Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Express, options, finding advanced page, removing message from server
Hi Neil, That's because you're looking in the application settings, and not the account settings. When you press alt+T for the tools menu, assuming you're using the original Outlook Express, press the letter A for accounts, and in the resulting dialog box, arrow up or down to the account she's trying to change the setting on. Once highlighted, press alt+P for the properties dialog box, then control+tab to go to the Advanced tab. One thing I would recommend is to leave the copy of messages on the server, but check the box after that that says, "Remove from server when deleted from the 'deleted items' folder", this will ensure that she's got a copy of the messages she wants to keep or archive, but deletes the messages she doesn't want to keep when she clears her deleted items folder. Just a thought, but feel free to act according to the person's needs. Hello- When I go on the internet it has become standard that each time my home page or a different website loads I hear it load about 3 times. Re: [JAWS-Users] Web pages loading multiple times
I'm pretty sure it's just JAWS reputing itself. I've gotten used to this behavior. I suspect that the continuous flashing of the title line is causing JAWS to read the updated text. You might be able to suppress this using your verbosity settings. This is what FS says, & there must be some kind of method to their madness, so to speak! I don't have the scripting knowledge to understand what will happen if the line of text is inserted into the JSS file being that the semicolon is at the beginning of the line of text. From my very limited script knowledge that semicolon basically tells Jaws to ignore that line of text so, if that's true I wouldn't have a clue as to what that would mean. I guess the important thing would be to know exactly where in the JSS file this line of text goes in order to know what effect it would have with prior scripts. My guess would be that this JSS text line insertion is only a temporary fix of some sort for Jaws 17 & earlier until FS gets the merge utility configured & ready for prime time use. Hopefully Señor Eric Damry will wade in on this topic & clarify for us what's happening. Take care. So anyone looking for a work-around in the meantime might be as happy as I am to discover that Narrator is a help in this situation. Here’s hoping that perhaps one day sooner rather than later JFW can be made to work better in this dialog once again as it did in jfw and office versions past. I hope that helps someone. Can anyone else reproduce this behavior; or has anyone found any work arounds to improve the performance in this dialog area? thanks in advance. Re: [JAWS-Users] I don't know what to think
No. The WinAmp setting is the same for both versions of JAWS. I even removed the ad blocker program, but the problem with the vertual PC cursor remains when switching between programs. This does not happen in JAWS 15 but only with 17. I haven't tried 16. On 12/14/2015 12:27 PM, Dave Carlson wrote: That's sure strange. That might mean the settings for your browser carry over to WinAmp, and change things like the virtual cursor. When you're in WinAmp with JAWS 17, Press Insert+Q to hear what settings file is currently active. See if that's different when you're using JAWS 15. Re: [JAWS-Users] control panel; windows update settings
I have never seen the "##" option. But, when I just went and checked, the other downloads had completed. And, today the Windows 10 check box showed up. A couple weeks ago it was in the list. Last week, it was not listed. Go figure. I guess they are trying to sneak us into it. Thanks for the info. You'll find a reference to the Windows 10 update in there. Arrow down to it and hit the [Spacebar] to uncheck it. Then you'll be able to continue with the d/l of the important updates you really want to get. Even though normally any updates listed under "Optional" aren't checked as a default, Microsoft has decided to check the Windows 10 update. Figure that LOL! [JAWS-Users] Outlook Express, options, finding advanced page, removing message from server
Hello Gang: I have a friend using outlook express. She has way too many messages on her Frontier server. I thought there was a way to go to the advanced page and check/uncheck some boxes concerning messages on her server. However, we could not find the location to do that. I went to tools and options. Found the general page, send/receive, maintenance, and so forth. But, I never found an advanced page. I was almost sure there was an advanced page to accomplish this task. No luck. So, without look express, how do you get to the location to manage things on the server? I think we tried all menus. After going to tools, the first thing is the send and receive sub menu. But, the only thing I heard there was "control m." No pages came up. So, I know you know the answer. Thanks for your future response.
