Re: [Audyssey] Descent into madness
Hi Ishan, What Lisa meant was that your English is not as good as it could be. Its not her thinking but your English that is difficult to understand. Sometimes your messages are made up of misspelled words and grammatical errors that make them hard to read and understand. Also weather you intend to be insulting or not sometimes your comments come off rude or insulting. For example, in this message you say, I know only that way of writing and If you saying this is unclear then it is your thinking. Understand what you said is extremely insulting. Especially, for someone who has been reading and writing in English their entire life. If someone who is an English speaker says there is something hard to understand about your writing than that probably means it is true. Saying it is their thinking that is the problem is very insulting. Especially, given that in the sentence I quoted above there is a grammatical error that shouldn't be there. You said you saying this is unclear when you should have said you say this is unclear. Its a common mistake for people who are just learning English, but it is various things like that which make your messages difficult to read. I'd be willing to help with some of these errors, but not if you are going to cop an attitude that it is my thinking that is the problem rather than your poor English. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] Descent into madness
Hi, I've played with the Descent into Madness, so I understand most of the questions. I don't remember about the card reader, but I'll give you a hint about the safe combination: Did you meet another guy who had been locked up near the bathroom? I think you'll understand his voice better. He'll tell you something he heard the scientist repeated over and over. Part of playing a game like this, at least for some people, is to keep trying to get everything figured out to rescue people. Unfortunately, when I played it, I either couldn't turn it off, or I have no clue on how to finish it when the guiding voice says something like, congratulations, you've conquored the monsters. They're all dead, or are they?! That's where I gave up and had a difficult time closing the program. As I recall, I couldn't save my moves in slots so I could come back to them. So, unless the makers went back and made the corrections, Descent into Madness was not completed. Still fun to play, though! Hi Michael, Sounds like a bad install to me. I downloaded and installed it on my old laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, the 32-bit version, and the game ran fine. Hello, Thomas. I know that people get tire of me asking the same questions but if I don't keep asking then nobody will answer me. I do go to the different search engines but I don't seem to be able to find anything. By the way I am having trouble getting the SDL.net runtime to download, I did however downloaded SDL. 1.2 and move the files to the lib folder in the Descent directory. Re: [Audyssey] Descent into madness don't work on seven.
Michael, Maybe what you need to do is re-load your Windows program, with the loading and unloading of a program that many times, it may be a possibility that you have inadverdently deleted a dll file which you need, so at the very least you might give some thought to doing a repair on your Windows program. Just a thought. Re: [Audyssey] Descent into madness don't work on seven.
Hi, Well, I'm not certain what is exactly causing the crash, and I'm pretty sure Descent comes with everything it needs. You definitely do not need SDL.NET as that is specifically for C#.NET and VB.NET and has nothing to do with Python. I merely suggested getting the standard SDL libraries and adding them to your system path, but that may not resolve the issue. Cheers! Hello austin. You can get descent into madness from http://www.cs.unc.edu/Research/assist/et/2005/SoundsLikeFun.html and yes it is certainly freeware. Just for future reference, you might want to check the game database at www.audiogames.net, and the fantastic games list on www.pcsgames.net. both are great places to find out what games are available, read a litle about them, how much they cost and where to get them. hth. Re: [Audyssey] descent into madness
Hi, We have a team of 35 researchers here over at AudioGames.net, who use every possible technique to track down audio games, collaborating with organisations such as CIA, FBI, Pentagon, NASA (we once found an audio game hidden in a [EMAIL PROTECTED] stream, but it turned out to be a Scotland Yard cover up). ;) But seriously, we do keep track of what game developers are doing (basically track the sites of developers in the archive). We are contacted a lot but the people who make these (such as students who use our website for their research) and we google alot. And a lot of information is generated by this list of course! You need to use your items on elanor - or however else you spell her name. so use the ingredients, she'll give you the key. Well I have figgured the 2 codes to the sitting room. However there are a few bugs. The first is the elenore start sequence does not play and instead the lab sequence question is. A key was found amongst one of my examinations. However there doesn't seem to be the question about picking it up and it should be a picked up object. Due to this I have reached a spot in the game where I need to access the kitchen door. And I don't think I can access it because of said bug. Re: [Audyssey] Descent into Madness
There name isn't so appropriate if you look at below quote, in any case it didn't sound like fun to me. quote: The only controls are the arrow keys, the space bar, and the esc key, which are all relatively easy to find for a blind user. Unquote. Personally, I'll challenge any of them to see who find what keys on the keyboard easiest, evil grin. Well maybe this is not entirely on games topic here, but it seems to demonstrate to me the perceptions sighted people have of accessible games. As long as they think like this, there's no way they'll be convinced that a main stream game can be written in such a way that it is accessible, while to the contrary, if you look at something like unreal, the amount of extra work to make that accessible was really not a lot. It's almost playable, mainly because it was one of the first games commercially exploiting the world of 3d, or surround sound, in the main stream games. Matthys ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Descent into Madness
There are several instances when the game will crash. restoring from a saved game. pushing anything during the computer activation message. Not all the audio can be stopped safely although the game is seemingly ok. Stuff can be done out of sequence and the game does not tell you about item configurations. you can not drop items if you pick them up wrongly. The game is quite picky about what you choose and when. There should be except there isn't a feature to replay sequences of say tones on passcards even when you are typing them in. At 04:03 AM 6/23/2006, you wrote: Umm. Has anyone played this yet? Re: [Audyssey] Descent into Madness
Well the drawback with this game is its replay value is really 0ish. There is no randomness in the game. I now know the solutions to some of the puzzels. I doubt said things will change much if at all. Its sertainly a challange to figgure out. However this something like an audio version of if which is different from the other stuff we have grown to have. I wouldn't play this game all the time neither would I play an if game all the time. well the game will keep me entertained for a bit. This game does have hard puzzels though. Sertain things like the passcard and sertain codes are needed to advance to other parts of the game. My suggestion is to solve all the hard stuff first before trying other easy stuff. Even if its out of sequence. at least you don't have to do that later on. Once I finnish the game I am going to write a spoilers file for it. I will also include audio sequences from the game where appropriate and the appropriate button sequences. You actually get the key for the door in the kitchen from somewhere else. I have gotten that key. If you want me to tel you how I did it, let me know and I will put a spoiler warning. smiles I agree however, that it is a good game, but one that has some annoying bugs in it.
