[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1263278] Re: Use FFmpeg instead of Libav
They can easily be ported to libavresample. With FFmpeg we can have both libswresample and libavresample. Asking everyone to use libavresample is a waste of resource and there is no gain at all. This would break a lot of software, produce more work for ubuntu developers, and would cause less software to build. Can you name a software that only builds with Libav? The fonts remained unavailable. They did not show up with xfontsel and when used (e.g. by xterm -fn) they are subsitututed by other fonts. Even more curiously, a bit of probing revealed that the font files were actually present in /usr/share/fonts/X11. Based on this article from 2008, it appears that this is a long standing and pervasive problem: http://www.oreillynet.com/linux/blog/2008/02/where_did_the_courier_and_helv_1.html I followed the method described in this article and added dir/usr/share/fonts/Type1/dir dirusr/share/fonts/X11/dir to the file /etc/fonts/conf.avail/51-local.conf and found that this made the fonts available. So in short, the installer for these fonts is broken. It installs the files but does not make the necessary changes to the font configuration files so that the fonts can actually be used. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1066599]
Hi, The upstream Mesa fix won't get distributions' libOSMesa right automatically. It seems that libOSMesa need to be compiled without --enable-shared- glapi while other Mesa components need --enable-shared-glapi Therefore, distributions need to build libOSMesa separately, which is not been done in Arch, Debian, Ubuntu currently. Is this the right way to compile Mesa? Is there any distributions already do things right? Would you file bugs to distributions? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1066599] Re: Wine is unable to detect OSMesa correctly when compiling from source
The upstream fix basically make it _possible_ to compile OSMesa without shared glapi. It seems that Mesa components except OSMesa do need --enable-shared- glapi . So I currently work around this issue as I don't install libosmesa* from the repository. Instead, I compile libOSMesa manually as: # Download and untar Mesa source autoreconf -fi ./configure --enable-shared --disable-static --enable-texture-float --enable-osmesa --disable-gallium-llvm --disable-dri --disable-egl --disable-glx --with-gallium-drivers= --with-dri-drivers= make sudo make install sudo ldconfig -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066599 Title: Wine is unable to detect OSMesa correctly when compiling from source Status in Mesa: Unknown Status in Wine: Won't Fix Status in “mesa” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm trying to compile Wine from source but everytime i run ./configure i got at the end of the log: configure: libOSMesa development files not found (or too old), OpenGL rendering in bitmaps won't be supported. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1125944] Re: (gedit:3366): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/oem/.config/ibus/bus is not root!
The reason for this bug is that when you start gedit or so IM module from IBus got loaded. As you do sudo, the user of IM module would be root. However, the ibus-daemon is started by the normal user in most cases, which would create ~/.config/ibus/bus if it doesn't exists. IIRC, this is the limitation of current D-Bus technology that two processes having different user (uid) cannot communicate. The warning is just the superfacial representation of it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1125944 Title: (gedit:3366): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/oem/.config/ibus/bus is not root! ** Package changed: ibus (Ubuntu) = ibus-hangul (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus-hangul in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660957 Title: ibus Korean(Hangul) duplicates previous character after moving to a different input entry with mouse Status in “ibus-hangul” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: ibus The ibus Korean(Hangul) has a bug that duplicates previous character after moving to a different input entry with mouse. For example, when entering Korean characters in multi form entries on a web site, if you finished one entry and move to the next one with Tab key, it is okay. However, if you move to the next entry with mouse, the ibus Korean(Hangul) duplicates the last character typed in the previous entry. Entry1 Entry2 가나 나 Even though I've never typed 나 in Entry2. By just moving the input mouse pointer to Entry2 by clicking it, the ibus Korean(Hangul) duplicates the last character typed. I guess that the solution would be to make a mouse pointer move equivalent to Tab key, thus the Korean(Hangul) automaton just resets its input buffer in this case also. Is it hard to implement this? Other input method like nabi has no such problem. Thank you. I will work with the creator, Armin Ronacher, to properly license his work Creative Commons -by 3.0. The 'Dawn of Ubuntu' wallpaper has been much requested and missed in newer versions. I see no reason for it not to be included as an alternate background. Once it is correctly under CC it can be decided if it will be included or not. http://lucumr.pocoo.org/cogitations/2007/09/21/where-is-dawn-of-ubuntu/ So why is that wallpaper not in ubuntu any more? The reason is a misunderstanding and my own personal lack of license knowledge. I released it with a limited CC license which was not compatible with the ubuntu license, just that nobody noticed till (edgy? feisty?) no idea. Anyhow. If someone is missing that wallpaper, you can find it in the art section. And if one wants to have that in ubuntu again, file a bug in launchpad. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 592109] Re: ZIP archives with non-ASCII filenames cannot survive a round-trip in File Roller (when p7zip is not installed)
As I mardek quite a few bugs as duplicate of this one. I'd mention that there is a simple workaround, install p7zip. The bug is caused by zip/unzip stack provided by Info-Zip. In particular, zip(1) seems to have no problem creating a ZIP archive with non-ASCII file name; the encoding used is UTF-8. However, unzip(1) just refuse to list any non-ASCII printable character in filenames. As FIle Roller use zip/unzip as one of its backend for ZIP, the same issue can be seen in File Roller. When p7zip is installed, File Roller would use it as backend for ZIP instead. Therefore, to hide the problem from end users, we may let file- roller depends on p7zip so that we can guarantee that we have a working ZIP stack. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592109 Title: ZIP archives with non-ASCII filenames cannot survive a round-trip in File Roller (when p7zip is not installed) Status in File Roller: Unknown Status in Ubuntu Translations: Invalid Status in “file-roller” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: If you have any accented characters in file names inside a compressed file, you'll get invalid encoding errors when you're decompressing the file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/file-roller/+bug/592109/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
