2019-10-28 Thread Harish Bheemanpally
There is not user with harish in *DB*(postgresql)
the harish is the user of *OS*.

As suggested by sacrac:

I have created a new user in DB with the name harishb who is the owner of
the DB and changed the setting.py still raising same error
when i am trying to run migrate or run the django

Call a custom python function during each model save

2009-09-01 Thread Harish

Hi Friends,

I want to call a python function, while saving each model... How can I
do this?

For example I have many application in a project
I have field in each model of the application and I have to access
the field just before the any model object is saved and alter a value
of that field. Here I can use save_model() function, but I want to
write a function once and each time when the model is saved that
function should be called

Any Idea for this...

Emailing a Application report automatically

2009-08-06 Thread Harish

Hi Friends,

I am working on a application which is using django. I have some
reports in the application. Currently all the reports are displayed
in the tabular formats in HTML. I just got a new idea of mailing a
particular report.
The report should be mailed to a person everyday at certain time say
(10:00 hrs)..

To generate the report, I am specifying python function/method in
crontab. I want the report should be converted to pdf ... and emailed
as an attachment.

Is there any free tool to convert the html to pdf or
Any better idea than  this?

Search Field Problem

2009-07-21 Thread Harish

Hi Friends,

Just refer the sample code below.

My problem is I am referring a Dependant models field in
'search_field'
it is working correctly but when i delete a record from 'Dept' name
from Dept Model
the Search for the firstname is not working..
For example

The following data is displayed in the Employee Model

Employee
FirstName   |  Last Name  |  Dept   |
-
AAABBB   Sales
BBBCCC|  Purchase

Dept
DeptName | Employee Name | Other Detail

Sales   AAA None
PurchaseBBB None

In the above example (data) if I Search for Employee 'AAA'
It produces the result. But When I delete the 'Purchase' record
from 'Dept' Table, and then Search 'AAA' in 'Employee' Table
It is not displaying the Record. (The record exists in the list)

I want to display the records of Employee when there is no record
exist in the Dept Model with Dept as None

# Code Snippet
class Employee(models.Model):
   firstname = models.CharField(maxlength=80)
   last_name = models.CharField(maxlength=80)
   salary = models.DecimalField()

   def __str__  (self):
   return self.firstname

   def getdept(self):
try:
dept = Dept.objects.get(pk=self.pk)
except Dept.DoesNotExist:
dept = Dept()
return dept.dept_name

list_display = ('firstname  ','lastname','getdept')
search_fields = ['firstname','lastname','Dept__dept_name']

class Dept(models.Model):
   dept_name = models.CharField(maxlength=80)
   empName = models.OneToOneField(Employee, )
   otherDetails = models.TextField()

  def __str__   (self):
   return self.dept_name

  list_display = ('dept_name')
  search_fields = ['dept_name']

Kindly reply if anyone has solution to this??

Searching IntegerField

2009-06-30 Thread Harish

hi friends,
I designed a model in django, which has a Integer field. When I
include the integer field in the search_list, the searching is not
working. I am using django 0.97 (when I gave 'django.VERSION' in
python interpreter it gave me (0, 97, 'pre') ).

the code is as follows

class Person(models.Model):
 name=models.CharField('Name',max_length=20)
 rollNo=models.IntegerField('Roll No', maxloength=12)

 def __unicode__(self):
return self.name

 class Admin:
 list_display=('name','rollNo')
 search_field=['name','rollNo']

Here search on Roll Number is not working

I do have the same instance of django ((0, 97, 'pre')) in another
machine, there it is perfectly fine. it displays the roll number

Can anybody help me with this

Thanks and Regards
Harish Bhat M

Implementing Dry principle through Validators in Django 1.0.x

2009-04-25 Thread Harish

Hi Folks,

I have implemented a simple custom validator. Here i am pasting the
Code
model.py
---
from django.db import models
from django.contrib import admin
from django import forms

class Personal(models.Model):
firstName = models.CharField(
max_length = 20,
blank = True,
null = True,
)

   age = models.IntegerField(
blank = True,
null = True,
)

 salary = models.DecimalField(
  max_digits = 7,
  decimal_places = 2,

admin.py
---
from MyApp.Personal.models import Personal
from django.contrib import admin
from django import forms
from django.forms import ValidationError

class DocumentValidationError(forms.ValidationError):
def __init__(self):
super(DocumentValidationError, self).__init__(_(u'Document
types accepted: ') + ', '.jo\
 in(salary.valid_file_extensions))

class PersonalForms(forms.ModelForm):
model=Personal
default_err_msg = {'invalid':u'Salary cannot be negetive',}
def clean(self):
super(PersonalForms,self).clean()
salary = self.cleaned_data['salary']
if salary is not None and float(salary) < 0:
raise forms.ValidationError(self.default_err_msg
['invalid'])
return self.cleaned_data

class PersonalAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin):
form = PersonalForms
search_fields = ['email']

Now my question is, Can we use the same validator for validating
another field.

In previous django versions (0.97) I was able to use the same
validators for validating two or more fields. Is it possible with the
django 1.0.x because we don't have 'validators_list' property in
models. In Django 1.0.x models and model admin are separated.

here my basic question is (if i am not wrong)why django is not using
the DRY (Dont Repete Yourself) principle with respect to
validators...

Can anybody explain to me if at all I am wrong.

Custom Validation in Django 1.0.2 Final

2009-04-07 Thread Harish

Hi Folks,

I am wrote a simple application in djang0 1.0.2 to check the custom
validation. I will past the model.py and admin.py code here.

model.py
---
from django.db import models
from django.contrib import admin
from django import forms

class Personal(models.Model):
firstName = models.CharField(
max_length = 20,
blank = True,
null = True,
)

   age = models.IntegerField(
blank = True,
null = True,
)

 salary = models.DecimalField(
  max_digits = 7,
  decimal_places = 2,

admin.py
---
from MyApp.Personal.models import Personal
from django.contrib import admin
from django import forms
from django.forms import ValidationError

class DocumentValidationError(forms.ValidationError):
def __init__(self):
super(DocumentValidationError, self).__init__(_(u'Document
types accepted: ') + ', '.jo\
 in(salary.valid_file_extensions))

class PersonalForms(forms.ModelForm):
model=Personal
default_err_msg = {'invalid':u'Salary cannot be negetive',}
def clean(self):
super(PersonalForms,self).clean()
salary = self.cleaned_data['salary']
if salary is not None and float(salary) < 0:
raise forms.ValidationError(self.default_err_msg
['invalid'])
return self.cleaned_data

class PersonalAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin):
form = PersonalForms
search_fields = ['email']

If salary is found negative it displays the error message in beginning
of the form(that is after the message 'Please correct the error below.
'). Actually it should display the error message in the 'Salary'
section

I think, I am missing something here.
Can anyone help?

Django-Logging Problem..

2009-03-07 Thread Harish

Hi Everybody...

I am trying out the Django-logging Middleware for my application.

I am using Ubuntu as an OS, with Python Version 2.5 and Django Version
0.97-pre-SVN-7049.

I just tried the way they specified in the following link
http://code.google.com/p/django-logging/wiki/Overview

This is my settings snippet
MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = (
'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware',
'django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware',
'django.contrib.auth.middleware.AuthenticationMiddleware',
'django.middleware.doc.XViewMiddleware',
'django.middleware.transaction.TransactionMiddleware',
'djangologging.middleware.LoggingMiddleware',

'djangologging.middleware.SuppressLoggingOnAjaxRequestsMiddleware',
)

LOGGING_OUTPUT_ENABLED=True
LOGGING_LOG_SQL=True
LOGGING_SHOW_METRICS=True
LOGGING_REWRITE_CONTENT_TYPES =True

The problem I am facing is that... It gives a Log-in information at
the end of the page but The Log message says "Request Log No log
entries." (In spite of using LOGGING_SHOW_METRICS=True )

I already set the LOGGING_OUTPUT_ENABLED =True; and
LOGGING_OUTPUT_ENABLED = True.

Is there anything wrong in my above step

Harish Bhat

oracle-django problem

2008-06-09 Thread Harish

hi friends

 i have a django application, which works on postgres as back-end.
now i want to migrate the application back-end from postgres to
oracle.

The problem i am facing is that, the existing data table names in
postgres is too long
(basically the table name is a combination of application name and
class name), which is not allowed
in oracle. (using oracle 11g) Basically oracle only allows 30
character as table name.

I am looking forward for any solution to my problem

Google SoC 2006 selected projects list

2006-07-20 Thread Harish Mallipeddi
Hi,I'm wondering if there's a page somewhere containing the list of django projects being funded as part of the Google SoC 2006. I found this page :
http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/SummerOfCode2006, but it seems to have not been updated after the results were announced. I'm interested in playing with a couple of ideas on this page, but it will be better to know if someone is already working on it so that there's no duplication of work.

I'm using A Small Orange for a small project of mine. They do not support mod_python - only FCGI. But I love their customer support - you get a reply within hours and are very helpful. Even though they do not support Django officially, they're cool with helping you to setup Django. So it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Repetitive background tasks

2006-06-27 Thread Harish Mallipeddi

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Anyways I looked at the kronos scheduler (pointed out by Canen above)
being used in Turbogears and what I wanted is more like this.

So currently the way I'm using this is to put kronos.py into the django
utils directory and then importing it from there. In a particular view,
I start a threaded scheduler if it hasn't been started yet and I assign
the repetitive task to it. This way the view's response is
instantaneous even the first time because the task will be running in a
separate thread. This seems to work for me!

Anyways I think it will be useful if Django has a scheduler like this
one included by default like TurboGears (actually it does not seem to
require much effort; just have to reuse the code in kronos.py).

Cheers,
Harish

Repetitive background tasks

2006-06-26 Thread Harish Mallipeddi

Hi all,

I'm wondering if someone could advise me on how to do certain periodic
background tasks with django? For instance, if I needed to retrieve a
list of RSS feeds daily to check for updates how would I do that?

Is there a way to do this by resorting to a solution within the django
framework and not some OS-level solution like cron jobs on Linux? I'm
developing on Windows and would love it if the solution is
OS-independent.

Cheers,
Harish
