Hi Phil,

If you would like to hear the Get Naked Dice rolled, on a marble table top, on
a wooden shelf, in an empty dresser drawer, on a wooden shelf leaning in the
empty dresser drawer, in an empty plastic clothes basket and in to a piece of
Styrofoam packaging, here are the six wave files.

Re: [Audyssey] get naked dice

2012-01-10 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Jim,
I like all the rolls, but like the styroFome the best.
You did not roll the dice on a regular cardboard game board.
I have the Braille monopoly board so I rolled the dice on that to make the
sounds in the GMA dice roller.

 Hi, all
I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to find an accessible

 particularly
like the style of Jim Kitchen's monopoly and was wondering if it would
 be
possible to develop for the IPhone and also have a variety of boards

accessible monopoly games or could one be created for online multi

I would also be interested in the same for scrabble both online multi

 Thanks,

[Audyssey] Alter Aeon 17th Anniversary

2012-01-10 Thread Dennis Towne
Everyone,

This weekend, Alter Aeon is 17 years old!

In celebration we'll be running a one time multi-day event in which
the fate of the magical world is at stake. This will be a multi-stage
event, and our current tentative schedule is:

- Part 1 - Friday, Jan 13, starting at 5:00 pm EST

- Part 2 - Saturday, Jan 14, starting at 12:00 pm EST (noon)

- Part 3 - Sunday, Jan 14, starting at 3:00 pm EST

The first two chunks of the event should be open participation, with
or without a group, and the notices will be posted. If you miss the
start of the parts, you'll be able to jump in later without any
trouble.

The final part of the event, on Sunday, will be group oriented at it's
important to be at least somewhat on time. We may be rerun the final
part later that evening if there's enough demand.

This event is intended to be a mid to high level event. While
experienced players below level 20 can participate, some portions will
be risky or may require a group to complete.

We hope to see you there!

[Audyssey] Developer needs help making game accessible for the blind!

2012-01-10 Thread michael barnes

Hey, All.
The developer of Oubliette needs help with a few things that would make
the game more accessible for the blind! Down below is the email that
he had sent me to get more information about different content in the
game to work with voice over.
So if you have any thoughts on how to help him please email him with
your thoughts at jg...@gabysoft.com

Now here is the message.

The battle is real time but controlled by the speed settings. At the
'Normal' setting (Slider at 50%), the monsters will attack once every 2
seconds. At the slowest speed they will attack at one quarter that
speed (once every 8 seconds). At the highest speed, they will attack at
4 times that speed (once every half second). When you use one of your
characters to attack, there is also a 'cool down' period before they
can attack again. This time is based on the characters' dex. The 'cool
down' period is also adjusted when you change the game speed. So if you
set the speed to the minimum, the characters' 'cool down' period will
be 4 times as long as it is at the normal setting.

However if you tap on a monster (double tap in your case) it will bring
up a screen that shows the monster's information and the game will
pause at that point. So if you want to think about your next move,
double tap on the monster and that will pause the game.

When the battle starts, there is a screen that is displayed which
simply informs them that they are about to battle. In version 2.0 there
are actually 2 possible screens here, one for normal battles and one
for secret rooms. The title of the screen will tell you which is which.
The battle will not begin until your first character takes some action.
At this point you can double tap on the monsters to see what they can
do and adjust the game speed depending on what you are facing. There is
really nothing else that the user sees before the battle begins.

While the battle is running, there are messages that are displayed in
the message box, but for the most part you can probably ignore these.
The monsters will glow when they attack and I am not sure how to
represent this. I can have it display a message when the monster
attacks, but you would have to tap down in the message box to hear it.
It would be nice if there were a way to have the Voice Over speak some
text on command, but I have not found it yet. The player list on the
right has a 'cool down' timer graphic to show when each character can
make their next action. Also the characters' hit points are shown in
red if the character is damaged, and if he is in duress (e.g.
paralyzed, stunned, dead, etc.) a graphic is displayed indicating that
fact. I am not sure how to represent these to the blind. Looking at the
Voice Over documentation it appears that I can set my own text for what
is said when you touch a particular item and I am going to look into
possibly adding some additional spoken information when you touch one
of your players.

The maze on each level is not random, so once you learn where
everything is on a given level, it will not change. There is no 'end'
to a given level, each time you enter a level it is repopulated with
monsters and treasures. Each level has stairs to other levels
(sometimes multiple stairs). Some, but not all of the stairs are shown
on the maps. I am really not sure how to represent the maps for the
blind, but I will give it some more thought. Perhaps instead of a map
at all I can display a list of the features (i.e. stairs, pits and
chutes). Since the maps generally do not include the location of all
the features I am not exactly sure what to show. I wouldn't mind giving
all of that information to actual blind players, but I would rather it
not be available to players who can see.

I am thinking that it might be very useful to have a help page which
explains some of these things that will be displayed the first time the
user turns on the 'Voice Over Support'. If you could put together a
list of things that would be useful to blind players that I could
include on this page, that would be most helpful.

The developer of Oubliette needs help with a few things that would make the

 voice over.
So if you have any thoughts on how to help him please email him with your
 thoughts at jg...@gabysoft.com
 Now here is the message.

The battle is real time but controlled by the speed settings. At the 'Normal'
setting (Slider at 50%), the monsters will attack once every 2 seconds. At
the slowest speed they will attack at one quarter that speed (once every 8
seconds). At the highest speed, they will attack at 4 times that speed (once
every half second). When you use one of your characters to attack, there is
also a 'cool down' period before they can attack again. This time is based on
the characters' dex. The 'cool down' period is also adjusted when you change
the game speed. So if you set the speed to the minimum, the characters' 'cool
down' period will be 4 times as long as it is at the normal setting.

However if you tap on a monster (double tap in your case) it will bring up a
screen that shows the monster's information and the game will pause at that
point. So if you want to think about your next move, double tap on the
monster and that will pause the game.

When the battle starts, there is a screen that is displayed which simply
informs them that they are about to battle. In version 2.0 there are actually
2 possible screens here, one for normal battles and one for secret rooms. The
title of the screen will tell you which is which. The battle will not begin
until your first character takes some action. At this point you can double
tap on the monsters to see what they can do and adjust the game speed
depending on what you are facing. There is really nothing else that the user
 sees before the battle begins.

While the battle is running, there are messages that are displayed in the
message box, but for the most part you can probably ignore these. The
monsters will glow when they attack and I am not sure how to represent this.
I can have it display a message when the monster attacks, but you would have
to tap down in the message box to hear it. It would be nice if there were a
way to have the Voice Over speak some text on command, but I have not found
it yet. The player list on the right has a 'cool down' timer graphic to show
when each character can make their next action. Also the characters' hit
points are shown in red if the character is damaged, and if he is in duress
(e.g. paralyzed, stunned, dead, etc.) a graphic is displayed indicating that
fact. I am not sure how to represent these to the blind. Looking at the Voice
Over documentation it appears that I can set my own text for what is said
when you touch a particular item and I am going to look into possibly adding
some additional spoken information when you touch one of your players.

The maze on each level is not random, so once you learn where everything is
on a given level, it will not change. There is no 'end' to a given level,
each time you enter a level it is repopulated with monsters and treasures.
Each level has stairs to other levels (sometimes multiple stairs). Some, but
not all of the stairs are shown on the maps. I am really not sure how to
represent the maps for the blind, but I will give it some more thought.
Perhaps instead of a map at all I can display a list of the features (i.e.
stairs, pits and chutes). Since the maps generally do not include the
location of all the features I am not exactly sure what to show. I wouldn't
mind giving all of that information to actual blind players, but I would
rather it not be available to players who can see.

I am thinking that it might be very useful to have a help page which explains
some of these things that will be displayed the first time the user turns on
the 'Voice Over Support'. If you could put together a list of things that
would be useful to blind players that I could include on this page, that
 would be most helpful.

Re: [Audyssey] Laser Tag

2012-01-10 Thread Dakotah Rickard
Turns out, guys, that I was wrong about the Phoenix LTX. Hasbro
released it as the Phoenix, then Nerf, which is a subdivision of
Hasbro, took it over and resold it without the neat accessories as
something else, something along the lines of the Nerf Two-player
battle system, but then they discontinued it. In short, if you want
one of these, get it second-hand.

Also, if you search for laser tag, you'll find a lot of stuff. Most of
it sucks. Don't buy it.
Essentially, stick with Light Strike. Yeah, it may not be the very
best ever made, but it's really pretty good, and it's got a lot of
roleplay value too. I'll point that out when I get the podcasts done,
as I don't really feel like bugging my wife into making the youtube
video look decent.

That brings me to another point. Unless I get strangely lucky and I
can get ahold of a pistol early, it'll be at least April before I have
all three rifles and all three pistols. Right now, I have all three
rifles, and I could review them, but I want to know what you guys
want.

Either I can do an individual podcast on each specific piece of
equipment, as well as a sort of introductory podcast to the game, or I
could just do a podcast on the game, then a podcast on the rifles,
then a podcast on the pistols, then the rifle accessories as they
arrive, and so forth.
the advantage to the podcasts being on each piece of equipment is that
you could jump to the piece of equipment that you have, or whatever
you are considering purchasing. If I do it combined, I'll probably be
more brief since there's more to cover, and it'll be a little easier
to take it in all at once, but there's still the haphazard nature of
the thing, doing the podcasts as the new stuff arrives.

Finally, I could just wait until I have everything, including vests
and the I.T.S., a turret device, and then release it all at once as
either one huge podcast or as a huge project of them. The thing is,
it'll probably be at least June before that happens. Good, because
people will be more likely to be able to go outside in comfortable
clothes to play. Bad, because you guys may not like the idea of
waiting.

Please get back to me on what you all prefer.

 Hi, all
I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to find an accessible
 monopoly
game for the IPhone or if one maybe could be developped. I particularly
like the style of Jim Kitchen's monopoly and was wondering if it would
 be
possible to develop for the IPhone and also have a variety of boards to
 make
the game more entertaining. On another note, does anyone know of any
accessible monopoly games or could one be created for online multi

again, with the ability to play custom boards or to create your own
 boards?
I would also be interested in the same for scrabble both online multi
 player
and an accessible version for the IPhone.
 Thanks,
 Lexi.

A lot of my friends played Laser Challenge, which was nearly as
accessible, but it was incompatible with my gun, so we never really
played together, and why should a parent by another perfectly good
laser tag system.

Well, Lazer Tag with a z and Laser Challenge all kind of flopped away
like used fads, not for me but for average consumers. I've been
looking online for decent laser tag style stuff for years, now, with
little success, unless I wanted to pay out the nose on Ebay or Amazon.
However, in the space of just a month or so, I struck gold.

My mom actually pointed out the product while we were talking about
toys I might get for my kids, just as a neat little thought. She
didn't know how meaningful it was for me. She told me about Light
Strike laser tag, a new system from WowWee toys, a reputable company,
most recently, before Light Strike, known for Paper Jams products.

While researching this awesome system, I came across the Phoenix LTX,
now the Nerf Two-Player Laser Battle System, yet another relatively
new system based on an older, more expensive platform.

I'm going to give a very brief overview of what I found from both
systems, and what I want to know is do any people on this list care to
have me do a more extensive review, possibly in podcast or youtube
form, of the light Strike stuff, which I've actually handled and am in
the process of purchasing? I can add to the plethora of reviews out
there, but mine would add a few from the blind perspective. If you
like, let me know.

Anyway, I'll tell you about the Phoenix first, then I'll write on
Light Strike, then I'll compare and contrast.

The Phoenix LTX, which I'll shorten to LTX, is a roughly $70 U.S. set
of two pistol-style laser guns. They have a Nerf sort of look to them,
according to friends I've asked. They host switches and sliders to
control any functions for setting up a game, unusual in an age of
buttons and touchscreens. the LTX

Are you sure you have the latest version? That would be the only
thing I can think of, as you have to have the latest version to
play on the server. If it really doesn't work you might just try
randomly punching buttons and see if it takes that name. I'd
personally highly doubt that somebody would have a 20 letter long
name made up of random characters, so you might be able to get it
to work that way. My reason for suggesting that is that the name
you mentioned seems oddly familiar, though it may not have come

Thanks for the reply. I've re downloaded it just to make sure I've got the
most up to date version and then tried a random selection of 14 letters and
I'm still getting the message 'the name you have chosen and the password
doesn't match or if you are trying to create a new name that someone has
already used this. Very strange!

I've got a lap top so I'll try the download on that and see if it
works.then.

My reason for suggesting that is that the name
you mentioned seems oddly familiar, though it may not have come
from swamp.

Good luck,
John.

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a new be to this group but I've heard you all
talking about
swamp so I thought I'd give it a go as it sounds really good.
However once
I open the game it asks me to enter a name and password which I
do but it
either tells me that the name is being used by someone else (even
if I use
something really random like lemm222 ) or it does nothing just
goes totally
silent and all I can do is press tab to scroll through speech

Anyone come across this and got any suggestions?

 Hi, all
I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to find an accessible
 monopoly
game for the IPhone or if one maybe could be developped. I
 particularly
like the style of Jim Kitchen's monopoly and was wondering if it
 would
 be
possible to develop for the IPhone and also have a variety of boards
 to
 make
the game more entertaining. On another note, does anyone know of any
accessible monopoly games or could one be created for online multi
 playing
again, with the ability to play custom boards or to create your own
 boards?
I would also be interested in the same for scrabble both online multi
 player
and an accessible version for the IPhone.
 Thanks,
 Lexi.

lol Basically, it shows Mitsurugi attacking a bunch of villagers who are
all trying to kill him. He fights off a few, then more show up. Mitsurugi
says, More of you? Fine... and one of the villagers shouts, Stay right
there, Mitsurugi! Your life ends here! He proceeds to kill one more, then
runs onto a bridge. A man grabs a girl to use as a shield, and Mitsurugi
kills the man. Then he looks up and Taki leaps down from above. Then She
says, You're too late.. They exchange blows and she tells him to give
her soul edge which is in a box. He opens the bug, pulls out the sword and

Re: [Audyssey] Bokurano daiboukenn help needed.

2012-01-10 Thread Yohandy

Clement,
I actually wouldn't mind getting Japanese games for my console, if I could
find a good way to import them lol. I could probably do it through sites
like amazon, but that'll probably be expensive. I'm guessing there are
dedicated sites for this sort of stuff? also remember, it's not as if we can
read menus and the like, so only advantage you have over the rest of us is
you can understand some dialog. haha. anyway only bad thing I find about
this import thing is the fact that DLC isn't region free, even though disc
itself is. so if there's DLC and you want it, you're pretty busted. you know
what's kinda hilarious? I got this free game from Japanese PSN store just
for trophies. well and cause it was a free game. and who doesn't want free
stuff? had to create a Japanese account and everything. that was a pretty
painful process. hahahaha. but hey now I'm all awesome cause I have this
Japanese game showing up on my PSN. yeah! lol

Yup. I did finish stage 4... it isn't that much of a stage. Most of it's
pretty simple. lol Glad you're enjoying though... at least someone's
making use of it. And as I've said many times, there are benefits to
knowing Japanese, even as little as I do know. Even on the ps3, I get
about twice the amount of games you guys get. haha Especially with the ps3
since it's region-free... which is totally awesome. And yeah, I'm
assault_freak... I used to love that mud. Still do, actually. Just haven't
had time to play it.

you did stage 4 or not, but I'm on stage 4-3 I think it is, and I'm on a
street with a dog and somee beeping things. the heck? rofl. if you
recorded that stage, I'll be looking forward to knowing what on earth is
required there lol. this should be some really fun reading though. keep
it up man, and thanks for this!

2012-01-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jack,

Yes, Audiogames.net seems to be down. I tried accessing the forum
earlier and the server was down. So I'd just wait a day or two and see
if things come back up. I'm sure the admins are doing all they can get
back up and running again.

Re: [Audyssey] Bokurano daiboukenn help needed.

2012-01-10 Thread Clement Chou
Actually, dlc is not region-free. If you have a Japanese account you can
download anything and that includes downloadable content, so far as I know.
And believe it or not, we actually are better off with Japanese games...
why? Because all the menus are translated online! And yeah, there are
definitely sites dedicated for importing.. play-asia.com comes to mind, it's
pretty good... I've gotten a few games from them. As to being able to
understand dialog, well, that's because a lot of the times the same phrases
are used over and over. That combined with my basic knowledge of the
language makes it easy to understand what's going on. This is why I always
have my games in Japanese... I know it's frustrating for people listening,
but it helps me learn more of the language as I go.
