[JAWS-Users] Outlook 2013 question

2017-01-14 Thread Tammy
Hello,

Would somebody please remind me how to create an email group using Outlook
2013 and Jaws 17? I did it in Outlook Express years ago and can't find what
I need.

Thank you so much!

Re: [JAWS-Users] system information

2017-01-14 Thread Mike B.
Hi Kevin,

If you're using a standard / desktop keyboard, directly to the right of the,
F12 key, are 3 keys. Print Screen, Scroll Lock, & Pause. They are above
what's referred to as the 6 pack of keys located between the main keyboard &
the Numpad. If you do as Joseph Lee suggests, route your Jaws cursor to the
PC cursor & arrow down to read all the information, or you can virtualize
the window to copy the info as I suggested earlier.
Take care.

Hi Kevin,

Yes it is possible. Try the following:
1. Hold down the Windows Key, & press the, Pause key. This is a shortcut
keystroke for opening System properties.
2. Press, Insert / Jaws key, Alt key, + W, to virtualize the window.
3. Press, Control + A, to copy everything to the clipboard.
4. Open Notepad, & press, Control + V, to paste the info.
You might have to do a certain amount of editing, but all the information
will be there.
Take care.

[JAWS-Users] partition usb drive?

2017-01-14 Thread Lenny McHugh
My grandson just received his 2tb usb drive. I want to help him make it into
3 virtual drives a 1tb and 2 more equal parts or close to it. I thought that
windows 10 could accomplish this task but I was incorrect. It states that
usb drives must use 3rd party software. I scanned through the programs list
and did not see any free programs. He only wants to partition the drive one
time. He asked if just making 3 main folders would work. I think it would
but the 3 drives would be best. The 1tb for all of the downloads of the
large steam games that he uses. and each of the other partitions to backup
his new desktop and the 3rd to backup his college laptop.

Hi,
A much better (and perhaps a stable) way: press Windows+R, type "msinfo32"

which will tell you everything you need to know about your computer and your

Cheers,

Another way to get system info is to type system in the search box.
However, when I did that I got the info but got JAWS acting erratic so

[JAWS-Users] How to capture system information

2017-01-14 Thread Tim Ford
You can get that text by using the JAWS layered keystrokes of JAWS key plus
space bar, then h for the JAWS speech history buffer. You do this right
after having read the information, regardless of whether in or out of review
mode. Copy the string of text you want; I typically just press control a to
select all, control C for copy, then paste into Word. I then edit that to
have just the portions of text I want. Give it a try, it helps with all
instances of wanting to capture something JAWS said, since the buffer
includes JAWS prompts and messages.

2017-01-14 Thread Mike B.
Hi Adrian,

After removing the ENU Files & replacing them, did you unload & restart
Jaws? Also, what happens if you delete the contents of the clipboard? I
just wonder if deleting the contents of the clipboard will stop the
clipboard from showing / interfering with Jaws. Also, maybe someone will
clear this up because I don't know if the Clipboard is a part of Windows
Explorer, or the operating system, & Office & Outlook have commands to
access it, or if the Clipboard is actually a part of the Office / Outlook
program.

At the risk of trying everyone's patience, here's the next installment. This
is the problem where JAWS verbalizes a clipboard, possibly the Office
clipboard, when I open an Outlook 2010 message or start replying to a
message. It all started after I experimented with the Office clipboard
settings.

As far as I can tell, disabling the Office clipboard doesn't solve the
problem I'm having, which is that JAWS will verbalize clipboard contents
when I open a new message. I could be wrong, but although I can't confirm
when the clipboard is disabled, I've followed the steps to disable it.

After a long talk with Mike B, I established one new fact and tried a new
approach. The new fact is that Outlook works fine with JAWS 17. This surely
confirms that the problem I'm having is with JAWS 18.

Mike suggested I try removing certain files from my JAWS 18 ENU folder and
replacing them with the same files from my JAWS 17 ENU folder. Other than an
Outlook.jdf file, the only files that seemed relevant were Outlook.jcf and
Word.jcf. I went ahead, removed them from the J18 ENU folder and replaced
them with the J17 ENU equivalents. Unfortunately, the problem persists.
(I've now restored the original two JCF files to my J18 ENU folder.

Note that before doing all that, I copied both folders and clearly labeled
them. I was super careful not to confuse the files. There were other steps
in-between, but they didn't establish anything.

So, can anyone suggest anything based on this new information? Could another
ENU file possibly be involved?

I haven't upgraded to the current JAWS 18 release. Might doing so solve the
problem? I've already run repairs on both JAWS 18 and Office 2010.

So I just tried your method of determining when the control is disabled and

the control and working for a while, then going back and pressing enter

Hello Adrian;
Ok, I played with this a little,
What I found was, you need to turn the office clipboard off, from word.

1, go into word,

Now press alt+h=home
Now, tab and enter on, office clipboard
You will see that the clip board has been disabled.
You can verify this by routing jaws to pc, you will not see the office
clipboard if it's disabled.

Hope this helps.

Hello Adrian;
Ok, I played with this a little,
What I found was, you need to turn the office clipboard off, from word.

1, go into word,

Now press alt+h=home
Now, tab and enter on, office clipboard
You will see that the clip board has been disabled.
You can verify this by routing jaws to pc, you will not see the office
clipboard if it's disabled.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, David. I found the same area in Outlook 2010, which I should have
mentioned I'm using. I'd already unchecked every item in that list, and I just
now went back in to double-check. Any more great ideas to pull out of your bag

these easy steps. In Excel, Word or Powerpoint, select the "Home"
tab. Select the arrow next to "Office Clipboard". Select "Options" at the

[JAWS-Users] jaws 18 and outlook 2016 not getting a long.

2017-01-14 Thread Matthew Dyer
Hi all. Running windows 10 outlook 2016 and jfw 18 latest build. For some
reason jaws and outlook 2016 keeps crashing when trying to switch folders.
I had just did a fresh install of windows 10 afrtter my install had a mager
melt down. Any how any idea why this might be happening? This a fresh
install of office. Any other outlook users having this? Thanks it is
driving me crazy.

Matthew

Re: [JAWS-Users] Clipboard text keeps interfering with JAWS

2017-01-14 Thread Adrian Spratt
David,

Yesterday I tried this dialog with NVDA and noticed that the control there
(unlike with JAWS) is labeled "Show Office clipboard." That implies it's a
toggle, and what you say here confirms it. Beyond that, NVDA wasn't helpful.
From what I've read, NVDA now supports Word 2013 and 2016, but not my 2010.

So I just tried your method of determining when the control is disabled and
enabled. I wasn't successful. However, I'll experiment by pressing enter on the
control and working for a while, then going back and pressing enter again. I'll
assume that either the first or second time, pressing enter disabled it. That
way I should figure out if disabling is the answer.

Once again, thanks for all your good advice to list members.

Thanks, Annette, but I'm afraid your post shows it doesn't work. I opened your

Any other thoughts? This is very distracting.

Hi Adrian,

Well, what I would do is,
Go into word, and uncheck the same boxes,
Perhaps this may help to solve the issue.
