[Elecraft] FS / Trade -- Elecraft KRC2 Band Decoder / Antenna Relay 8 Port Remote Coax Switch
I am offering for sale or trade an assembled Elecraft KRC2 Band Decoder / Antenna Relay Driver and homebrew 8-port remote coaxial switch that are surplus to my needs. Neither the KRC2 nor the relay box have ever been used or mounted outside in the weather. The KRC2 Band Decoder is a universal, programmable station control unit that can switch any combination of antennas, filters, amplifiers, or other equipment. It supports analog, digital, and RS232 control inputs, so it's compatible with transceivers from Icom (voltage level), Yaesu (BCD and voltage level), and Kenwood (serial or BCD via logging program), as well as Elecraft's K3, K2 and K2/100 rigs. More details on the KRC2 can be found at this link on the Elecraft website at this link: http://www.elecraft.com/KRC2/krc2.htm The 8-port switch is built in a gasketed waterproof box and is set-up so that both the shield and center conductor of any given antenna are switched at the same time with DPDT relays to fully disconnect unused antennas from the system. Teflon connectors and heavy duty relays are used to withstand full QRO power levels. Actual photos of both units can be viewed here: http://s993.photobucket.com/user/andyvavra/library/KRC2 Asking $125 (or best offer) + postage, or will trade for a KBPF3 General Coverage RX Bandpass Module Please contact me off-list at KD3RF at ARRL dot NET __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I use RMS Express with my K3 KX3 and wonder if I am the only one that has a problem. Every time RMS Express changes the radios frequency it also changes the mode to USB. I have to then change it to DATA so the TX RX equalizers are centered, PTT is selected, levels are properly set and on the K3 the rear panel connectors are selected. Re: [Elecraft] RMS Express
Hi John, In the TNC settings, you can check the box (for Elecraft Radios) that indicates USB-Digital. This will cause the TNC to set the K3 or KX3 to DATA A mode. There should be no changes needed to TNC module. The TNC has had this setting since at least 2010, but only for transceivers that support an external data mode - the K3 being one of these. 73, matt W6NIA / NNN0UET On Thu, 2 Jan 2014 07:33:05 -0800, you wrote: I use RMS Express with my K3 KX3 and wonder if I am the only one that has a problem. Re: [Elecraft] PSK-D Feature request
Early versions of the K3 DSP firmware allowed direct PSK via the FSK input pin on the ACC connector. Since no application software was ever written to support this mode, it was deleted. So, the documentation in the manual is correct for early code but was not edited to keep pace with the change. 73 es HNY, Lyle KK7P From Page 31 of version D10 K3 Users manual: PSK D is a Direct-transmit mode for PSK31. It’s the only mode that decodes and displays PSK31 signals with the text decoder (pg. 33). Like FSK D, *PSK D lets you transmit via FSK IN*, ASCII, or the keyer paddle (pg. 34). [Elecraft] Shipping. K3
I had a similar experience. I sent my K3 back to the factory a couple of weeks ago. When I took it to the UPS shipper here, he had to call UPS for special instructions since the declared valued was so high. I had it packed in the box Elecraft sent it back to me the last time I sent it in. UPS made me take it home and double box it. The cost to ship it UpS ground from TX was $78. It's on its way back to me now, I am sure in the single box with foam padding from Elecraft and the cost is in the mid $30 range. I'm not sure if it's the insurance or what but it's a big difference in both packaging and cost. I expect, that like YAESU, Elecraft self-insures, ergo the lower shipping cost. Insurance is quite profitable to most carriers, especially since they will fight you for every dollar !! 73, Dick, W1KSZ On 12/31/2013 11:20 AM, John's email wrote: I had a similar experience. I have shipped electronic equipment valued at $1500 in the manufacturer's carton at the FedEx counter with no questions. One time someone came in with one of those commercial fiberglass shipping containers, declared it as electronic equipment with valuation in the five figures, and was not asked to open or have it checked. I suppose that this would also be the case if the ham equipment was packed in a Pelican case. 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 From a Clearing in the Silicon Forest Beaverton (Washington County) Oregon __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Shipping. K3
I have used FedEx locally when shipping a variety of items, including some pretty pricey ham gear, as well as some pretty pricey pieces of art. When I have gone to the local KINKOS, they REQUIRE that they box it, and double box it if the value is above some specific amount. I recently needed to ship an FT1000D. They would not accept the box it was in, even as the interior box... and the box sizes they had available would have resulted in a HUGE final package, at a cost of over $60 for packaging, and another $80 to ship it to Burghardt for repair. They would not cut down any of their boxes to make the size more reasonable. Instead I took it directly to the local FedEx office, which is actually closer to my home, but not as easy to find. They had no problem with the my box as an interior box, but agreed that it was not in good enough condition to ship as it was. They cut down a box they had to end up with a double box of reasonable size. They did not charge for that, and the shipping was FAR less than what I would have paid if I went with the KINKOS option. I am fortunate to have that choice locally. Dave - K9FN On Tue, Dec 31, 2013 at 1:20 PM, John's email k...@att.net wrote: I had a similar experience. Re: [Elecraft] Shipping K3 in containers you want back?
I have sent items back in the manufacturers case only to have them returned to me after repair or whatever in a different carton altogether (NOT necessarily as sturdy or well padded as the original I had used). What done you do to get them to return the Pelican case instead of a cardboard box? I have purchased a surplus military case that was used for night vision optical equipment (heavy metal with twist locks, handle) and is really nice size for the K3 and foam (nothing extra) for transport but would be skeptical of sending it in because of previous experiences. What do you think? 73, Jim KG0KP Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Shipping. K3 On 12/31/2013 10:20 AM, John's email wrote: I sent my K3 back to the factory a couple of weeks ago.
