[Goanet] Re Goanet - Manohar Parrikar

2018-05-30 Thread Vivian A. DSouza
We are fed selective news about Mr. Parrikar's health.  First he was supposed
to return in May, then mid June, then end of June. All we can do is pray that he
regains his health and returns to Goa  soon.  It is obvious that despite
attempts to hide the seriousness of his illness he has gone through a very
difficult treatment regiment.  Mr. Parrikar, get well soon.  Goa needs you..e

[Goanet] Re(GOANET) Old Goan Men with Internet facility

2017-02-20 Thread Vivian D'Souza
Now, now Louise, I take exception to your characterization of old Goan men
with internet facility.  I am old (78 years), have and have had Internet
facility probably from its inception, AND I live in Goa.  I enjoy the postings
of Roalnd Francis, Marshall MendozaDr. Jose Colaco, Con Menezes and others who
perhaps are not as geriatiic as I am.  I may not agree with all the postings,
and take many of them with a big grain of "mith", but I find them enlightening
and informative.  Wny are you so bitter about the postings on Goanet ?  If you
don't like them, you have the option of delete or bail out of this forum.  I
have been around almost from the inception of GoaNet and have seen various
"characters" come and go, some out of their own choice, and some having been
showed the door.  The moderators do a fairly good job to ensure that the
"crazies"do not take over this forum.Goanet has served the Goan diaspora well
for over two decades, and hopefully for many more years o come.

response:

I believe that the Desh Premis want to revert - in the first instance
- back to 1510 i.e. the year Portugal defeated Adil Shah

That also means the following in addition to what Vivian has so
succinctly stated (above):

1: Overturn the Portuguese ban (by decree) on Sati
2: Revert back to the days when the Caste System was officially accepted.
3: Abolish the Westminster system of Government (not that it is
significantly better than the dadagiri which existed pre-1510)
4: Ban the Railways, Buses, Bicycles, Planes, Cars, Radio, TV, Modern
Medicine hospitals - all of which are 'foreign interventions into
Goa'. (Though one could do a bit of revisionism and claim that all of
the above were actually invented in Benaulim or Moira)
5: Reintroduce the Devadasi system
6: Ban cashew, cricket and colacos ( esp those who changed from
"citizenship" from that of Bijapur to that of Portugal.)

[Goanet] Re [goanet] Matanhy Saldanha- Reply to Rajan Parrikar's

Mogall Shridhar-bab,

This is not the first of Rajan Parrikar's postings that I have
copied for the attention of the GBA Core Group. I am as aware of
Rajan's leanings towards Manohar Parrikar as I am of your leanings
towards Digambar-bab via my friend Datta D. Naik of the Third

cream, it is not as if the whole world turns blind!

Rumours had it that Digu-bab hit an Australian jack-pot while he
moved from Jaipur to Delhi in January, 2005. Are you saying that
Matanhy-bab also got a share to keep quiet?

I am not a Salesian product and never did study in Don Bosco. To
Matanhy's credit I will only say so much: he got elected on an UGDP
ticket and stood with that party for ALL THE FIVE YEARS. He served
in only ONE GOVENMENT and, when it fell, sat in the opposition.
Shridhar, can you say as much for the man in whose official
residence you were early this morning ? Rajan Parrikar has asked a
question about that , too.

I come from a Jesuit school that has for its motto three simple
words DEEDS NOT WORDS. These words are difficult for turncoats with
hidden agendas to understand.

Whether it is Modi or Hal-Kannadi you know it best. Roman script
is enough for me! ;-))

Even I wonder how I forgot the 'Azad Gomant Dal'. Perhaps, the death of
Vishwanath N. Lawande, the friend of Mr. Pratapsingh Rane, dims my memory. AGD
took property at gunpoint from poor villagers in pre-Liberation erathen
developed and sold it private entrepreneurs to make a quick buck as recently as
the mid 1980s.

The Mocidade Portuguesa was ostensibly like the Boy Scouts or NCC or

Dear All,

This is an interesting topic

About a year ago, I wrote to many websites including that of the National
Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in Goa to either give due credit to the
photographer OR remove the photograph of the Dudhsagar Falls from their
site. To their credit, the NIO website no longer displays that plagiarised

The South Asian Women's Forum website displays the photograph and gives due
credit (please vide footnote). It is not a commercial site as far as we
know.

[Goanet] Re (Goanet) NRI Meet and other issues

2007-01-07 Thread JoeGoaUk

RP2001 was discused on the first day more than 2 times.
(miniters presernt were Willy (Chief Miniter didn't turn up), Digambar & Chief
Passport
Officer)
Willy the Enviroment and Tourism minister washed his hand saying he is not a
part of RP2001
nor it/file has come to his office and that he was not aware of it at all.
Second day there was an indirect mention of it more than once.
Ministers present were Luizin Faleiro, Dayanand Narvekar and Subash Shirodkar
(and they had
nothing to do with TCP or Enviroment as Willy did not turn up) they all painted
rosy pictures
of oneself or thier achievements. Including power point presentation by IT and
Health minister
Narvekar. I wonder if 80% of those 40 delegates present understood it at all.
As I understand majority of the delegates were retire senior citizens including
ladies.
Third day there was no interactive session with the ministers.

Read more on Day one on GGC
  http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2007-January/052482.html

Some Excerpts:

-Interactive session (open forum- Q & A seesion)

Minister present: Eduardo, Willy, Digambar, Chief Passport officer..

CM was supposed to come but send his Deputy (Willy) instead. Perhaps, because
of RP2011.

Alexander Fernandes from Kuwait raised garbage problem and that every time
this is taken up
‘we get same old baxonn’

Wilson Coelho again from Kuwait sought clarification from CPO about the ENCR
requirement to
those who could not complete 3 years abroad as he/she had to go back to Goa
say due to death
in the family etc. Also said Pakistani Goans visa takes 3-6 months.

Another one from Kuwait, a president of Goan welfare Association said that
there is no help in
Kuwait to those who are in distress. Also, it seems he was criticizing the
previous speaker,
which most found very strange.

Alwyn from Honkong fired the first Salvo on RP011

Aires Rod, again RP2011 and said ‘all share in the same pie’, high level of
corruption citing
eg. A talathi asking Rs.500 for a certificate and when asked why, the talathi
says he has to
recover Rs.7 lakhs he paid to get the job.

There was another with RP2011 again.

After discussing the above, Faleiro says no more topics on RP2011.

But Ahisha Siquera from New York brought up the topic again and Mr. Faleiro
said no. to this a
gentleman next to her stood up and said what the point of coming here if the
topic is not
discussed and that this is a waste of time. Faleiro replied saying ‘so, don’t
waste your time’
to this, they both walked out.

Victor D’Souza (London) says Communidade refused to give him a small piece of
land 50sqmtrs
for him for car park on the ground he was not resident here.

Rene Barreto (UK) said something about people changing ‘Form I & IV’ of his
property.

Custodio D’souza (France) complained that Indian Embassy staff there treating
people like
cattle.

Coach left for Fort Aguada Hotel for Dinner.

At this time (around 8pm) total delegates were about 45

But around 9pm the the crowed was nearly 150 again, with the arrival of
ministers and other
dignitaries but mostly were other govt officers, friends, family and chamchas
of ministers
like Joaquim alemao, Digambar Kamat, CM, etc etc.

Cultural programe there started one hour late again (because CM and other
ministers came
late). Function got over around midnight.

This might interests you too..
My source said, when he first entered the convention hall, he mistook it as
'biknnakars'
conference as he saw almost all were in the casual dress like T-shirts, half
shirts etc.
He went back to reception only to ask which hall GGC takes place. There were
only about 3-5
NRIs with suit/ties it seems

Sadly, there will be no reporting for Day 2 & 3

[Goanet] re (Goanet) Talking photos: Poder Poder Ponk Ponk (A feedback)

2006-12-31 Thread JoeGoaUk
It's seems there are now 'third generation poder' in Diwar Island(Goa).

'Poder' or baker in this area, come by Maruti car.

The writer, who has just returned to Gulf, even told me he had a picture of it
on a CD but was
left behind (back home).
