[JAWS-Users] Cannot tab through choices in Outlook Express

2009-03-13 Thread Sherri
Hello list members,

I really need your input. I am currently using JFW9 and not sure which version
of Outlook Express. I can no longer tab between the different choices in
Outlook Express. When I press the tab key, nothing happens. I am stuck in the
message List View. I cannot tab to either my tree view of folders or the
address book. I really need to get into my other folders, since I have e-mail
filtered into them. The tab seems to work fine in all other applications. Any
help would be monumentally appreciated. Thanks.

2009-03-13 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Open the view menu, enter on layout, and check the appropriate boxes,
particularly contacts and folder tree. One thing I wouldn't check is the
preview pain, mainly because of security risks, unless you read messages in
plain text. Once you've checked the appropriate boxes, press enter, and try
tabbing again. Hope this helps.

Chris, You are wonderful! I looked all around in the view menu, but wasn't
sure where to go. Problem resolved. Don't know how all those items got
unchecked. Now one more question please. What is the difference between the
folder list and the folder bar?

[JAWS-Users] Radio Buttons In Gold Wave

2009-03-13 Thread Darrin Porter
I have just started using Gold Wave with JAWS and the current scripts
, but have discovered that, in several places, radio buttons don't work
properly. Is this a known problem and, if so, is there a fix?

This is the problem. In certain dialogs, the batch file convert dialogue, for
example, when you tab to a set of radio buttons, the arrow keys don't change
the selected button. My work around is to route JAWS to PC, arrow up or down
to the radio button I want to select and then route PC to JAWS. This works,
but is a little annoying. Also, JAWS will often say, for example, WAV radio
button checked, 3 of 3, when, in fact it is the top button in the vertical
list. Again, not all that important, just a little annoying.

I am using JAWS 9.

Re: [JAWS-Users] probably not part of jaws but nearly fell out of mychair what is this?

2009-03-13 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Karen,

The siren sound and voice that you heard was likely your avast! antivirus
program warning you of a threat that it had found. You might have browsed
to a site where avast! recognized the running of a malicious script.
Navigating away from the page was likely the best thing you could have done.
However, I suggest that you empty your Internet cache and remove other
temporary files in case one was left behind that avast! will continue to
recognize.

If avast! gives another warning then first check to see if it is the active
window by pressing JAWS key with the letter T. If avast! is not the
active window then use Alt key with tab key to move to the avast! window and
release the keys. Once in the avast! window you can use tab key to move
between the various choices.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] probably not part of jaws but nearly fell outofmychair what is this?

2009-03-13 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Karen,

If you are using Internet Explorer then you can open the browser, use Alt-T
to move to the tools menu, and find the delete browsing history menu
choice. Press enter on the choice. You will then get a dialog box with
buttons for deleting such things as temporary Internet files, browsing
history, cookies, etc. Press the tab key to move to the various buttons and
spacebar to activate the buttons you want to use. You will receive a
confirmation dialog for each button you depress.

If you are using Firefox then go into the tools menu and press the letter
O to bring up the options dialog box. Use down arrow key in the list of
option types until you get to the privacy choice. Use shift with tab a
few times until you find the clear now button and press the spacebar. In
the dialog box that appears you will have checkboxes for removing temporary
files, cookies, etc. Use spacebar to check or to remove the checkmark from
the boxes and use tab to the OK button to accept your choices.

If you have CCleaner then you might just want to use it to remove these temp
files.

Take care.

Hello Karen,

If you are using Internet Explorer then you can open the browser, use
Alt-T to move to the tools menu, and find the delete browsing history
menu choice. Press enter on the choice. You will then get a dialog box
with buttons for deleting such things as temporary Internet files,
browsing history, cookies, etc. Press the tab key to move to the various
buttons and spacebar to activate the buttons you want to use. You will
receive a confirmation dialog for each button you depress.

If you are using Firefox then go into the tools menu and press the letter
O to bring up the options dialog box. Use down arrow key in the list of
option types until you get to the privacy choice. Use shift with tab a
few times until you find the clear now button and press the spacebar.
In the dialog box that appears you will have checkboxes for removing
temporary files, cookies, etc. Use spacebar to check or to remove the
checkmark from the boxes and use tab to the OK button to accept your
choices.

If you have CCleaner then you might just want to use it to remove these
temp files.

Take care.

Hello Karen,

The siren sound and voice that you heard was likely your avast!
antivirus program warning you of a threat that it had found. You might
have browsed to a site where avast! recognized the running of a
malicious script. Navigating away from the page was likely the best
thing you could have done. However, I suggest that you empty your
Internet cache and remove other temporary files in case one was left
behind that avast! will continue to recognize.

If avast! gives another warning then first check to see if it is the
active window by pressing JAWS key with the letter T. If avast! is
not the active window then use Alt key with tab key to move to the
avast! window and release the keys. Once in the avast! window you can
use tab key to move between the various choices.

Take care.

I was trying to get to radio stations on the web and jaws or something
else sounded like another voice besides jaws suddenly said with a loud
siren going off, virus detected!! What should I have done. Got out of
there quickly...didn't enter.

Sure! Why not. There is nothing sacred about CONTROL-ALT-J except that
it may be easier for some folks to remember, especially if they use a

Just putting in my 2 cents here. Could a person have as their JAWS
reload key combo as Control Alt 9? Maybe also Control Alt 0?

Just thinking.

how do you start JAWS? Perhaps you have both set to launch at
startup,
and they are competing to see who starts first. Make sure that JAWS 9
is not set to launch at startup. Also, if you start JAWS with the
same
hot key, either delete the hot key for JAWS 9, or choose a different
one. One way to make sure that JAWS 9 will not run is to uninstall
it.
If JAWS 10 is working fine for you, and you have no complaints with
it,
there's no reason to keep JAWS 9 on your system.

Hi guys. I've got jaws 10, but every so often it seems to go back to
jaws nine even though I'm running jaws 10. I'm wondering why it is
doing that, and do I need to reinstall it again? it's a real pain,
because I quite enjoy using jaws 10, but can't get back into it when
jaws nine seems to come up when it's not wanted. kimmie.

Open the view menu, enter on layout, and check the appropriate boxes,
particularly contacts and folder tree. One thing I wouldn't check is the
preview pain, mainly because of security risks, unless you read messages
 in
plain text. Once you've checked the appropriate boxes, press enter, and
 try
 tabbing again. Hope this helps.

 Hello list members,

I really need your input. I am currently using JFW9 and not sure which
version of Outlook Express. I can no longer tab between the different
choices in Outlook Express. When I press the tab key, nothing happens. I
 am
stuck in the message List View. I cannot tab to either my tree view of
folders or the address book. I really need to get into my other folders,
since I have e-mail filtered into them. The tab seems to work fine in all
other applications. Any help would be monumentally appreciated. Thanks.

Tried to update jaws from the update in help didn't work got an error

after several retries and starting over kept getting the following error
message even after a reboot and trying again.

Installer Information
The cabinet file 'JAWS.cab' required for this installation is
corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a
network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a
problem with this package.

If you want to make a lot of money working at home, I suggest getting in
touch with Bernie Madoff. Now that he has a lot of time on his hands, I'm
sure he'll be glad to show you how to launch your very own Ponzi scheme from
the comfort of your own home. Seriously though, most work at home deals are
scams and should be avoided, otherwise your pockets may wind up being drier

Re: [JAWS-Users] updating jaws error

2009-03-13 Thread Flor Lynch
before you install the new build, perhaps you need to first uninstall and
remove your original JAWS10 and its folders - particularly if it was
downloaded from the Web. Then try installing the new build. Or, if the
original JAWS10 was downloaded from the Web, you could uninstall it and then
install it with the JAWS10 CD, and then update it via JAWS Updates. (For
safety, just check that JAWS10 one, before doing any other updates there.)

before you install the new build, perhaps you need to first uninstall and
remove your original JAWS10 and its folders - particularly if it was
downloaded from the Web. Then try installing the new build. Or, if the
original JAWS10 was downloaded from the Web, you could uninstall it and
then

install it with the JAWS10 CD, and then update it via JAWS Updates. (For
safety, just check that JAWS10 one, before doing any other updates there.)

Re: [JAWS-Users] Message That Reoccurs On Desktop

2009-03-13 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Donnie,

It sounds to me like there is a process using the INIT command to start
configuration of a program. Perhaps the EZ Dock is a docking station? If
your friend doesn't need the configuration of the docking station to be done
when she starts her computer then the process can be stopped from running at
that time. You can check to see if the process is shown in the Windows
Configuration Utility by doing the following:

1. Bring up the run dialog by using Windows with the letter R.
2. Type in msconfig (without the quotes) and press the enter key.
3. Press shift key with tab key to move to the page tabs of the dialog box.
4. Press the end key and then left arrow key to move to the start-up page
tab.

5. use tab key to move into the list of processes.
6. Use up and down arrow keys in the list and see if you find an entry for
the INIT command that starts a config.XML file for the EZ dock.
7. If you find such an entry then you can check the selection or remove the
checkmark from the selection by using the spacebar.

8. Press the tab key to move to the apply button and press enter key.
9. Use tab key to move to the close button and press enter key.
10. Choose whether to restart the computer or to restart it at a later
time.
11. When the computer is restarted, a dialog box might appear letting you
know that changes were made to the Configuration utility. You can use tab
key to check the box that says something like don't show this message
again and then use tab to the OK or close button and press spacebar.
However, I have found that checking the box doesn't seem to prevent the
message from happening again the next time a change is made to the
Configuration Utility.

If the above steps don't solve the problem then there might be additional
set up and configuration needed to be done for the docking station.

Re: [JAWS-Users] updating jaws error

2009-03-13 Thread Flor Lynch
Focus was not lost in this way for me in any version of 10. It worked (and
works) fine for me, in what I'm doing. Now the subject you replied to
refers to error(or errors) in the update process. I had no problems there.
Others have. I wouldn't put off trying updating just because of that.

It is ashame that JFW doesn't work as advertised. Could anyone tell me if
the new up date fixed any of the bugs, such as replying to a message and the
focus is lost in the first version of 10?

before you install the new build, perhaps you need to first uninstall and
remove your original JAWS10 and its folders - particularly if it was
downloaded from the Web. Then try installing the new build. Or, if the
original JAWS10 was downloaded from the Web, you could uninstall it and
 then
install it with the JAWS10 CD, and then update it via JAWS Updates. (For
safety, just check that JAWS10 one, before doing any other updates there.)

Tried to update jaws from the update in help didn't work got an error
message. Then I downloaded the file and about 50% through the installation
after several retries and starting over kept getting the following error
message even after a reboot and trying again.

 Installer Information
The cabinet file 'JAWS.cab' required for this installation is
corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a
network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a
 problem with this package.

Hi Paul,

I don't know if this is what your looking for, but if you hit the

insert key
plus the f 4 key, otherwise known as the jaws key, it will ask,

are you sure
you want too quit jaws? just press the enter key and jaws will

bemuted. To
get the jaws back working again, just press the control plus the

altplus

j,and jaws will come back as before.

[JAWS-Users] this messenger thing is driving me crazy!

2009-03-13 Thread Randy Tijerina

Friends, for those who may not have seen this message, here goes.
I'm running the latest version of jaws10. and the newest version of windows
live messenger.
is there a way to silence those doggone bullets you hear before the last
message is read?
also i want to change my sounds, but on the sounds tab it's a bit difficult.
the check boxes don't even appear to even be checked, or unchecked.

also there are buttons that are not labled. any suggestions?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Radio Buttons In Gold Wave

2009-03-13 Thread Victor
Hi Darren,

I use the Batch conversion utility quite frequently, and I can't seem to
find where it is that you're speaking of that you say is not accessible with
Jaws.

Every part of GoldWave, in particular, the batch conversion utility is
accessible with Jaws, and Jaws does move or check anything I ask it to.

Can you elaborate and be more specific and perhaps we can find a way to help
you, or, at the very least, see if this is something local, meaning,
happening only on your machine, or if this is something that needs to be
addressed with GoldWave and/or Jatendra.
