  Hi Kelly,
No there are no sample games that ship with AGM, but the tootorials
gives you some simple games to build, and walks you step by step

 Hello,

I found the solution to the volume of the sounds being too low in the
 audio
game maker program. There's a folder in the audio game maker folder called
AGM sounds or agm sounds. I think if someone goes through and raises the
volume of each mp3 to a higher volume and saves the mp3s in the same
 format
they were saved in to begin with the volume of the overall program will
 then
be louder I think. maybe richard can do this, and post a new link with
louder volumes in the agm sounds and give us an updated download link? or
maybe if someone else can do this.

Re: [Audyssey] can't get the library sounds to work

2007-08-04 Thread Bryan Peterson
Hi Tim,
The most likely reason for this is that most of those file names have
punctuation marks in them, brackets and underscores and things, when the
engine only recognizes letters and numbes. What I did to solve this problem
was to copy and paste all the sounds I wanted in my game in the correcct
folder, then rename them without the extranious symbols. Then the next time
I booted up AGM it recognized the sounds just fine. You can do that very
easily via Windows Explorer.

 Hi
Charles made a suggestion on the u s a games list that when a player
causes the character to bang into a wall more than 3 times the character
should loose health. I totally totally disagree with that. Up to now there
is games where the player can bang into walls unlimited times and get
 no
damage. What about shades of doom, there the character doesn't loose any
health when banging into a wall, the same with sarah.
Its ridiculous wanting to cause the character to lose health if he bangs
into a wall more than 3 times if there already exist games who doesn't
cause the character to loose health when banging into walls. It's a real
 ridiculous suggestion Charles made.
Lets compare walls in games with walls in real life. If I'm walking as a
blind person in an unfamiliar environment and I encounter a wall, I will
 not
get any hurt if I bump my body against the wall, if I bump my head against
the wall yes then I will suffer damage but not if I just try to walk
 ahead
if the wall is in my way. I will not suffer that much damage. The same
 with
walls in games, its totally ridiculous for a game character TO LOOSE
 HEALTH
WHILE BUMPING INTO A WALL MORE THAN 3 TIMES.

This is for everyone, if anyone is looking for a good free web service to
host a web site on, then check out:
 www.mixiroo.com
That's the service my web site is on. And the word verafication is in
Flash, so you can just press the spaceBar on the button, and a nice
famuliar voice will tell every single letter or number.
As for a good place for uploading large gaming files, try this link:
 http://www.110mb.com/forum/index.php/topic,1428.0.html

Part of the 110 MB online forums, which is accessible to sign up with as
well, you will find a huge list of services for storing files, and of
 course
you can link to them from your web sites! By the way, might as well
 mention
it here, for people using free domains, such as the Smart Dots ones, to
disable the ads at the type of the page:
 1. After you log-in, look for the main menu or administration link.
 2. Look for the Domain Toolbar You'll notice that it will be in
 German,
however don't worry about what it says.
 3. Go through all of the checkboxes, and uncheck each one.
 4. Locate the combow-box after the
boxes, and change the option to English.
 5. Turn Forms Mode back on, and find thesubmit information
 (mouse-over)
 link, and press enter.
The part about how to remove ads from pages was mostly for Ken, however I
might as well share it with you all, if anyone's going to use Smart Dots
domains, or simular ones like it.
Alright, that's all for now... Just hopefully 4 more hours before AGM
 comes
out! Or at least by this email anyway... Hmm. Could be 7 hours
 acctually...

No I haven't. Domains are expensive, and I kind of don't have the money
 to
just buy a domain. I will try that. I have been thinking about a donation
thing, but wasn't sure anyone would donate! lol. No-ip.com isn't that
 like
$300 or something. I just took a quick look at the site a couple of
 months
ago and saw a plan that was that much, and was like nope that is like
wayayayayay too much. I will check the other ones out, though. As i said
still thinking about setting up a paypal to donate.

stay with subdomains. I am really hoping to get more money for at
games. I am also thihnking
about setting up a paypal for money donations. It would really
helpif people donated, but I am really not sure about doing it. So
we are probably going
to have to do a tiny, crappy, hosting service that'll give us a
subdomain. Such as bravehost, geocitties, and i hope ya all know the
others. I think I
will do bravehost. That will be best, I hope. The team has also
almost got our final decision on the first game, the plot, the
title, etc etc etc.
Just a warning here, 5 more days till the deadline that I set is
reached, after the deadline noone can join the AT Games team. We
will have periods of
time where it will be open applying, but those will be every few months.
And we are creating a side scroler. One of our games will be a
sidescroler, rpg, adventure all combined! Once I finish learning VB
and C++, AT Games will be on a roll releasing games! Woohoo! But we
will be working on bigger projects to, not just releasing a lot
of little cheesy games and software. We will be working on larger
audio games, and accessible software as well.

 Hello,

I found the solution to the volume of the sounds being too low in the
 audio
game maker program. There's a folder in the audio game maker folder
 called
AGM sounds or agm sounds. I think if someone goes through and raises the
volume of each mp3 to a higher volume and saves the mp3s in the same
 format
they were saved in to begin with the volume of the overall program will
 then
be louder I think. maybe richard can do this, and post a new link with
louder volumes in the agm sounds and give us an updated download link? or
maybe if someone else can do this.

I am still having trouble figuring out the turn and move stuff, as the

I have posted a topic on the AGM forum if you want to check it out.
One thing I don't understand is how to have the ammo item reset itself to

You can get the game and all setup files here:

I booted up AGM it recognized the sounds just fine. You can do that very

Re: [Audyssey] monty and vista

2007-08-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Michael,
Keep in mind as I write this that the .Net Framework and DirectX only
needs to be installed once to play all of my games so if they are
installed or have already been upgraded they don't need to be done
again. That said, I'll cut directly to your questions and issues.
First, I'd like you to confirm .Net Framework 2.0 is installed. You can
do this by opening the Windows Vista control panel , clicking on
Programs and Features, and then looking at all the installed programs
and updates. If .Net 2.0 is there then it is already installed.
Second, it is a very very good idea to install the DirectX 9.0C full
install from my web site as it has managed DirectX libraries for .Net
2.0 that my games requires. These libs don't ship with Vista by default.
Important note, .Net 2.0 has to be currently installed for DirectX to
upgrade your Vista system with the .Net 2.0 libs for DirectX.
Hth.

Hi Tim,
Keep in mind as you make your own games with AGM that it will except
file names only with letters and numbers in them. For Example,
StoneStep1.wav is a good file name where Stone-Step1.wav wouldn't work.
The files that ship in the sound lib have all kinds of characters AGM
won't accept unless the file names are changed.

2007-08-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
First, I'd like to point out I have no current plans of reducing health
if you walk into a wall. I for one agree with you that it shouldn't
cause health damage by just merely walking into the wall.
However, Charles's suggestion does make a little more sense in the
context it was given in. Which was if you jump and hit a wall you should
lose health. This makes practical sense since all the walls of the
temple are stone walls, and if someone hit the wall with enough speed
and force it could injure the person possably breaking bones or knocking
them unconscious.
Same goes if the person is running. If you are running flat out and hit
a stone wall you are going to be really hurting by the time you pick
yourself up off the ground. If you didn't hit your head and knock
yourself out that is. (Grin)

happen in real life if you hit that wall with enough speed, and the fact
the walls are stone.

a wall. one suggestion is you should be injured which certainly could
happen in real life if you hit that wall with enough speed, and the fact
 the walls are stone.

Hello Greg and welcome on the list.
As Che said in an earlier post, those who haven't played with sound rts have no
idea what they missed. Simply awesome, and this word explains everything.
Returning from the hungarian sea, and running through the hundreds of posts,
i see that audio game maker is released. If you're up to some game
creation, it's definitely for you. Just a recommendation until you find an
opponent for your next sound rts multiplayer, smiles.
All the best,

 Hi Bryan,
No problem. I sent you a small sound pack to get started with. It is
going out as we speak. I sent you some fly sounds, a few water step
sounds, a couple frog sounds, some swamp ambience to get you started.
Later if this thing becomes a bigger development and needs more of
ambience etc I can add additional files to that sound pack.
Ah, it is now done uploading so it is on your way.
 Cheers.

[Audyssey] ATGames - Immaturity and false accusations!

2007-08-04 Thread X-Sight Interactive
Hi guys.
Ok, let's straighten things out here. Who farted was wrongly accused of being
my message. Bearing in mind that more than one person has access to my site,
including Tristan, let's say that it was wrong of Tristan to accuse me of
putting that message there.
The message in fact was actually my girlfriend's, her idea of a little touch to
the site.
Secondly, talking about immaturity is a doddle for this guy, as an incident
occurred last week which put us into a very heated argument, which involved him
stealing and trying to use php scripts that had been custom written for me, for
his own site, when I had clearly told him not to. It then went from
negotiations to trying to crash my eloquence with the h' words, which may
otherwise be written out fully as Here and Have, along with his best friend
Alex.
I therefore, do not want any false accusations made about me and my people, and
I don't want any more complaints of immature behaviour from people that do
equally immature things.
To the rest of you, I hope that clarifies why I don't feel Tristan is serious
about his company. He is, after all, 11 years old.

Damien C. Sadler

[Audyssey] Rail Racer Tournament update

2007-08-04 Thread Che
We had 19 racers enter the first RR online tournament, and now it is down to
2.
It comes down to Steady and Kelvin, those two veterans of the RR track, and
probably the 2 best overall racers we have, as it should be.
They will be racing best 3 out of 6 on The Glove for the title of Rail Racer
Master and a copy of Rail racer to do with as they please.
Kelvin has an advantage here, as he is undefeated going in, while Steady has
one match loss, amazing job Kelvin.
When you guys set a time to race, please let us know so we can be there to
witness it.
Many thanks to everyone that participated in the tournament, it was a total
blast, and I think the new tournament system held up quite well.

Re: [Audyssey] X-Sight Interactive - Immaturity

2007-08-04 Thread X-Sight Interactive
Let's take this one at a time.
For a start, Tony Sales said I can release it as open source, and I stated
it was Tony's, I did not call it X-Sight's.
Second, Beep does use the same install script as blind man's bluff, what's
the problem with using my own inno setup installation script for another
game?
Third, all Autoit based programs, for some reason, come up as a trogeon.
Dectalk Scripter is no trogeon, as anyone who is clever enough to decompile
autoit scripts and look at the source code will know.
Fourth, the php that I download and use are open source and authorised for
use, otherwise I would not be using them.
Fifth, Tristan, we discussed this offlist, and as much as the rest of the
list doesn't know it, but you actually said you wanted to truly buffet my
reputation out of spite.

regards,

damien

Damien.

Re: [Audyssey] X-Sight Interactive - Immaturity

2007-08-04 Thread X-Sight Interactive
Thanks for the backup.
The reason it's not currently up on X-Sight is because I'm totally rewriting
it in vb. Yes, go ahead and decompile the autoit version if you like, I have
now disassociated anything to do with any previous autoit program I've made,
and am totally rewriting it in vb.

Hi, Tristan, what the... I actually thought who farted? was quite
funny; and I know Damien is a good person and does not trojanize his
stuff, I thought of decompiling dectalk scripter but thought against
it because Damien would skin me alive if I tried. So I didn't, unless
it's ok with Damien? If it is I will go and do it now. Speaking of
scripter, why isnt it up on x-sight interactive anymore; put it up
please again, I have to download it for a different comp and lost the
installer. I dont know why autoit scripts come up as infected pieces
of malware; Damien would not do that, I know it; his stuff is too good
to be trojanized. I think, personally, that x-sight is a col name for
a company, QAG is also good.

 Hi guys.
Ok, let's straighten things out here. Who farted was wrongly accused of
being my message. Bearing in mind that more than one person has access to
my site, including Tristan, let's say that it was wrong of Tristan to
accuse me of putting that message there.
The message in fact was actually my girlfriend's, her idea of a little
 touch to the site.
Secondly, talking about immaturity is a doddle for this guy, as an
incident occurred last week which put us into a very heated argument,
which involved him stealing and trying to use php scripts that had been
custom written for me, for his own site, when I had clearly told him not
to. It then went from negotiations to trying to crash my eloquence with
the h' words, which may otherwise be written out fully as Here and
Have, along with his best friend Alex.
I therefore, do not want any false accusations made about me and my
people, and I don't want any more complaints of immature behaviour from
people that do equally immature things.
To the rest of you, I hope that clarifies why I don't feel Tristan is
serious about his company. He is, after all, 11 years old.

Dectalk Scripter is no trogeon, as anyone who is clever enough to
 decompile
autoit scripts and look at the source code will know.
Fourth, the php that I download and use are open source and authorised for
use, otherwise I would not be using them.
Fifth, Tristan, we discussed this offlist, and as much as the rest of the
list doesn't know it, but you actually said you wanted to truly buffet my
 reputation out of spite.

[Audyssey] off topic but urgent

2007-08-04 Thread Bryan Peterson
Hi all,
Does anybody know if it's possible to open file attachments that have been
blocked? Thomas sent me a zip of some SFX for my fFrogs and Flies game but
Windows XP won't let me open them. I get this security warning about how
windows blocks certain files that could be harmful to the computer. It doesn't
even tell me if there's a way to open it. This zip has some rather important
files for my game, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Well, there is no way I know of to change all the names of the files at

that you need for your project at the time. So that makes it much more
manageable.

Hi Bryan,
Well, I've got almost a hundred footstep sounds so coming up with the
water step sounds was easy on my part. If AGM really takes off I might
be able to sell sound packs of sounds I've created, edited, and or
baught licenses for.
Most of the footstep sounds I have are better quality than the ones that
is in the AGM lib which helps.

Re: [Audyssey] off topic but urgent

2007-08-04 Thread Jeremy Hartley
Hello.

It has been a long time since I have done this, but here are the steps I
believe you need to take. What I did before was to save the attachment
first. I used outlook express, so I opened the message that contains the
attachment and selected save attachments from the file menu. I am not sure
what e-mail client you are using. Anyway, if you get the attachment saved
to disc, you can navigate to it in windows explorer. Then right click or
press the applications key while on the file. Go to properties. You may
need to use your screen reader's cursoring keys to find the unblock button.
Again, I know it was in the properties, but you may need to go through the
various tabbs in properties before you find it. I wish I had a blocked file
to test this on, but hopefully this will get you pointed in the right
direction.

 Hi all,
Does anybody know if it's possible to open file attachments that have
been blocked? Thomas sent me a zip of some SFX for my fFrogs and Flies
game but Windows XP won't let me open them. I get this security warning
about how windows blocks certain files that could be harmful to the
computer. It doesn't even tell me if there's a way to open it. This zip
has some rather important files for my game, so any help would be
 appreciated.

funny; and I know Damien is a good person and does not trojanize his

it because Damien would skin me alive if I tried.

There's a setting in the options, in the tools menu of outlook express that
either allows or does not allow the opening of attachments, but I'm not sure
if that's what you're looking for. I'm not sure why you couldn't unzip a

[Audyssey] AGM world border

2007-08-04 Thread Josh
Hi,
How do you create the border for a world? I tried out Kenn's durby game but
I couldn't get very far with it. I could move and stuff but maybe I was
having trouble because the borders were too close together and the world
wasn't big enough? How do you set borders and increase and decrease their
size? Also I think some game effects such as sound frequency changes and
things are badly needed in the next version of the AGM. If I want to make a
jet raceing game I need to do the following.
First of all I want the sound of the plane taking off to loop. I also want
it to have the sound of taking off so the frequency of the looped sound
would have to be raised over a certain amount of time. Next, I think the
calculator should be less restricting and have more options. It would be so
cool if you could look up physics formulas in a book somewhere and drop them
into your AGM game using a calculator building block to control it.
Currently the only way to do this is lets say you have a falling object.
You'd have to estimate the weight of the object then tell the caluclator
based on the weight of the object and the current height at which it's
falling based on gravity how long to let it fall using a calculator probably
linked to a timer and another calculator to subtract altitude.

 Hi Nicol,
First, I'd like to point out I have no current plans of reducing health
if you walk into a wall.
(Grin)

As Che said in an earlier post, those who haven't played with sound rts

Returning from the hungarian sea, and running through the hundreds of

opponent for your next sound rts multiplayer, smiles.

 Hi guys.
Ok, let's straighten things out here. Who farted was wrongly accused of
being my message. Bearing in mind that more than one person has access
 to
my site, including Tristan, let's say that it was wrong of Tristan to
accuse me of putting that message there.
I therefore, do not want any false accusations made about me and my
people, and I don't want any more complaints of immature behaviour
 from
people that do equally immature things.
To the rest of you, I hope that clarifies why I don't feel Tristan is
serious about his company. He is, after all, 11 years old.

Subject: [Audyssey] off topic but urgent

 Hi all,
Does anybody know if it's possible to open file attachments that have
been blocked? Thomas sent me a zip of some SFX for my fFrogs and Flies
game but Windows XP won't let me open them. I get this security warning
about how windows blocks certain files that could be harmful to the
computer. It doesn't even tell me if there's a way to open it. This zip
has some rather important files for my game, so any help would be
 appreciated.

Re: [Audyssey] ATGames - Immaturity and false accusations!

2007-08-04 Thread Josh
yeah and if they want to fight they could make audio games where one player
is damien and the other is tristen and they could trade their games and
fight each other in the games and have a score and see who wins in a private
competition off list.

  Hi guys,
Apparently Raul and Thomas are away from their computers today, or I'm
sure they would ask you to take this off list.
Please be a little more considerate of what you are posting to this list,
nobody cares about your personal tiff here, if you guys want to fight, do
 it
on your own time and quit wasting ours please.
  Thanks,
  Che

Re: [Audyssey] reaction sounds

2007-08-04 Thread Bryan Peterson
In answer to your first question, yes that does refer to walking. As for the
second choice I don't know. Haven't really experimented with it.

 Hi,

What happens if you assign reaction sounds to x plus, x minus, y plus, and
 y
minus? Is that for walking? Also does the accelleration sound make the
 frequency of the sound change?

OK, this is enough folks. Please either stop writing on this, or take it
off list.

Subject: [Audyssey] ATGames - Immaturity and false accusations!

 Regards,

 Damien C. Sadler

Re: [Audyssey] AGM world border

Subject: [Audyssey] AGM world border

 Hi,
How do you create the border for a world? I tried out Kenn's durby game
 but
I couldn't get very far with it. I could move and stuff but maybe I was
having trouble because the borders were too close together and the world
wasn't big enough? How do you set borders and increase and decrease their
size? Also I think some game effects such as sound frequency changes and
things are badly needed in the next version of the AGM. If I want to make
 a
jet raceing game I need to do the following.
First of all I want the sound of the plane taking off to loop. I also want
it to have the sound of taking off so the frequency of the looped sound
would have to be raised over a certain amount of time. Next, I think the
calculator should be less restricting and have more options. It would be
 so
cool if you could look up physics formulas in a book somewhere and drop
 them
into your AGM game using a calculator building block to control it.
Currently the only way to do this is lets say you have a falling object.
You'd have to estimate the weight of the object then tell the caluclator
based on the weight of the object and the current height at which it's
falling based on gravity how long to let it fall using a calculator
 probably
linked to a timer and another calculator to subtract altitude.
