Re: [JAWS-Users] setting key board layout
Coming in late here. The ultimate answer may be, to change the keys for changing keyboard layout, from ctrl+shift keys, to some other combo (of the 4 possible, I believe), key combinations. To Something like, alt+shift. You would do this in whatever windows8 calls the Control panel, or in Settings | Keyboard layouts. Another thing is that you may be involking sticky keys, of which the ctrl key is one. This again may be modified in Keyboard | Settings tabs. - Original Message - From: anna vimini an...@etown.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, March 07, 2014 3:38 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] setting key board layout Hi, I tried turning off jaws and then restarting it but it goes back the same way. Re: [JAWS-Users] iTunes 11
A bit of a correction here. The hotkey combination for enabling the Sidebar in ITunes is Control S. It's a toggle so you can turn it off or on with the same combination. I have been studying I Tunes 11 and I found that some of the lists are set up in a horizontal display rather than in column format. This may confuse some users. The album list is now very prominent and that is something which is a recent development. You can still copy and paste items into a playlist but it isn't quite as easy as it was in earlier versions. You have to be sure to be in the correct display. The new I Tunes radio feature is now right out front and it is accessible by tabbing to that feature. However, here is a key thing I discovered. In order to access a particular part of I Tunes 11, you have to use the check mark feature to confirm that is what you want to see. Playlists, album lists, songs, books, movies and so on are all there but the layout is different in some respects. Maybe this will help or maybe it will only confuse you more but I hope not. It's a pretty good system once you get used to it. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are burning to a disk and it runs to more than one, be careful. There are messages which alert you if there's a problem but they're hard to find. Usually, the disk drawer will be ejected when the first disk is finished but not always. Look for an monitor the section of the display which tells you how much has been completed and what remains. Jaws will get a bit confused and sometimes read values which are already completed. Just listen for the lowest value or time remaining. That is usually the best way to deal with this. Navigating I Tunes 11 with Jaws is possible but it will take some patience and familiarity. I found that function by going to the Start page. As you know, if you start typing while on that display, it shifts automatically to the Search field. Type Ease Of Access and then use the up and down arrows to find the specific one we need. It seems that the default is one note. What is One note? When I selected the printer I wanted and scrolled through the menu and application options, I did not see any option to make it as default printer. I tried devices---and could not find the proper option either. Thanks for your help. Rich For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] CREATING NEW FOLDERS IN WINDOWS 8.1
I would agree that in File Explorer you can use Control+Shift+N to start the process of creating a new folder, but it is not necessary to backspace ; the text is highlighted and can be overwritten just by typing in the name of the folder. I have tried every trick I know and can't find out how to create a new folder using 8.1. Can someone please rescue this poor frustrated Windows 7 user before I give up and re-load Windows 7?
