The free version is apparently about ready to expire, which means I'm going
to have to decide whether to purchase it for more permanent use.

Does anyone know what the purchase price is? Also, if you purchase it for
use on one computer, can you use it on another, or must a separate license
be purchased for each individual computer?

If continuing to use Malwarebytes proves to be too expensive, I may consider
switching to something like adwCleaner.

Thanks for any advice.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Malwarebytes Question

2015-06-09 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
The free version does not expire. It might need updating, but it remains free.
It sounds as if you're using a trial copy of the paid version. If that's the
case, you can decide to purchase the pro version, price will depend upon where
and what you purchase, or you can uninstall the trial version and install the
free version.

If you buy a single user license, it good for one computer.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] AFB Creates anAccessible Video Player and Makes It
Available As a Free Download

Just the other day I had a problem trying to listen to a video on a web
site. If I can locate the site again I shall give this a whirl.

The American Foundation for the Blind Creates an Accessible Video Player and

Makes It Available As a Free Download

NEW YORK (May 5, 2015)-Today, the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)
made its new, accessible HTML5 embedded video player available as a free
download. The AFB Accessible Player makes it easy for people with vision
loss to play videos online, something that can be fraught with accessibility

challenges.

People with vision loss need equal access to online videos for school, work

and entertainment. People who are blind typically use only a keyboard, but
many current video players are designed for mouse only, with no way to
interact with the controls via the keyboard, said Crista Earl, director of
AFB Web Services. Other video players have buttons with unlabeled images,
so people using screen readers and people with low vision can't easily fast
forward, pause or rewind the video.

The AFB Accessible Player leverages HTML 5 and cascading style sheets (CSS)
to allow low-vision users to take advantage of websites' high-contrast color

schemes to select the font sizes and colors they find easiest to read. The
controls are labeled with text, so they work with any kind of assistive
technology, such as screen-reading software, braille displays and
screen-magnification software, as well as a mouse. The video can be expanded

to full screen, which is helpful for users with low vision. It can be used
either as an embedded YouTube player or as a standard player, and the custom

control layout supports both English and Spanish languages. The player also
provides fallback options for older browsers. HTML5 is the standard
supported by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which provides enhanced
functionality for modern websites and helps make the Internet more
accessible.

AFB's own websites are designed for accessibility, and AFB Tech, AFB's
technology division, regularly helps businesses to make their online
presence more user friendly for people with disabilities. Initially, the AFB

Accessible Player was developed for visitors to the AFB family of websites,
but because so many developers are looking for specific solutions to make
their websites accessible, AFB made the decision to share the player online.

This HTML5 player is unlike anything else currently available, and we feel
this is a big leap forward for blind and visually impaired users, added
Earl.

As an organization, we are committed to promoting accessibility for people
who are blind or visually impaired, said Carl R. Augusto, AFB president and

CEO. We encourage developers to download and use this video player. With
more than 20 million Americans living with vision loss, a lot of people
could benefit from wide use of this player.

AFB's new HTML5 player is available for download free of charge at

www.afb.org/player.

###

About AFB

The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is a national nonprofit that
expands possibilities for people with vision loss. AFB's priorities include
broadening access to technology; elevating the quality of information and
tools for the professionals who serve people with vision loss; and promoting

independent and healthy living for people with vision loss by providing them

and their families with relevant and timely resources. Headquartered in New
York, AFB is proud to house the Helen Keller Archives and honor the more
than 40 years that Helen Keller worked tirelessly with AFB.

All c cleaners remove more files than needed.

C cleaners are a last resort for me.

If, you check your deleted folder or still in your inbox, the club send out a

Last I knew JAWS didn't support the on-screen keyboard. I think this may
have changed with JAWS 16. Also, touch screen typing is very slow at least
for me. I much prefer a keyboard or Braille display for input. It also
depends on what you want to do with it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Dropbox Question

2015-06-09 Thread Sharon Gosling
I think the problem is not with Dropbox but with your Autoplay settings for
the various content.
Type Autoplay into the search box in the start menu or get there however it
works on Windows 8.
For each type of content you can set what you want autoplay to do. Import
to Dropbox is just one of the choices and probably is what is chosen in your
autoplay settings. For all video and audio formats I mostly have mine set to
ask me every time. This causes the autoplay menu to appear whenever I
insert any media into the computer.
For various DVD and CD formats you might wish to choose to have it begin
playing in various programs that you can choose.
The autoplay settings are easy to navigate. Tab to the media types and use
the arrows to choose your preference. Then choose Save.

It is ctrl+shift+8, and called mark All. It is not punctuation as such. So,

If you hit Alt V, that will put you in JAWS Verbosity. You will need to
arrow down until you get to the punctuation options, and you can opt for
none, some, most or all. It could be that there is something else in those
choices in JAWS Verbosity that would solve your problem, but I don't know
what that is.

One time I had some kind of smart tag or something and ended up calling
Freedom Scientific Customer Service. The woman I talked to was really smart,
got me right to what I had to do to make it stop doing that, and I believe

Hi List, I’m having a bit of a brain freeze, so I’m hoping that someone
will be kind enough to help me out.

 I’m using Word 2007 on a windows 7 computer with Jaws 16.

All of a sudden, Jaws is voicing things as: “New line” or “Paragraph mark”
and I have no idea what I did to cause this or how to stop it. My Jaws is
still set for intermediate and for “Some” punctuation.

When I went to the Jaws window and used Alt F and down arrowed to Voices,
I could not find anything for punctuation. Can anyone help?

 Many sincere thanks!

[JAWS-Users] online storage options

2015-06-09 Thread David Ferrin
Just looking for some facts this afternoon folks. Of the three that I am
aware of IE Google Drive, A Drive and One Drive which of those is the most
accessible? I understand a drive is and my guess one drive might be as well.
They all offer a free version, of that option a drive is the best hands down
with 50 GB of storage.

I do have drop box which over the years managed to build up to 18.5 GB of
free storage. If memory serves might be the limit although I'm not certain.
Obviously that is a lot of storage and that's a good thing. Just wondering
is all. I'm not only asking for myself but also a neighbor who stores tons
of pictures, around 9 GB at last count. He has Google drive but I'm thinking
he'll be overflowing it sometime in the near future.

The free version does not expire. It might need updating, but it remains
free. It sounds as if you're using a trial copy of the paid version. If
that's the case, you can decide to purchase the pro version, price will
depend upon where and what you purchase, or you can uninstall the trial
version and install the free version.

If you buy a single user license, it good for one computer.

Hello, again.

As some of you may recall, I have successfully used the free vbersion of
Malwarebytes to get rid of some annoying malware that appeared on my main
home windows 7 computer a few weeks ago.

I'm a heavy Google Drive user. I had up to 17 GB free storage, but when
ahead and jumped on the $1.99 a month plan for 100 GB.
I believe OneDrive offers 1 TB with their Office 265 plan, but I haven't
really played with it. I left DropBox a while back. Minimal storage aside, I
just found that Google Drive works better for me as far as tying into the
other Google services I use like Gmail and Google Calendars and so on. The
native iOS app and third party apps work well with it too. Jaws
accessibility is fine too if that's important to your neighbor.

The trick is to use the applications key, or shift f10 if you do not have an

add a column to the left.

Then, press the applications key. Down arrow to insert ..., and press

I'm asking this because I want to be sure I get the real thing this time,
rather than some sort of a trial version that is going to expire.

Thank you!

Hello, again.

As some of you may recall, I have successfully used the free vbersion of
Malwarebytes to get rid of some annoying malware that appeared on my main home
windows 7 computer a few weeks ago.

The free version is apparently about ready to expire, which means I'm going to
have to decide whether to purchase it for more permanent use.

Does anyone know what the purchase price is? Also, if you purchase it for use
on one computer, can you use it on another, or must a separate license be
purchased for each individual computer?

If continuing to use Malwarebytes proves to be too expensive, I may consider
switching to something like adwCleaner.

Thanks for any advice.

Well it's not your processor most likely at all. Rather the amount of stuff
that it is forced to process during the average cycle so far as programs
running at startup ETC.

Sadly to my way of thinking that most software venders believe their
products are so important that they should run all of the time instead of
only when needed.

For example I use a program called web drive to send things back and forth
to the server for you folks to download. A very important bit of software to
me but only needed for a few minutes every once in a while. Yet south river
technology thinks it should run all of the time which of course I refuse to
allow. Therefore that saves my system a lot of resources which otherwise
would simply go to waste.

Oh it takes a second or so longer to load when I launch it but I'm OK with
that minor cost of doing business.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] AFB Creates anAccessible Video Player and Makes It
Available As a Free Download

Just the other day I had a problem trying to listen to a video on a web
site. If I can locate the site again I shall give this a whirl.

The American Foundation for the Blind Creates an Accessible Video Player
and

Makes It Available As a Free Download

NEW YORK (May 5, 2015)-Today, the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)
made its new, accessible HTML5 embedded video player available as a free
download. The AFB Accessible Player makes it easy for people with vision
loss to play videos online, something that can be fraught with
accessibility

challenges.

People with vision loss need equal access to online videos for school,
work

and entertainment. People who are blind typically use only a keyboard, but
many current video players are designed for mouse only, with no way to
interact with the controls via the keyboard, said Crista Earl, director
of

AFB Web Services. Other video players have buttons with unlabeled images,
so people using screen readers and people with low vision can't easily
fast

forward, pause or rewind the video.

The AFB Accessible Player leverages HTML 5 and cascading style sheets
(CSS)
to allow low-vision users to take advantage of websites' high-contrast
color

schemes to select the font sizes and colors they find easiest to read. The
controls are labeled with text, so they work with any kind of assistive
technology, such as screen-reading software, braille displays and
screen-magnification software, as well as a mouse. The video can be
expanded

to full screen, which is helpful for users with low vision. It can be
used
either as an embedded YouTube player or as a standard player, and the
custom

control layout supports both English and Spanish languages. The player
also

provides fallback options for older browsers.

Initially, the
AFB

Accessible Player was developed for visitors to the AFB family of
websites,

but because so many developers are looking for specific solutions to make
their websites accessible, AFB made the decision to share the player
online.

This HTML5 player is unlike anything else currently available, and we
feel

this is a big leap forward for blind and visually impaired users, added
Earl.

As an organization, we are committed to promoting accessibility for
people
who are blind or visually impaired, said Carl R. Augusto, AFB president
and

AFB's priorities
include

broadening access to technology; elevating the quality of information and
tools for the professionals who serve people with vision loss; and

Thanks,

That helps. The other thing I'm wondering is when I tel it to remove
threats and I hit enter it sometimes asks me if I want to ignore other
threats I don't usually want to, but how do I tell it I want to get
rid of them? I don't think I see delete as an option. I think my
husband told them to quarantine last time but I'm not sure where to go
to find that and what commands to use to find it.

The free version does not expire. It might need updating, but it remains
free. It sounds as if you're using a trial copy of the paid version. If
that's the case, you can decide to purchase the pro version, price will
depend upon where and what you purchase, or you can uninstall the trial

If you buy a single user license, it good for one computer.

Thanks, Clifford.

Apparently, the trial version continues as the free version after the
initial trial period, so I think I'm ok for now if I want to stick with the
free software.

However, I am tempted to go for the pro version, especially if I can load it
onto more than one computer.

If continuing to use Malwarebytes proves to be too expensive, I may

Hi,
I believe the installation only covers one computer for the life of that
computer.
Even, if you crash your PC, you can still recover your installation as long
as you type the ID number and key number again, when you install Mywarebytes
free version, then activated to the premium and updated it to the latest
version.

If, you install it to 3 pc's let me know?

Apparently, the trial version continues as the free version after the
initial trial period, so I think I'm ok for now if I want to stick with the
free software.

However, I am tempted to go for the pro version, especially if I can load it
onto more than one computer.
