ShopZ software report not working?
Ive noticed for some time now that my uploaded software report no longer seems to have any effect when I create an order for CBPDO products that have new version/release. I typically upload a fresh report (binary), then create a CBPDO order and typically filter by "my installed products with upgrades". So that I can see which products have installed I need to order to refresh my installation. This is a problem, because manually looking for updates is error prone, and quite time consuming. Has anyone else noticed this?I have opened a PMR with ShopZ support. This has happened to me several times because I typically do the ordering at night. Apparently, sometimes when you try to add a csreport during off (for IBM) hours, one of the servers that IBM uses to parse the report isn't there, and you just have to wait a little for it to come back online. Normally it's always up from 7am to 9pm Eastern time. I just tried it and it's working right now. CustomPac (ISPF) ServerPac removal from Shopz is only 10 days away!
Please notice, there are only 10 days left in which to order a CustomPac (ISPF) ServerPac for z/OS *and* all subsystems/program products. After July 10, 2022, the CustomPac (ISPF) ServerPac installation method will be removed from Shopz, leaving only the z/OSMF ServerPac installation method. If you are in need of a CustomPac ServerPac, now is the time to place your order if you haven’t already. We’ve seen a lot of traffic to the education website where you can learn about how to install a z/OSMF ServerPac, with a sample z/OSMF package to help you learn how to do the install on a small throwaway package: https://www.ibm.com/support/z-content-solutions/serverpac-install-zosmf/ Notice that we have full capability for merging data sets now in the z/OSMF ServerPac, including zFS data sets. I’ve been getting a lot of questions and some confusion about what is happening with CBPDO. The answer is nothing. CBPDO remains as it is, and will be orderable and available after July 10, 2022.If you’ve always loved CBPDO and wish to continue to use CBPDO, it is still there. However, I do wish folks would try out the z/OSMF ServerPac (aka portable software instance) as it really does have some benefits that the CustomPac method did not have. -Marna WALLE z/OS System Installation and Upgrade IBM Poughkeepsie -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

Re: Shopz Question
Marna, Thank you for taking the time to respond. I was of the opinion that I was obviously doing something wrong as I only saw 5.5 as an upgrade path. I worked with a support engineer after opening a SR (SEV3) on the issue and based on the error I am seeing, it may be a combination of my authority level *and* an entitlement issue. Curiously though, what is the difference on Shopz that enables me to order via a z/OSMF-packaged ServerPac versus the original ServerPac dialog radio button? I do not see the z/OSMF version as a choice. It that now the default? How do you guys do apply, srcid(PUT)? IBM's, and my personal recommendation, is to apply SOURCEID(RSU*). Order ALL, as there is no harm in having a PTF in your hands, but APPLY SOURCEID(RSU*). PTFs which have not yet been assigned an RSU* sourceid are not yet recommended by IBM. The time line in which a PTF gets recommended depends on a number of factors which you identified, but even the low severity PTFs will eventually be recommended, after it goes through IBM's Consolidated Service Test cycle. It is usually ~90 days, but depending on schedules it can take up to ~180 days for a given PTF. Re: shopz UJ01255
it was superseded by UJ02346 in PUT2003 which was contained in RSU2006. so I would imagine that if it was already supped just 2 months later that getting it now would probably not be a productive use of your time. While you can install by PUT, I would not. I think it's far better to stick with RSU's. Less work (for me) and less problems. Unless you actually really and truly need one (or more) of the non-RSU (yet) fixes, I would not order them them, or at least not install them. There is too much chance of (eventual) error before the RSU testing is complete. Re: shopz UJ01255
This is not state of the art solution, but... You can prepare another order and explicitly request all the missing PTFs in this order. Finally you will have two (three..) orders which you can RECEIVE into CSI. While it is convenient to have all needed PTF within single order it is not required. BTW: Things may become more complicated for older PTFs, but this is definitely NOT the case. -- Radoslaw Skorupka Lodz, Poland W dniu 25.09.2020 o 02:45, R Hey pisze: Hi, I did an order RECEIVE ORDER(CONTENT(RECOMMENDED)... in shopZ for zos2.3 in May & Sep. Classification: Limited I went through a similar discussion last year (? this year? Time flies..), and I now do RECEIVE ALL - just means you have all available fixes, whether you then go on to APPLY them of course, is entirely up to you, but I found it was better to have them than now. It's also worth noting that RECEIVE ORDER will bring in updated SOURCEIDs, so if you already have the fix, and it did subsequently make into an RSU, it will then get that sourceid applied to it.
