Same zipfile screwed me over too, if you boot into recovery you will notice it
now states Android Recovery instead of Firefox OS Recovery.

I managed to get out of this by installing clockworkmod recovery.

Thanks for the advice, but it is no longer necessary. I sent the phone back to
the United States to see if they can replace me.

Now, I want to clarify that happens to my ZTE. If you do that you tell me when
oprimos keys Power + Volume Up, what emerges is my Recovery, and from there I
have no access to or by fastboot or ADB.

If I press the Power + Volume Down button, what I get is a white background
with letters FTM, and from there, I can not access nor Fastboot or ADB Shell.

Anyway thank you very much to all who would help me. If I can not replace the
phone, maybe wait for another manufacturer put yours on sale, because we can
not trust anymore in ZTE.

 Hi Ernesto,

> Is there any way to stop the phone boot at any given moment? Is that
when it comes to the part where the fox goes anime, restarts, and can do
nothing.

maybe you just mentioned it in the previous e-mails but have you tried
entering fast-boot mode manually (i.e. by using power + volume up)? It's
the procedure described here and when my phone entered the reboot loop I
was able to fix it this way:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/ZTE_OPEN#I_bricked_my_phone

Note that I have to take the steps described there exactly:

- Unplug the USB cable
- Remove the battery and wait a bit
- Put the battery back in (without connecting the USB cable!)
- Push volume up and keep it pressed while you push the power button

This got me into fastboot mode alright so from there I was able to both
flash partitions directly (fastboot flash ...) and upgrade from the SD
card with the official ZTE image. If you use the official ZTE image make
sure you use a B02 build which has the unlocked bootloader, the links
for the B02 images are here:

I tried to put the boot.img I made a backup. But through Fastboot or ADB can
not, because the phone constantly reboots and does not give me time.

Is there any way to stop the phone boot at any given moment? Is that when it
comes to the part where the fox goes anime, restarts, and can do nothing.

Recovery By using the official ROM ZTE always tells me.

This could be a sign of needing a different boot.img. See:

This is due to a clash between the rilproxy that is baked in on
production devices and the rilproxy used in custom b2g builds. I'm
assuming you are flashing the result of a custom build? Rolling back
to stock should fix the issue.

Because these phose are $80. Cheap phones means cheap infrastructure
and support. Really wish they would just stop trying to lock them down
and just sell them rooted. 99% of these are being used by developers on an
alpha operating system. Why make them jump through all the hoops to be
able to flash nightlies to the device? I have no idea how much
influence that Mozilla has over them, but maybe Mozilla should just
take over the support for these and just buy the hardware from ZTE and
resell it.

Hello again :

Yes, I have installed the Android SDK . Use ArchLinux .

Right now I'm in Cuba, but my phone was acquired by eBay in the United States.

The problem started when I installed this ROM from ZTE :

http://www.ztedevices.com/support/smart_phone/176dd5a1-9d70-40a5-80ce-baa1c4ca6173.html?type=software

This first root the phone, and then installed CWM as well described in this
post :

http://pof.eslack.org/2013/07/05/zte-open-firefoxos-phone-root-and-first-impressions/

Version 1.1 of FirefoxOS began to have problems , for example , sometimes
touching the screen and not working. When unblocked the screen to put the code
on many occasions you had to lock / unlock, it did not work the touch.

Then I decided to go back to this version:

http://www.ztedevices.com/support/smart_phone/b5a2981a-1714-4ac7-89e1-630e93e220f8.html?type=software

But when he went into recovery mode and tried to upgrade from the MicroSD , I
was wrong. It did not work with this ROM, or any other .

I could not do root your phone again, no way, therefore, I could not install
CWM via ADB.

That is why we read in several places, many recommended using the update.zip
found on this page:

http://firefox.ztems.com/

And so I did. I upgraded without any problem, but when I restarted the phone,
the problems started.

When the phone turns on and gets to the part where the fox goes anime restarts.
It does not go.

Just before rebooting, I have 1 second to use ADB and thus access to fastboot,
but when I try to run a command, then restarts, and again, and again.

Contrary. I would be delighted if the eBay seller sent me a new phone. What I
mean is that this should not happen. ZTE should provide better support and does
not. In the end, what happens with these things is that many users end up
disappointed.

My particular problem is that after updating using the zip there is this site:

http://firefox.ztems.com/

My phone restarts when loading animation fox. Fastboot will not let me install
anything, it restarts. And constantly restarts, I can not use ADB to install
CWM.

Ernesto please file a bug as Daniel suggested and needinfo me on the bug.

Let's try to work together and see why your device is rebooting constantly. :)

2013-11-22 Thread Daniel Roesler
Ernesto, if you don't want to return the device for a new one (ZTE
exchanged mine for free), how about filing a bug report? I'm not sure
I'm fully understanding your situation, and troubleshooting is a lot
easier done in bugzilla rather than the email list.

Hi Daniel ..

And then what do I do? Do I use my phone ornament or paperweight? I not
understand why ZTE have to include checking the MD5 Recovery. If not for that,
I would have solved the problem.

You may (if a miracle happens) send me a new phone, but that's not the idea.
The idea is that somehow can solve my problem without having to get a new phone.

If I can solve this problem (though I doubt it), I will think 3 times before
upgrading FirefoxOS.

Right now all I feel is a huge disappointment for ZTE and Mozilla.

And in that second you do adb reboot bootloader?

Sure, but the problem is that I only have access to ADB for 1 second, and when
the phone restarts.

Therefore, do not have time to install CWM :(

I don't have the device so I don't know what FTM means but normally volume down
+ power should boot in fastboot. But if you can do adb commands that's not so
bad either. You could probably get cwm as decribed here:
http://pof.eslack.org/2013/07/05/zte-open-firefoxos-phone-root-and-first-impressions/
and once you have that installed (it requires a sd card) you have more freedom
to try other roms you may find on the forum.

According to Mozilla, to enable fastboot ZTE Open (inari), the phone must be
connected to the USB cable, press the power button and hold the button, but
this is not.

Before this happened, if reiniciba the phone and pressed the Vol Down + Power
buttons, I would get a blank with the letters FTM, but when running

fastboot devices

I did not return anything. Now, if you ran:

adb reboot bootloader

Restarted the phone and when the fox appeared, and I could access the fastboot.
Now that does not happen, then when it reaches the fox, restarts again and
again.

Since I'm about to get a zte open myself (against my better judgement) I should
get involved :)
Can you boot in fastboot? Maybe that way you could flash a different rom that
might work. Look in previous posts on zte open, some smart people have provided
lots of good advice for an otherwise Greek gift from zte.

[b2g] ZTE Open constantly restarts.

2013-11-22 Thread Ernesto Acosta
After installing the ROM of ZTE offers for Spain TME, my phone started to run
weird. With version 1.1 of FirefoxOS, the touch did not work well at all, even
at times had to lock / unlock the screen using the power key to make it work.

I tried to return to the previous version, but I could not. I tried other ROMs
but I could not. Then I downloaded the zip that is in this page:

http://firefox.ztems.com/

I put the update.zip on the MicroSD, upgraded and everything seemed fine, but
when it comes to the part of the animation of Fox, the phone restarts.

Just before, for a split second, I have access to ADB, but as I rebooted I
could not install ClockworkMod. The recovery of ZTE not let me install any ROM
that I have on the MicroSD.

This is quite frustrating. I think my phone will only serve me as a paperweight.

Could someone tell me what I can do?

Thanks
