[slim] Two Transporters SE's For Sale
I've decided to get out of the 'Squeezebox business' and I'm selling both my Black Transporter SE's. I'm located near Vancouver, Canada. TRANSPORTER #1: This is a B-Stock unit I purchased from a seller on ebay a few years ago, who sold quite a few of them. I purchased it solely as a backup unit and I played it for an hour to make sure it worked ok and then I put it back in the box, where it's been sitting since. I also tested the remote. The accessories were still sealed when I got it. I don't see any marks on the unit but there could be the odd faint mark on the display if you shine a light into it. This unit was never registered. (IE Mac Address) ASKING $450 USD VIA PAYPAL. INCLUDES EXPRESS SHIPPING. [/B] (MORE INFO BELOW) UNIT WILL BE SHIPPED IN THE ORIGINAL BOX WITH ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIALS. 37045 37046 *TRANSPORTER #2: This one I bought new in 2016 from ebay's hotdogtec. (He finally sold out of them, WOW!) I've only used it 3 months out of each year I had it, and it was unplugged during the 'off time'. It comes with all the original accessories and the remote was only used about a dozen times. The display was on the second lowest brightness so it's 95% good or better. The unit is in excellent cosmetic condition. The display may show 'something' if you shine a light into it. The WIFI was never used. This unit was never registered. (IE Mac Address) [B]Asking $450 USD via Paypal. Includes Express shipping. * (More info below) Unit will be shipped in the original box with original packing materials. 37047 37048 I've been an active member here for years and I also have feedback on ebay and head-fi,org under 'majestyk'. _I_will_only_ship_to_the_USA_or_Canada_. Please note that Express (air mail) shipping from Canada to the US is $80USD (expensive!) so it's works out to $370 plus shipping. I can adjust the rate for Canadian buyers. I will only accept Paypal verified payments and ship to a home address. If I've forgotten anything, I'll update this post. +---+ |Filename: trans_2.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37048| +---+ Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115836 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Wanted Transporter (U.K.)
It's hard to find a DAC that sounds better than a Transporter. I have tried, as I wanted to switch to a USB setup. After unsuccessfully trying a few different DAC's I became the proud owner of a RME ADI-2 FS, but it didn't sound nearly as good (level matched) so I reluctantly sold it. After that I called off the search. So looks like I'll be keeping the Transporter for the foreseeable future. Re: [slim] Two Logitech Transporter SE's (NO KNOB) for sale
So far I can't find anything that sounds better than the Transporter. I thought I had it this time. It was an RME ADI-2 DAC. I loved this DAC and some how tricked myself into thinking it sounded better. (Probably a bias thing). So after my comparisons I boxed up the Transporters and put them on ebay. A day later I sat down and listened to my nice new DAC and BOOM...something wasn't right. Everything sounded clinical. I kept turning up the sound but everything sounded boomy and fatiguing. (Cymbals, for example, were very bright). So I ran to one of my boxed Transporters and dug it out, reinstalled LMS and played the same tracks and everything sounded right again. The problem with the RME is it has very poor midrange, which is why I had the urge to keep turning it up higher than I normally play music. (Yes, RME/Transporter were level matched). I'm not the first one to report this with regards to the RME. Anyway, I have no problem with the Squeezebox platform or the Transporter but I do almost all my listening with headphones now and would prefer a USB DAC setup. But as long as the Transporter keeps blowing away the other DAC's I try, I will keep it. (And the backup) Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110972 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Two Logitech Transporter SE's (NO KNOB) for sale
I've decided to get out of the streaming business. I mostly listen to headphones now and I just bought myself a USB DAC, so I'm selling both my Transporter SE's (NO KNOB). Transporter #1: Purchased NEW in July 2016 from ebay's Hotdogtec. In Excellent shape. The display is still as bright as it was when I got it since I used the blank-saver app and the 2nd lowest brightness setting. Comes with all the original accessories and packing materials. Transporter #2: Purchased as a backup on April 2019 from ebay's Onlyonedeal. This was sold under "Manufacture Refurbished". (He sold about 50 of these and got good feedback). One of the buttons (I believe it's the visualization) is a tiny bit further back than the others but works perfectly fine. It's a little cosmetic flub which is probably why it wasn't sold as new. Otherwise the unit is unused (except for testing when I received it) and in excellent shape. The accessories are still sealed. Comes with original packing materials. Both units have latest firmware. Asking $285 US each including shipping to anywhere in North America. Paypal only, please. You're welcome to check out my feedback on ebay, under majestyk. I've been selling there since 1998. To the OP... One thing I forgot to mention is I have disabled Windows Defender because it slowed things down. I installed Free Avira which takes the place of it. Been using Free Avira for years with no issues with LMS. If you want to try this (although i have no idea if Defender messes with LMS) here's how to disable Defender... (But make sure you have an Anti-virus with firewall installed) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn5T8-9_f_o Avira Free... https://ninite.com/ (Under security...don't download straight from Avira you get a whole bunch of other crap) And once again I really suggest WPD.exe. I suggest anyone who has Windows 10 run this. Well I know very little about networks and I just installed Windows 10 last week for the first time (previously was using 8.1) and it took me less than 10 minutes to have everything working. With a router it's even easier...there are no IP settings to have to adjust like you do with a crossover cable. Windows 10 updates can now be paused for 35 days. On 8.1 the updates never messed with my network. Can't speak for Windows 10, but I run LTSC which only has security updates. Re: [slim] Transporter issues- What do you use beside a PC with a Transporter
I have a Transporter hooked to LMS 7.9 on a Windows 10 PC. I use a crossover cable straight from the Transporter to the PC. I have also in the past used a switch and a router. I run both Squeezeplay and a home-brew program called FooSQ so I can use Foobar2000 to control it. I have ZERO problems with this setup. In fact, this is the most simplistic setup you can have for your Squeezebox device...although not ideal for the common user. This is probably not your issue but I suggest downloading a program called WPD.exe (just do a google search, it should be the first entry) and turn everything under Privacy Settings off. (Don't touch the other stuff). Sorry, I missed this post. I still use this script today and I've set it up on four different PC's with no issues. In order for this to work (unless you make your own changes) LMSFoobar2000 and FooSQ need to be on the same computer. Also, you can't run plain-vanilla Foobar2000. You need to run it in ColumnsUI mode with a theme. (Can FB2 be run ColumnsUI with no theme? Not sure) Also be sure the mac address that you input in the FooSQ file is correct. Finally, be sure Foobar2000 is booted before running the compiled FooSQ file. In my post above I have included a new FooSQ file. Re: [slim] SB3 Left channel has gone very quiet.
If you guys have another compatible PSU around, try that first. Although it's more than likely the PSU is not the culprit in this case, there have been other faltering Squeezebox devices that were remedied by a new PSU. Some Touch's for example have had remote control issues and certain owners did some soldering to repair it. However, other owners with the exact same issue were able to correct the problem with a new PSU. Mine never gets hot. On the left side, it's barely warm in the winter and gets a little warm in the summer. I suppose if it's in a closed cabinet (particularly if there is no ventilation at all) it's going to heat up more. I have a PS3 that gets super hot (even when off) if I close my cabinet. So I have to leave the door open. I'm aware of that. I ran LMS on a super slow Dual Pentium just fine, but even that had 8GB. I can't imagine what that PC would have been like on 4. Your PC is a dinosaur. Except for increasing RAM, there isn't much you can do to speed it up. I suggest saving your pennies for an Intel i7...or at least an i5. I would be more concerned if the time was counting and there was no audio. The fact that it's just not playing probably means it's not the DAC...that being said, I don't know why you wouldn't have audio from your CD playing, hooked to your Transporter. If this was happening to me, I think at this point I would reinstall LMS. And even try reinstalling the firmware on the Transporter. I remember years ago buggering up the TinySBS of my Touch and the only thing that made it work again was downgrading the firmware and then reinstalling the latest firmware. Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
Both routers were the same. Starting ip address 192.168.1.100 (Both) ip address range 192.168.1.100 to 149 (Both) Local IP Address 192.168.1.1 (Both) The only difference was the wireless router has some DNS entries...probably for the ISP. So I changed the "wired router" to 192.168.0.1 At first I STILL couldn't get ethernet and wifi to work at the same time. So I tried the metric settings again (giving wifi priority) and now it works. To confirm it was the manual metric that needed to be set, I switched back to auto metric and it didn't work. Went to manual again and it works. I still don't like having to do that. It seems like a band-aid solution. It's almost like when it's set to auto that they have the same priority, which shouldn't be the case. I just hope my Transporter/Joggler work ok with ethernet manually set to the lower priority. But I haven't gotten that far yet. I had a feeling that might be the issue. When I use IE to login, it actually tells me where I am logging into. IE reports that it's trying to log me into the WIFI PC downstairs. So how do I assign the "wired router" (upstairs) a different IP? Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
Anyone know why my added router would make my WIFI/Internet slower? Sometimes sites randomly take longer to connect. Once connected the speed is the same. Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
I seemed to have found the answer. Both are working now. (Haven't connected the Transporter/Joggler yet). In case anyone is curious the instructions I found were here: http://superuser.com/questions/479654/how-to-use-wireless-and-wired-connection-both-at-a-same-time-in-windows-7 "The trick is to change the network card priority" (Posted by Steve) Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105960 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
I got a used Linksys WRT54GL (with Tomato firmware) and when I hook it to my PC (using LAN 1 connection) my PC's internet via wifi goes bye bye. I have the routers WIFI disabled since I'm using it as a wired router. So to recap from above: -My Windows 8.1 PC is (or was) wired connected to a switch to my Transporter. (Fixed IP) -PC gets internet via WIFI from another PC downstairs. -I'm swapping the switch for a router because my joggler can't connect via fixed IP (using a switch). There is no internet connection going to this router. -Connecting the router (with WIFI set to disabled) disables my internet. Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
Can anyone tell me if a modern router would be any better for me than an old Linksys WRT54GL? I see lots of these on craigslist. Keep in mind that I'm disabling wireless...using wired only. I'm selling the Touch soon. :) (Will just have the Transporter and Joggler to control) Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105960 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
Sometimes I turn my PC (with LMS) off at night. I don't have a ton of files in my LMS directory to scan, so that's not an issue for me. How problematic could things get if I go from fixed IP to DHCP? For example, when I turn on my Transporter or Joggler (after rebooting my PC) will they be connected to the network? Re: [slim] Help! Joggler/Squeezeplay not connecting to network/LMS (No network options)
Ok, just took it down stairs again and hooked it up. That option is indeed there. Oddly it is not present on the PC version. I was getting concerned as the screen was quite bright. :) I just realized I had another question and I should have checked when I had it down there... When I quit Squeezeplay and the unit powers down, how do I boot up again? Tap on the screen? > eriously Ronnie I bet you shipped that Joggler in the certain knowledge > that when Fizbin plugged it in it would just work and he would get > exactly what he was looking for. And of course it would have but for I'm very impressed with the Joggler. It's bigger and better quality than what I expected. I just thought, on first boot, I'd get a few more options to START, including a Static IP option. I was going to try it on the switch again (since I awakened things by hooking it on the downstairs wifi) but I figure I might as well wait until I get a router. One question that just popped in my head... How do I change the brightness of the screen? I'm currently looking at my PC's Squeezeplay and there is no setting for screen brightness, other than the player that is being controlled. I'm wondering if Squeezeplay with Joggler has such a setting? (Yes, I know, I could always take it downstairs again and plug it into the router and find out but just thought I'd ask) Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105960 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
