[Audyssey] huge colection of sound effects
Hi Folks, I just purchased from AmazonMp3.com, 500+ Sound Effects by Sound Effects Price: $1.99 Original Release Date: September 29, 2009 There is a plus sign after 500, which means there is 535 sound effects So that is 3 sound effects for a penny! I couldn't miss passing up on this deal. I think the quality of the sounds are good except for most of the gun sounds which are clipped as the sound was too loud for the recording method. Re: [Audyssey] Heather Voice in Mota Beta 8
Hi Bryan, Exactly. Not only was Sapi support problematic, but in the next version of the engine I'd have to drop Sapi support anyway. I'm currently, slowly but surely, developing a newer cross platform version of the Genesis Engine written in C++. Since the newer Genesis Engine is intended to be cross platform, Mac and Linux compatible, I have to cut out any Windows specific dependancies like Sapi, DirectX, etc. I'm not sure how it will turn out using SDL, FMOD, etc but we will see.Bottom line, I'll have to use prerecorded speech files for the cross platform games. Bryan Peterson wrote: I'd leave it as is as well. The only way you could even come close to pleasing more of these people is one you've already tried and it didn't work out very well. I refer of course to your attempt to run the game via Sapi itself so people could choose any of the voices installed on their own computers. I'm sure we both remember how well that worked out what with all the problems people seemed to be having with their Sapi installs. Re: [Audyssey] usagames
Hi, The main reason is that the product page contains all the up to date information about the games such as system requirements, dependencies, etc. If people make a habit of grabbing the files from the folders directly there is a chance they might miss some change or announcement that would be on the product page. Let's say I switched to SlimDX instead of Managed DirectX for sound and input support. If you grabbed the game from the download folder directly you could easily miss the change in dependencies.Same goes for .NET Framework 4.0. Now, that it is out I might decide to upgrade the game to .NET 4.0. If I did that info would naturally be on the product page, but if you download the file from the download folder you might not know I was now using .NET 4.0 instead of 3.5. Anyway, you get the point. My main concern is that I will make some sort of update, post the info on the product's download page, and people bypass the product page, get the setup file they want, and totally miss the new dependencies, etc. HTH Hayden Presley wrote: Why's that? Re: [Audyssey] usagames
Hi Hayden, Well, I've seriously thought about it. I probably won't convert right away, since it is quite a bit of work, but there is some advantage to switching to SlimDX. For one big reason SlimDX supports XAudio2 which has replaced DirectSound in Windows 7 as the official sound API for Windows. Then, .NET Framework 4.0 is now out, is the version that ships with Windows 7, and of course is just an updated version of .NET. However, since I'm on the fast track for Christmas I doubt I will make these changes before then. Re: [Audyssey] huge colection of sound effects
Hello Phil, Does this include fantasy sound effects as well? Like swords and the like. Thanks, Greg Wocher - Original Message - From: Phil Vlasak p...@pcsgames.net To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, October 25, 2009 9:38 AM Subject: [Audyssey] huge colection of sound effects Hi Folks, I just purchased from AmazonMp3.com, 500+ Sound Effects by Sound Effects Price: $1.99 Original Release Date: September 29, 2009 There is a plus sign after 500, which means there is 535 sound effects So that is 3 sound effects for a penny! I couldn't miss passing up on this deal. I think the quality of the sounds are good except for most of the gun sounds which are clipped as the sound was too loud for the recording method. Awesome Tom! -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Thomas Ward Sent: Sunday, October 25, 2009 8:35 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] MODA Hi Mike, As it so happens the current private test builds of Mysteries of the Ancients beta 9 now runs on all Windows 64 byt editions. One of the private testers just tested it on Windows 7 64 byt edition, and it ran smoothly. So if you can wait for beta 9 to be released you'll be able to run Mysteries of the Ancients on XP 64, Vista 64, and Windows 7 64 editions.
