Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Translations to French and Spanish

2013-07-11 Thread Jason Pickering
Hi Marta and Juan,
I have worked a bit on the translation server http://translate.dhis2.net/ to
accommodate the new structure of the translations. I think things should be
cleaner as well. It looks like I may have lost some of the translations in
the new Apps module, so you may have to redo those, but there were not
too many. I also synced the pivot table translations. If there are more
translations or variants which need to be added after this update, just let
me know once you are done translating everything.

Best regards,
Jason

Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Translations to French and Spanish

2013-07-09 Thread Jason Pickering
Hi Marta
Should the translations be synced from the server?

I need to redo the translation server completely so want to flush out all
the ones which have not already been synced with the source code.

Best regards,
Jason

Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Translations to French and Spanish

2013-07-02 Thread Lars Helge Øverland
Hi,

the renaming of files from i18n_module_xx_XX to i18n_module_xx is now done.

This means that we now can have country specific translations with fallback
to a base language, just like we currently have Brazilian Portuguese with
fallback to Portuguese.

This probably means that we must update the translation server.

I can see that we currently have no translations at all for the pivot table
module (dhis-web-pivot). There are only 129 strings there. Marta or Juan,
would it be possible to very kindly ask you to do that translation..?

regards,

Lars

Hi Lars and others,
Yes, I am afraid we will need to completely redo the translations server.
There is no easy way to migrate these languages from one to the other. Let
me think about it a bit but I think it will necessitate a complete redo of
the translations on the server. However, I have updated the server with the
latest from 2.12 so you can go ahead and translate it , otherwise, let me
know if you do not have time now, and I will do a complete reset of the

 Hi Lars and others,
Yes, I am afraid we will need to completely redo the translations server.
There is no easy way to migrate these languages from one to the other. Let
me think about it a bit but I think it will necessitate a complete redo of
the translations on the server. However, I have updated the server with the
latest from 2.12 so you can go ahead and translate it , otherwise, let me
know if you do not have time now, and I will do a complete reset of the
 translation server.

 Hi,

the renaming of files from i18n_module_xx_XX to i18n_module_xx is now
 done.

This means that we now can have country specific translations with
fallback to a base language, just like we currently have Brazilian
 Portuguese with fallback to Portuguese.

This probably means that we must update the translation server.

I can see that we currently have no translations at all for the pivot
table module (dhis-web-pivot). There are only 129 strings there. Marta or
Juan, would it be possible to very kindly ask you to do that translation..?

 Lars

 Hi all,

this thread from the spanish translators (well... from me)

About the translation, it was completed for 2.11, so anything new for
2.12 is not translated yet, would be great to have it updated.

About the spanish language group... It is true is not very active, but
every post has got an answer (untill now) ... I thing there isnt a lot of
movement because all memebers in that list are also here, and when we need
a high level of expertise we always end up in the english (experienced)
 list ...
I believe It may change as spanish speaking users get more and more
 expertise... what do you think???

Thanks for your your interest in helping out Juan M!

Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Translations to French and Spanish

2013-06-26 Thread Jason Pickering
For those of you who are not familiar with the whole process, I have setup
an online translation server to facilitate the translations of DHIS2 to
multiple languages, which does not involve the process of downloading the
source code and using the i18n tool. This is more appropriate when you are
using translators, who may not be familiar with these tools and just need
something simple, or for large groups of people who may just want to crank
out the translation collaboratively, and not worry about setting up the dev
environment.

What I mean by sync is that the translations on the translation server
need to be merged with the source code. Translators can do their work, and
then once they are done (with the entire system or a particular module) ,
the translations can be merged with a particular branch. Usually, we have
done this with trunk and then asked for backports to the stable branch. Up
until now, we have synchronized the translations with trunk, but in theory,
they could be merged with 2.11 or 2.12.

I have not updated this for a while though, but it is easily done. Some
translations teams (French) have preferred to use the i18n tool, while
others (Spanish) have preferred to use the translation server. Whatever
works for your workflow. :)

Hope this helps to clarify.

Best regards,
Jason

the translations can be merged with a particular branch.

Here attached the Brazilian Portuguese version of the End User Manual in
PDF (Figures are still in English/full text translated). Things are going
pretty hectic down here. I'll keep you posted as we progress with the other
Manuals and the interface of 2.12 to Brazilian Portuguese. Please let me
know if I should commit it to Launchpad as well or rather wait untill the
other manuals are translated.
