Guys This is v. interesting and exciting, good luck. Just one thing, it'll never be too late to announce it was only a working title! :-) flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Choose 'Application' for your new document. Type into the search actions box: 'run shell script'. Type in the script: export USEPADEVICE=XMOS USB 2.0 Audio Out export USEPAMAXSAMPLERATE=192000 open /Applications/SqueezePlay.app Save the file. It is now an application like any other - you can double-click to run, put it on the dock, etc. To give it the Squeezeplay icon, locate the real Squeezeplay in Finder and select Get Info - click on the icon to highlight it, then copy and paste it into the Get Info of your newly created app. hope this helps you achieve what you wanted ff flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96328 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

HeadBanger wrote: Embedding artwork into every track rather than storing one single cover.jpg must increase the storage size required for your library? Granted they are not big files but over time and many CDs I would have thought that they would add up to a relatively significant amount of HDD space. Given I use lossless encoding, and the average length of a track - it would be about 1% of my library with 'hi-res' artwork, which I think isn't too bad of a hit. I am contemplating this approach for reasons outside of Squeezebox. For example, in iTunes on my Mac I can't find any other way for the tracks in one album to display the Now Playing artwork other than to embed each and every file (any clever person know how to do this?) It also means I can just copy files to my USB stick which I still use in my car and other places, and artwork shows up without fuss mostly flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98996 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Embed art vs folder.jpg?
Roland0 wrote: It will be processed / stored only once if it's the same picture for all the tracks. Thanks. So when scanning the library, LMS cross-checks the embedded art for each track and if it is a repeat of another track, they share the same cached files? And therefore once scanning is complete, there is no difference in storage or workload compared to a single folder.jpg with no embedded artwork? I looked long and hard for some basic info in layman's terms about this but couldn't find much. I think LMS when scanning the library makes one small and one large pre-cached image (potentially up to two cached images per track if they were all embedded with different images) - is that right? And these are ready-made for the thumbnail and Now Playing views in Players? I was wondering then what exact resolution are these images and where/in what form does the server store them? thanks again flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98996 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Embed art vs folder.jpg?
Possibly a dumb question, but if I embed folder.jpg into each file of, for example, a 10 track album (to make life easier outside of Squeezebox), does this cause ten times the work for LMS artwork resizing and caching (and use up ten times the cache storage)? Thanks. (I use iPeng, if this makes any difference.) flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98996 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

ralphy wrote: Start by turning off sound effects in squeezeplay Settings-Audio Settings-Sound Effects-None This fixes the constant switching back to 44100, at least for me, when natigating in squeezeplay on OSX. Hi, unfortunately this doesn't fix it for me (I had in fact already disabled sound effects). I have a couple of different pro audio interfaces and, as well as the built-in output, these still all suffer audible noises (I guess due to a rapid change of attempted sample rate lock by the DAC) when navigating 44.1k tracks, with corresponding 44100 switching observed. ralphy wrote: I've also added the ability in 'r247' (http://squeezeslave.googlecode.com/files/SqueezePlay-7.8.0r247.dmg) to use Core Audio Play Nice mode if the USEPAPLAYNICE environment variable is defined . Doing this causes resampling within Core Audio for the selected output device. Thank you so much, you have pre-empted my request - this opens up more options to avoid the noises than just downsampling server side to 44.1k. I have downloaded and am using it fine. I wasn't sure how to define the variables though - I thought I should keep USEPAMAXSAMPLERATE=96000 (in my case) in order for the server-client side of things, and for USEPAPLAYNICE I put 96000, although maybe any value works? flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96328 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezePlay for Mac OSX
Ralphy Thank you very much for this Squeezeplay build. I am enjoying the ability to select the output device - fantastic. However, I find that I cannot get the max sample rate with core audio pro mode to work nicely. For example, if the max sample rate is set to 96000, then a 96khz track will play fine if left untouched - but, whenever I seek within a track or change track, there are audible clicks or crackles. On opening OS X Audio MIDI setup, I found the cause - the sample rate is rapidly switching to 44100 then back again when doing these tasks. Even when switching to a 44.1k track, the sample rate switches back and forth between 44100 and the previous track's sampling rate before playing. I checked this wasn't a system issue with the audio player Audirvana (which uses a similar core audio pro mode to autoswitch sample rate) and this switches and seeks between tracks of different sample rates seamlessly. Perhaps this is a Squeezeplay issue that is insurmountable? Thanks (I am using 7.8.0 r242 on OS X Mountain Lion) flimflam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56891 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96328 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
