Hello friends!
I discovered a new strategy to deal with this guy.
Drop your items and stand at the position
after some second he will disappear then go to the opposite direction
and again come to that location where you dropped your item.
because he will not reappear so don't worry
Thanks

On 10/10/14, Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com wrote:
 Hi Josh,

Not really. The thing here is that they would end up being two
completely different games, and the only thing that the text adventure
would have in common with its audio game counterpart is the basic
storyline. Other than that they would end up being vastly different
 games.

To explain the thing about Montezuma's Revenge, like most arcade
games, is that it relies heavily on fast action, decision making, and
relies on avoiding things such as jumping over rolling skulls, snakes,
spiders, and various traps. If you lose that element of jumping over
things the game loses a lot of replay value as well as the primary
mechanic of the game. Something that would have to be replaced with
something else in a turn-based text adventure mode which wouldn't be
 the same at all.

Plus Montezuma's Revenge wasn't ever about combat to begin with. While
you could obtain swords by finding them in various places they would
vanish after you used them. Meaning you had to mostly rely on your
skill and your wits to avoid enemies rather than rely on a sword to
kill them. That would never work in a turn-based text adventure where
there is little to no way to avoid enemies by jumping over or ducking
under them rather than fighting them outright. So that aspect would
have to change to suit the turn-based play which would ruin the game.

 Cheers!

Hi Dark,

In deed. I am sure the scientist wasn't expecting a mine to blow him
to kingdom come. Of course, the way he laughs he probably isn't
expecting too much because he is off in his own world.

I have however have beaten the poor bloke to death. Yeah, hitting him
with fists isn't the most effective way to kill him, but it is
possible to pound him into putty with fists if one is so inclined to
do so. I am not in that mood too often, but have done it a couple of
times just to relieve some stress.

Hi Austin,

LOL. That sounds like overkill to me, but as long as the insane
scientist gets shot fried, blown up, etc I guess it doesn't matter how
he dies. the important thing he does die.

As for myself I usually go for the dramatic as well. For example,
sometimes I come after him with the chainsaw and imagine hacking him
to pieces. Boy, that is fun chasing him around with the saw and
cutting him down in his tracks. Probably quite gory, but it is a major
stress reliever.

Re: [Audyssey] montezuma's revenge

2014-10-12 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,

You are quite right. There are already lots of treasure
hunter/adventurer type games out there. So there isn't any need to
create another one based on Montezuma's Revenge given that it would
basically be more or less like other such games.

That said, I personally was not considering creating a text adventure
like this anyway. For one reason I have had enough of Montezuma's
Revenge, have already had more than I want to do with the legal
entanglements with that game, so have absolutely no interest in
creating anything to do with that game or its characters directly.
Although, I have considered doing something similar to it with my own
ideas, characters, and storyline.

Well a serious game with Panama joe exploring a temple could be funn, though

it would depend upon the execution of course, sinse there are already plenty

free demo game from malinche as an example.

This is where some rpg mechanic would actually help sinse it'd be far more
fun to me to fight the snakes and spiders and animated skulls etc, than just

have locked door and object puzzles.

I'd actually recommend you check out the Joust Zcode game, it was written by

Andrew Plotkin and as you'd expect being by him is arather nutty. I like the

way however you have to win by getting your creature above your opponents,
knocking them off and then grabbing the egg which floats to different rooms.

it's only a short little experiment but it's sort of fun for it's
 weerdness!

2014-10-12 Thread dark
I admit punching out the insane scientist is more for amusement than anyting
else, he's such an annoyence that he's just insisting for a fisting :D.

Now, I wish David Greenwood would give us that shades map editer so that we
could just have a boxing ring full of insane scientists to pound on!

Seriously, amusing as he is, I always found it a bit odd that he's the one
surviver you actually encounter (or possibly there are more than one if you
count the multiple instances of the scientist on different levels as
different people), and yet the agent never actually tries to question him
about what happened much less attempt to save him.

It sort of feels a little unfare given that he's the only real human you
come upon, and has obviously been made insane by all the monsters and
madness and experimental craziness. I'm probably reading too much into this
though, sinse fundamentally he's more fun to slay! :D.

[Audyssey] Shades of Doom Cheat codes

2014-10-12 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Dark,
Shades of Doom version 2.0 also includes the full set of Cheat codes. You
can enter them into a game that gives you powers beyond the design of the
game.

I have my screen reader running when I use them.
You can just remember what they are and type them in or cut them from the
instructions and paste them in, after removing the trailing comma.

Once the game starts and you are walking, hit control-z
The game will prompt you for a cheat code.
Type or paste it in and hit enter.
You should get an exceptance sound effect if done correctly.
All weapons

The all weapons cheat code allows you to choose any of the 9 weapons from
the beginning. You still have to collect ammo for them after the default
amount is used up.

you fire it.

Re: [Audyssey] Shades of Doom Cheat codes

2014-10-12 Thread dark

Hi Phil.

I really ought to sort shades out. Unfortunately something wonkey seems to
have happened with my Gma account and I'm not listed as owning the game with
my account on the Gma site, and while David has given prefectly good
instructions on fixing this involving copying bits of information and user
codes and downloading new copies and what not I've just not particularly had
the energy to go through it for essentially getting what is effectively a
sound mod version of a game I already know very well, albeit an extremely
good one, which I know is admitedly very lazy and more about my general lack
of motivation than actual problems with the system. Indeed I've been vaguely
tempted to just pay the 19 usd and count the extra as a donation to Gma,
though again, the fact that when I already have a highly working copy on my
Xp machine it's hard to summon the enthusiasm.

This isn't to cryticise David and the upgrade, sinse I can see the point of
what he's done and playing with the mouse would be fun, and what I have
heard of the new sounds in the demo was nice, but it's just a case of
actually featuring something exciting and new and interesting enough to make
me get off my arse and take the trouble of installing it and refamiliarizing
myself with all the controls.

This is quite a contrast to say paladin of the Skies, where I really! was
eager to try the thing, or even The Ensign, the recent sequel to A dark Room
on Ios.

As I said, I'm not sure how much is my general apathy with games which is
probably just one part of my general apathy with life, as opposed to how
much is David not putting enough new and interesting stuff into the upgrade
to excite people who know the first game backwards like me, that is quite
another debate and one I'd need to considder, plus of course it's one which
i'd only be qualified to actually think about if I'd played shades 2.0 more
than I actually have.

 Hi Wayne.
There are no specific guides to interactive fiction for blind/vi users,
however there are several general if guides, and sinse If is inherently
accessible anyway as all your doing is reading on screen text and
responding, that shouldn't be a problem.

In terms of software, all you need is an interpreter and the game files.
Interactive fiction games are like music files and you play them in an
interpreter program just like you'd use Winamp, Windows media player,
itunes, Vlc player or whatever to play your music files.

For what interpreter you need, that depends firstly on what format of game
your looking at playing, and secondly what screen reader you have. some
people find the Filfre interpreter helpful, (I don't have the address on me
but there is a page for it on audiogmaes.net), which can run Zcode or Glulks
format games, I personally prefer win frotz and win glulks as I said, again,
all of these have audiogames.net database entries so go and check there for
 more information.

Once you have the file and the interpreter, it's just a question of reading
the text and responding with what you type into the interpreter. interactive
fiction are basically interactive stories that repsond to commands in
truncated sentences, so the commands are realtively easy, stuff like get
sword, light lantern, directions such as north and south etc.

 For a general guide see
 http://www.microheaven.com/IFGuide/IFGuide.pl?step=6c=0 for instance.

The site is a little dated but it explains all about what interactive
fiction is, and how to play it, though as I said for interpreters you
probably will want to investigate some alternatives.

Sorry if this is a little scatty, I am not in a very awake state at the

You can find lots of stuff on the interactive fiction archive,
http://www.ifarchive.org/, however there the games don't have reviews or any
information about them so your best off checking somewhere, reading
descriptions and reviews and going from there.

I usually use a site called baf's guide to the interactive fiction archive to
look for games sinse they have individual pages for each game with links to
reviews and solutions, but they seem to be down at the moment which is annoying.

Sorry if this is a little scatty, I am not in a very awake state at the
moment due to sleeping badly last night, if you have any other questions
please ask.

Hth.

As far as I am aware the game is only available for people living in

Hi Austin,

Hi everyone,

I've released Tactical Battle 2.0.

See the release announcement here:

If you're not familiar with Tactical Battle, it is a turn based strategy
game with a large focus on letting players create their own maps, units,
skills, effects, items, and terrain.
Players have created maps with themes similar to Indiana Jones, zombies,
Star Wars, Star Trek, and numerous different fantasy sub genres.

The game is free, so if you like strategy, give it a try.

I've got the English version lying around, and can upload if its really
needed. That said, I believe the download link was posted a few times on

Re: [Audyssey] 1812 hard of winter

2014-10-12 Thread john
I'm going to presume you haven't read the license for the game and are
making that comment as a somewhat uninformed statement about distributing
software in general, and not as an implication that I'm performing illegal
activity. Just to clear up any lingering doubt, I'll paste the relevant
portions of the license hear for you:

You are hereby granted a personal, non-transferable and non-sublicenseable,
nonexclusive, world-wide, royalty free copyright license to reproduce,
prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute
and sublicense the program examples and applications (1812 Heart of
Winter) and any such derivative works, in source code and object code
form.
Looks like I'm clear on that front.
Redistribution. If you choose to distribute this application or any
derivative works thereof in a commercial product, you must defend and
indemnify all authors, developers, licensors, and distributors of 1812
Heart of Winter against any losses, damages and costs arising from claims,
lawsuits and other legal actions (excluding actions based on intellectual
property infringement claims) brought by a third party against the
Indemnified Parties to the extent caused by your acts or omissions in
connection with your distribution. Regardless of whether your distribution
is a commercial product or not, the license under which you redistribute
1812 Heart of Winter or any derivative works thereof must:

effectively disclaim on behalf of all authors, developers, licensors, and
distributors all warranties and conditions, express and implied, including
warranties or conditions of title and non-infringement, and implied
warranties or conditions of merchantability and fitness for a particular
purpose;
effectively exclude on behalf of all authors, developers, licensors, and
distributors all liability for damages, including direct, indirect, special,
punitive, incidental and consequential damages, such as lost profits;
state that any provisions which differ from this license are offered by you
alone and not by any other party; and
require that the license under which any subsequent distribution of 1812
Heart of Winter or derivative works thereof is made satisfy the terms of
this section.
I hear by state that, if by redistributing this software, for the intent of
providing a convenience to a specific individual, if I am sued, I will not
hold the developers of the software liable.

You might be right. But the first part is confusing. It says that you are
granted a personal license. It also mentions that the license is
nondistributable.

You are hereby granted a personal, non-transferable and non-sublicenseable,
nonexclusive, world-wide, royalty free copyright license.

I wish the documentation would state things in plain layman's English rather
than using confusing legalese.
