I have done it several times in the past. This time I am running into several problems. When I have different Word docs open or I am writing an email using Outlook 2007 JAWS appears to jump to other Windows without warning. For example, I was writing an email and the focus kept jumping to things like the Desktop, time and date or battery check and I had to alt tab back to my email multiple times and its happening as I write this. The same thing happens when I am working in a MS Word doc. Any thoughts on how to get back my JAWS stability? I have JAWS 14 and Windows 7 Also, I went on the web and to my bank. When I tried to log in the bank gave me a notice that it did not recognize my computer and I had to go through a security process to get the recognition back. I never had these problems before with Geek Squad but I noticed that the people are new and not as sharp as the old ones who suddenly disappeared. It's like the old days when occasionally you would go to a web site and JAWS would say, no links. I did a repair on JAWS, but no change. FS is working on this problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] How well is MSE working for you?
Hi Jorge, Well, AVG must have changed their interface back to being accessible with Jaws because I stopped, along with many others, to MSSE after AVG became inaccessible. I also run Malware Bytes Super Antispyware as secondary scanning programs I'm very happy with our results. When I turn 100 years old I'll let you know if AVG can be used! LOL LOL Take care. Hi Mike, MSE is alright and there is nothing great about it, that's why it's free. When Bill Gate makes you buy it it will work much better.. I run Mywarebytes Pro and that seems to always pick up something. And AVG is so simple to use that a 100 year old guy can run it, LOL!!! Later Bro. Hi Cher, I have MSSE installed on all of our computers we are very happy with the job it does. For example, if we attempt to download MSSE notices something peculiar about it ,it stops the download scans it before downloading it. Depending on which computer we have we also run SuperAntiSpyware or Malware Bytes but, not at the same time but, we'll run a full scan with 1 of these independently to catch something that either MSSE is not made to catch or something that MSSE might have missed. We run SAS or Malware Bytes on a schedule scan just like we run MSSE on a scheduled scan but, they don't run at the same time. They run independently of each other so there is no conflict. We have tried AVG Avast in the past but, they became too much of a hassle to navigate with Jaws, where MSSE can be navigated quite easily with Jaws. Re: [JAWS-Users] ms word 2010
Hi Angelina, Try the following: While in Word, if you go to Tools, Options, Advanced tab there is a checkbox that you can uncheck, prompt before saving normal template. If you uncheck this checkbox, any changes to the normal template will be saved automatically without bringing up that dialogue. While on the Advance Tab, Alt + O, is the keystroke that will get you there more quickly. Note: you may have to invoke the Alt + O keystroke more than once to get you there. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 14/W-7 and Java?
I agree with you, I own a list of over 600 people on it, with various skills ETC. Not everyone is an advanced computer, not everyone has a masters degree. I know of a member on my list in his 70's, and he is still learning. Before being rude, ask yourself, is this how I would want someone to treat me? B: Still using Outlook Office as work for home and e-mail but will in time go to Outlook Office 2010 after finishing training in it. Just to busy training for up grades for AAA call center. C: I use Quicken 10 thinking and that runs my home entirely. That said. This is a Windows 7 and the owner on this list knows what it all has in it. Which Jaws 13 latest was working grand on it. When Internet 9 was installed, I decided to go with Jaws 14 that I have a license for. First stripping all of Jaws 13 and all associated to it. Then installed Jaws 14 February release. This proven to be a frustration as it would freeze up. I did report and to this date not heard from FS Tech that is looking at the dump files that was told on HIGH Priority. That said, I asked questions here and because of sentence and language barriers.. Well, I contacted a friend that uses Jaws here and there. He uses another screen reader but this is Jaws group. First off he noted that this machine was more or less set up for gamers. Thus noted go to the web site and see what recommendations and then to the Microsoft site and see the optional up dates see if related to the cards and bingo so down loaded them. FS, Tech, also advised that one should have the latest of Java as noted on their site. Because of the Jaws not coming back and well just turn the power off on four different times. So Friday I did a complete disc clean up, left over night to do it's thing, the last step 7 hours. then After work did a defrag. To this point Jaws 14 seems by all accounts working and no disappearance of Jaws 14 to this point. It will ask you if you want to erace the folder or not. I must tell you, if you do the shift delete command, it will not move it to the recycle bin folder. Instead it will totally erace the folder you are trying to delete. So, you'll probably have to uninstall Jaws and delete the freedomscientific folder afterwords. Then, go into the windows registry by using the run dialog with windows key r, then typing, regedit.exe Now, after you hit enter, you will see a bunch of registry folders that are either open or closed. The first one you will probably see first, is HKEY classes Root. it will either say open or closed just go down until it says something like, HKEY current user. open that folder with right arrow and go down till you see the folder called software. open that folder and go down until you see the Freedomscientific folder. just hit the delete key and it will ask you if you want to delete the registry folder. Hit Y for yes and it will be deleted. Next, hit left arrow a couple of times till you close the HKEY Current user folder. Then, go down again until you see the folder called, HKEY local machine. open that folder with right arrow and go down until you see the software folder. open the folder and go down until you see the freedomscientific folder. delete that folder and hit left arrow until you close the HKEY local machine folder. Sorry if this is too long, but I hope I helped you. Do you have another screen reader like NVDA so you can do this? I'm not sure if it will fix your problem, but sometimes programs will get corrupted, and even an uninstall and a reinstall won't help, unless, as a last resort, you have to go unto the windows registry folder and deleting the program folder. If all else fails, maybe try a reformat of windows. - Original Message - From: Siddalingeshwar Ingalagi ingalagisi...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2013 10:50 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to use FsReader in my PC. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thankss! Good morning, I've been a supporter of JAWS since version 2.x. Always have stayed up-to-date on my SMA. Never have I been totally dismayed with a major update until version 12.x. This has got to be the worst release of JAWS I've ever tried. First graphics it use to read as so, it now recognizes them as buttons. Quite irritating when you use quick navigation keys to jump to certain elements of a web page to read it faster. And it is quite the memory hog! JAWS 12.x crashes so much on my high-end Windows 7 machine, I've gone back to using 11.x. Think it has something to do with the Virtual Ribbon or new fangled Config manager, who knows. Anycase, it is very irritating to be reading a web page, only to have it go silent for 3 minutes, and then JAWS comes back. Sorry HJ, but I hate v12 of JAWS and have gone back to using v11.x perminantly. It's more stable and doesn't crash every 5 minutes. Wish you allowed us to switch the config manager back to the old one. Do away with using this new Virtual Ribbon. Give us a choice to switch them on and off. If I get booted for expressing my feelings on this list, so be it. Never done this before, until now. Feel better getting this off my chest. Thanks for listening.
