aah.
you have not opened the right file.
the file is located in the c drive program files, coman files folder.
its in microsoft shared in the speech folder.
oh if you run it you won't know if it runs or not because there is no
interface but it has ran.
open sapi.cpl then hit ok.
again.
the errors will have gone for once only however after you reopen the sapi
control panel although the speech recognition error will appear the other
will not appear.

I'm sorry, but I'm not getting the second set of errors that you guys are
getting. My default voice is ATT Crystal, but I went through all of my ATT

sorry, but I don't know what to say.

BTW I have the sapi4 sdk installed as well, so am not so sure that is a problem.

2008-02-25 Thread Fun Times
Hi Dark,
I tried your idea, but that didn't work. Right now I'm stuck using Microsoft
Sam as my default voice, but only because I can't change it. I have 18
different voices on my computer , all better than Sam, any way Thanks for
the try

Greetings brian.

I'm afraid I have no idea why you might be getting runtime errors with
speech, but on jim kitchin's site http://www.kitchensinc.net/ there is a
program to fix errors with Sapi, which it might be worth trying.
you can also download the installer for the Mike and mary sapi voices, which
are both better than the default microsoft sam which your probably using now
in the spoonbill games.

 Hi friends,
When playing Ian Humphrey's games I don't like the voice the games are now
using, so I'm trying to change the default sappy voice, but when I go to
 control
panel, speech I there get a run time error. Can someone help me in
changing the voice that is used to play Ian's games. I'm using Windows XP
Pro and have two sound cards installed. Any help
 would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jim.

as I said in the other message, I'm currently on my laptop, and I realized I
stil had sam on here, going to alter things, I had the same trouble Brian
described (right down to the same error message), and I certainly do not
have two soundcards. Any advice would therefore be appreciated from me as
well.

I followed your instructions you sent, then I selected cepstrel Frank as
 the
voice I wanted to use and got the following message:
 --- RUNDLL--- An exception
 occurred while trying to run
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL
 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft

I'm wondering if it makes a differance if I have two sound cards installed
or if you have any other ideas. Thanks for your help,

 Hi Brian,

If the error that you get reads

The requested task cannot be carried out because the necessary engine
 could
not be created. Please select a different engine and slash ora different
 audio device.
 ok button

So click on the ok button and then the second line from the top of the
 screen will read

speech recognition tab text to speech tab

So click on the text to speech tab and you will then be in the area where
you can change your computer's default sapi5 voice.

Hi brian.

quite ironically, after your post I went to the control pannel to alter the
sapi sinse I'm currently on my laptop and hadn't done it yet (though my
desktop has always been fine with it). I actually ran into the same trouble
you describe, so am also interested in the answer.

2008-02-25 Thread shaun everiss
you need to find a file called sapisvr.exe
then run it.
This error is a result probably because the rec engine and sapi4 have issues
then something was not run or something.
find and run sapisvr.exe
then it should all work.

well there is another way.
It envolves sacrofising sapi4 support.
1. reformat then load everything but sapi4.
I don't know how to uninstall sapi4 as well as the actual api itself.
And well it will work.
But you can't use any sapi4 device ever.

Re: [Audyssey] Changing Sappy voice for playing games

2008-02-24 Thread shaun everiss
this runtime error has 2 parts.
part1 is to do with the ms speech recognition engine.
Reason is that sapi4 and 5 probably have issues with eachothers files although
this issue is betwene the speech rec engine and sapi.
This error can be left alone because its not a major issue.
If it is you can just reformat and not use any sapi4 synths at all.
the second error has a fix.
search the hard drive for a file called sapisvr.exe
run it.
then open the control panel speech then colose it.
Then open it again.
you will get the first error and then ok that, change the voice settings then
hit ok.
and everything sapi wise will work.

then closeAt 05:27 a.m. 25/02/2008, you wrote:
