Re: [JAWS-Users] can you read me?

2016-10-23 Thread Mike B.
Hi John,

I know that Outlook 2010 has a Tools menu but, since I don't run this email
client I can't give you the steps to get into, Tools / Accounts /
Properties. Hopefully someone on the list running Outlook 2010 can give
better instructions. Sorry but, Outlook is just way above my pay grade, & I
don't need all it's functions so, I stick to Outlook Express. Sorry I
couldn't have been of more help.
Take care.

  Hi Andy,

You can try the following in Gmail to see if this will get you a copy of
  your posts:

Assuming you're using a standard e-mail client like Outlook Express or
Outlook, open up the tools menu, then arrow down to accounts and press
  enter.

Once in the dialog box, highlight your Gmail account, and tab to the
properties button, and press the spacebar.

You should be on the General Tab. Now, tab down to the e-mail address
edit
  field.

In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail
address.

So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would
type
  in:

  recent:dwmaster...@gmail.com

Tab down to the apply button, press the spacebar, then shift+tab back to
the
ok button and press the spacebar.

You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to
the
close button, then press the spacebar again.

The next time you send and receive your messages, you'll receive each and
every message you ever sent via Gmail, so be prepared to get a flood of
  e-mails once you do this.

  Take care.

Well, needless to say, I'm disappointed too.

It seems like with newer updates to Outlook, certain things that used to

not tracking correctly.

When I get the chance, I'll try the Jaws cursor as you suggest, to see if
that helps.

Tom, I'm disappointed. You'll note that in his original instructions, David
said it got tricky here. I wonder if turning on the JAWS cursor might locate
the checkbox for you. If it does, keep focus on that checkbox and try
pressing insert-enter to uncheck. I can only say that in Outlook 2010, the
right arrow works consistently on my machine.

Adrian and all:

I swallowed my pride, and got my wife's sighted assistance with this issue.

It turns out that for whatever reason, Jaws was not tracking my options and

For example, even though auto-numbering was indeed in the next column right
after auto-bulleting, hitting my right arrow key once simply was not getting

Nevertheless, I'm going to save these updated instructions for future

At least I was close to the options I needed to pay attention to.

Mike, thanks for catching this. As you clearly guessed, "uncheck" is the
answer. I'll copy the corrected instructions below so that no one has to add

need to tab to the Okay button and press spacebar, after which you can exit the

4. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

Tom, I'm guessing you're missing a step in David's instructions. When you
land on the bullets checkbox, don't tab. Instead, right arrow once. Then
automatic numbering turns up. Not exactly intuitive, I agree.

  Hello, everyone.

I have tried the steps sent to me by Kimsan, David, and Joseph, and still
can't get auto-numbering to be turned off in Outlook 2016 e-mails.

I am not sure if this is a Jaws issue, because when I get to the
auto-numbering as you type options, I can find auto-bulleting which I have
unchecked, but can't find auto-numbering.

Again, I must point out that I'm using Outlook 2016 with Office 365 and

This is extremely frustrating, and should not be this difficult.

I'm still not having much luck here.

In my version of Outlook 2016, again using Office 365 and Windows 7, I
cannot find auto-numbering to uncheck, by pressing the right arrow key one
time after unchecking auto-bulleting.

The option just does not seem to be there.

I think I'm going to have to get sighted assistance on this issue, although
I'll be happy to try other suggestions.

Now, tab down
to the e-mail address edit field.

In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail
address.

So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would
type
  in:

  recent:dwmaster...@gmail.com

Tab down to the apply button, press the spacebar, then shift+tab back to
the
  ok button and press
  the spacebar.

You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to
the
close button, then press the spacebar again.

Re: [JAWS-Users] can you read me?

2016-10-23 Thread Scorpio
Gino, you should do this if you use an e-mail client like Thunderbird,
Outlook, all variants, Outlook Express, now Windows Mail/Windows Live mail.

You do not need to do this on the website if you check your mail via the
internet.

Now, tab down
to the e-mail address edit field.

In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail address.

So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would type
in:

recent:dwmaster...@gmail.com

Tab down to the apply button, press the spacebar, then shift+tab back to the
ok button and press
the spacebar.

You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to the
close button, then press the spacebar again.

The next time you send and receive your messages, you'll receive each and
every message you ever sent via Gmail, so be prepared to get a flood of
e-mails once you do this.

Take care.

2016-10-23 Thread Scorpio
Unfortunately this is a bug in Gmail accounts. For some reason, when
sending to an e-mail list, your messages don't come back.

You must put the word "recent", without the quotes, followed by a colon,
then your e-mail address when setting up your account with an email client.

In other words, in your e-mail client, your username should look like this:

recent:wellerandy1...@gmail.com

Then your password would remain the same.

Be prepared though, you'll receive every message you've sent thus far.

Good luck.

[JAWS-Users] KeePass Help

2016-10-23 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hello All,

I've only recently decided to try KeePass located on the programs page of
the JAWS-Users website. I am on a Windows 10 PC with JAWS 17. I did not find
the application extremely intuitive but with some information found on the
First Step Tutorial-KeePass website
(http://keepass.info/help/base/firststeps.html), I made at least some
headway.

I was able to create new categories as well as new entries. It was at the
time of saving the database that I was asked what to call it and where it
should be save. Thus far, easy peazy.

After closing and properly naming and saving, I tried to open the newly
created KeePass database and this is where I ran into trouble: Windows asked
which program should be used to open the database. I tried using a few
different applications without success. Anyone have this issue with KeePass?
Additionally, the tutorial states that I can right click the entry and
choose from a list of options, but when I attempted to use the application
key, no menu appeared. It can't be this difficult can it? I must be missing
a step somewhere.

Any and all help appreciated.

Mauricio

Re: [JAWS-Users] ANTI VIRUS PROGRAM WITH JAWS?

2016-10-23 Thread Aran_A

Hi Mike,

I installed and activated Panda with no problem. Now my PC is protected.

But, today when I tried to schedule a scan, I could not find the OK button.
My daughter clicked on the OK for me, and now I have a weekly scheduled
scan. I did not try very hard to find the OK button, but possibly it is not
accessible.

Originally I just setup the protection, but before today I never tried to
scan the PC.

I believe that due to the good protection of the Panda Free Antivirus, it is
worth checking it and deciding if it accessible enough for you or not,
especially if you have someone that can help you once to click on the OK
button to schedule the scan (daily, weekly or monthly).

Best wishes,

Aran

One additional note to my last message is that when you switch to the normal

your lines are indented. If you want to write something that lines up with the

you press enter again the numbering and indentation continues.
Switching to normal style is a fast way to stop the numbering but remember
lines are no longer indented automatically when using the normal style.

If you want to use the built-in auto numbering but you want numbering to
stop after pressing enter key just change the style to normal. After
pressing enter key and hearing the number you don't want press CTRL with
Shift key and the letter N. This should remove the number on the line
because you are switching from the list numbering style to the normal style.

lines are no longer indented automatically when using the normal style.

Take care.

Hello, everyone.

How exactly does one stop auto-numbering when composing e-mails with Outlook
2016?

I used to be able to stop this feature in Outlook 2010 by simply hitting
"enter" several times between list items, but this doesn't seem to work in
Outlook 2016.

It is very anoying, especially when auto-numbering is not desired!

The sound card does not replace the microphone, rather, you would either use
the built-in microphone or for better results, plug in an external
microphone into the audio input jack of your computer. A USB microphone,
(or headset), normally uses its own sound card instead of the computer sound
card.

I use a Plantronics headset with separate 3.5 mm plugs for headphones and
microphone, with excellent results.

How does virtual recorder work, I understand the program uses the sound card
in place of a microphone as an audio input. but would I beable to use the
recording feature of GoldWave or does virtual recorder have its own
recording feature.
I have a

2016-10-23 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Tom,

If you want to use the built-in auto numbering but you want numbering to
stop after pressing enter key just change the style to normal. After
pressing enter key and hearing the number you don't want press CTRL with
Shift key and the letter N. This should remove the number on the line
because you are switching from the list numbering style to the normal style.

Take care.

Hi Again Lev,

I think I found the setting to stop Jaws from saying, use arrow keys. Open
your Jaws context menu / Options / Basics. When you open, Basics, you'll be
in a list of 3 radio buttons:
Tutor Messages:
1. Turn off Menu and Control Help.
2. Announce Menu and Control Help.
3. Announce Custom Messages Only

Arrow / select # 3, tab to Okay & press enter. See if this helps.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How To Stop Auto-numbering In Outlook 2016

2016-10-23 Thread David Whitehead
Hello there;

Give the following a try;

1. From the File tab, click Options.
Alt+f=file, t=options,

2. Select Mail and click the Spelling and Autocorrect button.
You can press letter "m"=mail, or, you can simply up-arrow,
At this point do not press enter,
Tab enter on, Spelling and Autocorrect button
3. In the Proofing section, click AutoCorrect Options.
Tab enter on, AutoCorrect Options
4. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
5. In the Apply as you type section, un-check Automatic bulleted lists and
Automatic numbered lists.
It is a little tricky here however this should provide you with the
preferred result.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tom,

I do not know how to do this in 2016, but in 2010 Alt, H, U opens the
bullets submenu and you would use your arrow keys to get to "None". I
cannot remember the command for getting to the Numbers submenu, but in 2010
it is the item to the right of Bullets on the ribbon. Maybe someone can
come up with the short cut. For some reason the short cut keys that are
being announced when I check out my ribbon are not making sense.

Another idea is to see if your applications key brings up a context menu
that offers a choice for turning off the numbering.

HTH,
Annette

As I said in my previous note, I did this with no luck.

If I hit enter twice, the auto-numbering continues.

Don't understand why Microsoft feels that it has to dictate this aspect of
composing e-mail!
