Yeah, but I went on the demo page where you could type in what you want
 and
hear the results. Their demo says, Just imagine it! with an exclamation
point, and, sure enough, if you type it that way it sounds like a really
excited person. If, however, you type Imagine that! it is said with
typical intonation. I tried a few other phrases and the same thing holds
true, so I think that only key phrases can be made to be expressed that
 way.
It can laugh, cry, cough, yawn and sneeze though--but it'd be cheaper and
sound better to get someone to do an actual voice over.

Unlike most other voices, the Loquendo voices can actually sound like
 they
mean what they say. I heard one of them laugh (yes folks, actually
 laugh).
It can express emotions far better than any other I've heard. This
 morning
 I
heard a demo of two of the voices talking to one another. Let's just say
 the
emotions expressed sounded far more natural than any other supposedly
 natural voice.

[Audyssey] default game voices

2007-12-17 Thread ari
Hi,
That tip Tom gave me about making a voice the windows default voice, how do
I make it detect or redetect voices? What I mean is, with JAWS I've got
eloquence voices, and I've also got some L and H voices, but they don't show
up in the voice lists, is there a way to make an Eloquence voice a default
Windows voice? Also, does anyone know, you can email offlist if not
interesting to other people, but from where can I get more free voices, like
those Festival ones, can they be used in windows? There are many
synthesizers, like Mary, but are they Sappi 5 compatible or can they be
used?

2007-12-17 Thread Michael Feir
There's also an addon for it. I've just purchased the game and the addon
yesterday. It's exactly the kind of game I've been after for years. I had to
get the addon from a separate place and can't remember where that was but
it's certainly a blast to play despite having to disable the music and run
in protected mode. The sounds are still neat.

I have my christmas stuff so I will not buy this yet but if its that good
I may buy it for my friend's birthday then we can share the thing which
 will rock.
 At 09:27 p.m. 16/12/2007, you wrote:

Hiya,
This is one of those games you stumble onto
completely by accident. At least, I do--I'm not sure if others do the
same or
not. Anyway, it's quite accessible and has the potential for hours of
fun, so
I'll explain:
The game is set in a science fiction universe.
You play a ship captain, for one of four different factions in the game
who are
in more or less constant war with each other. Your objective is quite
simple:
to rise in the ranks, however you can. You can do this by trading goods
back
and forth, by going on missions for your faction, by becoming a pirate,
and a
lot of other things besides.
The thing I like most about this game so far is
that the story is not scripted. It's influenced a lot by what you do in
the
game. Also, there's the potential for a lot of replay value: you'll
probably
not have the same game twice.
To anyone who is familiar with the game Trade
Wars, for old BBS systems, this is similar in some ways. The trick of it
is that
it's single player, and something you have to buy, though there is a free
trial
available.
In terms of accessibility, the game has a lot
of controls which I found I need to navigate with the Window-Eyes mouse
cursor.
I think Jaws should be able to do similar things with its cursor. There
are no
realtime elements to speak of. The combat, traveling, etc. is all
turn-based.
The one obsticle which might get in the way of
enjoying this game is the music. You can turn it off in the options
menu,
but
it's quite loud initially so hearing the options menu in the first place
could
be tough. However, it's not impossible. The sound effects in the game
will
tell you enough anyway.
I think that I'm sufficiently impressed with
this game to buy it.
You can download the trial at:
http://www.download-free-games.com/war_game_download/smugglers3.htm
The trial lasts for an hour of gameplay, which
is enough to get the general feel of things, even if it will cut off in
the
middle. This is an hour only, and once it's up, it's up.
Enjoy, and do let me know what you think or if you
have questions.
All the best,
Zack.

[Audyssey] Monty warping

2007-12-17 Thread Raul a. Gallegos
I disagree with making it possible to warp back. Keeping it the way it
is keeps re playability because you will learn to get all your stuff as
you come across it. if you miss out on a key, too bad. That is just my
opinion. As it is, I already feel Tom has made too many ways of adding
too much ease to the game. if you want to know what I'm talking about,
press the M key.

Damien Sadler said the following on 12/12/2007 9:06 AM:
while we're on the topic, another suggestion would be if the warp; platform
lead you to another warp platform than just a space. that way if you need to
get back for anything you can.
for example, i must've missed a key on level 4 a few minutes ago, because it
wouldn't let me into the room. i'd just come off the warp platform. but
there was no way back to see if i could find the key.

 damien

You can kill the disturbance in version 1.2 of Shades of Doom, but it

wait and go a few feet away, not to get wounded/killed from the mine,

[Audyssey] size of messages

2007-12-17 Thread Raul a. Gallegos
Just a gripe for this morning. There were six moderator requests to
handle and 4 of them were messages which were too large. Typically if a
message is held for size, I may let it pass especially if it is a long
post or an announcement of some type, but these messages were 1 to 3
line messages with the entire message thread after and that is what
caused the message length. What it comes down to is a toss up between
laziness or forgetfulness.

OK, end of rant.

Re: [Audyssey] Tenpin Alley and Prize Wheel Suggestion

2007-12-17 Thread Raul a. Gallegos
Hi. I am successfully now running Draconis Entertainment games under
Vista and the cool thing is I don't have to run them as an admin.
Basically I had to install them into my own user directory, but that was
not too bad. In the folder path c:\users\Raul I created a new folder
called Local Programs and In installed them into that. As long as I have
the DirectX8 dll files, things work nicely and game play is nice. I
submitted a score on PBX pinball table yesterday but I did not check the
score server to see if I made it on the list.

Draconis Entertainment said the following on 12/14/2007 3:14 PM:
 Hello,

We're working on getting all of our titles Vista compatible, which we
hope to ahve completed soon. At this point, there are no guarantees

 Hey Phil

I still have that runtime error for the game.

It's very strange I even get it on my new Vista computer .
 Any quick ideas.

Also I like to see a similar program like GM Dice.
 A Prize Wheel.
This would be a simpler version of the GM Dice.
Al the wheel would have a set number say 24 or 30. A set of F keys
 could do
 the spin.
I have set up GM Dice to be something like I want.
I swap out a few audio files with a Click, Click Click sound and
 then set
the voice say the number it lands on.
The replacements was for the 1 die and I may have to go to the
 double dice
 sound.
Many times when spinning I get a dice sound effect.

If you want to hear Crash's Christmas Wheel
I will be using my GM Dice with my changes today at
2:30pm ET on FTP. Sat at 8:30 Sunday and Monday at again 2:30pm.

 Look for me in the
Crash's Surprise Theater room where I will be dong
 Christmas classic stories.
The Wheel now is up to $50.

How it works is during breaks each room participate will get a
 chance at the
 spin on the wheel.
Right now during the Christmas time the wheel is set up to 30.
While no one is talking one one of my computer I spin the wheel and
 if I
hear a dice roll I keep doing it until I hear my spinning Wheel then
 press
the Control key to broad cast the sound and the outcome.
That's why if you or anybody can create a easy Spinning wheel may
 even with
exchangeable voices since the wheel highest number will not going to
 be
 really a big number.
Or even let it be a part of GM Dice where one of the F keys can just

Now if one wants to bring it even further for a Prize Wheel.
Instead of numbers actually prizes could be put on the wheel.

A program with both options of numbers and prizes would be really

The sound effect of the wheel can also have different sounds.

 Hi Ari,
Since I worked on the TenPin bowling game I can answer your
 questions.
I would have taken a lot longer to come up with computer opponents
 and the
main feature of bowling is to try to get a better score, so you are
 really
playing against all your past scores.
That is in the registered version.
It records your results and you can follow your average as it gets
 higher
 as
you get better with the game.
In the easiest setting the game is very easy to get strikes and a
 perfect
300 score, but when you get to harder difficulty levels it is almost
impossible to get a perfect score.
We put the easiest setting in for small children and people just
 learning
 the game.
We had hoped to give the game an on-line play against others
 capability,
 but
Draconis has been tied up with other projects and has put off
 working on
 doing that.

I disagree with making it possible to warp back. Keeping it the way it

Hi Bryan,
Not necessarily true. Loquendo is very anal about their product, and I
know when talking to them about licensing them they wanted a signed NDA
agreement before they would release any details on the product beyond
anything that is public knolege.
I suspect if Phil did obtain them legally he is under NDA license

I doubt he will announce that publically. So let's assume he is honest

Hi Josh,
Not in your life. The Loquendo voices have never sold that cheap, and I
doubt they ever will. The company that owns those voices is very very
very anal about their product. They sell ownly to clients with fat wallets.
As for Jaws I am not surprised. Freedom Scientific has a narrow view of
clients wishes. I remember phoning in a complaint about Dectalk Access
Software and Jawaand the basically blew me off. They said it wasn't
under the tech support any more since they dropped it x versions back,
and I should use Eloquence instead. Never mind I think Dectalk sounds
better than Eloquence they had this attitude if you aren't using what
everyone else is using then you aren't important.
As a result I have no problems seeing how loquendo could have issues
with Jaws, and FS totally ignores fixing those bugs until they are good
and ready. To them what Jaws ships with is all you need to use.
Well, I best quit before I get on a big soap box and start a screen
reader flame war. Grin

Hi Folks,
With Christmas heading towards us fast like a steam engine, here is a

Yes, the biggest, nastiest, and most recent patchment
of Phil Vlasak's fantastic Sarah game fulfills all
appropriate prophecies by apparating straight onto your
harddrives.

As you might expect, Phil has cursed the bug population
of this amazing harry potter 3D exploration and
adventure game into oblivion, but also he gives us more
new features that you can wave a death stick at.

The layout of the castle has been magically pushed into
line, so that it as closely as possible resembles that
given out by Jk herself, particularly in the matter of
the hufflepuff and Ravenclaw common rooms. We also have
new creatures, new magic items, new spells, the chance
to borrow Syrius black's favorite form of
transportation, and even some new game features as
well. Now, pressing O will activate Sarah's object
detector which will tell you the distance and position
of the various magical artifacts you come across. Also,
objects no longer constantly speak out their names, but
now give out noises instead.

then, Sarah has obviously been paying attention in her
potions classes, since she's now got a potions kit,
which you can examine in her inventory with the X key,
to see just how many potions you have.

With all these great new features, it's more reason
than ever to apparate over to Pcs games
http://www.pcsgames.net/sarah.htm
Now, if that's it, I'll be off on my broom.

Hi Cory,
I really have to disagree with you on this. Many companies have
non-disclosure agreements that prevents a buyer or developer from
discussing certain aspects of a product. Anything not in the NDA of
course can be freely talked about. If the product were taken by illegal
means, that information would not belong on list, but discussing the
product itself is fine.
Since we are on this topic I will simply say i have worked out private
agreements with people to trade this or that for something I wanted in
the past. It was totally legal, but neither I or the other parties wish
to make our agreements publically known. Does that make the parties
criminal or unable to talk about the products they traded legally even
though neither of us wish to discuss it publically?

Yeah, I agree. It is really too bad that more accessible game developers

A while back a bunch of accessible game developers got together and

Re: [Audyssey] default game voices

2007-12-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Ari,
on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista you can not make Eloquence your default
voice because it is not Sapi 5.0 compatible. Eloquence still uses the
Sapi 4 standards, and the primary reason it will only work with apps
that support Sapi 4.
In addition some versions of Eloquence, particular the pile of junk,
that ships with Jaws is tied soully to the Jaws authorisation. That
version of Eloquence can not be used with anything but Jaws which really
bites.
As for Festival TTS there is a windows port of it, but it is not Sapi 5
compatible. Every application that uses it has to have it's own voice
driver, or if it is a Java application use the Java Speech API.
As for Microsoft Mary there is a Sapi 4 and a Sapi 5 version you can
get. The full Sapi 5 installation from Microsoft includes all Microsoft
voices except Anna which comes with Vista and Windows Server 2008 only.

ari wrote:

I make it detect or redetect voices? What I mean is, with JAWS I've got

up in the voice lists, is there a way to make an Eloquence voice a default
Windows voice? Also, does anyone know, you can email offlist if not
interesting to other people, but from where can I get more free voices, like
those Festival ones, can they be used in windows? There are many
synthesizers, like Mary, but are they Sappi 5 compatible or can they be

Hey,

Leslie Fish did a song on DD gaming called gammers; it has verses on
DD, larping, and computer gaming. She also did a DD related song
called _smashing the balrog_. Good luck finding either of these,
though. MC Frontalot did one of his famous nerdcore raps on the
infocom games of the 80s. As far as I can remember, it was called
something like _it is pitch dark_. It's track 7 off of his latest
album, _secrets from the future_ anyway. unsigned pop-keyboard group
The Capricorns did a track called _Nintendo Song_, featuring game
sounds and lyrics about death. Again, good luck finding it. That's
all that come to mind off the top of my head.

2007-12-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Raul,
I believe when I wrote that particular review for the Vista
compatibility chart I was running the 6.1 beta releases. Remember I did
purchase Vista in February which was just after 6.1 beta and Vista
appeared on the seen.
I did download the patched Window Eyes API dll which fixed the problem
sometime after that, and never updated the compatibility chart.
I'm glad you have tested this as I can now update that area of the chart
and correct some of my own errors and mistakes in it.

Raul A. Gallegos wrote:
Hello. I'd like to say that Indiana had a lot of snow and so I decided
to play games on my Vista machine. One thing which I'd like to update is
that Lone Wolf and Window-Eyes 6.1 do work in Vista together. In going
through the gamers archives, I read Tom Ward's excellent post on his
experiences with Vista and what games would work on it. I ended up
installing all games to a local programs folder I created in my own
account and the GMA games just work without having to run them as admins
which is a great thing. I just played a couple of Lone Wolf games and it
definitely interfaced with Window-Eyes with no problems.

 All the best.

Hi Raul,
Are you sure you got up on the right side of the bed today? You sound
like you are in a griping mood. A real griping mood. laugh
Guess what? I feel like griping as well. I have already griped about
Jaws which is my favorite screen reader for picking on. Hmmm... I wonder
how many over sized messages I can delete today.
Can I shoot them like an arcade game. Here comes a really big one. A
really really really big message. Voom! Bang! message explodes.
I won! I won! I won! Can I play again? please! Please! Pretty please!

Raul a. Gallegos wrote:
Just a gripe for this morning. There were six moderator requests to
handle and 4 of them were messages which were too large. Typically if a
message is held for size, I may let it pass especially if it is a long
post or an announcement of some type, but these messages were 1 to 3
line messages with the entire message thread after and that is what
caused the message length. What it comes down to is a toss up between
 laziness or forgetfulness.

 OK, end of rant.

They sound a lot better even than the NeoSpeach voices just from the samples
I've heard. I've noticed that the NeoSpeach voices seem to have
pronunciation issues that the Loquendo voices don't seem to have. I mean,
where the heck do you get family from firmly? Seriously, that's how both the
NeoSpeach voices pronounced firmly, at least on my machine. You have no idea

 Hi Bryan,
Based on the level of text to speech output and emotion shown in the
demos I think some of the Loquendo voices would be possible to sing.
Especially, with some tweaking and a music application that controls the
rhythm, pitch, etc of the synth being used.

That does make sense. It's depressing though, that as security conscious as

 Hi Bryan,
Not necessarily true. Loquendo is very anal about their product, and I
know when talking to them about licensing them they wanted a signed NDA
agreement before they would release any details on the product beyond
 anything that is public knolege.
I suspect if Phil did obtain them legally he is under NDA license
agreement not to talk about what he knows. If he got them illegally then
I doubt he will announce that publically. So let's assume he is honest
 and leave it at that.

Hi Raul,
I have to agree with you on this one. I can say I have no immediate
plans of allowing a gamer to warp back to a previous area. This is one
of those challenges that needs to remain for the game to remain even
somewhat challenging. Too many gamers I think just want an easy game
with no challenges.

Re: [Audyssey] Tempral Disturbence Problem

2007-12-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Hunter,
Seriously, they aren't that big a deal. The only two options for dealing
with them is destroy them or trapping them in a room you plan to never
enter again.
As for getting bounced around once you know the level layout being
bounced isn't always a bad thing. You can sometimes use the teleporter
to get back to where you were or near the area where the temperal
disturbance transported you.
I only hate it when a td bounces me and drops me smack dab in the middle
of a monster army and I am getting shot, hit, and bitten from all sides.
Now, that really sucks.

 Hi Josh,
Not in your life. The Loquendo voices have never sold that cheap, and I
doubt they ever will. The company that owns those voices is very very
very anal about their product. They sell ownly to clients with fat
 wallets.
Grin

 Hi Bryan,
Based on the level of text to speech output and emotion shown in the
demos I think some of the Loquendo voices would be possible to sing.
Especially, with some tweaking and a music application that controls the
rhythm, pitch, etc of the synth being used.

Re: [Audyssey] Smugglers 3, a new space trading game

2007-12-17 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi Michael,
I'm glad to see you enjoy it. As Shadow Dragon said, it can be a bit
repetative at times, but the developer is interested in making more games
accessible. He seemed quite eager, in fact.
Enjoy the holidays,
Zack.

There's also an addon for it. I've just purchased the game and the addon
yesterday. It's exactly the kind of game I've been after for years. I had
 to
get the addon from a separate place and can't remember where that was but
it's certainly a blast to play despite having to disable the music and run
in protected mode. The sounds are still neat.

what is the actual home page for the game.
 sounds good.
I have my christmas stuff so I will not buy this yet but if its that
 good
I may buy it for my friend's birthday then we can share the thing which

The trick of it
is that
it's single player, and something you have to buy, though there is a
free
trial
All the best,
Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] SOD Temperal disturbance

2007-12-17 Thread Bryan
Except that the boss takes damage far more easily than the TD's do, at least
as far as I've noticed. It doesn't take nearly as much ammo, especially if
you use the BioDdisruptor or the Laser Pistol. Then again what I like to do
(spoiler space) since there are so many bosses, is group as many of them
together as I can, get them to chase me, then turn and toss a bio grenade
into their midst. Even if it doesn't kill all or any of them it leaves them
hurting. Then you can either repeat the process or pick them off with your
guns.

I have to agree with you on this one. I can say I have no immediate

[Audyssey] Good Christmas presents?

2007-12-17 Thread ari
Hi all, OK, here's the rundown, I've looked at RNIB, I've looked at
Independent Living Aids, and, just to really, really make sure, I've looked
at SANCB, but I really don't like anything, nothing new. What I want is
maybe a puzzle or fun thing that, for someone who doesn't want to sit by the
PC, will entertain that person. If it's a puzzle, it must be something that,
first, can be done on a person's own, a one-player thing, and it would be
cool if you can do things with it afterwards, or make different shapes, I
don't want to import something that a person completes one time and that's
it, it must be sort of entertainming or stimulating for long time. I still
find it rubbish that nearly all the board games sold at these places are
two-player or more, and even then, we haven't had anything new for years,
actually it's getting less! I remember when you could still get a braille
cludo, and a braille rubix cube type thing, but even these have disappeared.
I do like the balls though, not a bad idea, but I really wish we'd see some
new stuff! Oh yes, there's also a digital talking skipping rope at
www.cobolt.co.uk
but don't ask me what it tells you, a talking skipping rope?

[Audyssey] New things I'd like to see

2007-12-17 Thread ari
OK, Just for fun, expanding on the games and Christmas thing, here's some
new fun products I'd like to see developed for blindys.
Electronic Trivial Persuit machine: This little machine holds thousands of
trivia from different subjects, and it comes with a modified board and
counters. Every year, a downloadable update is released so as to keep up
with new sighted editions of the game.
Electronic Thirty Seconds: Nearly the same, see above.
Blind cricket bowling machine: now, at last, like the sighted have been
doing for years, a modified bowling machine for blind cricket? (differnce is
that in blind cricket, ball is thrown underarm, that's why sighted machine
can't be used.)
Driving course and car for the blind!: This new device is an actual car
simulator. This device includes a course, showing you how to change through
all the gears, turning the steering wheel in exact relation to degree turns,
etc. When you've passed course, you drive on simulated roads, with car
shaking and moving exactly how you drive, even making you feel your driving
speed, are you the calm, wonderful driver, or will you drive like a mad man,
cutting in front of cars and getting involved in accidents, when you're
involved in an accident, the simulator ejects you far into the air!

Times Ashes. Is there anywhere I can download that collection now? And
where do I download an interpreter?

I also had a game called Darkness. Is that still around?

Any recommendations for where to look for text adventure games?

2007-12-17 Thread ari
Hi Catherine,
First, curious, but are you the same Catherine from the access-uk list? OK,
about text adventures.
Time's Ashes is at the Interactive Fiction archive, you go to the /starters
page, the file ashes.exe
http://www.ifarchive.org/
There's also many compilations of new text adventures now, when you go to
the /ganes directory, you can download packages of entries for the IF
competitions, including interpreters. Some games I've enjoyed playing use a
new interpreter called Alan, one is called Coming Out Of The Closet by Mikko
Voreunen, a one-location, very fun one. There are also other cool sites with
ta's like Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy, Humbug, etc.

Hi Bryan,
The horrible truth is that most software is cracked and pirated before
the software is ever released to the public. Crackers usually break into
companies development systems, stell the source code, modify the
security system or write a key generator based on code in the product,
and then release the cracked version on major distribution sites all
over the world.
Either that or seriously interested crackers disassemble the product,
create a crack, and reassemble the product with the back door installed.

Bryan wrote:
That does make sense. It's depressing though, that as security conscious as
they are there are still those who find ways to crack into their products. I
suppose that's where you write in precautions that disable certain features
if a genuine authorization key isn't entered, but I suppose there are ways
 around that too.

maybe a puzzle or fun thing that, for someone who doesn't want to sit by the
PC, will entertain that person.

Re: [Audyssey] default game voices

Hi Ari,

Quote
When I was talking about Mary, I meant this other one at the link below, is
there a way to make it your default voice?
http://mary.dfki.de/
End quote

No. The open Mary TTS engine is a Java based text to speech system. It
is not based on the Microsoft Sapi 5 technology.
open Mary seams to be designed as a multiplatform speech system for Mac,
Windows, and Linux and can't afford to be tied to a very specific speech
technology such as Sapi 5.
As a general rule of thumb if the application is not Sapi 5 compatible
and it is not listed in the list available voices in your game or system
voices then it is not compatible with all Windows applications,
including accessible games, and can't be used as the default system voice.

Indeed, there are five bosses in v1.2.

 Hi Bryan,
Yeah, I was wondering about that. I finally defeated the boss on the
Bring Them On level, and I was wondering why if I killed him there were
more coming after me. I kind of thought there might be more than one
 coming after me.
I didn't use biogrenades but I sure took them out with disruptors and
lasered quite a few of them. I even killed one of the creeps with the
machine gun. I hunted it down and emptied some serious led into the Boss.
One thing I did do which was quite cool I used a timed blast mine which
killed some of those Boss things. The rest I lasered, machine gunned,
 disruptored, until they were destroyed.
In all my battle with the bosses and other boss monsters took me an hour
and a half to complete level 9 today.

 Bryan wrote:
Except that the boss takes damage far more easily than the TD's do, at least
as far as I've noticed. It doesn't take nearly as much ammo, especially if
you use the BioDdisruptor or the Laser Pistol. Then again what I like to do
(spoiler space) since there are so many bosses, is group as many of them
together as I can, get them to chase me, then turn and toss a bio grenade
into their midst. Even if it doesn't kill all or any of them it leaves them
hurting. Then you can either repeat the process or pick them off with your
 guns.

 Hi Raul,
Are you sure you got up on the right side of the bed today? You sound
like you are in a griping mood. A real griping mood. laugh
Guess what? I feel like griping as well. I have already griped about
Jaws which is my favorite screen reader for picking on. Hmmm... I wonder
how many over sized messages I can delete today.
Can I shoot them like an arcade game. Here comes a really big one. A
really really really big message. Voom! Bang! message explodes.
I won! I won! I won! Can I play again? please! Please! Pretty please!

 Hiya,
This is one of those games you stumble onto
completely by accident.
The trick of it
 is that
it's single player, and something you have to buy, though there is a
 free
 trial
 All the best,
 Zack.

2007-12-17 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hi

You can indeed sometimes find a good tactile puzzle. I'm not meaning a
jigsaw, but ones that are somewhat three dimensional in nature. I've got
for examples one of those sliding puzzels that you can mess up. Like the BG
15 puzzle game.When it's finished it's a spider. Another is a puzzle you
open and it's about 20 various shaped pieces, and a framework to end up
looking like a square. This one actually has about 15 different ways it's
able to be finished.
Having said that the trouble is finding them. Over here I've found them
mainly in toy stores or novelty shopps.

Re: [Audyssey] Loquendo voices was Quick question

Wow. That's really quite depressing. I guess all you can hope for then is
that enough people are willing to pay for the product the right way to make
the whole thing worthwhile.

 Hi Bryan,
The horrible truth is that most software is cracked and pirated before
the software is ever released to the public.

It's depressing though, that as security conscious
 as
they are there are still those who find ways to crack into their
 products. I
suppose that's where you write in precautions that disable certain
 features
if a genuine authorization key isn't entered, but I suppose there are
 ways
 around that too.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

Re: [Audyssey] SOD Boss was Temperal disturbance

2007-12-17 Thread Bryan
That's actually one of my favorite parts of the game. First you blast your
way through ll those monsters just to get to the door, then you go in and
fight off those bosses. The on top of that there's a Temperal Disturbance to
avoid.

 Hi Bryan,
Yeah, I was wondering about that.

Except that the boss takes damage far more easily than the TD's do, at
 least
as far as I've noticed. It doesn't take nearly as much ammo, especially
 if
you use the BioDdisruptor or the Laser Pistol. Then again what I like to
 do
(spoiler space) since there are so many bosses, is group as many of them
together as I can, get them to chase me, then turn and toss a bio grenade
into their midst. Even if it doesn't kill all or any of them it leaves
 them
hurting. Then you can either repeat the process or pick them off with
 your
 guns.

[Audyssey] Shades of Doom level 9 fun

2007-12-17 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
You know what is even more fun. Run straight through the hall way toward
the locked door, get all the stuff to chase you, kill what ever you need
to on the way, but make sure most of the m follow you. Then have a
hayday with grenades. I may even do a recording of this to show everyone
one day. It's a blast.

Meh, PVP is overrated. What we need is an accessible Gal Civ II. My god that
game is truely amazing. The AI in that game completely blows me out of the
water. For those who wish to read a sample of just what the AI can do, check
out this link:

I would love to see this game accessibalized somehow. Not remade, but given
an accessible interface. This game sounds truely amazing.

Hiya,
I second that. I wish there were a way to get this game playable. This

haven't got time limits.
Any thoughts?

[Audyssey] JAWS abuse revenge

2007-12-17 Thread Charles Rivard
If you continue to pick on JAWS and users of the program, a curse on you:
May you have to write code using 8.5 by 11 inch sheets of paper with
adhesive on the back, in braille, with a slate and stylus, while dealing
with arthritis! Now, how's that? for being ornery.

 Hi Raul,
Hmmm... Seeing that both of us are moderators and use Window eyes we
will win the screen reader war. Best not to start one As the Jaws users
 wil lose. hahahaha.
Seriously, I did some all nighters this week end blasting apart mutants
in SOD. I have had the game for 5 years and I still get a kick out of
kicking monster butt on that game.

Yeah, it does seem that way eh? Well, I do admit, I did not sleep as
well as I could have, mainly due to the fact that I played several games

Jaws comment, you are opening up the doors for a screen reader war. You
also realize of course that the two co-moderators of this list are
Window-Eyes users, one of whom actually works for the company. I wonder
 what people will think?

 OK, I'll stop now.

Re: [Audyssey] Good Christmas presents?

2007-12-17 Thread Charles Rivard
You can occasionally find 3 dimensional jigsaw puzzles. I have one that is
an apple toat comes apart into about 50 pieces. Lotsa luck getting it back
together, though. The puzzle is built in layers. Then, there is the puzzle
that looks like a solid cube of wood that comes apart into 6 pieces. Stuff
like this can be bought in stores exclusive to selling puzzles.

 Hi

You can indeed sometimes find a good tactile puzzle. I'm not meaning a
jigsaw, but ones that are somewhat three dimensional in nature. I've got
for examples one of those sliding puzzels that you can mess up. Like the
 BG
 15 puzzle game.When it's finished it's a spider. Another is a puzzle you
open and it's about 20 various shaped pieces, and a framework to end up
looking like a square. This one actually has about 15 different ways it's
 able to be finished.
Having said that the trouble is finding them. Over here I've found them
mainly in toy stores or novelty shopps.

 Hi Ari,
Well, while I am out shopping I will keep my eyes and ears open to new
possabilities, but unfortunately I haven't seen anything that fits your
description of a good one person game or puzzle that is accessible out
of the box, and is not computer related.
You might be better off buying a gift card, music cd, dvd, or something
 else. Smile
