one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA is fish oil. But,
it is relatively difficult for the body to convert it because it comes in the
form of triglyceride in a majority of the supplements.

The body has to convert the complex triglyceride form of omega-3 fatty acids
into ester form before they can be used by it.

Therefore, when we take esterified fatty acids in the form of fish oil
supplements for our Omega 3 requirements, the body has to do less work and
achieves greater benefit from esterified fatty acids, which are more readily
usable by our body.

In order to maximize the benefits from them, you should look for Omega 3 esters
that are made from purified and molecularly distilled fish oil.

only one I can find on the Internet has gotten terrible reviews. If anyone
around this area is using one please respond. I already have my 2 (brother

an an immune booster. My vet really doesn't seem to know a lot about FELV and
that's scary.

Thank you,

Hi Christy,

Hope it all helps Gray Kitty get better. If you know of any specific
studies done on LTCI and where one could look at the documentation of those
studies, I would greatly appreciate it. I have heard of cases where it
seemed to help and others where it did not. When I called them they would
not discuss any testing results with a non-vet. My vet called and he said
they had very little in the way of test results.

I am upset that Imulan took over this drug (bought it from the company that
developed it) and raised the price to a level that most people cannot
afford. I know they were seeking cats for a 30 day trial of LTCI, I'm not
sure a 30 day trial will yield a valid result about the drug.

2008-11-18 Thread Sally Davis
Gary,

You are right about the studies not being long enough. The company is still
testing the drug. It may be possible though your vet to get it as part of a
trial. I have no idea what is involved. I have heard from someone on another
group that her vet used to be in the trial for immulan and he feels the
drug is useful. He continues to use it for FELV cats. He however opted not
to continue with the studies because of the issue you bring up.

Sue I am not sure about a cat who critically ill whether this would pull
them out. Is it the anemia that is the problem, if so would a transfusion
buy you some time so you can get this treatment? When my Felv kitties
crashed they crashed hard. The choice was easy then, not to have them
suffer. I was lucky to have been able to buy Junior 1.5 years of time with
us. He did not suffer.

not all snake oil is good snake oil.

see where the data comes from, and whether or not the studies, and

The cost of each shot is $140.00. We have him on weekly injections as he seems
to do better. My husband was insistent about starting him on these since he
had researched it so intensely. We also have him on the homeopathic meds as
well. He is a true fighter. We know that since the leukemia has gone into his
bone marrow, we have a limited time with him, however, we are taking each day
that we have. To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2008

that, but has never used it before, so I am still thinking about it. Would
you mind sharing cost info with me? Tommy was started on two new medicines
- DMG to boost his immune system, and a homeopathic mixture of Engystol and
Galium as an anti-viral. I am very encouraged! On Tue 18/11/08 1:45 PM ,

Immulan injections. Our Vet had never heard of the LTCI until my husband did a
lot of research. He called the company and they have had good results with
Feline Leukemia patients. They have documented studies. These seem to be
bringing his Hematocrit numbers back up!

2008-11-18 Thread Christy Buchin

Gary,
I will ask my husband where he found all the research information. He spent
hours upon hours researching this as well as much as he could find on the
Feline Leukemia in general. Our Family vet called and spoke to one of the
doctors there and was told that they had some very good results. I do agree
that the shots are costly, at $140 weekly. We even had gone through UC Davis
here in California, where we live and they knew nothing about the Imulan. Of
course, we found they did not know quite a bit. We figured that why not try.
As soon as I find out the specific research information, I will forward it.

Hope it all helps Gray Kitty get better. If you know of any specific studies
done on LTCI and where one could look at the documentation of those studies,
I would greatly appreciate it. I have heard of cases where it seemed to help
and others where it did not. When I called them they would not discuss any
testing results with a non-vet. My vet called and he said they had very
little in the way of test results. I am upset that Imulan took over this
drug (bought it from the company that developed it) and raised the price to a
level that most people cannot afford. I know they were seeking cats for a 30
day trial of LTCI, I'm not sure a 30 day trial will yield a valid result
about the drug. Gary - Original Message - From: Christy

Hi Christy,

Thanks, I would appreciate the info.

WOW, $140 a shot is OUTRAGEOUS. When I started looking into it the shots
were $50 to $65 (I think that was about double what the original company was
charging)and I just saw a recent post where someone was paying $85. Either
Imulan has gotten very greedy or your vet is making a handsome profit for
giving a shot.

Here are two wonderful vets.

Betty Boswell: 502.499.9663 Betty can be hard to reach since she
rarely has office staff during the day. Just keep trying.

Susan Maier can be reached at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
502.722.8231. She has a nice website that I will try to attach to
this but I am having computer fits. Carolyn has had Susan's help
too. She did some sort of internship under Betty. If I don't get to
attach the website Google Simpsonville KY and Horizon Vet and it
should pop up.

I have complete faith in both of these doctors. Both have a lot of
practise with Felv+ cats.

Good luck and blessings to you and Autumn. She is very lucky and
knows it.
