Hello Lukáš, We had a trailer up on the USA Games web site for quite a while, but we had a major hacker attack in February of 2008, and the USA Raceway trailer was lost. We have been focussed on actual development of the title so have elected not to put up an updated trailer until the game is further along in development. Cheers. Hi James and all, Sorry, Raceway isn't ready for download yet. I have months of work to do on the program, and any time table I might have for the game just went totally out the window after I got socked with the copyright crap over Montezuma's Return. Hi Claudio, As for your first question the answer is I do not know when Raceway will be ready for pre-order. All I can say is it will be ready when it is ready. I've got to get Montezuma's return out of the way as well as get my Genesis 3D engine stable, because Raceway will be one of the first games built upon my Genesis 3D technology. As forr tunnels in Raceway that is probably unlikely. Raceway is based upon American Nascar racing, and all tracks will be built upon the real Nascar tracks as well as the game will operate on Nascar rules and regulations. Claudio wrote: Hello Thomas! Hi Ryan and all, Some clarifications are in order. Initially I had planned on using midi output for music and was going to record the music tracks for the game myself. However, as was witnessed on list that idea went out the window do to unpopularity. Now, I am likely going to put in a couple of music tracks as stock with some Nascar sounding rock tracks, and allow the user the option to play or his/her own mp3s or something. Hi Charles, Yes, if I used unlicensed music copyright issues would be a problem. However, I am going to get a license for a few Robert Neary tracks since he does make some Nascar racing songs like Speed Racer and Mustang Challenge. that will give a few basic tracks for say menus and things, but I will have to use some sort of mp3 software like WinAmp for playback of the player's own music. You'd think that Rock music would normally be the theme for a race, something that can really get you into it. The trailer, on a whole, sounds pretty cool. But my gosh, the music was just ...' just ... just so inane. It sounded like I was driving down a country lane, not racing on a track. I have several questions for you. 1) I noticed that the when you were speeding up that I did not hear the rpms of the engine increasing. Was this because there was no sound for this? (I noticed that it would step up everything you would shift, but I could not tell why you shifted up. I also noticed that you did not have3 to slow down for each corner. 2) I that the length of the corners was realistic (like how long it would really take to go around a corner). I like the sneak peak and am looking forward to the next peak. Next question for you, what were the other noises I heard? Hi William, Well, keep in mind here what you heard is a pre-Alpha version of the game. Most of the game is still under construction. However, I'd like to see if you can finish the final product in five minutes. Most of the races will range from 300 laps to 500 laps each, and there will be multiple cars on the tracks as well. Hi Soren, Believe it or not I was probably doing 200 to 215 MPH. However, one area I know needs more work is the acceleration and frequency changes in the car engine. Keep in mind this is a very early rough draft of the game, and 99% of it still isn't working. In fact, all you can do right now is drive on the demo track. You can't keep score, select a driver, season, etc... The only reason I posted the trailer at all is there was a request to here the sound effects etc as a progress report of the game. I think that the answer to your last question is that you are passing another car once in a while. I think the car we are in is being driven on the high side of the track. At times, it sort of sounds like we're riding in a bus. I personally would not, if I had the option, have the music playing. It sounds sort of like what we used to refer to as, elevator music', but, as I say, this is a personal opinion. I did not notice the steady increase or decrease in RPM as we were moving along as I had expected to hear. End quote That is a good suggestion, and that should be easy enough to accomplish. DirectX allows for the applying of effects like echo which I can turn on or off as needed. In fact the options menu is the same as Montezuma's Revenge since the games share the same class library. As for my rendition of Start Me Up being elevator music what can I say. Midi playback doesn't have the same quality of sound as if I had a real pro music studio to record in. So Cakewalk is my friend at times like that. At any rate the music is subject to change. Who knows I might license some professionally recorded music for Raceway at some point. I basically slapped some music in there to have something to play while playing the pre-alpha. Hi Soren, Hopefully when the game is complete it will be along the lines of Nascar Thunder 2006 rather than Need For speed. Need For Speed is a completely different kind of racing game.
