I'm using the premade packages from http://www.gtk.org/download/win32.php . The current gettext package on this site is 0.18.1.1
(http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/dependencies/gettext-runtime_0.18.1.1-2_win32.zip) and it also contains a build
script which has a patch in it (src/tml/packaging/gettext_0.18.1.1-2_win32.sh).

This was repeated several hundred times (I didn't care to count) until:

0' failed.
[21:22:32] Please report this message at http://gna.org/projects/freeciv/
Upon which it seemed the server froze, stuck in (probably) the relevant
player's movement phase.

I'm playing a custom ruleset with gold_upkeep_style = 2 and all upkeep is in
gold (using shield2gold for most, although some are fixed at 1 gold).

The server process did not die when I closed the client and is still using up
99% of one of my CPU cores as I write this...

 I've solved those build problems since and crosser development
version has 0.18.1.1 in it. I posted required patch and special build
instructions to gettext mailing list. I don't have plans to start
using newer crosser development snapshot (with gettext 0.18.1.1) for
my freeciv builds, but I'm probably going to release stable crosser
version soon.

 I'm using the premade packages from http://www.gtk.org/download/win32.php
 . The current gettext package on this site is 0.18.1.1
 (http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/dependencies/gettext-runtime_0.18.1.1-2_win32.zip)
 and it also contains a build script which has a patch in it
 (src/tml/packaging/gettext_0.18.1.1-2_win32.sh).

 Christian

 PS: the gettext version used to build the 2.3.0-RC1 Windows package was
 still 0.17-1.

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18439 (project freeciv):

The attached file might have prevented a repeat - then again, I had not seen
anything like that before either, despite the AI refusing to raise taxes even
when it has to sell units every turn.

2011-08-01 Thread Micke

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18439 (project freeciv):

And the very next turn I got this:
[22:41:47] in player_balance_treasury_units_and_buildings()
[cityturn.c::1879]: assertion 'FALSE' failed.
[22:41:47] Player Katuri (nb 6) cannot have negative gold!
[22:41:47] Please report this message at http://gna.org/projects/freeciv/
[22:41:47] in update_city_activities() [cityturn.c::543]: assertion
'pplayer-economic.gold = 0' failed.
[22:41:47] Please report this message at http://gna.org/projects/freeciv/

The AI in question has -7 gold now and runs a deficit of 21 gold with taxes
set to 10%, so I'm using the editor to force all AI players to sell enough
buildings to keep it balanced now.

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #2715] Use cairo in gtk3-client

2011-08-01 Thread Marko Lindqvist

Follow-up Comment #3, patch #2715 (project freeciv):

- Converting sprites/canvases to pixbufs should work on big endian machines
too
- Sprite mask handling
- Use cairo (indirectly through sprites and canvases) also in gtkpixcomm
operation OP_FILL
- Removed some dead code
- Function header for create_unit_pixcomm()
- Use canvas functionality instead of (duplicate) direct cairo implementation
of gtkpixcomm operation OP_COPY
- Unified sprite_scale() with citydialog scaling code (probably fixing bugs
in the process, other bugs make testing futile)

Buglist:
- Unit sprites not shown at help dialog
- GtkPixcomm backgrounds often corrupted
- Overview map does not work
- chatline.c has some drawing code that is not using cairo
- Wrong terrain pieces drawn to main map (mask handling problem?)
- Animated cursors a mess

___

Details:

Noticed with cazfi's trunk build (r20045) on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit:
on starting the server, I get:

1: IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP (225.1.1.1) failed: An unknown, invalid, or unsupported
option or level was specified in a getsockopt or setsockopt call.

Also visible briefly in the client when it spawns a server.

I think I've seen this previously with other versions, probably S2_3 builds.
Haven't checked yet if it's just cazfi's builds or cproc's as well.

I'm guessing this is something to do with the LAN scan. When I started a
server and a separate client, the server didn't show up on the scan.
