I think this is worth commenting on, not because it's
either true or because it "stung" me as he hoped it
would, but because this is pretty much Classic Jim.
He does the very thing he accuses me of, and makes
things up.

He *is*, after all, the guy who makes up stories about
his own supposed enlightenment. I don't think there
is a single person on this forum who *believes* any
of these stories, especially given *his* frequent fits
of rage and jealousy and lashing out, but he keeps
doing it, IMO for a number of reasons.

First, and worthy of some compassion, he's recently
retired and ain't gettin' no attention from real
people in his real life any more, so he has to troll
for it here and on Batgap. There, because those people
will believe *anything*, he might have a few suckers
who actually believe his made-up stories about his
own supposed enlightenment and how oh-so-superior
that makes him to anyone who...uh...isn't him. But
here, not so much. Most people just laugh at him,
and avoid confronting him over his obvious lies,
because he has a tendency to lash out and hold
grudges when anyone does.

Second, he's just not very *good* at making things
up. His "tales of the enlightened life" ring about
as true as they would if they were told by Dick
Cheney.

I feel for him, and for anyone desperate enough for
attention to feel they *have* to make up stories
about being enlightened to get any, so I've laid
off of him lately. But I figured it was about time
to poke him again so that he'll reveal his true
colors for a few newbs who don't know who and what
they're dealing with. Suffice it to say *how* he
reacts to this poking will say far more about his
supposed "enlightenment" than any of his words will.

As for our relative contributions to this forum,
well, I am the first to admit that I just use it
as a place to write hopefully amusing stories about
my real life. That life may *be* pretty boring to
many people, and that's understandable because a
lot of what I do involves just sitting in cafes
and writing. True, the cafes may be in Paris and
Amsterdam and Leiden and the south of France, but
I *am* sitting there and writing, so my stories
are actually true.

If there is anyone here who believes that *Jim's*
stories about his supposed "enlightenment" are
true, speak up now or forever hold your peace.

The 5th poster was me, Share. I sent Barry a post, given his penchant for
finding situations that make him unhappy, that I wouldn't be surprised if he
visited subway stations at random, just for the delicious indignity of being
jostled, shoved, and having hot liquids spilled on him.

For some reason, he didn't find it funny, as it was my only comment at the

whom I characterized as having nothing interesting
to say and as being so out of control that they
flood the forum with their garbage have followed up
on my *single* post with a total of *fifteen* posts.

In not one of them did any of them offer to cut down
on their inane post-flooding. In fact, they attempted
to "shoot the messenger" and avoid any responsibility

The bottom line on this is clear -- these five posters
"contributed" only slightly less that HALF THE TOTAL

don't think there's a problem with that, or with forcing
other people to wade through their crap.

I'm simply making the point that the phenomenon of
"people leaving FFL" is **NOT** due to Neo, but to a
few people who simply cannot control their motormouths,
and who feel they have the "right" to subject other
people to post after post after post after post after

Re "I also used EFT tapping to deal with cookie cravings" :

Share, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) IS PRECISELY MAGICK in Crowley's
sense!

Look, you want to achieve some result (say, to stop gorging on cookies). You
decide on some ritual (it's arbitrary what you choose - you could have decided
to recite backwards the first paragraph of George W. Bush's memoir while
standing on your head, but let's say you choose the EFT technique) and you say
to yourself: "Performing *this* ritual IS EQUIVALENT TO stopping my craving for
cookies." You do the ritual (in your case the EFT routine) and your
subconscious (which ignores surface, conscious rationalisation which is
thinking: "what the fuck am I doing this idiotic rigmarole for?") automatically
follows through. The ritual means: "I don't want cookies"; and afterwards
abracadabra you don't want cookies! It is so simple that people naturally
dismiss it out of hand as worthless. Those who have actually tried it (like
you!) found that it is effective.

Curiously, I used the Beast's ideas when I quit smoking. The gist of Crowley's
thinking here is that when a man (say) decides to stop a drug habit (let's say
smoking) his surface consciousness comes up with lots of reasons - my clothes
stink/it's an expensive habit/I'm coughing up phlegm/ . . . - but his deeper

up an uneven contest that he's destined to lose.

When I stopped smoking I did two things. First I decided to only stop for a

wouldn't be that nagging, horrid thought "I will never again know the pleasure
of inhaling on a cigarette". Secondly, as I've always been inordinately curious
about whatever takes my fancy doesn't that suggest inordinate curiosity is part
of my True Will? So I thought, I'll treat the experience of going cold turkey
as if I'd just ingested a novel, experimental drug and I had to keep track and
report back on what the effects were. In other words, I made the quitting into
a game - and a game that would just be a short, sharp shock. At the end of the
week I'd (more-or-less) sailed through the adventure and I knew I'd never smoke
a cigarette again. Hey, maybe I should set up shop as an addiction counsellor!

Seraphita, that's very cool about rituals and the subconscious. I would LOVE to
see that tested with an fMRI machine. Regarding EFT, as you probably know, it
involves tapping the meridian points of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). So
maybe we could call it Ritual Plus!

Basically you are showing a lack of "reserve" which is what the corporate world
would call it.  Your posts tend to be impulsive.  We been critical in the past
of this kind of OCD posting.  If anything TM should produce a quality of
"reserve" for people.  Apparenlty for some it doesn't and I think I know why.

Seraphita , you are correct, Congress exempted themselves and their staffs and
I believe White House  and staff from Obamacare. I'm sure there are some other
federal employees( guards, janitors, etc.) that aren't. For months now, Obama
has been giving exemptions to numerous big businesses, follow the
money,Meanwhile Labor unions, his biggest backers are screaming that they want
out as well and that Obamacare is hurting jobs. He's picking and choosing, who
is and is not, exempt at this time. Not sure if that's exactly legal. Since
when does someone get to pick and choose who is obligated to follow a law now
and who follows it later?

Seraphita, it's complicated, but it's not true that federal employees are

Rtam (Ritam) is cognate with the English word rhythm and
contains the meaning of universal order.

Since "mrta" means death - "a-mrta" (amrita) means deathless.
You can repeat it all you want, contemplate it in sanyama or whatever
and you will not become immortal.

These words are not forms of each other.

The phrase 'rtam' is related to the 'amrita' mentioned in chapter
17-19 of Mbh - the 'churning of the milk ocean'. According to MMY
'rtamrita' is produced in the human gut during the practice of TM
- otherwise called Soma in the Rig Veda.

The most popular version of the Indian myth 'Churning the milk
Ocean' is found in the Eighth Canto of the Bhagavata Purana. In
Buddhist mythology, Amrita is the drink of the gods, which grants
them immortality.

The phrase 'rtam' is related to the 'amrita' mentioned in chapter 17-19 of Mbh
- the 'churning of the milk ocean'. According to MMY 'rtamrita' is produced in
the human gut during the practice of TM - otherwise called Soma in the Rig Veda.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Vedanta and the Divine Feminine

2013-10-01 Thread Michael Jackson
Thank you for this inspiring alert about Mother Divine attempting to weasel
their way into other Vedic organizations, but I assure you the association will
not last long.

When WAVES finds out how absurdly arrogant these people are, particularly when
they discover the insistence on everything being Marshy Vedic this and that,
and that ONLY the TMO and all its branches have a lock on REAL Vedic knowledge,
the WAVES will part company with the TMO forthwith.

I quote the WAVES purpose "WAVES is a non-religious society with no ideology."
whereas the TMO is a Marshy Hindu religious organization with a hell of an
agenda, to wit, that everyone bow to the Movement and credit it with whatever
good happens in the world including the non-existent world peace and salvation
the world was promised but never received.

not one of them did any of them offer to cut down on their inane
post-flooding. In fact, they attempted to "shoot the messenger" and
avoid any responsibility for their own actions. I'd say that they
made my point about trying to "dominate" the forum for me. The bottom
line on this is clear -- these five posters "contributed" only
slightly less that HALF THE TOTAL POSTS MADE LAST WEEK. And they'll
do it again this week, and the next, and the week after that. And
they don't think there's a problem with that, or with forcing other
people to wade through their crap. I'm simply making the point that
the phenomenon of "people leaving FFL" is **NOT** due to Neo, but to
a few people who simply cannot control their motormouths, and who
feel they have the "right" to subject other people to post after post
after post after post after post...whatever they want to post,
whenever they want to post it. I'll stop talking about this now,
because unlike them *I* can control myself. --- In

The link you propose between such "techniques" and occult
or "magickal" practices is probably valid, if for no other reason
the all-important placebo effect.

It's growing stronger by the day, which is causing no end of
consternation to doctors and pharmaceutical companies.
They are literally unable to replicate the results of studies
that seemed clear-cut in the past, some of them for drugs
that are now approved and prescribed daily. In the old tests,
these drugs vastly outperformed the placebos; in the newer
tests, they can't. The number of patients reporting relief is
just as high for the placebos as for the actual drugs.

How does the placebo effect "work?" No one knows. But
they *do* know that it *does* work. There is simply no
question about it. It "works" better if the patient believes
it will work, and interestingly it "works" better if the person
delivering the placebo believes it will work. That sure sounds
like magick or occultism to me.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Vedanta and the Divine Feminine

2013-10-01 Thread Michael Jackson
I don't know why you characterize it as flaming - I'm just stating my opinion.
And there are more than enough people here on FFL as well as outside of FFL who
know exactly what I am talking about.

To wit: the TMO has ALWAYS taken a superior attitude, claiming that marshy knew
it all, his take on anything vedic was the correct one, he was the ONLY
spiritual teacher in all of India who had the enlightened awareness to "bring
forth the full potential of natural law" from any and all parts of the vedas.
And since his word on the various aspects of the vedas always supported him
being big cheese and getting all the money, that means the other vedic
authorities are wrong.

An example would be the old goat's assertion that south facing entrances are
wholly and always negative when other authorities on vastu veda say in their
material that this is incorrect.

On a larger scale, if you ever had any dealings with the Movement, you know
damn good and well that the Movement always builds itself up at the expense of
everything and everyone else. They have never been interested in sharing, or
creating coalitions to promote anything other than TM. That is the reason that
the TMO has never done anything to promote ayurveda with other organizations
like Vasant Lad's outfit.

As I have stated here on FFL I have spoken with people who attempted to create
a cooperative effort between Chopra's people and the Movement to promote
ayurveda and to have the TMO and Lad's people work together and the TMO
rebuffed both parties.

They had no interest in promoting ayurveda with others because it did not
glorify the TMO, nor would they get near as much money out of it as they would
if the other parties would slap both sides of their own heads as they said
"Lawdy Mercy! Massa Marshy done come up wid a betta kind-a aya-veda! Les all do
TM and forget traditional ayurveda in favor of the yuppie with money version
the TMO created!"

In the same vein I assure you that the only reason MD is approaching these
folks is NOT to learn from WAVES, nor promote vedic culture in concert with
them, but to get WAVES all practicing TMSP and eventually to make WAVES a
subsidiary of the TMO. That's the way they function, always have and always
will.

If you choose not to believe it, perhaps you should consider taking a course at
your local community college on not being so gullible.

One of my all time favorites, especially for Christians:

St. Peter is handling his duties at the Pearly Gates - ensuring all applicants
are accepted, or sent south - as he has, for the last ten thousand years, or
so. It being Heaven and all, Jesus happens to wander by, and notices St. Pete
is looking a little tired. Jesus, being the nice guy that he is, walks over,
and says, "Hey, noticed you've been at this gig for...millennia. I'll take over
for awhile, if you like." St. Pete looks at Jesus, smiles, and says ok.

So, Jesus is doing his thing at The Gate, "C'mon in!", mostly. After awhile he
notices an old guy, wandering around in the clouds nearby, looking out of it.
Jesus calls the old guy over.

"Hey old timer, how are you?"
"Well, I'm lost"
"Hmmm, OK, what can you tell me about your life?"
The old timer gets a faraway look in his eyes, "I remember a small town..."
"Yes?"
"and a woodworking shop..."
Jesus's ears perk up at this.
"...and a...a miracle!"
At this, Jesus looks at the old man, and exclaims, "Father??!!"

The old timer looks at Jesus, his face beaming, and he replies, "Pinocchio??!"

Perhaps the stupid country should fall. "US Government" is an oxymoron
anymore. Perhaps we ought to be 9 different countries instead, along
the geographical lines of the "Nine Nations of North America." That
always made sense to me. California, as it is, should be 3 states
anyway. The area would get 4 more Senators but we really do need to get
rid of Diane Fein$tein.

Then maybe we could have what other countries have and that is Single
Payer healthcare. Instead we waste trillions on foreign wars to protect
"American interests." Not they count on the public thinking "American
interests" are going after terrorists and establishing democracies when
really "American interests" are the US corporate pirates who want to
raid the country for it's resources.

Secondly we need to get rid of the AMA who keeps people out of medical
school who have a true interest in medicine and instead support the "old
boys network" of sons and daughters of mediocre MDs attending medical
school.

The last notice in the mail for the expired insurance coverage I have

It was probably the use of Marty Robbins' "El Paso" in the final episode
of "Breaking Bad" that got me thinking about it, but ever since I've
been on kind of a music kick, finding and listening to classic outlaw
songs. "El Paso" is obviously one of the greats in that category, but
it's another old outlaw song that's stuck in my head tonight, and it's
even brought back some pleasant memories about my time in the TM
movement, so I'll share them with you.

Back in early 1977, when I first heard the song, I was living at the TM
National Headquarters at the end of Sunset Blvd. I was working there as
personnel director for a few months before my Sidhis course, and lived
on the premises in one of the rooms (it was formerly a motel, for those
of you who never went there). It was a cool place to live -- a block
from the beach, next door to the Yogananda Lake Shrine -- and even
though I was making shit money I was earning precious (at the time)
course credits, so I made the best of living there.

It was there I first heard Emmylou Harris' version of a great Townes Van
Sandt outlaw song called "Pancho and Lefty." I remember listening to it
one night with my girlfriend, who I had had to sneak into my room, the
both of us feeling very much like outlaws ourselves for having
sex there in the TM National Headquarters. :-)

Anyway, it's a great song, and listening to it again in a Paris cafe --
all these years later -- I still love it. I also love -- all these years
later -- still feeling like an outlaw.

Dude...you and Thor seriously need to get a room. :-)

This is the Thor of which I spoke. No one in modern times has shown any
amount of God-Powers let alone Thor's full set of glories.

Just the knowledge of him and his world and all the attendant realities
would INSTANTLY allure almost anyone on Earth -- yeah, for egoic
reasons, but the allure to acquire such powers or even a fraction of
them -- if such is possible for humans -- would be irresistible to me.

Not that I don't get the limitations of any God's nervous system, but
when I consider HOW LITTLE MAHARISHI ACTUALLY DELIVERED AND HOW LITTLE
HE DEMONSTRATED, who here in the movement can say they'd be immune to
THE REAL DEAL?

Thor ain't no one-hit wonder who can get a few people to see him
levitating -- that kind of stuff can be easily denied by most minds,
but THOR? Are you kidding me? He's no Krishna, but hey, who wouldn't
want to just hang around his ashram?

It is this Thor that would disrupt virtually all social structures on
Earth just by him being known and proven to have his powers.

All major religions would have to explain him. All governments would
see him as a threat. The stock market would plunge to zip in fear that
the corporations' products would no longer be sell-able.

The whole of humanity would have to face what it was and how far from
the potential-of-us we are.

Good thing he wanted people to their mantras secret. That worked for a

they would recognize the beej mantras as ones that astrologers and

those mantras had been published for years in books on eastern

In all seriousness, Thor would never in a million years constitute
my idea of a hero, because he's lacking the most essential quality
I look for in one. He's not funny.

No awesome sense of humor, no hero.

I prefer Captain Tightpants. Dialog like this from "Firefly" is

An example would be the old goat's assertion that south facing

On a larger scale, if you ever had any dealings with the Movement, you
know damn good and well that the Movement always builds itself up at
the expense of everything and everyone else. They have never been
interested in sharing, or creating coalitions to promote anything
other than TM. That is the reason that the TMO has never done anything
to promote ayurveda with other organizations like Vasant Lad's outfit.

As I have stated here on FFL I have spoken with people who attempted
to create a cooperative effort between Chopra's people and the
Movement to promote ayurveda and to have the TMO and Lad's people work
together and the TMO rebuffed both parties.

They had no interest in promoting ayurveda with others because it did
not glorify the TMO, nor would they get near as much money out of it
as they would if the other parties would slap both sides of their own
heads as they said "Lawdy Mercy! Massa Marshy done come up wid a betta
kind-a aya-veda! Les all do TM and forget traditional ayurveda in
favor of the yuppie with money version the TMO created!"

In the same vein I assure you that the only reason MD is approaching
these folks is NOT to learn from WAVES, nor promote vedic culture in
concert with them, but to get WAVES all practicing TMSP and eventually
to make WAVES a subsidiary of the TMO. That's the way they function,
always have and always will.

If you choose not to believe it, perhaps you should consider taking a

It was probably the use of Marty Robbins' "El Paso" in the final episode of

obviously one of the greats in that category, but it's another old outlaw song
that's stuck in my head tonight, and it's even brought back some pleasant
memories about my time in the TM movement, so I'll share them with you.

Back in early 1977, when I first heard the song, I was living at the TM
National Headquarters at the end of Sunset Blvd. I was working there as
personnel director for a few months before my Sidhis course, and lived on the
premises in one of the rooms (it was formerly a motel, for those of you who
never went there). It was a cool place to live -- a block from the beach, next
door to the Yogananda Lake Shrine -- and even though I was making shit money I
was earning precious (at the time) course credits, so I made the best of living
there.

It was there I first heard Emmylou Harris' version of a great Townes Van Sandt
outlaw song called "Pancho and Lefty." I remember listening to it one night
with my girlfriend, who I had had to sneak into my room, the both of us feeling
very much like outlaws ourselves for having sex there in the TM National
Headquarters.  :-)

Anyway, it's a great song, and listening to it again in a Paris cafe -- all
these years later -- I still love it. I also love -- all these years later --
still feeling like an outlaw.

One of the problem with this kind of health insurance is that the
younger people have to subsidize the older people and the government has
to subsidize both. If you are a healthy 25 year old, why would you want
to pay $350 for health insurance, when you hardly ever get sick? The
real problem is not with the insurance, or with people's health - the
problem is the high cost of medical care and medicine.

Of course the US can annex other countries if they petition to join. Texas was
a free Republic once they gained independence from Mexico. Joined the Union in
1845. As a Repubic, Texas has always claimed the right to leave the union. Not
so sure the civil war settled that issue since the other states were never
independent republics. Texas also intered under the stipulation that it could
subdivide into five seperate states.

 Mike,

I actually believe that it's possible for the US to acquire other states in the
world.  It's possible for Canada to voluntary join in since the two countries
are already fairly similar in cultures.

Although the national language differs, it's also possible for Mexico to be
annexed just like all of the southwestern states, which were originally part of
Mexico before the Mexican-American War.

But given the fiscal turf battles in Congress at this time, it doesn't appear
the US has the power to unify the interests of everyone.
