Did she do the insert v and arrow down to auto complete addresses?
I know it will announce the names with Outlook XP and 2003, but not sure
 about 2000.

Patricia,

I think Outlook 2000 does not have this facility; a later version of
Outlook, such as Outlook XP and Outlook 2003 is required to give the same
facility as Outlook Express.

Tell your sister that Outlook does this a bit different. When she is
creating a new message and she's in the to field just start typing the

Hit ALT-T for Tools.

on his Preferences. Go to the Email Preferences button and hit the
spacebar. Go to the Advanced Email Options and hit the spacebar. Make
sure that the checkboxes for Automatic Name Checking, and
automatically complete addresses in the To, CC, and BCC fields are
checked. Tab over to OK and hit ENTER. Tab over to OK and hit ENTER.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-03-01 Thread Patricia

Thanks Donny, she is looking I guess for a quick fix so that like in outlook
express when typing a few or just one letter of a persons name the auto-fill
inserts the email info into the designated field, but maybe this isn't
available for outlook.

 Hey Patricia,

There are probably several ways that you can do the address for an email
 in Outlook, but as they
say, There is more than one way to skin a cat! Here's what works for
 me:
 1. Type in the first name of the person you want to send the email too.
 2. Press control + K (a prompt will appear giving you all the people with
 that name. If there are
more than one, just arrow down to the right name and press enter)
 3. Tab down and fill in the Subject line.
 4. Tab down to the edit field and type the message.
 5. When finished hit alt + s or control + enter, to send the message.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or if I can help you any
 further, please feel free to
call me at the number in the contact info at the bottom of this email.

 See ya,

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Alan Terrie Robbins

Patricia,

Tell your sister that Outlook does this a bit different. When she is
creating a new message and she's in the to field just start typing the
person's name in. She can either type part or all of it. Outlook will
fill it in automatically after she leaves the field. If there is more than
one match in the address book she will be prompted to choose which address
she wants once she goes to send the message. She can confirm what is in the
field by hitting the alt key and the # 3 key on the keyboard not the number
pad. Let me know if you have other questions.

thanks
Al

After she types in a few characters of the address, she could do a control K
to check the names. This will bring up a list of addresses and then she can
arrow down and press enter on the correct one.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Griffiths, Steve

Please ignore my last message - I was thinking about something else while I
wrote it! What I meant was that the facility whereby Outlook autocompletes an
email address does not work in Outlook 2000 and requires a later version. The
Control + K method or just tabbing to the next field will both work, although
the latter can take a couple of seconds to kick in.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Robert S. Batchelor

It is my experience that you have to build your addressee's up. Example if
you haven't sent this person an email in outlook yet you have them as a
contact or in an address book in Outlook you need to send them an email and
then after sending it they will be there the next time Kind of like
building it up. That's what I had to do after I reformatted even though I
save my pft or pst folder and reinstalled it after the reformat.

Anyway after the first letter or two of the person you are addressing the
email to the down arrow goes through the letter of the alphabet to whom you
are wanting to send the email to. Once you find the name it is highlighted
when using the arrows, hit enter and the name goes in the TO: box of the
email then tab to subject line , fill that on if you choose and then one
more tab puts you in the text field or body of the email you want to
compose.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Griffiths, Steve

Patricia,

I think Outlook 2000 does not have this facility; a later version of Outlook,
such as Outlook XP and Outlook 2003 is required to give the same facility as
Outlook Express.

reason it's not doing that for outlook, is there a setting somewhere she

She uses jaws 8 and the job won't let her use OE due to networking and

 Patricia,

Tell your sister that Outlook does this a bit different. When she is
creating a new message and she's in the to field just start typing the
person's name in. She can either type part or all of it. Outlook will
fill it in automatically after she leaves the field. If there is more
 than
one match in the address book she will be prompted to choose which address
she wants once she goes to send the message. She can confirm what is in
 the
field by hitting the alt key and the # 3 key on the keyboard not the
 number
pad. Let me know if you have other questions.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Donnie Parrett

Hey Patricia,

There are probably several ways that you can do the address for an email in
Outlook, but as they
say, There is more than one way to skin a cat! Here's what works for me:
1. Type in the first name of the person you want to send the email too.
2. Press control + K (a prompt will appear giving you all the people with that
name. If there are
more than one, just arrow down to the right name and press enter)
3. Tab down and fill in the Subject line.
4. Tab down to the edit field and type the message.
5. When finished hit alt + s or control + enter, to send the message.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or if I can help you any further,
please feel free to
call me at the number in the contact info at the bottom of this email.

See ya,
Scooter

It is my experience that you have to build your addressee's up. Example if
you haven't sent this person an email in outlook yet you have them as a
contact or in an address book in Outlook you need to send them an email
 and
then after sending it they will be there the next time Kind of like
building it up. That's what I had to do after I reformatted even though I
save my pft or pst folder and reinstalled it after the reformat.

Anyway after the first letter or two of the person you are addressing the
email to the down arrow goes through the letter of the alphabet to whom
 you
are wanting to send the email to. Once you find the name it is highlighted
when using the arrows, hit enter and the name goes in the TO: box of the
email then tab to subject line , fill that on if you choose and then one
more tab puts you in the text field or body of the email you want to
 compose.

 Hello,

My sister at her job uses Outlook 2000 and after using Outlook Express 6
from home she is having some troubles doing some of the same things in
Outlook and asked me for help, but I use Outlook Express.

She needs to know how to make her address book so that when she goes to
 send
an email and starts to fill in the persons email address it will
 automatically fill it in.

 Thanks for any help..

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Cohn, Jonathan C [IT]

Another useful Outlook keystroke is alt-k it will complete any incomplete
addresses. Jaws 7+ works quite well with Outlook 2003 in that as soon as one
starts typing an address that has been recently used Outlook will pop-up a list
of possible matches and Jaws 7 / 8 will read that list in the standard PC
cursor. In Jaws 5 I had to move jaws cursor to PC cursor and then do a few
down-arrows and then a right click to select from the list.

She can confirm what is in the
field by hitting the alt key and the # 3 key on the keyboard not the number
pad. Let me know if you have other questions.

thanks

[JAWS-Users] Re: Outlook Address Book

2007-02-28 Thread Annette Carr

There are 2 things that I think you need to make sure are checked in your
e-mail settings.

Go to the Tools menu on the menu bar.
Select Options.
Tab to E-mail...
On the Preferences tab select the Advanced button.
There are 2 check boxes on this tab that need to be checked. One has to do
with completing names, and the other has to do with suggesting names. If
they are not checked, press space on each one to check them.
Click OK in each dialog box until you are back to Outlook.

HTH,
Annette

[JAWS-Users] Re: outlook address book

2007-02-21 Thread Griffiths, Steve

Annette,

I don't know where Outlook stores this information, but I know how you
can turn it off in Outlook 2003.

It's on the Tools menu, Options. On the Preferences page, which should
have focus, press the E-mail Options button, then the Advanced E-mail
options button and on that dialogue, down near the bottom, there is a
check box labelled When sending a message suggest names while
completing To, CC and Bcc fields. If you uncheck that checkbox, you
won't be bothered with the text appearing on screen as you type in the
recipient name.

In addition to the Address book, or other wise known as the Contacts,
Outlook stores e-mail addresses of people you have sent messages to.
Since Outlook 2000 I've never been able to find where these are stored.
I'm hoping someone on this list will be able to point us in the right
direction, because it drives me crazy when JAWS starts to read an
address and I can't figure out what it is saying. If I could only
delete these it would make JAWS and I get along much better.

looking for but I think that Boop or someone said you can't do that in

[JAWS-Users] Re: outlook address book

2007-02-20 Thread Annette Carr

Outlook does use a pst to back up your data from all of your folders, i.e.
inbox, contact, calendar, and other personal folders. But Outlook stores
the e-mail addresses of people you've sent mail to when you don't have those
people in your contacts.

Hi Annette,
Just got in, so I haven't had a chance to research this yet.
I believe the file that Outlook uses is a .pst.

In addition to the Address book, or other wise known as the Contacts,
Outlook stores e-mail addresses of people you have sent messages to. Since
Outlook 2000 I've never been able to find where these are stored. I'm
hoping someone on this list will be able to point us in the right direction,
because it drives me crazy when JAWS starts to read an address and I can't
figure out what it is saying. If I could only delete these it would make
JAWS and I get along much better.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook address book

Hey Gang,
I have a friend that has outlook 2003, and she is trying to get to her
address book. Here is her question?

When I hit control shift c it does bring up the contact page. So that is
handy to know. I have about five names I have put in as new contacts, but
when I am trying to find is the place where it stores people who I have sent
email to in the past, not just the sent messages but the list of all the
people I've contacted. It has them somewhere because in the to field of any
new message if I start typing the first name of someone it brings up their
address but I don't know where it's getting that from., That's what I am
looking for but I think that Boop or someone said you can't do that in
Outlook 2003 which is what this is so it may not be possible.

Can you help her thanks?
Patti
