There have been many moments during the beta period that I felt like
announcing my love of Flex to the world but I resisted. I can't hold
back any longer -- I LOVE FLEX! Ah, I feel better.

This is really a great platform and I want to sincerely thank all the
Adobe folks for their hard work. My job has been so much more fun
thanks to you. And thanks for taking the extra time to contribute to
this list -- it's enormously valuable.

Woohoo!

[flexcoders] Re: dynamic method attachment to SharedObject

2006-06-28 Thread Mick Robin
Hi Dominick,

Thanks for your inputs, but can you please ellaborate on this?

I tried to search on the client property for SharedObject. What I
got is:

client:Object  [read-write]

Indicates on what object callback methods should be invoked. The
default is this. You can use this property if you have two data
handlers that have the same set of methods, but act differently
depending, for example, in an application with two windows where a
button in one window toggles the view in the other window.

I am not sure what they mean from the above documentation.

I know this is too much to ask, but would you please explain it to
me with a snippet on the same?

Thanks in Advance.
Mick

Before adding Flex to the mix, recommend that you get

Some settings in /WEB-INF/jrun-web.xml, which you may find

[flexcoders] Flex 2.0 final: Flash player version check?

2006-06-28 Thread Jonas Windey

Hi,

I have just built a first test project in flex 2.0 final,
hoping that the included check for Flash Player 9.0 presence would work, but no
success.

Since 2.0 is final now, I was hoping that users would get an
automatic plugin upgrade, since that was the only thing that kept us from using
Flex 2.0 in a live application.

Any tips?

[flexcoders] Re: JTwain and Flex

2006-06-28 Thread tinywhistles

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your inputs. The flow which I have been able to achieve till now is :
1. An MXML file which calls a JS function embedded inside it (I was able to accomplish this using Abdul Qabiz's _javascript_ injector component).
2. The JS function opens a new HTML (popup) page which inturn has Applet tags tolaunch the applet which does the job of scanning.
3. To upload the scanned image, I have written a servlet. The appletconverts the java.awt.image object into a ByteArray and then by putting it into a serialized object, I am able to send the image to the server.
But is there a way to invoke the applet without having an HTML file to call it? That is, instead of Flex -- JS -- new HTML popup -- JTwain Applet, cant we just have Flex -- JS -- Applet ?
Your thoughts on this ?
Thanks, Rohan.
--- In flexcoders@yahoogroups.com, "Andrew Trice" [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Rohan, We are working on similar functionality here at Cynergy Systems. You will need to communicate with your applet using _javascript_. Have the flex app call a js function that communicates with the applet, and vice versa. You may want to look into the Flex-AJAX bridge at labs.adobe.com to see how this can be done.The Flex file upload components are used to upload physical files from the file system to your server. Look at the FileReference class (http://livedocs.macromedia.com/labs/1/flex20beta3/langref//flash/net/Fi leReference.html). If there is no physical file, you will need to create a method that allows you to send the image data to the server. This could be done using a servlet to open a socket between your applet and your server and send the image data across the socket (assuming you are using a java backend). _ Andrew Trice Cynergy Systems, Inc. http://www.cynergysystems.comBlog: http://www.cynergysystems.com/roller/page/andrewtrice Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Office: 866-CYNERGY From: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of tinywhistles Sent: Monday, June 26, 2006 9:37 AM To: flexcoders@yahoogroups.com Subject: [flexcoders] JTwain and FlexHi I am using JTwain to read a scanned image from the Client UI. Then, by using Applet-Servlet communication, I need to store this image in the server's file system. Though this has been possible to achieve, I need to keep my UI as Flex. So, I need to call the applet from inside my Flex UI and render the image on the browser. Also I need to use the file upload functionality to upload this image to the server. Has anyone worked on a similar engagement? How can I use the File-Upload feature to upload the image(java.awt.image object) to the server from my Flex UI ? Inputs please. `Rohan

[flexcoders] Duplicate variable definition

2006-06-28 Thread Jonas Windey

Hi,

In flex 2 b3, it was allowed to do this:

rivate function fcnTest():void

{

for (var i:Number=0;i 10;i++){

 //do sthing

}

for (var i:Number=0;i 10;i++){

 //do something more

}

}

In 2.0 final, I get Duplicate variable definition.

Should I only declare it once before every loop?

RE: [flexcoders] Flex 2.0 final: Flash player version check?

2006-06-28 Thread Jonas Windey

Ok, I tried it on a machine with 8.0
installed. What I get is a _javascript_ error on history.htm (permission denied),
and a message:

Alternate HTML content should be placed here. This
content requires the Adobe Flash Player.

Wont there be an automatic activex
updater available? That shows the install window instead of this alternate html
text?

Hi,

Since 2.0 is

that was the only thing that kept us from using Flex 2.0 in a live application.

Any tips?

[flexcoders] Flex/Cairngorm/CF upgrade notes

2006-06-28 Thread Tom Chiverton
Updated the Flash player OK in a WINE Firefox, but a freshly recompiled flex
app now has lots of nasty bevel borders on it. Unexpected.

The import's and dispatchEvent's in all Cairngorm 2beta apps need to be
changed, which is a pain but not totally unexpected.

According to the new complier, mx.rpc.Fault doesn't have a description
anymore, but the reference docs on flex.org still point at the 2beta3 docs on
labs so I can't see how to change our fault handlers. Pain.

*Finally* got a copy of the CF 7.0.2 updater, installs OK (SUSE 10 x86_64
linux). Starts OK. Version in CF admin reports as '7,0,2,142559', so it's
gone over the top of the 'Mystic' beta OK.
flex-enterprise-services.xml from Mystic has been renamed services-config.xml
but it's a simple cut and paste job to get destinations and channels copied
into the right bits of the new file.
Flex2 remoting to/form CF, Cairngorm 2beta, Coldspring 1 and Reactor latest
are all confirmed working OK.

I'm off to hack at our Flex2 code to get it to run with the new compiler and
Cairngorm now, wish me luck :-)

RE: [flexcoders] Cairngorm 2 Events ! Arghhhhhhhhhh !

2006-06-28 Thread Steven Webster

Hey Jean-Luc,

I'm in meetings all week, so you won't get much email
response from me for rest of week.

In the release notes, we talk of this, and we'll blog of
our intentions shortly ... but yes, at the end of the day the beta, and the
feedback we had internally and from the community, drove a number of discussions
that make us believe that it's a better practice - as we had in Cairngorm 0.99 -
to keep a separation of Cairngorm events from other events.

Perhaps one of the other members of the team will be able
to elaborate further; if not, I'll try and blog something on our design
decisions later next week.

Alex Uhlmann I believe is going to blog something that will
allow you to achieve a simpler migration path, but our expectation is that it's
not the most painful thing you're going to have to do.

And it was a _beta_ :-)

Apologies for the brevity,

Steven

[flexcoders] Expand all items of a tree

2006-06-28 Thread Jonas Windey

Hi, in flex2b3, I could open all nodes of my tree by doing
this:

treeTest.selectedIndex = 0;

treeTest.expandChildrenOf(treeTest.selectedItem, true);

Unfortunately, this isnt working anymore.

I tried treeTest.expandItem(treeData.node[0],true, false); ,
teeTest.expandChildrenOf(treeTest.firstVisibleItem), but no luck.

Who helps?

Re[2]: [flexcoders] Flex 2.0 final: Flash player version check?

2006-06-28 Thread Andriy Panas
Hello Matt,

  OK, I downloaded and installed an old :) Flash player 8.0.22 (no
beta, no debug) from
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp8_archive.zip
( BTW, this ZIP archive does not include Flash Player 8.0.24 installer for
Windows yet).

  So, I am sitting here in Kyiv, Ukraine, waiting for the ping from Adobe.com
to update my
Flash Player 8 to true Flash Player 9.

  May be today, may be tomorrow it will happen?!

[flexcoders] Flash Debug Player problems Flex Final (Help!!!)

2006-06-28 Thread sourcecoderia
These are the things i have tried. Win 2000 pro, IE 6.5

1:Dowloaded and installed Flex Builder (oops problem debug) = (no
good)

2:I have installed the debug player in the Flex 2.0 folder = (no
good)

3:Installed Flash player 9 from Adobe site + restart = (no good)

4: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 2\Player\debug\Install Flash
Player 9 AX.exe. Followed by restart = (no good)

5:I uninstalled Flex builder and reinstalled followed by restart =
(no good)

6:I manually re unreginstered all the alpha beta versions of the
player in the below mentioned directory and re registered the

FlDbg9.ocx version 9.0.15.0
Flash9.ocx version 9.0.16.0

retstart = (no good)

I'm running out of options here. Just keep getting the debug player
launch problem.

Any Ideas ? :(

Flex Builder Message when debug launched on any application:

C:\winnt\system32\macromed\flash\flash9.ocx

Flex builder cannot locate the required debug version of the flash
player. You may need to install the debug version of Flash Player 9.0
or reinstall Flex Builder. Do you want to try and debug with the
current version ?

Hi,
I have just built a first
test project in flex 2.0 final, hoping that the included check for Flash Player
9.0 presence would work, but no
success.
Since 2.0 is final now, I was hoping
that users would get an automatic plugin upgrade, since that was the only thing
that kept us from using Flex 2.0 in a live
application.
Any

Re: [flexcoders] FB2 :: Switchig Workspaces

2006-06-28 Thread judah
Hi Mike,

Glorious day! :)

FB2 is a full version of Eclipse. It is just Adobe's own distro (think
of the many Linux distros). So you can have all your features, plug-ins
and everything else and not lose any functionality. I think the goal of
making Flex Builder a plugin was so that everyone who has already been
using Eclipse doesn't have to change their existing setup.

I think an Adobe personnel would have to tell us if they hard wired
anything in their distro. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 I'm not using the plugin, never used Eclipse for Java and haven't used
 Ant. Just swallowing to many things at once. I have Eclipse installed
 and used the plugin for beta2 but, since I mainly use FB2 for
 component development I didn't see a need for the full meal deal.

 Am I wrong here? I asked this question awhile ago and remember someone
 saying that if you need certain things from Eclipse, use the plugin. I
 really am not an Application dev, so I didn't see the need.

 As far as I see it now with the standalone, using different workpsaces
 limits all the different projects that I don't want to look at given
 my current component development set.

 Peace, Mike

[flexcoders] Server Identity for FDS 2 in ColdFusion admin

2006-06-28 Thread João Fernandes

Hi there,

Im running CFMX7 in multiserver

Identity so we can have multiple instances running FDS support (beta 3
only allowed 1 instance).

My question is, how do we configure (and

RE: [flexcoders] Server Identity for FDS 2 in ColdFusion admin

2006-06-28 Thread Dirk Eismann

It's
the identity/sub node of the properties/ node of a
destination. Check the data-management-config.xml file inside your
fds2/resources/config folder, at the very bottom there are three examples how to
configure a CF destination and the first one ("cfcontact") lists this option,
e.g.

I finally discovered what the problem was. It turns out I was using the wrong ending tag in my FDS configuration file. It would be nice to get better feedback in the Builder for this type of error. Internal Build Error isn't very clear.

 Subject: [flexcoders] e4x filtering elements without specified children

 Hi,

 Some days ago I had asked a question about filtering on child's
 attribute for elements of
 which some of those children are missing. the xml I used was:

 var employees:XML =
 employees
 employee name=joe mark
 department id=id1/
 address city=miami state=florida/
 /employee
 employee name=sandra morey
 address city=san francisco state=california/
 /employee
 employee name=mary dooley
 department id=id1/
 address city=los angeles state=california/
 /employee
 /employees

 Note here that the second employee record doesnt have department
 element at all.

 Now I am trying to filter it the otherway around, ie., In the above
 xml definition I want all the employee elements for which the
 department child element is missing. Therefore I want the employee
 with name sandra morey above.

 I tried all these expressions to no avail:
 var noDeptEmployees:XMLList = employees.employee.(child(department)
 == null);
 var noDeptEmployees:XMLList = employees.employee.(child(department)
 == );

 var noDeptEmployees:XMLList = employees.employee.(department ==
 null);//throws error.

 var noDeptEmployees:XMLList =
 employees.employee.(child(department)[EMAIL PROTECTED] == null);
 var noDeptEmployees:XMLList =
 employees.employee.(child(department)[EMAIL PROTECTED] == );

 What is the e4x expression to get employee elements without
 department's.

 thanks in advance for the answer.

[flexcoders] Large scale app, how to proceed?

2006-06-28 Thread mthielman11
Hello everyone. I have beeen following flex for quite sometime during the beta
process. I
am currently beginning work on a large scale web based application. We are
basically
migrating several different apps, some web based, some java based, to a new
platform.
We have spent the last couple of months exploring a JSP based solution running
on Resin
and connecting to a java based API with MySQL on the back end. I am now
considering
flex.

The app is a medical management based app that will consist of several
different modules
which all provide different, though related funcitonality. Things like
browsing a medical
claim, enter a medical bill.

I have a couple questions.

1. IS flex well suited for large, multi module apps? Can it provide any real
advantage or
JSP?

2. Is the application just one big MXML file with many states or lots of
little MXML files?
Or a combination of some kind, such as each module is an MXML with different
states?

3. IS FDS the best way to interact with a java API or are there other ways?

4. HOw do I run the app? Can it run on resin? I see it can be deployed as a
WAR file but
have yet to figure out how to do that.

Sorry for all the questions. Flex looks very interesting, but I am nervous
that the learning
curve and not knowing the best way to do things will really hurt us. We have
been
building web based apps for years using HTML, CSS and JS and really have been
able to do
some really great things. But the idea of a single integrated front end dev
app without
worrying about browser issues is enticing.

[flexcoders] To implement Master Detail Datagrid in Flex

2006-06-28 Thread Yasovardhan Babu
Hi,

We need to implement the Master Detail grid in Flex.The requirement
is as follows:

Whenever an item in Master Data Grid is selected,
1)we need to shrink the parent grid to show only the selected item
(row) plus a few items(2) above and below the selected item,

2)open a Detail Data grid below the Master grid and show all the
child items corresponding to the Master grid item(selected).

It's not necessary to change any item in the detail grid.
Whenever the parent grid is selected again, the detail grid is made
invisible and the parent grid is shown completely.

Can you please help with code how to do this?

Thanks  Regards,
Yasovardhan.

RE: [flexcoders] macromedia.css.LocatorParser Problem

2006-06-28 Thread Cathy Reilly
This Beta 3 issue will be fixed in the final version.

In the meantime, Flex 2b3 should be run in its own VM separate from Flex
1.x and prior betas.
Again, this will be fixed and these restrictions will be lifted.

[flexcoders] Flex Builder 2 - Intel Mac etc

2006-06-28 Thread Wayne McFetridge
As the purchase of Flex Builder 2 is almost upon me I need some clarity
on where/what may happen in regards to Intel Macs.

I'm hoping to make the switch sometime soon( end of 2006) and wondered
what the ramifications are regarding the
chances of getting my Windows version (the one I willl need ASAP)
running on a Mac (Not under Bootcamp or similar but in the Mac OS
proper) and or
some kind of upgrade path to the Universal version (if there is such a
thing)

Is this tied into Eclipse itself? I had assumed that a plugin for
Eclipse worked on whatever platform you wanted.

I had imagined (vainly) that maybe I could drop my Flex Builder 2 into
a Mac version of Eclipse and voila !
Isn't this what the dream of Java was/is.

Surley the makers of software being released in mid 2006 have some kind
of plan for this

Anyone?

Regards

Wayne McFetridge

All the datatip stuff has stopped working on my charts too - the tips

Can't find any changes listed on the Flex Wiki, but it doesn't help that
the search doesn't work:

Search for changes and it returns 0 pages, even though that page

I'm guessing it's dataChanged() now, since there were only 3 protected

[flexcoders] Flex documentation innaccurate and broken :-(

2006-06-28 Thread Daniel Tuppeny

The new flex docs
haven't all been updated, and the samples no longer work. I'm having problems
with getting DataTips working in the RTM version, but not having much
joy.

See docs
here:

http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flex/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Partsfile=1271.html

Code doesn't compile
due to "name" attribute now being "displayName", and with that correction,
datatips don't work - they appear as small boxes in the top-left hand corner
with no data.

Anyone know how to
get these working, and/or when the docs might be fixed?

Thanks,

Danny

[flexcoders] Re: Custom Validator woes....

2006-06-28 Thread Suzy Lawson
Jason,
 Thanks. I guess I just got mixed up since it's a little unnatural to
instantiate a class to call a method that should be static! Also,
adding text to the errorString field automatically sets everything
redhere's my method should anyone search upon this message at a
future date:

private function validateField() : void {
var emails : Array = toField.text.split(,);
for(var j:uint=0; j  emails.length; j++)
{
   var emailVal : EmailValidator = new EmailValidator();
   var valResult : ValidationResultEvent =
emailVal.validate(emails[j]);
   if(valResult.type == ValidationResultEvent.INVALID)
   {
  toField.errorString=' + emails[j] + ' is not a valid
e-mail address.;
  return;
   }
}
}

 The listener, source and trigger are all optional properties
 of Validators. You can just call the validate() function. Pass in the

 validate() function is on the base class, Validator.

 I'm building an e-mail client where the To: field can have a comma
 delimited array of e-mail addresses: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 mailto:bob%40yahoo.com , [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:sarah%40yahoo.com

 I have the validation occuring in the focusOut event, where I split
 the To: field so I get an Array of e-mail addresses.
 var emails : Array = value.split(,);

 I then want to loop through and validate each value. However, there is
 no easy way to do this using the Flex SDK EmailValidator.as.

 Ideally, I would think I could call a static method which would return
 me a ValidationResultEvent, which I could then add to my component.
 However, everything with the SDK EmailValidator class requires a
 listener/source/trigger to be bound to it and no matter what I try to
 doit looks at that To: field as one big String...I can't give it
 just the iterated split value.

 Any ideas on this?? Is there a way to statically call a method without
 having to pass in a reference to the EmailValidator object?

Re: [flexcoders] Large scale app, how to proceed?

2006-06-28 Thread judah
Hi Dude,

I'll do my best to answer a few of your questions.

mthielman11 wrote:
 Hello everyone. I have beeen following flex for quite sometime during the
 beta process. I
 am currently beginning work on a large scale web based application. We are
 basically
 migrating several different apps, some web based, some java based, to a new
 platform.
 We have spent the last couple of months exploring a JSP based solution
 running on Resin
 and connecting to a java based API with MySQL on the back end. I am now
 considering
 flex.

 The app is a medical management based app that will consist of several
 different modules
 which all provide different, though related funcitonality. Things like
 browsing a medical
 claim, enter a medical bill.

 I have a couple questions.

 1. IS flex well suited for large, multi module apps? Can it provide any
 real advantage or
 JSP?

Yes. Flex was built to scale to the conditions you describe. It also
uses a new ActionScript Virtual Machine AVM1 in Flash Player 9 that is
extremely fast.
 2. Is the application just one big MXML file with many states or lots of
 little MXML files?
 Or a combination of some kind, such as each module is an MXML with different
 states?

Depends what is being built. What I have seen that works, is that you
have one main application mxml page and numerous other mxml components
or mxml files. There is documentation being written now exactly on how
to go about this. There is also a thing called Cairngorm that has a sort
of setup already created for large scale enterprise level apps that you
can use to get right to it so to speak.
 3. IS FDS the best way to interact with a java API or are there other ways?

 4. HOw do I run the app? Can it run on resin? I see it can be deployed as a
 WAR file but
 have yet to figure out how to do that.

You publish to a SWF file and upload that a server. The SWF is embedded
in an HTML file. The SWF file makes calls to to myriad of services on
the server similar to how a form is submitted in html. Flex also uses
addtional protocol called ActionScript Message Format or AMF if you
will. AMF allows for highly compressed and extremely fast communication.

A lot of additional resources are coming out as soon as next week. I'm
talking about books here. There are already new articles daily online. I
am confident that Flex will be the best tool for the job.

Judah

[flexcoders] switching from beta 3 to the real thing?

2006-06-28 Thread Sonja Duijvesteijn

Hi all,I've been working on a fairly large application for the last months. This project is the final thing i need to do before graduation, so it's very important everything works. The deadline is next week tuesday (6 days away) and I would love to hand in a version that is final, in stead one working from the beta. But, as always with projects I have quite a list of last minute fixes that need to be done and I have no idea how much time it will take switching from beta 3 to the real deal.
So the question is, how much time does it take to switch over? Are there parts of code that changed drastically, are there any area's I could expect problems? If things don't work next week it means I'll fail, won't graduate and have to do my internship all over, costing 5 months. So, I'm hesitant to jump on the boat. But man, flex 2 is tempting!
Kind regards,Sonja Duijvesteijn

[flexcoders] Flash player is not a debugger?

2006-06-28 Thread Daniel Tuppeny

I upgraded my flash
player to v9 this morning. Then later, I installed FlexBuilder (assuming it

Now, when I run in
debug mode, I get a message saying the current version of my flash player is not
a debugger. Can I fix this? I can't see my Trace statements or hit breakpoints

2006-06-28 Thread Torey Maerz
What is the best way to add a column in a datagrid that is a sum of
other columns in the datagrid? For example add column C which is a sum

Thanks!

[flexcoders] Switching workspace

2006-06-28 Thread Daniel Tuppeny

If I copy my
workspace folder to a colleagues machine, and switch his workspace to that
folder, no projects show up in FB. If, however, we create a project with the
same name, then just delete all the files and overwrite them with mine, it works
fine.

Is there a reference
to the projects somewhere that I need to copy over so we don't have to create
new projects to overwrite, on every developers machine?

Thanks,

Danny

[flexcoders] Camera Vs Scanner in Flex

2006-06-28 Thread tinywhistles
Hi

Like Camera.GetCamera() to read images from a locally-attached camera,
is there a similar way to read images from a Scanner?

Any clues?

RE: [flexcoders] Flash player is not a debugger?

2006-06-28 Thread Daniel Tuppeny

I'm still having issues too.

I tried uninstalling the v9 player and installing the debug
version from FlexBuilder\players\debug. Then it wouldn't run at all (said I had
no v9). So I uninstalled the lot, and renamed all the ocx files in
%windir%\system32\marcomed\Flash and then reinstalled both (normal player first,
from adobe site, then debug player), and I still can't run in debug
mode.

Can
anyone on the RTM version confirmwhether they can run in debug mode? Would
be nice to know it's our setup, and not a global issue.

In the Flex 2 final,
how do you implement the ServiceLocator and Delegates?

In ServiceLocator,
it looks like result="event.call.resultHandler(event)"must be replaced by
result="event.token.resultHandler(event)".
But how do you
implement the delegate?

I suppose that we'll
see that in the finalcom.adobe.cairngorm.samples.login sample, but I'm
currently blocked by this issue... ;)
Or am I missing
something?

Thanks Chas, but I am trying to get the names of the
attributes. I am getting dynamic data out of a database in XML form and I
need to know the attribute names from the XML. I just want the attribute
names at the parent level. In the sample I have written I would get
id and task.

Thanks for your help, I will definitely look at the resource you
mentioned.

Suppose x:XML is the XML you show above. The myChild tags are
already accessible as if they were an array; for example, you can
say

trace(x.myChild[0].toXMLString());

which will output

mychild id=1.1 task=do this tools=hammer/

Also, to access an attribute, you can use any of the following:

trace(x.myChild[0].attribute(id));
trace(x.myChild[[EMAIL PROTECTED]id]);
trace(x.myChild[[EMAIL PROTECTED]);

all of which will output the string 1.1.

To use the XML as an array (sort of), you can use code such as:

for (i=0; ix.myChild.length(); i++) {
trace(i+ id +x.myChild[[EMAIL PROTECTED]);
}

x.myChild.length() returns the number of elements which are tags of
the type myChild (note the parens; it's .length(), not
.length).

All this and more (e.g., the ability to only refer to myChild tags
which have the attribute tool==hammer) can be found in the
help docs

[flexcoders] Re: Saving DataGrid Items in to Database.

2006-06-28 Thread welcome_sreedhar
So far, we are able to save all the selected items in the DataGrid
to the database. The problem is that we want to save all the items,
whether they are selected or not. Basically, it is a shopping cart,
so when the user hits purchase, all the items in the cart are to be

[flexcoders] Re: F2B3: Array within a complex object from a WebService result

2006-06-28 Thread ilia_papas
My spacing got hosed--it should look like this:

What it should be:
_
PersonObj:
Name: Bob
Gender: M
AddressArray:
--Address[0]:
---Addr1: 25 Main St
---Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
---Active: true
--Address[1]:
---Addr1: 725 Evergreen Ter
---Addr2: Springfield, ?? 02555
---Active: false
--Address[2]:
---Addr1: 123 Church St
---Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
---Active: true
__

What Flex parses:

__

 PersonObj:
--Name: Bob
--Gender: M
--AddressArray:
--Address[0]: 25 Main St
--Address[1]: Anytown, MA 02555
--Address[2]: true
--Address[3]:
---Addr1: 725 Evergreen Ter
---Addr2: Springfield, ?? 02555
---Active: false
--Address[4]:
---Addr1: 123 Church St
---Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
---Active: true
__

--- In flexcoders@yahoogroups.com, ilia_papas [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 Has anyone been able to successfully parse an array of complex objects
 within a complex object returned from a web service?

 Basically, I have a collection of items, and I'd like to include some
 information about the items in a complex object, which also contains
 the collection.  ie:
 ---
 PersonObj:
-Name: Bob
-Gender: M
-AddressArray:
   -Address[0]:
   -Addr1: 25 Main St
   -Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
   -Active: true
   -Address[1]:
   -Addr1: 725 Evergreen Ter
   -Addr2: Springfield, ?? 02555
   -Active: false
   -Address[2]:
   -Addr1: 123 Church St
   -Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
   -Active: true

 Using an EJB3 web service via JBoss 4.0.4, the object is generated
 correctly, but when it gets to flex, the array is disfigured,
 exploding the first object, like so:

 PersonObj:
-Name: Bob
-Gender: M
-AddressArray:
   -Address[0]: 25 Main St
   -Address[1]: Anytown, MA 02555
   -Address[2]: true
   -Address[3]:
   -Addr1: 725 Evergreen Ter
   -Addr2: Springfield, ?? 02555
   -Active: false
   -Address[4]:
   -Addr1: 123 Church St
   -Addr2: Anytown, MA 02555
   -Active: true

 I know it's a weird problem, but has anyone else been successful in
 attempting this?

 Thanks,
 Ilia

You can
change the height like this:

 height = 34: } override public function set data(value:Object):void

RE: [flexcoders] Re: Flash player is not a debugger?

There's a version of the player here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash

Which I couldn't delete, so I renamed it. After several reboots, I still
can't delete it (but can rename it). It seems something is
loading/locking it even after reboots - wonder if this might have
something to do with it. Why doesn't windows have a force delete? Grrr.!

  [flexcoders] Flash player is not a debugger?

  I upgraded my
  flash player to v9 this morning. Then later, I installed FlexBuilder (assuming
  it would replace the player, if needed).

  Now, when I run in
  debug mode, I get a message saying the current version of my flash player is
  not a debugger. Can I fix this? I can't see my Trace statements or hit
  breakpoints as things are :-(
