Actually Orin, it's not your hardware at all.

I heard zombi growls in the review of 1.9, but not in the current version,
so i assumed they'd been removed or toned down. I've actually had to
completely mute other players' steps and just use the ping to tell where
other players are to give me best chance of hereing a zombi, but I just
assumed this was difficulty of the game.

I must admit growls would be nice, sinse right now I don't really know which
sort of zombi it is until I shoot it, and even then I'm not absolutely sure
on the different types and what they do.

Hi all,

I believe when I played in 2.3, Zombies when coming toward you would growl
as they came. Why has this been removed? I was in the gas station parking
lot and heard them or at least one, so I centered the footsteps as best as
I could and fired. I missed so it ran faster and i couldn't tel whether it
was running away or toward me, plus other player footsteps were in the
background. I wonder if it's my headphones and e not being able to center
things, my mouse cencitivity or maybe there's a delay with Vmware Fusion
though I doubt that because there are good Swamp players using virtual
machines.
BTW, Aprone, is there a way you could implement the NVDA API DLL so that
Swamp could support System access/SA or SA to GO?

hi dark, i think its somewhere by the destroyed business i went down

much better place for getting weapons and the like but when you start
exploring the hospital it can be dornting at first, i believe you have
to be level 7 or 8 to progress to map 2, its great fun when you get
there though.

Whenever you get to level 8, head for the boarded up business, there's

plenty of medkits, a silenced weapon if you have one, and pay close
attention to figure out the quickest route through the sewers. It can
get pretty busy, so you'll want to find a route to get you through as

The confusion about the zomnbies seems to be generic. As a

dogs have the least. Everything elspe is in the middle, but

I find that turning off player footsteps is the only way to
accurately aim at zombies. If the zombie starts walking faster,
it's seen you. This is easy to pick up on when player steps are

Re: [Audyssey] Swamp: Zombie Growls?

2012-05-16 Thread john

Silencers:
As you play more (and start doing missions) they're the only way
to go. The problem with firing without a silencer is that the
other zombies will here you. If your not right on top of them,
you can easily take out a tyrant with your silenced pistol and
slip off. Better yet, reload and finish the group. They do take a
bit of skill to use properly (particularly with tyrants as they
can take a full clip of g19 ammo).
If you like the winchester, you'll love the m40. Yes, the ammo
costs almost four times as much, but it's got a scope and a very
distinctive hit sound, and can usually drop any creature in one
hit. I personally find that I prefer the mp5 to the winchester
though, as it's got the same range, about the same noise level
and a much faster firing rate and much larger clip size. It does
take a few more hits to bring something down, but the main
advantage that the winchester has is the scope.

You can't get in the cars. I personally find that the train gives
you a very limited scope of vision, and it's easy for the zombies
to come around the corners of the doors and attack. It's not like

Hey Dark,

It's level 8 to get on to map 2, but definitely worth putting in
the
graft to get there as the second map safe zone has a few cooler
things
to buy (better armour, some other weapons, scopes and silencers
etc).
Whenever you get to level 8, head for the boarded up business,
there's
a sewer pipe there that will take you through to map 2. Hint:
take
plenty of medkits, a silenced weapon if you have one, and pay

Hi Dark,

I'm not in front of Swamp at the moment, but from memory the sewer
pipe is on the south side of the destroyed business, that being just
off Green Lane. You'll find a blast zone first, and the sewer entrance

To be honest, I didn't check it out before getting to level 8, so not

[Audyssey] Swamp: Zombie Growls?

2012-05-15 Thread Orin
Hi all,

I believe when I played in 2.3, Zombies when coming toward you would growl as
they came. Why has this been removed? I was in the gas station parking lot and
heard them or at least one, so I centered the footsteps as best as I could and
fired. I missed so it ran faster and i couldn't tel whether it was running away
or toward me, plus other player footsteps were in the background. I wonder if
it's my headphones and e not being able to center things, my mouse cencitivity
or maybe there's a delay with Vmware Fusion though I doubt that because there
are good Swamp players using virtual machines.
BTW, Aprone, is there a way you could implement the NVDA API DLL so that Swamp
could support System access/SA or SA to GO?
Thanks.

[Audyssey] Swamp: zombie growls panning to reflect movement

2012-05-06 Thread Scott Chesworth
Hey Jeremy and all,

Yesterday during a particularly axe-tastic mission, I noticed
something that might be worth some of your time to tweak.

At the moment, if a zombie growls when it's on the move, the growl
sound triggers from where the zombie is in the stereo field, but the
growl doesn't then pan to move along with the zombie. The end result
is that with longer growls, there is about 5 seconds worth of
discrepancy between where the growl is coming from and where the
zombie actually is. Sure, footsteps update in the meantime, but it'd
add a lot to the realism if the growls could lock in properly with
movement.

Cheers
Scott

Subject: [Audyssey] Swamp: zombie growls panning to reflect movement

 Hey Jeremy and all,

Yesterday during a particularly axe-tastic mission, I noticed
something that might be worth some of your time to tweak.

At the moment, if a zombie growls when it's on the move, the growl
sound triggers from where the zombie is in the stereo field, but the
growl doesn't then pan to move along with the zombie. The end result
is that with longer growls, there is about 5 seconds worth of
discrepancy between where the growl is coming from and where the
zombie actually is. Sure, footsteps update in the meantime, but it'd
add a lot to the realism if the growls could lock in properly with
 movement.

 Cheers
 Scott

2012-05-06 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
This is actually a bug I haven't been able to track down yet. For me, for
example, the growls pan just fine. Some people who have tested this for me
have tended to tell me that most of the time the growls pan but just every so
often one won't and that is what really catches their attention. I've been
over the code a few times and I don't yet understand why we get the flukes that
just stand still.

Well, here's another variation to throw into the mix, for me they
don't seem to pan at all once they're triggered.

Good to know you're already aware of it anyways...
