You'll notice that your crop acts as a kind of controller for the rest of the resources. I'm not sure why it was configured this way, and I have considered changing it, but as of yet, I've not modified that piece of code. What happens, is that crop (being the main product) takes a hit every time you upgrade other products. It does get a boost from other things though, so you'll notice it fluxuating from time to time as you build, upgrade, and continue playing. You'll always need to upgrade your crop more than the other products before you see it increase in proportion to the other items. Again, this code came from the initial version, and I've not modified it's behavior, though I have thought about it. I find this behavior a little counterintuitive. However, it does make sense when looked at from a certain angle, which is why I've (up to now) left it alone. If folks as a whole think this needs changed, then I'll certainly see what can be done, but for now, you'll need to remember crop is the driving force, and you'll need to upgrade crop further to get the same results. Hi All, I just thought I'd put this out and see if anybody's still interested in this old game. For those who haven't read backissues of Audyssey in a while, it's an extremely detailed simulation of tactical combat in the Star Trek universe which is almost completely accessible. The game was originally written for Dos but has recently been revived by one of its original authors. The Windows version isn't accessible as of yet, but the author plans to do that once it starts becoming more than just a straight conversion. I absolutely love this game, its atmosphere is remarkable as is the level of detail and replay value. Most conveniently, it is one of the games that I'm able to play since making the switch to Linux as my primary opperating system a little while back. If anybody's interested in getting this up and running, there's a yahoo group which is quite well-frequented. That group is beginstarshipcombat. The version of Devana I've modified to make it more accessible is at: http://www.thesiegelsnest.us/devana/ I've added things to make it possible to tell what's under construction, and put alt or title tags on all images (except for some related to the world map) and generally cleaned up the interface here and there to help vi folks better understand what's happening. The one at devana.eu is the original site, and I play there too, only I have a lot easier time playing the modified one, because I don't have to guess at what's happening in some cases. Plus, recently, the devana.eu copy seems to have introduced a few bugs recently. For instance, when I have 3 or 4 buildings constructing at the same time, sometimes I find that devana.eu won't correctly track those buildings, and I get stuck with less resources, but no completed building. I've not seen any mention of it on the forums over there, so I'm a little surprised about that, But regardless, it's an excellent game, so feel free to play at whichever site is easiest for you. http://www.devana.eu is the original site, and http://www.thesiegelsnest.us/devana is the one I've modified, so any errors or omissions are mine. To those who know more about jaws than i do, world of legends runs entirely in a console style window, though it was developed comparatively late on, so this is presumably an issue with jaws and console windows. I am sertainly interested. I have no access to dos anymore but if you could give me a link to the author website to look at his stuff in reguards to the windows version I may do that. I can not however subscribe to any more groups. I am on several gaming, test help and tech groups. I had to unsub from music and book sharing groups as well as a chat group because I was getting about 1000 jmessages a week. if I add all the testing sperts up I can get up to 300 a day so as you can see its a bit much. I am and am still enjoying it! Am currantly at lvl34, have nearly 3000 cr to my name and am just wanting that new ship that nice multi role one. I'm extracting a ton of stuff making full use of the gbm although I'm not putting up contracts yet. For now I'm quite happy to make my own res and sell them off to make money. Hi all. there are updates for windows today, also the directx is updated, xact xaudio and x3daudio. I write this because when you update your games will not work. One thing I definitely like about Devana is the interface. Granted, I only have a level 3 town hall, so I can't do much besides continue to build my city, but I have found that the interface is very compact and easy to navigate. Only thing is, I would like a heading just before the town so I don't have to arrow through it. Python is awesome. Check out SFML (sfml-dev.org). You won't be able how to learn to make games from that site, but python + sfml are the two reasons why my project is moving forward at all. THey don't have a mac build on the site, but I think one can be built from source. The one thing about Python (python.org) is that it uses indentation for most code. NVDA announces tabs whe you turn punctuation on, and I'm sure there's something in JAWS to announce formatting changes. JAWS is probably more flexible in that regard (announcing multiple spaces for instance). I don't know about other windows screenreaders.
