Re: [JAWS-Users] trying to return an item to Amazon
My experience is that while AMAZON whill enforce the return garuntee as well as keeping the delivery date, it is often better to click on the link to contact the seller directly. They will often respond quickly with replacement as well as without mailing charges so as to avoid Amazon's mandates and negative reviews.Of course this will vary with the vendor and cost of the defective item. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf of Michael B. [JAWS-Users] Allow Application Reserved Keystrokes, Explained Where to Find
Hi All, Here's a new feature that was added to this most recent Jaws update that I learned of. Where to find, it's explanation is below. 1. Open the Settings Center then the default Settings Center for all applications. 2. Arrow down to, Web / HTML / PDFs, press right arrow to open. 3. Arrow down to, Miscellaneous, right arrow to open. 4. Arrow down to, Allow Web Application Reserve keystrokes, press the spacebar to check it. 5. Tab to, Apply, press the spacebar, tab to the, Okay button, press enter to save close. Allow Application Reserved Keystrokes explained: Certain interactive Web sites may offer hot keys to perform some common tasks. For example, on the Facebook Web site you can press P to post a status, L to like a story, C to comment on a story, or J and K to scroll between News Feed stories. However, these keystrokes also conflict with JAWS Navigation Quick Keys. When this check box is selected, any JAWS keystrokes that are also defined as hot keys by a Web site will perform the site specific task instead of the JAWS command. This check box is cleared by default HTH Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. Go Dodgers! Re: [JAWS-Users] modes of communications (returning item)
I have a phone can't get rid of it without dumping my internet, and I have a cell phone, however, I dislike trying to get customer service to do anything. I watch my cousin and her husband grab a phone call and spend more than 30 minutes just getting directed to the correct person, I could do a lot of things in that same period of time, read a book, clean, walk, write 20 or more e-mail, shop and buy on the internet. It absolutely annoys me to listen to someone telling the same story to five different people listen to that horrid stuff they call music and it isn't in my book, and then maybe get your issue solved to your satisfaction. I avoid it whenever possible and sit here tense and ready to toss anything at anything else when I must do it. Due to a hearing problem, hard to listen to something else while waiting. I feel like I am wasting time, even though I am now no longer working, and can waste time, I dislike doing it on something I dislike so much. Friends may call me, I may talk for hours on the phone, not all that often, but, I hate customer service phone calls. My time is as valuable as theirs. Sorry, this is definitely a hot button for me. I have had to make some of these calls since my husband passed last year to change utilities to my name ... and I usually end up angry or depressed after I have had to sit for hours and, some phone conversations have lasted more than an hour and a half trying to accomplish something that should have taken no more than 15 minutes. People tell me it is the way it is, but it does not make me like it. Re: [JAWS-Users] Script Issue
Hi In JAWS 16, FS added code to determine if native JAWS code or events were being processed normally. After some specified time, if they are not being processed, this code assumes that something is in an infinite loop and will restart JAWS. I don't know if this code was added in a JAWS script, or in the JAWS base code itself. While a JAWS script is running, JAWS native code is not running. So in JAWS 16, there is a maximum elapsed time that a JAWS script can run. I have a JAWS script that looks for and documents debugging code I have added to scripts I've created which can run several minutes. I know it's monopolizing The PC, but I am willing to wait. I do not know if there's a way to change the default time a script is allowed to run or not. So there's no way I can run this script in JAWS 16. But it will still run fine in JAWS 15 and earlier. So if you're authorized for JAWS 16, you can run your script in JAWS 15 or earlier and then return to JAWS 16. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of East, Robin Sent: Friday, July 17, 2015 10:07 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Script Issue Folks can anyone tell me how to disable the JAWS new autoStart event. And, then how to re-enable it. I may be calling this event by the wrong name but it is the function that if JAWS crashes JAWS will automatically re-start. In the script below JAWS will crash and then re-start in JAWS 16. Using same script in JAWS 12 it does work. Please see see script for testing below and if anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. I thank you. Note, I have put this to FS and I am told to go back to basics of Scripting and that my variables are wrong and I need to use the LET . I am also told it is an infinite loop thus JAWS crashes. However, LET was dropped in JAWS 11 and this loop works in JAWS 12 and if one reduces the numbers you will find it does work in JAWS 16. However, with the current numbers of which I ned JAWS crashes, I believe, due to the new autoStart event. Just a guess. [JAWS-Users] Malware Bytes or Viper
Hello- I have been using Malware Bytes trial version based on some of the posts in the list. I am using JAWS 14 with Windows 7 and I don't find it that easy to use other than tabbing through a few basic fields. I want to see if Viper is friendlier but someone said that Malware Bytes can be used even after the trial period. If so, how does that work? If you are using Viper and had been using Malware did you find Viper better? Wayne For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Go Dodgers! Re: [JAWS-Users] Removing Tables and leaving text
This may not be of help but I use Word 2007 and all I need to do is to go to the begining of the table then: Alt+j, l and v This puts me in Convert table to text and I choose the way I want the content of the table to be separated and the hit ok. If 2013 cut out that feature that would be a shame and a pain but you could give it a shot.
