Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings
Hi Yohandy, In short, Shaun sent some sample recordings to the list to hear him podcasting. I repplied stating I didn't think he was the right person for the Audyssey podcast in my opinion. Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings
Thanks Shawn. As I have said, I don't know how much I would be able to commit but I would like to be a part. I am not able to commit financially in any capacity what so ever at this time. I am running win xp pro with a USB malty mix 8 channel board and a cad C195 condenser microphone. I use gold wave for all of my audio editing. Yes I have heard your stuff its quite good. What exactly could you commit life and funds depending ofcause. If you have seen my announcement skills you will see I am probably not ready to host the cast at least in that role. I have xp so recording should be ok. Eventually I think the only real way we could do this is if we have an old system with an analog soundcard. It would be single core with low ram though. I to have an external recorder but the stereo image is rather narrow. I am not sure how much I can commit, as I am getting ready for some very big changes in my life what with going back soon for another seeing eye dog after loosing Kenya to prostate cancer back in September, and my wife being 17 weeks pregnant with our first baby *grin*. [Audyssey] sample recordings
Hi all. Ok as prommised here are samples of my work. Take in mind that at the time I did most of this I did not have all the equipment I had now. Some of this is from a project unreleased. I made a couple files, a game sample and a voice only which should have been a game but for some reason the right device on the recording program was not set right and it never recorded right. My voice could be a little to loud so maybe I will have to fix that. You should get a clear sound from the realtech card in the box playing laser breakout of all things. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1407689/sample.zip I don't promise perfection but at least I can keep the wheels turning. If you are happy to handle hosting at least for now, that will hold the cast for a bit, I plan to look into the cdn type of stuff. at some point. I guess I'll leave the community to its business. HiBryan, Please, don't take it that way. What I said doesn't effect you personally. All I was attempting to do was point out that the show's host should sound like an experienced semi-professional to professional host. That doesn't have any effect on people who submit content, reviews, etc. Now, if people think I'm being too picky, bossy, etc let me know. I'll step aside and let you guys do it your way. just throwing in my 2 sense here, I have done both an internet radio show as well as many podcasts which you can hear over at http://www.blindcooltech.com. In Sean's defense, Kelly does podcasts/music production professionally. While I have no idea as to what kind of experience Sean has had with podcasting, I can say that Kelly has to have said qualities in order to be successful. - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Date sent: Thu, 10 Nov 2011 16:10:39 -0500 Subject: Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings Hi Shaun, I don't want to sound rude or overly critical, but i just don't think these samples are of the kind of quality I'm looking for in terms of a podcast. Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings
hi tom, I aggree with you. I don't have the experience behind me, yes I know how to do things but have rarely done any real projects for a time. Right now though, interest is rather small. We will have to get into things like how submition works, who actually does actual announcements etc. Maybe I souldn't take the entire thing on my sholders, though I should manage at least parts of it even if its behind the sceens. Right now I am waiting for the idea to mature. Once thats done, I believe with 000webhost I can make the basic mirror, not much else, file download is rather bad but who knows. Maybe I have been to foreward in rushing things as right now not to many are comming foreward. Today I did the research into mirroring and licences, its up to the community to decide what they want ofcause I just needed to find what was what. And for now it appears like i have reached a stopping point. Point is that unless more than the 7 people we have now on list and the forum are interested, there will not be any cast. Sertainly not the cast I invisioned and therefore I won't be comitting at all. My last project flopped over with practically no material, bad or non existant equipment, and the fact that there was really not much going on. I plan to have the cast as interactive as possible. If we had 1 or more people dedicated to hosting or being announcer then that would rock. Even if I just handled the admin parts, blog, forum, etc. I plan on if possible of having some sort of teamtalk for later use but thats rather much later. Its fine tom, I can't say I have been that pro to be brutally honest. And its probably a good time before the stuff starts that the flames burn bright before we actually have got things worked out. With time I probably could do some of the cast. We need some sort of managed host structure, where with some training or whatever different people do one bit, slowly expanding to do more and more but alternating somehow. Its still quite alpha though. Right now I'd appreciate those that want to do the editing/ announcing to send me samples with the acception of kelly since I have heard his stuff on sod and thats credit enough. I have been pushing my nut for a bit so I really should see what others are willing to do and how much. Obviously you have seen my short commings, so thats where it is right now. on that note I would appreciate that people post this idea everywhere and see what a general responce would be if something were to go ahead. Obviously judging from what has happened in the last little while I will need more assistance then generally planned but thats ok. Nothing is in beta yet, there are no rules, there isn't even shares or submition/upload areas. I have done a load of research from licencings and cdn to chat servers and the like. But nothing has actually been set, this is still alpha stage, my stuff a rather early alpha. Any real code is not written yet so its early days yet. Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings
hi darin. I'm just trying to give you advice when and where I see it. I think you know that I have a highly developed sense of what is considered to be a professional standard--some might say its too strict--but that's just how I see things. I personally feel it would be wrong of me to say this or that sounds great when I really don't feel that way. I think it is in the casts best interest if we find someone who has experience doing some kind of podcast or radio show who sounds professional. Maybe that's not possible--I don't know--but we should try to do this podcast the best we can. Cheers! Its an idea for a podcast I am planning to well do between magazine issues though I won't be the announcer on it at least for the moment. I have also done voiceovers including some for the swamp game. That being said I would love to be a part of this project if it ever gets off the ground. I am not sure how much I can commit, as I am getting ready for some very big changes in my life what with going back soon for another seeing eye dog after loosing Kenya to prostate cancer back in September, and my wife being 17 weeks pregnant with our first baby *grin*. But I would love to be a part for what it's worth. Re: [Audyssey] sample recordings
Thanks john. I have had some experience with casting but not to much, I hardly cast, and I don't have all the pro equipment. My aim was to find a middle ground between pro and amatur. And although I can see both sides if the majority want to go all pro then I need to evaluate where I stand with the project. I hoped to marry both areas together so its non biased. However if people are going towards one of the 2 areas mentioned then it may be time to just stop before I even start and save myself the grief I could get later.
