unity and restored when de-maximizing. During the de- maximizing i guess there is some resizing or moving event that is not correctly delivered to Java apps and thus the calculation of the menus and menu entries is not done correctly. Interestingly this seems to only affect the menus and menu entries in the menubar. Other buttons, drop-downs textareas and stuff is not affected. Using UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= or APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 doesn't have any effect on this behaviour. If NM is 'offline' (e.g. disconnected from wired and not associated with any wifi access points) then USC will not show reviews and will disable the Install button. This is fine if you use Network Manager to get online. If you have to use something else (for example to use pppoe) then you will not be able to install apps in USC, or read reviews. Other applications work around this by providing a 'Go online' option somewhere in a menu. For example Firefox has the 'Work Offline' menu item in the File menu which becomes ticked when network manger is offline. Perhaps USC could implement a similar feature? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 885988] Re: The software center Ain't really working at all...

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This does not really affect only myself, but also my little sisters computer. You can't really browse software center, it's REALLY slow... Also there is two banners at the top, it shows OpenShot and Braid -- it did that on my sisters computer a few days ago too. But, you can't click these banners; and I believe that the intention is that you should be able to do so and get directed to some program descriptor thingie. Also, I tried to search for OpenShot -- but the software center did not respond to that command (it did not hung up). I have not been able to install a single program with the software center, so I've been forced to use the terminal; Which is not a too big deal for me, but really, my sister is 11yrs and I can't really expect that she will grok the terminal anytime soon (I've tried to learn her git via the terminal once, which did not work out too well as she did not want to type any commands herself. Luckily, there were a few graphical frontends. I installed like five and told her to use to one she likes the most). I've bought a few games like braid, osmos and a few others, both to myself and my sister -- and I hate that I have to go to her laptop and install the stuff for her... You have major regressions going on with Ubuntu! It used to be _easier_ than windows! Also (in the past), the software center were the way I found out about useful software. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 881734] Re: Hide Banner
I would like to get feedback from our designer Mpt about the suggestions. ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881734 Title: Hide Banner Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: In Software-Center 5 which is shipped with Ubuntu oneiric ocelot a new area is introduced, which is reserved for featured apps and other promotions. There are four problems with this banner, which should be fixed. 1) The first banner should be the Ubuntu Software-Center Banner. 2) After seeing all features/promotions in a slide-show, there is probably no use, in seeing these again and again. So it would be useful to mark all slided banners in the list as slided and slide to the beginning, when the next one is a marked one. (In this case the Ubuntu Software-Center Banner is shown, cause it's the first one. You're also able to slide through the banners manually, so the information this area provides is not lost) 3) On little screens the banner takes quite a lot space. Instead of the big banner it should be possible to choose between three types/options: * Big banner * Notification area which informs that there are new features/promotions available. A Button enables the big banner for this session only. * Hide banner 4) It should be possible to select types of features/promotions in which you are interested seeing. (office, game, commercial, ...) Maybe it's easier to implement the banner as list like the What's new-List or Top rated-List. It would not take that much space, it does not slide all the time and if you want to see more, there is always the See more-Button, though the selective- features/promotions isn't available yet. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 899245] Re: Debugging exhibits is painful because of caching
Meh, LP ate my comment. So again: I reassigned this for now to the server, we can add code to the client to call webkit_web_view_reload_bypass_cache() when a debug env is set, but I am not sure if the reverse proxy setup we have will honor this or not. This sounds like a server side issue to me, but I'm happy to fix in the above way if that is honored by the caches. ** Package changed: software-center (Ubuntu) = software-center-agent -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899245 Title: Debugging exhibits is painful because of caching Status in Online service used by software center: Triaged Bug description: Banners that work in the https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/exhibits/ preview don't always work in USC, so they need testing in USC itself. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1001868] Re: Selecting property file or folder freezing it
Update: Just want to update maybe someone could help me. I have used the procedure (still trying) but the file that I get (gdb-nautilus.txt) doesn't report anything about the error showing up. However I attach one of file I got even the image of error (http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/7262/schems.png) that shows up. Maybe nautilus is not the program that throws the error I don'know. About this problem I can say that happens when I try to look at properties of a file or directory. After the error shows up if I want, using right mouse click, to see the properties I got the window frezzed for about 5 minutes, then it gets back alright as nothing happened. ** Attachment added: gdb-nautilus.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1001868/+attachment/3162410/+files/gdb-nautilus.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001868 Title: Selecting property file or folder freezing it Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Sometimes when I try to select (right mouse) the property of a folder or file, the system freezes the folder that contains it getting dark grey and a window shows up telling GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus).
