[JAWS-Users] Microsoft Outlook 2010

2014-03-07 Thread Hicks Steven (CORNWALL IT SERVICES)
Hi friends,

Can anyone remind me how to create a new folder in Microsoft Outlook 2010 under
the inbox level?
I do a ctrl+I to go to the folder list then right click but it won't give me
any options for some reason.

Many thanks in anticipation,

[JAWS-Users] I phone not in my computer

2014-03-07 Thread Lenny McHugh
I wanted to move some files from my old I phone to the new. The Verizon
support told me to go under my computer and in the I phone first move the
file(s) to a place on my hd. Then plug in the new phone and relocate them.
Neither of my phones show up under my computer. What do I need to do for
windows 7 to see these phones? I am using the latest jaws 15on a win 7 32
bit machine.

[JAWS-Users] setting key board layout

2014-03-07 Thread anna vimini

Hi,
I tried turning off jaws and then restarting it but it goes back the
same way.
The next time it happens I will try pressing the control key several
times like you suggested.

I will let you know if it works the next time it happins.
thanks
Re: [JAWS-Users] setting key board layout
Hi

It sounds like JAWS thinks one of your control keys is stuck as being
pressed. Try pressing and releasing each of the control keys several times.
If that doesn't help, you can shut down JAWS and then restart it rather than
rebooting.

so my question is how do I get it to work right again instead of having to

Re: [JAWS-Users] setting key board layout

2014-03-07 Thread Flor Lynch

Coming in late here.
The ultimate answer may be, to change the keys for changing keyboard
layout, from ctrl+shift keys, to some other combo (of the 4 possible, I
believe), key combinations. To Something like, alt+shift. You would do
this in whatever windows8 calls the Control panel, or in Settings |
Keyboard layouts. Another thing is that you may be involking sticky
keys, of which the ctrl key is one. This again may be modified in
Keyboard | Settings tabs.

times.
If that doesn't help, you can shut down JAWS and then restart it
rather than
rebooting.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] setting key board layout

Hi all using windows eight,
could someone tell me what to do when I accidentally press shift and
control
and Jaws says setting key board layout and then after I gets all mixed
up
and every time I hit the ult key to do something jaws says ult control
because it is mixed up.
so my question is how do I get it to work right again instead of
having to
shut down the computer and restarting it again?

Re: [JAWS-Users] iTunes 11

2014-03-07 Thread john Justice
A bit of a correction here.
The hotkey combination for enabling the Sidebar in ITunes is Control S. It's a
toggle so you can turn it off or on with the same combination.
I have been studying I Tunes 11 and I found that some of the lists are set up
in a horizontal display rather than in column format. This may confuse some
users.
The album list is now very prominent and that is something which is a recent
development.
You can still copy and paste items into a playlist but it isn't quite as easy
as it was in earlier versions.
You have to be sure to be in the correct display. The new I Tunes radio
feature is now right out front and it is accessible by tabbing to that
feature. However, here is a key thing I discovered.
In order to access a particular part of I Tunes 11, you have to use the check
mark feature to confirm that is what you want to see. Playlists, album lists,
songs, books, movies and so on are all there but the layout is different in
some respects.
Maybe this will help or maybe it will only confuse you more but I hope not.
It's a pretty good system once you get used to it.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you are burning to a disk and it runs to more than one, be careful. There
are messages which alert you if there's a problem but they're hard to find.
Usually, the disk drawer will be ejected when the first disk is finished but
not always. Look for an monitor the section of the display which tells you how
much has been completed and what remains.
Jaws will get a bit confused and sometimes read values which are already
completed. Just listen for the lowest value or time remaining. That is
usually the best way to deal with this.
Navigating I Tunes 11 with Jaws is possible but it will take some patience and
familiarity.

[JAWS-Users] EASE OF ACCESS IN WINDOWS 8

I found that function by going to the Start page.

As you know, if you start typing while on that display, it shifts
automatically to the Search field. Type Ease Of Access and then use the up
and down arrows to find the specific one we need.

Tab over and you'll find an option which allows messages from Windows to be
displayed at 7 seconds, 15 seconds and so on. Once set, I believe that it
will stay there as it does with Windows 7.

I hope this helps.

Here is a tip on how to set the time for how long balloon messages
 will
 stay

In Windows 7 it's under Ease of Access. Type Ease of Access in to
 the
search box in the start prompt. In the Ease of Access Center go to,
 Make it
easier to focus on tasks, and hit enter. Near the end of the options
 that
come up is a combo box with different time settings to adjust the time
 that
 those balloons stay on screen.

Listen to the Freedom scientific podcast on how to use jaws with iTunes to
learned how to do different things.
You are mainly going to use the f6 key, the tab key, space bar and enter
keys, and the arrow keys.
I hope this helps...

A lot has changed. Offhand, I don't recall which podcasts cover this, but
check on the FS site for FS Podcasts. There is a very good walk through on
iTunes. By the way, so that screen readers will pronounce it correctly, the
T of iTunes is capitalized. All other letters are lower case. The same is
true for the iPhone and other such devices.

I noticed that several list members are now using Windows 8.1 as I am on a
 laptop.

I have tried every trick I know and can't find out how to create a new
folder using 8.1. Can someone please rescue this poor frustrated Windows 7
user before I give up and re-load Windows 7?

[JAWS-Users] round table discussions with jaws voices

2014-03-07 Thread LeDon
Hello. I would like to create a project for my support group in Dallas. I
would like to create a round table discussion , of subjects of interest to
us, using jaws voices. I would create the script for each voice. Then when
the scripts were knitted together they could be played and heard as though
it was a discussion with several people taking part. Does anyone know of a
jaws friendly software program that I could use to do that?

Gregg,
Try, resaving the doc as another format, or copy paste.

Or resend the doc as a email attachment and then save as..., and change the
format at this time to a Text doc/what ever and save it.
I don't know exactly what your dealing with.
HTH,
Jorge

[JAWS-Users] multiple printers and one note

2014-03-07 Thread Richard Hamel
Hi all,

Win 7 and15.0.

How do you set a particular printer as the default?

I have 2 printers in the house and when I go to print something, I have to
pick a printer.

It seems that the default is one note.

What is One note?

When I selected the printer I wanted and scrolled through the menu and
application options, I did not see any option to make it as default printer.

I tried devices---and could not find the proper option either.

Thanks for your help.

Rich

2014-03-07 Thread Mauricio Molina
I would agree that in File Explorer you can use Control+Shift+N to start the
process of creating a new folder, but it is not necessary to backspace ; the
text is highlighted and can be overwritten just by typing in the name of the
folder.
