I'm playing a custom ruleset with gold_upkeep_style = 2 and all upkeep is in gold (using shield2gold for most, although some are fixed at 1 gold). I posted required patch and special build instructions to gettext mailing list. I don't have plans to start using newer crosser development snapshot (with gettext 0.18.1.1) for my freeciv builds, but I'm probably going to release stable crosser version soon. Also visible briefly in the client when it spawns a server. I think I've seen this previously with other versions, probably S2_3 builds. Haven't checked yet if it's just cazfi's builds or cproc's as well. I'm guessing this is something to do with the LAN scan.
